¹And he entered into a ship, and passed over, and came into his own city.

¹さて、イエスは舟に乗って海を渡り、自分の町に帰られた。

²And, behold, they brought to him a man sick of the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus seeing their faith said unto the sick of the palsy; Son, be of good cheer; thy sins be forgiven thee.

²すると、人々が中風の者を床の上に寝かせたままでみもとに運んできた。イエスは彼らの信仰を見て、中風の者に、「子よ、しっかりしなさい。あなたの罪はゆるされたのだ」と言われた。

³And, behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth.

³すると、ある律法学者たちが心の中で言った、「この人は神を汚している」。

⁴And Jesus knowing their thoughts said, Wherefore think ye evil in your hearts?

⁴イエスは彼らの考えを見抜いて、「なぜ、あなたがたは心の中で悪いことを考えているのか。

⁵For whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk?

⁵あなたの罪はゆるされた、と言うのと、起きて歩け、と言うのと、どちらがたやすいか。

⁶But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick of the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go unto thine house.

⁶しかし、人の子は地上で罪をゆるす権威をもっていることが、あなたがたにわかるために」と言い、中風の者にむかって、「起きよ、床を取りあげて家に帰れ」と言われた。

⁷And he arose, and departed to his house.

⁷すると彼は起きあがり、家に帰って行った。

⁸But when the multitudes saw it, they marvelled, and glorified God, which had given such power unto men.

⁸群衆はそれを見て恐れ、こんな大きな権威を人にお与えになった神をあがめた。

⁹And as Jesus passed forth from thence, he saw a man, named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith unto him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

⁹さてイエスはそこから進んで行かれ、マタイという人が収税所にすわっているのを見て、「わたしに従ってきなさい」と言われた。すると彼は立ちあがって、イエスに従った。

¹⁰And it came to pass, as Jesus sat at meat in the house, behold, many publicans and sinners came and sat down with him and his disciples.

¹⁰それから、イエスが家で食事の席についておられた時のことである。多くの取税人や罪人たちがきて、イエスや弟子たちと共にその席に着いていた。

¹¹And when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto his disciples, Why eateth your Master with publicans and sinners?

¹¹パリサイ人たちはこれを見て、弟子たちに言った、「なぜ、あなたがたの先生は、取税人や罪人などと食事を共にするのか」。

¹²But when Jesus heard that, he said unto them, They that be whole need not a physician, but they that are sick.

¹²イエスはこれを聞いて言われた、「丈夫な人には医者はいらない。いるのは病人である。

¹³But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

¹³『わたしが好むのは、あわれみであって、いけにえではない』とはどういう意味か、学んできなさい。わたしがきたのは、義人を招くためではなく、罪人を招くためである」。

¹⁴Then came to him the disciples of John, saying, Why do we and the Pharisees fast oft, but thy disciples fast not?

¹⁴そのとき、ヨハネの弟子たちがイエスのところにきて言った、「わたしたちとパリサイ人たちとが断食をしているのに、あなたの弟子たちは、なぜ断食をしないのですか」。

¹⁵And Jesus said unto them, Can the children of the bridechamber mourn, as long as the bridegroom is with them? but the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken from them, and then shall they fast.

¹⁵するとイエスは言われた、「婚礼の客は、花婿が一緒にいる間は、悲しんでおられようか。しかし、花婿が奪い去られる日が来る。その時には断食をするであろう。

¹⁶No man putteth a piece of new cloth unto an old garment, for that which is put in to fill it up taketh from the garment, and the rent is made worse.

¹⁶だれも、真新しい布ぎれで、古い着物につぎを当てはしない。そのつぎきれは着物を引き破り、そして、破れがもっとひどくなるから。

¹⁷Neither do men put new wine into old bottles: else the bottles break, and the wine runneth out, and the bottles perish: but they put new wine into new bottles, and both are preserved.

¹⁷だれも、新しいぶどう酒を古い皮袋に入れはしない。もしそんなことをしたら、その皮袋は張り裂け、酒は流れ出るし、皮袋もむだになる。だから、新しいぶどう酒は新しい皮袋に入れるべきである。そうすれば両方とも長もちがするであろう」。

¹⁸While he spake these things unto them, behold, there came a certain ruler, and worshipped him, saying, My daughter is even now dead: but come and lay thy hand upon her, and she shall live.

