¹Now Jericho was straitly shut up because of the children of Israel: none went out, and none came in.

¹Di kota Yerikho pintu-pintu gerbang sudah dijaga ketat dan ditutup rapat-rapat supaya orang Israel tidak dapat masuk. Tidak seorang pun diperbolehkan masuk atau keluar kota itu.

²And the LORD said unto Joshua, See, I have given into thine hand Jericho, and the king thereof, and the mighty men of valor.

²TUHAN berkata kepada Yosua, "Sekarang Aku serahkan kepadamu Yerikho dengan rajanya dan semua tentaranya yang berani-berani itu.

³And ye shall compass the city, all ye men of war, and go round about the city once. Thus shalt thou do six days.

³Engkau dan tentaramu harus berbaris mengelilingi kota itu sekali sehari selama enam hari.

⁴And seven priests shall bear before the ark seven trumpets of rams' horns: and the seventh day ye shall compass the city seven times, and the priests shall blow with the trumpets.

⁴Tujuh orang imam, masing-masing membawa trompet, harus berjalan di depan Peti Perjanjian. Pada hari ketujuh, engkau dan tentaramu harus mengelilingi kota itu tujuh kali sementara para imam meniup trompetnya.

⁵And it shall come to pass, that when they make a long blast with the ram's horn, and when ye hear the sound of the trumpet, all the people shall shout with a great shout; and the wall of the city shall fall down flat, and the people shall ascend up every man straight before him.

⁵Kemudian imam-imam itu harus meniup trompetnya dengan bunyi yang panjang. Begitu kalian mendengar bunyi yang panjang itu, semua tentara harus bersorak dengan gemuruh, maka tembok kota itu akan runtuh. Lalu kalian semua harus langsung memasuki kota itu."

⁶And Joshua the son of Nun called the priests, and said unto them, Take up the ark of the covenant, and let seven priests bear seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD.

⁶Maka Yosua memanggil para imam, dan berkata, "Angkatlah Peti Perjanjian itu; tujuh orang dari antara kalian harus berjalan di depannya sambil membawa trompet."

⁷And he said unto the people, Pass on, and compass the city, and let him that is armed pass on before the ark of the LORD.

⁷Lalu Yosua menyuruh tentaranya berbaris mengelilingi kota itu, didahului oleh barisan pengawal depan yang berjalan mendahului Peti Perjanjian TUHAN.

⁸And it came to pass, when Joshua had spoken unto the people, that the seven priests bearing the seven trumpets of rams' horns passed on before the LORD, and blew with the trumpets: and the ark of the covenant of the LORD followed them.

⁸Sesuai dengan perintah Yosua, berangkatlah barisan pengawal depan mendahului imam-imam peniup trompet, diikuti oleh imam-imam yang memikul Peti Perjanjian, kemudian diakhiri oleh barisan pengawal belakang. Sementara mereka berjalan, trompet terus-menerus dibunyikan.

⁹And the armed men went before the priests that blew with the trumpets, and the rearward came after the ark, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

⁹(6:8)

¹⁰And Joshua had commanded the people, saying, Ye shall not shout, nor make any noise with your voice, neither shall any word proceed out of your mouth, until the day I bid you shout; then shall ye shout.

¹⁰Semua tentara sudah diperintahkan untuk tidak bersorak dan tidak mengucapkan sepatah kata pun kalau Yosua belum memberi aba-aba.

¹¹So the ark of the LORD compassed the city, going about it once: and they came into the camp, and lodged in the camp.

¹¹Demikianlah Yosua menyuruh tentaranya membawa Peti Perjanjian mengelilingi kota itu satu kali, kemudian kembali ke perkemahan, dan bermalam di situ.

¹²And Joshua rose early in the morning, and the priests took up the ark of the LORD.

¹²Besoknya, pagi-pagi sekali, Yosua bangun lalu untuk kedua kalinya para imam dan tentara berbaris mengelilingi kota itu dalam urutan barisan seperti hari sebelumnya: mula-mula barisan pengawal depan, kemudian ketujuh imam peniup trompet, disusul oleh imam-imam yang memikul Peti Perjanjian, dan akhirnya barisan pengawal belakang. Sementara itu trompet terus-menerus dibunyikan.

¹³And seven priests bearing seven trumpets of rams' horns before the ark of the LORD went on continually, and blew with the trumpets: and the armed men went before them; but the rearward came after the ark of the LORD, the priests going on, and blowing with the trumpets.

¹⁴And the second day they compassed the city once, and returned into the camp: so they did six days.

¹⁴Pada hari kedua itu mereka mengelilingi kota satu kali kemudian kembali ke perkemahan. Begitulah mereka lakukan setiap hari selama enam hari.

¹⁵And it came to pass on the seventh day, that they rose early about the dawning of the day, and compassed the city after the same manner seven times: only on that day they compassed the city seven times.

¹⁵Pada hari ketujuh mereka bangun pagi-pagi ketika matahari baru terbit, lalu berbaris tujuh kali mengelilingi kota Yerikho itu dengan cara yang sama. Hanya pada hari ketujuh itu saja, mereka mengelilingi kota itu tujuh kali.

