¹And the LORD spake unto Moses in the plains of Moab by Jordan near Jericho, saying,

²Command the children of Israel, that they give unto the Levites of the inheritance of their possession cities to dwell in; and ye shall give also unto the Levites suburbs for the cities round about them.

²—Tâye reheb laj Israel nak teßxqßue xtenamiteb laj levita re teßcuânk cuiß saß li naßajej li teßxcßul. Ut teßxqßue ajcuiß xnaßajeb lix quetômk chi xjun sutam lix tenamiteb.

³And the cities shall they have to dwell in; and the suburbs of them shall be for their cattle, and for their goods, and for all their beasts.

³Tento nak tâcuânk lix tenamiteb li teßcuânk cuiß ut tâcuânk ajcuiß lix naßajeb lix cuacax, lix carner ut chixjunil lix quetômkeb.

⁴And the suburbs of the cities, which ye shall give unto the Levites, shall reach from the wall of the city and outward a thousand cubits round about.

⁴Li cßalebâl li têqßue reheb laj levita, aßan câhib ciento riqßuin lajêb roxcßâl metro chirix li tzßac li sutsûqueb cuiß lix tenamiteb.

⁵And ye shall measure from without the city on the east side two thousand cubits, and on the south side two thousand cubits, and on the west side two thousand cubits, and on the north side two thousand cubits; and the city shall be in the midst: this shall be to them the suburbs of the cities.

⁶And among the cities which ye shall give unto the Levites there shall be six cities for refuge, which ye shall appoint for the manslayer, that he may flee thither: and to them ye shall add forty and two cities.

⁶Têqßue cuakib li tenamit reheb laj levita re teßxcol cuiß ribeb laj Israel cui xeßxcamsi ras rîtzßin chi incßaß yal xraj xchßôl. Ut têqßue ajcuiß cuib roxcßâl chic li tenamit reheb.

⁷So all the cities which ye shall give to the Levites shall be forty and eight cities: them shall ye give with their suburbs.

⁷Cuakxakib roxcßâl chixjunileb li tenamit li teßqßuehekß reheb laj levita rochbeneb lix naßajeb lix quetômk.

⁸And the cities which ye shall give shall be of the possession of the children of Israel: from them that have many ye shall give many; but from them that have few ye shall give few: every one shall give of his cities unto the Levites according to his inheritance which he inheriteth.

⁸Li tenamit li teßqßuehekß reheb laj levita, aß yal joß qßuial li chßochß li xeßxcßul li junjûnk xtêpaleb laj Israel. Cui jun xtêpaleb laj Israel nabal li chßochß xeßxcßul, nabal ajcuiß li teßxqßue reheb laj levita. Cui incßaß qßui, incßaß ajcuiß qßui li teßxqßue reheb laj levita.—

⁹And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

⁹Li Kâcuaß quiâtinac riqßuin laj Moisés ut quixye re:

¹⁰Speak unto the children of Israel, and say unto them, When ye be come over Jordan into the land of Canaan;

¹⁰—Tat-âtinak riqßuineb laj Israel ut tâye reheb chi joßcaßin: nak ac xexnumeß jun pacßal li nimaß Jordán nak tex-oc saß li naßajej Canaán,

¹¹Then ye shall appoint you cities to be cities of refuge for you; that the slayer may flee thither, which killeth any person at unawares.

¹¹têsicß ruheb li tenamit li teßxcol cuiß ribeb li ani naxcamsi ras rîtzßin chi incßaß yal naraj xchßôl.

¹²And they shall be unto you cities for refuge from the avenger; that the manslayer die not, until he stand before the congregation in judgment.

¹²Saß li tenamit aßan naru teßxcol ribeb li teßcamsînk chiruheb li rechßalal li camenak toj târakekß âtin saß xbêneb xbaneb laj Israel.

¹³And of these cities which ye shall give six cities shall ye have for refuge.

¹³Saß xyânkeb li tenamit tâqßuehekß reheb laj levita tâcuânk cuakib li tenamit li teßxcol cuiß ribeb laj Israel.

¹⁴Ye shall give three cities on this side Jordan, and three cities shall ye give in the land of Canaan, which shall be cities of refuge.

¹⁴Oxib li tenamit aßan tâcuânk jun pacßal li nimaß Jordán saß li naßajej Canaán. Li oxib chic teßcuânk saß li pacßal aßin. Eb li tenamit aßin, aßaneb li tenamit bar târûk teßxcol cuiß ribeb laj Israel li teßcamsînk chi incßaß yal teßraj xchßôl.

¹⁵These six cities shall be a refuge, both for the children of Israel, and for the stranger, and for the sojourner among them: that every one that killeth any person unawares may flee thither.

¹⁵Eb li cuakib chi tenamit aßin, aßaneb li tenamit bar târûk teßxcol cuiß ribeb laj Israel joß eb ajcuiß li jalaneb xtenamit li nequeßxcamsi ras rîtzßin chi incßaß yal naraj xchßôl.

¹⁶And if he smite him with an instrument of iron, so that he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

¹⁶Cui junak tixsacß li ras rîtzßin riqßuin chßîchß ut li jun aßan tâcâmk xban, li quisacßoc re, aßanak aj camsinel ut tâtenebâk câmc saß xbên.

¹⁷And if he smite him with throwing a stone, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

¹⁷Ut cui junak naxsacß li ras rîtzßin riqßuin pec ut aßan tâcâmk xban, li ani xsacßoc re, aßanak aj camsinel ut tâtenebâk câmc saß xbên.

