¹The word of the LORD came unto me again, saying,

²What mean ye, that ye use this proverb concerning the land of Israel, saying, The fathers have eaten sour grapes, and the children's teeth are set on edge?

²—¿Cßaßru nequecßoxla chirix li jaljôquil ru âtin aßin li yôqueb chixyebal chirixeb laj Israel? Li naßbej yucuaßbej nequeßxlou li uvas rare ut aß chic lix cocßaleb nequeßecßan lix rahil re.

³As I live, saith the Lord GOD, ye shall not have occasion any more to use this proverb in Israel.

³Lâin li yoßyôquil Dios ninye êre nak chi yâl mâ jun cua chic tâyemânk li jaljôquil ru âtin aßin saß li naßajej Israel.

⁴Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine: the soul that sinneth, it shall die.

⁴Chixjunileb li cristian cueheb lâin joß li naßbej yucuaßbej joß eb ajcuiß li alal cßajolbej. Ut li ani namâcob, aßan tâcâmk.

⁵But if a man be just, and do that which is lawful and right,

⁵Cui junak li cuînk tîc xchßôl, aßan nacuan saß tîquilal ut naxbânu li us.

⁶And hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, neither hath defiled his neighbour's wife, neither hath come near to a menstruous woman,

⁶Incßaß naxlokßoniheb li yîbanbil dios li cuanqueb Israel, chi moco naxcuaß li tzacaêmk mayejanbil saß li tzûl. Incßaß naxchßic rib riqßuin rixakil li ras rîtzßin, chi moco nacuan riqßuin li rixakil nak yô xyajel re li po.

⁷And hath not oppressed any, but hath restored to the debtor his pledge, hath spoiled none by violence, hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment;

⁷Mâ ani naxrahobtesi chi moco na-elkßac. Naxkßaxtesi li nequeßxcanab riqßuin chokß xprenda li ani natoßonin. Naxqßue xtzacaêmk li tâtzßocâk ut naxqßue rakß li mâcßaß rakß.

⁸He that hath not given forth upon usury, neither hath taken any increase, that hath withdrawn his hand from iniquity, hath executed true judgment between man and man,

⁸Incßaß naxpatzß ral lix tumin li naxqßue chi toß. Incßaß naxsicß xbiomal riqßuin xtoßoninquil tumin. Incßaß naxcßûluban xchßôl xbânunquil li mâusilal ut narakoc âtin saß xyâlal nak cuan junak chßaßajquilal.

⁹Hath walked in my statutes, and hath kept my judgments, to deal truly; he is just, he shall surely live, saith the Lord GOD.

⁹Li jun aßan naxpâb lin chakßrab ut naxqßue xchßôl chixbânunquil li ninye. Aßan tîc xchßôl ut tâcuânk xyußam, chan li Kâcuaß Dios.

¹⁰If he beget a son that is a robber, a shedder of blood, and that doeth the like to any one of these things,

¹⁰Mâre li cuînk li tîc xchßôl cuan junak li ralal aj êlkß nacamsin ut naxbânu li incßaß us li mâ jun sut quixbânu li yucuaßbej.

¹¹And that doeth not any of those duties, but even hath eaten upon the mountains, and defiled his neighbour's wife,

¹¹Ut mâre naxtzaca li tzacaêmk mayejanbil saß eb li tzûl chiruheb li jalanil dios, ut naxchßic rib riqßuin li rixakil li ras rîtzßin.

¹²Hath oppressed the poor and needy, hath spoiled by violence, hath not restored the pledge, and hath lifted up his eyes to the idols, hath committed abomination,

¹²Mâre naxrahobtesiheb li nebaß ut li tenkßâc teßraj ut na-elkßâc. Incßaß naxkßaxtesi li cßaßru quiqßueheß re chokß prenda. Naxlokßoniheb li jalanil dios ut naxbânu li mâusilal.

¹³Hath given forth upon usury, and hath taken increase: shall he then live? he shall not live: he hath done all these abominations; he shall surely die; his blood shall be upon him.

