¹O israel, return unto the LORD thy God; for thou hast fallen by thine iniquity.

¹イスラエルよ、あなたの神、主に帰れ。あなたは自分の不義によって、つまずいたからだ。

²Take with you words, and turn to the LORD: say unto him, Take away all iniquity, and receive us graciously: so will we render the calves of our lips.

²あなたがたは言葉を携えて、主に帰って言え、「不義はことごとくゆるして、よきものを受けいれてください。わたしたちは自分のくちびるの実をささげます。

³Asshur shall not save us; we will not ride upon horses: neither will we say any more to the work of our hands, Ye are our gods: for in thee the fatherless findeth mercy.

³アッスリヤはわたしたちを助けず、わたしたちは馬に乗りません。わたしたちはもはや自分たちの手のわざに向かって『われわれの神』とは言いません。みなしごはあなたによって、あわれみを得るでしょう」。

⁴I will heal their backsliding, I will love them freely: for mine anger is turned away from him.

⁴わたしは彼らのそむきをいやし、喜んでこれを愛する。わたしの怒りは彼らを離れ去ったからである。

⁵I will be as the dew unto Israel: he shall grow as the lily, and cast forth his roots as Lebanon.

⁵わたしはイスラエルに対しては露のようになる。彼はゆりのように花咲き、ポプラのように根を張り、

⁶His branches shall spread, and his beauty shall be as the olive tree, and his smell as Lebanon.

⁶その枝は茂りひろがり、その麗しさはオリブの木のように、そのかんばしさはレバノンのようになる。

⁷They that dwell under his shadow shall return; they shall revive as the corn, and grow as the vine: the scent thereof shall be as the wine of Lebanon.

⁷彼らは帰って来て、わが陰に住み、園のように栄え、ぶどうの木のように花咲き、そのかんばしさはレバノンの酒のようになる。

⁸Ephraim shall say, What have I to do any more with idols? I have heard him, and observed him: I am like a green fir tree. From me is thy fruit found.

⁸エフライムよ、わたしは偶像となんの係わりがあろうか。あなたに答え、あなたを顧みる者はわたしである。わたしは緑のいとすぎのようだ。あなたはわたしから実を得る。知恵のある者はだれか。その人にこれらのことを悟らせよ。悟りある者はだれか。その人にこれらのことを知らせよ。主の道は直く、正しき者はこれを歩む。しかし罪びとはこれにつまずく。

⁹Who is wise, and he shall understand these things? prudent, and he shall know them? for the ways of the LORD are right, and the just shall walk in them: but the transgressors shall fall therein.

⁹知恵のある者はだれか。その人にこれらのことを悟らせよ。悟りある者はだれか。その人にこれらのことを知らせよ。主の道は直く、正しき者はこれを歩む。しかし罪びとはこれにつまずく。
