¹Be merciful unto me, O God: for man would swallow me up; he fighting daily oppresseth me.

¹神よ、どうかわたしをあわれんでください。人々がわたしを踏みつけ、あだする人々がひねもすわたしをしえたげます。

²Mine enemies would daily swallow me up: for they be many that fight against me, O thou most High.

²わたしの敵はひねもすわたしを踏みつけ、誇りたかぶって、わたしと戦う者が多いのです。

³What time I am afraid, I will trust in thee.

³わたしが恐れるときは、あなたに寄り頼みます。

⁴In God I will praise his word, in God I have put my trust; I will not fear what flesh can do unto me.

⁴わたしは神によって、そのみ言葉をほめたたえます。わたしは神に信頼するゆえ、恐れることはありません。肉なる者はわたしに何をなし得ましょうか。

⁵Every day they wrest my words: all their thoughts are against me for evil.

⁵彼らはひねもすわたしの事を妨害し、その思いはことごとくわたしにわざわいします。

⁶They gather themselves together, they hide themselves, they mark my steps, when they wait for my soul.

⁶彼らは共に集まって身をひそめ、わたしの歩みに目をとめ、わたしのいのちをうかがい求めます。

⁷Shall they escape by iniquity? in thine anger cast down the people, O God.

⁷神よ、彼らにその罪を報い、憤りをもってもろもろの民を倒してください。

⁸Thou tellest my wanderings: put thou my tears into thy bottle: are they not in thy book?

⁸あなたはわたしのさすらいを数えられました。わたしの涙をあなたの皮袋にたくわえてください。これは皆あなたの書にしるされているではありませんか。

⁹When I cry unto thee, then shall mine enemies turn back: this I know; for God is for me.

⁹わたしが呼び求める日に、わたしの敵は退きます。これによって神がわたしを守られることを知ります。

¹⁰In God will I praise his word: in the LORD will I praise his word.

¹⁰わたしは神によってそのみ言葉をほめたたえ、主によってそのみ言葉をほめたたえます。

¹¹In God have I put my trust: I will not be afraid what man can do unto me.

¹¹わたしは神に信頼するゆえ、恐れることはありません。人はわたしに何をなし得ましょうか。

¹²Thy vows are upon me, O God: I will render praises unto thee.

¹²神よ、わたしがあなたに立てた誓いは果さなければなりません。わたしは感謝の供え物をあなたにささげます。あなたはわたしの魂を死から救い、わたしの足を守って倒れることなく、いのちの光のうちで神の前にわたしを歩ませられたからです。

¹³For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?
