¹Hear me when I call, O God of my righteousness: thou hast enlarged me when I was in distress; have mercy upon me, and hear my prayer.

¹Untuk pemimpin kor. Dengan permainan kecapi. Mazmur Daud. (4-2) Ya Allah, Engkaulah pembelaku; jawablah bila aku berseru. Waktu aku susah, Engkau menolong aku; sekarang kasihanilah aku dan dengarlah doaku.

²O ye sons of men, how long will ye turn my glory into shame? how long will ye love vanity, and seek after leasing? Selah.

²(4-3) Hai orang-orang, berapa lama lagi kamu menghina Allahku? Sampai kapan kamu mencintai yang sia-sia dan mengejar yang tidak benar?

³But know that the LORD hath set apart him that is godly for himself: the LORD will hear when I call unto him.

³(4-4) Ketahuilah, TUHAN telah memilih bagi diri-Nya seorang yang dikasihi-Nya. TUHAN mendengarkan bila aku berseru kepada-Nya.

⁴Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah.

⁴(4-5) Gemetarlah ketakutan dan jangan berdosa lagi. Renungkanlah sambil berdiam diri, waktu berbaring di tempat tidur.

⁵Offer the sacrifices of righteousness, and put your trust in the LORD.

⁵(4-6) Persembahkanlah kurban yang benar dan percayalah kepada TUHAN.

⁶There be many that say, Who will shew us any good? LORD, lift thou up the light of thy countenance upon us.

⁶(4-7) Banyak orang bertanya, "Siapa yang akan memberkati kita?" Semoga Engkau berkenan kepada kami, ya TUHAN.

⁷Thou hast put gladness in my heart, more than in the time that their corn and their wine increased.

⁷(4-8) Engkau membuat hatiku lebih gembira daripada orang yang limpah panenannya.

⁸I will both lay me down in peace, and sleep: for thou, LORD, only makest me dwell in safety.

⁸(4-9) Maka aku berbaring dan tidur dengan tentram, sebab hanya Engkau, TUHAN, membuat hidupku aman!