¹⁶And it came to pass at the seventh time, when the priests blew with the trumpets, Joshua said unto the people, Shout; for the LORD hath given you the city.

¹⁶Pada kali yang ketujuh, begitu para imam meniup trompetnya, Yosua memberi aba-aba kepada seluruh pasukan untuk bersorak. Yosua berkata, "TUHAN sudah menyerahkan kota ini kepadamu!

¹⁷And the city shall be accursed, even it, and all that are therein, to the LORD: only Rahab the harlot shall live, she and all that are with her in the house, because she hid the messengers that we sent.

¹⁷Seluruh kota dengan segala isinya harus dimusnahkan sama sekali sebagai persembahan untuk TUHAN. Hanya Rahab, wanita pelacur itu dengan kaum keluarganya saja boleh dibiarkan hidup, karena ia sudah menolong mata-mata kita.

¹⁸And ye, in any wise keep yourselves from the accursed thing, lest ye make yourselves accursed, when ye take of the accursed thing, and make the camp of Israel a curse, and trouble it.

¹⁸Tidak boleh mengambil sesuatu pun dari semua yang harus dimusnahkan. Kalau kalian mengambilnya, perkemahan Israel akan ditimpa celaka dan bencana.

¹⁹But all the silver, and gold, and vessels of brass and iron, are consecrated unto the LORD: they shall come into the treasury of the LORD.

¹⁹Semua barang perak, emas, tembaga, dan besi harus dikhususkan untuk TUHAN, dan disimpan di dalam tempat penyimpanan harta milik TUHAN."

²⁰So the people shouted when the priests blew with the trumpets: and it came to pass, when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell down flat, so that the people went up into the city, every man straight before him, and they took the city.

²⁰Lalu para imam meniup trompetnya. Dan begitu orang-orang Israel mendengar bunyi trompet itu, mereka bersorak kuat-kuat, lalu tembok kota Yerikho runtuh. Seluruh tentara Israel langsung naik, dan memasuki kota itu lalu merebutnya.

²¹And they utterly destroyed all that was in the city, both man and woman, young and old, and ox, and sheep, and ass, with the edge of the sword.

²¹Semua yang di dalam kota itu, tua muda, pria wanita, dibunuh dengan pedang. Segala ternak sapi, domba dan keledai pun dibunuh.

²²But Joshua had said unto the two men that had spied out the country, Go into the harlot's house, and bring out thence the woman, and all that she hath, as ye sware unto her.

²²Kepada kedua orang yang telah menjadi mata-mata, Yosua berkata, "Pergilah ke rumah wanita pelacur itu, dan bawalah dia keluar bersama-sama dengan keluarganya seperti yang sudah kalian janjikan kepadanya."

²³And the young men that were spies went in, and brought out Rahab, and her father, and her mother, and her brethren, and all that she had; and they brought out all her kindred, and left them without the camp of Israel.

²³Maka kedua mata-mata itu pergi, dan membawa keluar Rahab bersama dengan ayah ibunya, saudara-saudaranya, dan kaum keluarganya yang lain. Seluruh keluarga Rahab itu dengan hamba-hambanya dibawa keluar ke tempat yang aman dekat perkemahan Israel.

²⁴And they burnt the city with fire, and all that was therein: only the silver, and the gold, and the vessels of brass and of iron, they put into the treasury of the house of the LORD.

²⁴Kemudian tentara Israel membakar habis seluruh kota itu dengan segala sesuatu yang ada di dalamnya, kecuali barang-barang emas, perak, tembaga dan besi. Barang-barang itu mereka ambil dan bawa ke tempat penyimpanan harta milik TUHAN.

²⁵And Joshua saved Rahab the harlot alive, and her father's household, and all that she had; and she dwelleth in Israel even unto this day; because she hid the messengers, which Joshua sent to spy out Jericho.

²⁵Tetapi Rahab wanita pelacur itu dengan seluruh kaum keluarganya dibiarkan hidup oleh Yosua, karena ia sudah menolong kedua mata-mata yang diutus Yosua ke Yerikho. (Sampai pada hari ini keturunan Rahab masih ada di Israel.)

²⁶And Joshua adjured them at that time, saying, Cursed be the man before the LORD, that riseth up and buildeth this city Jericho: he shall lay the foundation thereof in his firstborn, and in his youngest son shall he set up the gates of it.

²⁶Pada waktu itu Yosua mengeluarkan larangan ini, "Siapa pun yang berusaha membangun kembali kota Yerikho ini, akan terkena kutukan TUHAN. Siapa yang meletakkan pondasinya akan kehilangan anak sulungnya; dan siapa yang memasang pintu-pintu gerbangnya akan kehilangan anak bungsunya."

²⁷So the LORD was with Joshua; and his fame was noised throughout all the country.

²⁷TUHAN menyertai Yosua, dan nama Yosua menjadi termasyhur di seluruh negeri itu.
