¹The wilderness and the solitary place shall be glad for them; and the desert shall rejoice, and blossom as the rose.

¹荒野と、かわいた地とは楽しみ、さばくは喜びて花咲き、さふらんのように、

²It shall blossom abundantly, and rejoice even with joy and singing: the glory of Lebanon shall be given unto it, the excellency of Carmel and Sharon, they shall see the glory of the LORD, and the excellency of our God.

²さかんに花咲き、かつ喜び楽しみ、かつ歌う。これにレバノンの栄えが与えられ、カルメルおよびシャロンの麗しさが与えられる。彼らは主の栄光を見、われわれの神の麗しさを見る。

³Strengthen ye the weak hands, and confirm the feeble knees.

³あなたがたは弱った手を強くし、よろめくひざを健やかにせよ。

⁴Say to them that are of a fearful heart, Be strong, fear not: behold, your God will come with vengeance, even God with a recompence; he will come and save you.

⁴心おののく者に言え、「強くあれ、恐れてはならない。見よ、あなたがたの神は報復をもって臨み、神の報いをもってこられる。神は来て、あなたがたを救われる」と。

⁵Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened, and the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.

⁵その時、目しいの目は開かれ、耳しいの耳はあけられる。

⁶Then shall the lame man leap as an hart, and the tongue of the dumb sing: for in the wilderness shall waters break out, and streams in the desert.

⁶その時、足なえは、しかのように飛び走り、おしの舌は喜び歌う。それは荒野に水がわきいで、さばくに川が流れるからである。

⁷And the parched ground shall become a pool, and the thirsty land springs of water: in the habitation of dragons, where each lay, shall be grass with reeds and rushes.

⁷焼けた砂は池となり、かわいた地は水の源となり、山犬の伏したすみかは、葦、よしの茂りあう所となる。

⁸And an highway shall be there, and a way, and it shall be called The way of holiness; the unclean shall not pass over it; but it shall be for those: the wayfaring men, though fools, shall not err therein.

⁸そこに大路があり、その道は聖なる道ととなえられる。汚れた者はこれを通り過ぎることはできない、愚かなる者はそこに迷い入ることはない。

⁹No lion shall be there, nor any ravenous beast shall go up thereon, it shall not be found there; but the redeemed shall walk there:

⁹そこには、ししはおらず、飢えた獣も、その道にのぼることはなく、その所でこれに会うことはない。ただ、あがなわれた者のみ、そこを歩む。主にあがなわれた者は帰ってきて、その頭に、とこしえの喜びをいただき、歌うたいつつ、シオンに来る。彼らは楽しみと喜びとを得、悲しみと嘆きとは逃げ去る。

¹⁰And the ransomed of the LORD shall return, and come to Zion with songs and everlasting joy upon their heads: they shall obtain joy and gladness, and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

¹⁰主にあがなわれた者は帰ってきて、その頭に、とこしえの喜びをいただき、歌うたいつつ、シオンに来る。彼らは楽しみと喜びとを得、悲しみと嘆きとは逃げ去る。
