¹And after this it came to pass that David smote the Philistines, and subdued them: and David took Methegammah out of the hand of the Philistines.

¹この後ダビデはペリシテびとを撃って、これを征服した。ダビデはまたペリシテびとの手からメテグ・アンマを取った。

²And he smote Moab, and measured them with a line, casting them down to the ground; even with two lines measured he to put to death, and with one full line to keep alive. And so the Moabites became David's servants, and brought gifts.

²彼はまたモアブを撃ち、彼らを地に伏させ、なわをもって彼らを測った。すなわち二筋のなわをもって殺すべき者を測り、一筋のなわをもって生かしておく者を測った。そしてモアブびとは、ダビデのしもべとなって、みつぎを納めた。

³David smote also Hadadezer, the son of Rehob, king of Zobah, as he went to recover his border at the river Euphrates.

³ダビデはまたレホブの子であるゾバの王ハダデゼルが、ユフラテ川のほとりにその勢力を回復しようとして行くところを撃った。

⁴And David took from him a thousand chariots, and seven hundred horsemen, and twenty thousand footmen: and David houghed all the chariot horses, but reserved of them for an hundred chariots.

⁴そしてダビデは彼から騎兵千七百人、歩兵二万人を取った。ダビデはまた一百の戦車の馬を残して、そのほかの戦車の馬はみなその足の筋を切った。

⁵And when the Syrians of Damascus came to succor Hadadezer king of Zobah, David slew of the Syrians two and twenty thousand men.

⁵ダマスコのスリヤびとが、ゾバの王ハダデゼルを助けるためにきたので、ダビデはスリヤびと二万二千人を殺した。

⁶Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

⁶そしてダビデはダマスコのスリヤに守備隊を置いた。スリヤびとは、ダビデのしもべとなって、みつぎを納めた。主はダビデにすべてその行く所で勝利を与えられた。

⁷And David took the shields of gold that were on the servants of Hadadezer, and brought them to Jerusalem.

⁷ダビデはハダデゼルのしもべらが持っていた金の盾を奪って、エルサレムに持ってきた。

⁸And from Betah, and from Berothai, cities of Hadadezer, king David took exceeding much brass.

⁸ダビデ王はまたハダデゼルの町、ベタとベロタイから、ひじょうに多くの青銅を取った。

⁹When Toi king of Hamath heard that David had smitten all the host of Hadadezer,

⁹時にハマテの王トイは、ダビデがハダデゼルのすべての軍勢を撃ち破ったことを聞き、

¹⁰Then Toi sent Joram his son unto king David, to salute him, and to bless him, because he had fought against Hadadezer, and smitten him: for Hadadezer had wars with Toi. And Joram brought with him vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and vessels of brass:

¹⁰その子ヨラムをダビデ王のもとにつかわして、彼にあいさつし、かつ祝を述べさせた。ハダデゼルはかつてしばしばトイと戦いを交えたが、ダビデがハダデゼルと戦ってこれを撃ち破ったからである。ヨラムが銀の器と金の器と青銅の器を携えてきたので、

¹¹Which also king David did dedicate unto the LORD, with the silver and gold that he had dedicated of all nations which he subdued;

¹¹ダビデ王は征服したすべての国民から取ってささげた金銀と共にこれらをも主にささげた。

¹²Of Syria, and of Moab, and of the children of Ammon, and of the Philistines, and of Amalek, and of the spoil of Hadadezer, son of Rehob, king of Zobah.

¹²すなわちエドム、モアブ、アンモンの人々、ペリシテびと、アマレクから獲た物、およびゾバの王レホブの子ハダデゼルから獲たぶんどり物と共にこれをささげた。

¹³And David gat him a name when he returned from smiting of the Syrians in the valley of salt, being eighteen thousand men.

¹³こうしてダビデは名声を得た。彼は帰ってきてから塩の谷でエドムびと一万八千人を撃ち殺した。

¹⁴And he put garrisons in Edom; throughout all Edom put he garrisons, and all they of Edom became David's servants. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

¹⁴そしてエドムに守備隊を置いた。すなわちエドムの全地に守備隊を置き、エドムびとは皆ダビデのしもべとなった。主はダビデにすべてその行く所で勝利を与えられた。

¹⁵And David reigned over all Israel; and David executed judgment and justice unto all his people.

¹⁵こうしてダビデはイスラエルの全地を治め、そのすべての民に正義と公平を行った。

¹⁶And Joab the son of Zeruiah was over the host; and Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud was recorder;

¹⁶ゼルヤの子ヨアブは軍の長、アヒルデの子ヨシャパテは史官、

¹⁷And Zadok the son of Ahitub, and Ahimelech the son of Abiathar, were the priests; and Seraiah was the scribe;

¹⁷アヒトブの子ザドクとアビヤタルの子アヒメレクは祭司、セラヤは書記官、エホヤダの子ベナヤはケレテびととペレテびとの長、ダビデの子たちは祭司であった。

¹⁸And Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over both the Cherethites and the Pelethites; and David's sons were chief rulers.