¹³Naxpatzß nabal li ral li tumin li naxqßue chi toß. ¿Ma tâcanâk ta biß chi yoßyo li alalbej aßan? Incßaß. Aßan tâcamsîk xban li mâusilal li quixbânu ut xcßulub nak tâcamsîk.

¹⁴Now, lo, if he beget a son, that seeth all his father's sins which he hath done, and considereth, and doeth not such like,

¹⁴Mâre li cuînk li incßaß us xnaßleb cuan junak li ralal naxqßue retal nak incßaß us naxbânu lix yucuaß. Ut li alalbej incßaß tixbânu joß naxbânu lix yucuaß.

¹⁵That hath not eaten upon the mountains, neither hath lifted up his eyes to the idols of the house of Israel, hath not defiled his neighbour's wife,

¹⁵Incßaß naxcuaß li tzacaêmk mayejanbil saß eb li tzûl chiruheb li jalanil dios, chi moco tixlokßoniheb li jalanil dios li cuanqueb Israel. Ut incßaß tixchßic rib riqßuin rixakil li ras rîtzßin.

¹⁶Neither hath oppressed any, hath not withholden the pledge, neither hath spoiled by violence, but hath given his bread to the hungry, and hath covered the naked with a garment,

¹⁶Incßaß naxrahobtesiheb li ras rîtzßin ut naxkßaxtesi li cßaßru naqßueheß re chokß prenda. Incßaß na-elkßac. Naxqßue xcuaheb li nequeßtzßoca ut naxqßueheb rakß li mâcßaß rakßeb.

¹⁷That hath taken off his hand from the poor, that hath not received usury nor increase, hath executed my judgments, hath walked in my statutes; he shall not die for the iniquity of his father, he shall surely live.

¹⁷Incßaß naxcßûluban xchßôl xbânunquil li mâusilal ut incßaß naxpatzß ral li tumin li naxqßue chi toß. Naxbânu li cßaßru naxye saß lin chakßrab ut naxbânu li cßaßru ninye. Li alalbej aßan incßaß tâcâmk xban li mâc quixbânu lix yucuaß. Tâcuânk ban xyußam.

¹⁸As for his father, because he cruelly oppressed, spoiled his brother by violence, and did that which is not good among his people, lo, even he shall die in his iniquity.

¹⁸Li yucuaßbej tâcâmk xban li mâc li quixbânu nak quixmakß chiru li ras rîtzßin li cßaßru cuan reheb ut qui-elkßâc. Quixbânu li mâusilal reheb li ras rîtzßin.

¹⁹Yet say ye, Why? doth not the son bear the iniquity of the father? When the son hath done that which is lawful and right, and hath kept all my statutes, and hath done them, he shall surely live.

¹⁹Mâre lâex têye, “¿Cßaßut nak li alalbej incßaß tâtzßakônk riqßuin li raylal li tixcßul li yucuaßbej?” Li alalbej incßaß tâcâmk xban nak quixbânu li us ut quicuan saß tîquilal ut quixbânu li cßaßru naxye saß lin chakßrab. Joßcan nak tâcuânk lix yußam.

²⁰The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

²⁰Li ani tâmâcobk, aßan tâcâmk. Li alalbej incßaß tixcßul li raylal saß xcßabaß li mâc li quixbânu lix yucuaß. Chi moco li yucuaßbej tixcßul li raylal saß xcßabaß li mâc li quixbânu li ralal. Li ani nacuan saß tîquilal tixcßul lix kßajcâmunquil ut li ani naxbânu li mâc tixcßul lix tojbal mâc.

²¹But if the wicked will turn from all his sins that he hath committed, and keep all my statutes, and do that which is lawful and right, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

²¹Cui li cuînk li incßaß us xnaßleb tixcanab li mâcobc ut tixpâb lin chakßrab ut tixbânu li tîquilal ut li us, aßan incßaß tâcâmk. Tâcuânk ban xyußam.

²²All his transgressions that he hath committed, they shall not be mentioned unto him: in his righteousness that he hath done he shall live.

²²Chixjunil li mâc li quixbânu chak junxil incßaß tâjulticokß re li Dios ut incßaß tâcamsîk xban nak quixjal xnaßleb ut quixbânu li us.