¹⁸これらのことを彼らに話しておられると、そこにひとりの会堂司がきて、イエスを拝して言った、「わたしの娘がただ今死にました。しかしおいでになって手をその上においてやって下さい。そうしたら、娘は生き返るでしょう」。

¹⁹And Jesus arose, and followed him, and so did his disciples.

¹⁹そこで、イエスが立って彼について行かれると、弟子たちも一緒に行った。

²⁰And, behold, a woman, which was diseased with an issue of blood twelve years, came behind him, and touched the hem of his garment:

²⁰するとそのとき、十二年間も長血をわずらっている女が近寄ってきて、イエスのうしろからみ衣のふさにさわった。

²¹For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole.

²¹み衣にさわりさえすれば、なおしていただけるだろう、と心の中で思っていたからである。

²²But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

²²イエスは振り向いて、この女を見て言われた、「娘よ、しっかりしなさい。あなたの信仰があなたを救ったのです」。するとこの女はその時に、いやされた。

²³And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise,

²³それからイエスは司の家に着き、笛吹きどもや騒いでいる群衆を見て言われた。

²⁴He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn.

²⁴「あちらへ行っていなさい。少女は死んだのではない。眠っているだけである」。すると人々はイエスをあざ笑った。

²⁵But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose.

²⁵しかし、群衆を外へ出したのち、イエスは内へはいって、少女の手をお取りになると、少女は起きあがった。

²⁶And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land.

²⁶そして、そのうわさがこの地方全体にひろまった。

²⁷And when Jesus departed thence, two blind men followed him, crying, and saying, Thou son of David, have mercy on us.

²⁷そこから進んで行かれると、ふたりの盲人が、「ダビデの子よ、わたしたちをあわれんで下さい」と叫びながら、イエスについてきた。

²⁸And when he was come into the house, the blind men came to him: and Jesus saith unto them, Believe ye that I am able to do this? They said unto him, Yea, Lord.

²⁸そしてイエスが家にはいられると、盲人たちがみもとにきたので、彼らに「わたしにそれができると信じるか」と言われた。彼らは言った、「主よ、信じます」。

²⁹Then touched he their eyes, saying, According to your faith be it unto you.

²⁹そこで、イエスは彼らの目にさわって言われた、「あなたがたの信仰どおり、あなたがたの身になるように」。

³⁰And their eyes were opened; and Jesus straitly charged them, saying, See that no man know it.

³⁰すると彼らの目が開かれた。イエスは彼らをきびしく戒めて言われた、「だれにも知れないように気をつけなさい」。

³¹But they, when they were departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country.

³¹しかし、彼らは出て行って、その地方全体にイエスのことを言いひろめた。

³²As they went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a devil.

³²彼らが出て行くと、人々は悪霊につかれたおしをイエスのところに連れてきた。

³³And when the devil was cast out, the dumb spake: and the multitudes marvelled, saying, It was never so seen in Israel.

³³すると、悪霊は追い出されて、おしが物を言うようになった。群衆は驚いて、「このようなことがイスラエルの中で見られたことは、これまで一度もなかった」と言った。

³⁴But the Pharisees said, He casteth out devils through the prince of the devils.

³⁴しかし、パリサイ人たちは言った、「彼は、悪霊どものかしらによって悪霊どもを追い出しているのだ」。

³⁵And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people.

³⁵イエスは、すべての町々村々を巡り歩いて、諸会堂で教え、御国の福音を宣べ伝え、あらゆる病気、あらゆるわずらいをおいやしになった。

³⁶But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, because they fainted, and were scattered abroad, as sheep having no shepherd.

³⁶また群衆が飼う者のない羊のように弱り果てて、倒れているのをごらんになって、彼らを深くあわれまれた。

³⁷Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;

³⁷そして弟子たちに言われた、「収穫は多いが、働き人が少ない。だから、収穫の主に願って、その収穫のために働き人を送り出すようにしてもらいなさい」。

³⁸Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest.

³⁸だから、収穫の主に願って、その収穫のために働き人を送り出すようにしてもらいなさい」。
