²Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

²あなたがたは木のない山に旗を立て、声をあげて彼らを招き、手を振って彼らを貴族の門に、はいらせよ。

³I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.

³わたしはわが怒りのさばきを行うために聖別した者どもに命じ、わが勇士、わが勝ち誇る者どもを招いた。

⁴The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

⁴聞け、多くの民のような騒ぎ声が山々に聞える。聞け、もろもろの国々、寄りつどえるもろもろの国民のざわめく声が聞える。これは万軍の主が戦いのために軍勢を集められるのだ。

⁵They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

⁵彼らは遠い国から、天の果から来る。これは、主とその憤りの器で、全地を滅ぼすために来るのだ。

⁶Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

⁶あなたがたは泣き叫べ。主の日が近づき、滅びが全能者から来るからだ。

⁷Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:

⁷それゆえ、すべての手は弱り、すべての人の心は溶け去る。

⁸And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.

⁸彼らは恐れおののき、苦しみと悩みに捕えられ、子を産まんとする女のようにもだえ苦しみ、互に驚き、顔を見あわせ、その顔は炎のようになる。

⁹Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

⁹見よ、主の日が来る。残忍で、憤りと激しい怒りとをもってこの地を荒し、その中から罪びとを断ち滅ぼすために来る。

¹⁰For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

¹⁰天の星とその星座とはその光を放たず、太陽は出ても暗く、月はその光を輝かさない。

¹¹And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

¹¹わたしはその悪のために世を罰し、その不義のために悪い者を罰し、高ぶる者の誇をとどめ、あらぶる者の高慢を低くする。

¹²I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

¹³Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

¹³それゆえ、万軍の主の憤りにより、その激しい怒りの日に、天は震い、地は揺り動いて、その所をはなれる。

¹⁴And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.

¹⁴彼らは追われた、かもしかのように、あるいは集める者のない羊のようになって、おのおの自分の民に帰り、自分の国に逃げて行く。

¹⁵Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.

¹⁵すべて見いだされる者は刺され、すべて捕えられる者はつるぎによって倒され、

¹⁶Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

¹⁶彼らのみどりごはその目の前で投げ砕かれ、その家はかすめ奪われ、その妻は汚される。

¹⁷Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

¹⁷見よ、わたしは、しろがねをも顧みず、こがねをも喜ばないメデアびとを起して、彼らにむかわせる。

¹⁸Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children.

¹⁸彼らの弓は若い者を射殺し、腹の実をあわれむことなく、幼な子を見て、惜しむことがない。

¹⁹And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

¹⁹国々の誉であり、カルデヤびとの誇である麗しいバビロンは、神に滅ぼされたソドム、ゴモラのようになる。

²⁰It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.

²⁰ここにはながく住む者が絶え、世々にいたるまで住みつく者がなく、アラビヤびともそこに天幕を張らず、羊飼もそこに群れを伏させることがない。

²¹But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.

²¹ただ、野の獣がそこに伏し、ほえる獣がその家に満ち、だちょうがそこに住み、鬼神がそこに踊る。ハイエナはその城の中で鳴き、山犬は楽しい宮殿でほえる。その時の来るのは近い、その日は延びることがない。

²²And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.