²³Have I any pleasure at all that the wicked should die? saith the Lord GOD: and not that he should return from his ways, and live?

²³Li nimajcual Dios quixye: —¿Ma nasahoß ta biß inchßôl nak junak tâcâmk xban li mâusilal li quixbânu? Incßaß. Nasahoß ban saß inchßôl nak naxjal xcßaßux ut naxcanab xbânunquil li mâusilal ut tâcuânk xyußam.

²⁴But when the righteous turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and doeth according to all the abominations that the wicked man doeth, shall he live? All his righteousness that he hath done shall not be mentioned: in his trespass that he hath trespassed, and in his sin that he hath sinned, in them shall he die.

²⁴Abanan cui junak tîc xchßôl tixjal xnaßleb ut tixbânu li mâusilal li nequeßxbânu li incßaß useb xnaßleb, li jun aßan tâcâmk. Ut incßaß tixcßul xkßajcâmunquil li us li quixbânu junxil. Tâcâmk xban li mâc li quixbânu ut xban nak quixkßetkßeti rib.

²⁵Yet ye say, The way of the LORD is not equal. Hear now, O house of Israel; Is not my way equal? are not your ways unequal?

²⁵Ut cui lâex têye nak moco tîc ta li cßaßru yôquin chixbânunquil, lâin li Kâcuaß tinye êre: Abihomak lâex aj Israel. ¿Ma yâl nak moco tîc ta li cßaßru yôquin chixbânunquil? ¿Ma mâcuaß ta biß lâex li incßaß nequexcuan saß tîquilal?

²⁶When a righteous man turneth away from his righteousness, and committeth iniquity, and dieth in them; for his iniquity that he hath done shall he die.

²⁶Cui li tîc xchßôl tixcanab cuânc saß tîquilal ut tixbânu li mâusilal, aßan tâcâmk saß xcßabaß li mâusilal li quixbânu. Xmâc li mâusilal li yôk chixbânunquil tâcâmk.

²⁷Again, when the wicked man turneth away from his wickedness that he hath committed, and doeth that which is lawful and right, he shall save his soul alive.

²⁷Cui junak yô chixbânunquil li mâusilal tixjal xcßaßux ut tixbânu li us ut tâcuânk saß tîquilal, li jun aßan tixcol rix lix yußam.

²⁸Because he considereth, and turneth away from all his transgressions that he hath committed, he shall surely live, he shall not die.

²⁸Xban nak quixqßue retal nak moco us ta nak yô chi kßetoc âtin, joßcan nak quixcanab xbânunquil li mâusilal. Relic chi yâl li jun aßan tâcuânk xyußam. Incßaß tâcâmk.

²⁹Yet saith the house of Israel, The way of the LORD is not equal. O house of Israel, are not my ways equal? are not your ways unequal?

²⁹Ut cui lâex aj Israel têye nak moco tîc ta li cßaßru yôquin chixbânunquil, lâin li Kâcuaß tinye: ¿Ma yâl nak moco tîc ta li cßaßru yôquin chixbânunquil? ¿Ma mâcuaß ta biß lâex li incßaß nequexcuan saß tîquilal?

³⁰Therefore I will judge you, O house of Israel, every one according to his ways, saith the Lord GOD. Repent, and turn yourselves from all your transgressions; so iniquity shall not be your ruin.

³¹Cast away from you all your transgressions, whereby ye have transgressed; and make you a new heart and a new spirit: for why will ye die, O house of Israel?

³¹Canabomak chixjunil lê kßetba âtin li xexmâcob cuiß. Jalomak êcßaßux ut acßak chic lê yußam. ¿Cßaßut nak têqßue êrib chi câmc xban lê mâc, ex aj Israel?Lâin mâ jun êre nacuaj tâcâmk. Jalomak ban lê cßaßux ut tâcuânk lê yußam, chan li nimajcual Dios.

³²For I have no pleasure in the death of him that dieth, saith the Lord GOD: wherefore turn yourselves, and live ye.

³²Lâin mâ jun êre nacuaj tâcâmk. Jalomak ban lê cßaßux ut tâcuânk lê yußam, chan li nimajcual Dios.