¹⁸Or if he smite him with an hand weapon of wood, wherewith he may die, and he die, he is a murderer: the murderer shall surely be put to death.

¹⁸Ut cui junak naxsacß riqßuin cheß li ras rîtzßin ut aßan tâcâmk xban, li ani xsacßoc re, aßanak aj camsinel ut tâtenebâk câmc saß xbên.

¹⁹The revenger of blood himself shall slay the murderer: when he meeteth him, he shall slay him.

¹⁹Li rechßalal li quicamsîc, aßan li tâcamsînk re laj camsinel aß yal bar tixcßul.

²⁰But if he thrust him of hatred, or hurl at him by laying of wait, that he die;

²⁰Cui junak xicß naril li ras rîtzßin ut naxtßan, malaj ut naxsacß riqßuin cßaßak re ru,

²¹Or in enmity smite him with his hand, that he die: he that smote him shall surely be put to death; for he is a murderer: the revenger of blood shall slay the murderer, when he meeteth him.

²¹malaj ut naxsacß riqßuin rukß toj retal nacam, li jun aßan aj camsinel. Ut li rechßalal li quicamsîc, aßan li tâcamsînk re laj camsinel nak tixcßul.

²²But if he thrust him suddenly without enmity, or have cast upon him any thing without laying of wait,

²²Abanan cui junak naxcamsi li ras rîtzßin chi incßaß yal xraj xchßôl, usta naxtßan, malaj ut naxsacß riqßuin li cßaßak re ru,

²³Or with any stone, wherewith a man may die, seeing him not, and cast it upon him, that he die, and was not his enemy, neither sought his harm:

²³malaj ut naxcut chi pec chi incßaß xril li ras rîtzßin, ut li jun aßan nacam xban li cßaßru quixcßul,

²⁴Then the congregation shall judge between the slayer and the revenger of blood according to these judgments:

²⁴tento nak eb li tenamit teßrakok âtin saß xbên li xcamsin ras rîtzßin joß ajcuiß saß xbên li rechßalal li camenak, xban nak moco yal xraj ta xchßôl nak xcamsi li ras rîtzßin.

²⁵And the congregation shall deliver the slayer out of the hand of the revenger of blood, and the congregation shall restore him to the city of his refuge, whither he was fled: and he shall abide in it unto the death of the high priest, which was anointed with the holy oil.

²⁵Tento nak eb li tenamit teßxcol rix li xcamsi ras rîtzßin chiru li rechßalal li camenak. Ut teßxsukßisi cuißchic saß li tenamit li quixcol cuiß rib. Ut aran tâcanâk toj nak tâcâmk lix yucuaßileb laj tij, li quiqßueheß aceite saß xjolom.

²⁶But if the slayer shall at any time come without the border of the city of his refuge, whither he was fled;

²⁶Abanan cui li ani xcamsi ras rîtzßin tâêlk saß li tenamit aßan li târûk tixcol cuiß rib,

²⁷And the revenger of blood find him without the borders of the city of his refuge, and the revenger of blood kill the slayer; he shall not be guilty of blood:

²⁷ut cui natauheß xban li rechßalal li quicamsîc ut tâcamsîk xban, li rechßalal li camenak mâcßaß xmâc nak tixcamsi xban nak li jun x-el saß li tenamit li tixcol cuiß rib.

²⁸Because he should have remained in the city of his refuge until the death of the high priest: but after the death of the high priest the slayer shall return into the land of his possession.

²⁸Tento nak li ani xcamsi ras rîtzßin tâcanâk saß li tenamit li tixcol cuiß rib toj tâcâmk lix yucuaßil eb laj tij. Nak acak xcam lix yucuaßileb laj tij, naru tâsukßîk saß li rochoch.

²⁹So these things shall be for a statute of judgment unto you throughout your generations in all your dwellings.

²⁹Eb li chakßrab aßin êre lâex ut reheb lê ralal êcßajol yalak bar cuânkex.

³⁰Whoso killeth any person, the murderer shall be put to death by the mouth of witnesses: but one witness shall not testify against any person to cause him to die.

³⁰Tâtenebâk câmc saß xbên li ani xcamsi ras rîtzßin cui cuanqueb cuib oxib li teßyehok re. Abanan incßaß naru tâtenebâk câmc saß xbên cui jun ajcuiß li tâjitok re.

³¹Moreover ye shall take no satisfaction for the life of a murderer, which is guilty of death: but he shall be surely put to death.

³¹Li ani naxcamsi ras rîtzßin xban nak yal xraj xchßôl nak xcamsi incßaß naru xtojbal rix lix mâc riqßuin tumin. Tento ban nak tâcamsîk xban nak tenebanbil câmc saß xbên.

³²And ye shall take no satisfaction for him that is fled to the city of his refuge, that he should come again to dwell in the land, until the death of the priest.

³²Cui junak li xcamsi ras rîtzßin xcô saß li tenamit li naxcol cuiß rib, li jun aßan incßaß naru tâtojok re tâsukßîk saß li rochoch. Tento nak tâcanâk aran toj nak tâcâmk lix yucuaßileb laj tij.

³³So ye shall not pollute the land wherein ye are: for blood it defileth the land: and the land cannot be cleansed of the blood that is shed therein, but by the blood of him that shed it.

³³Mêmux ru li naßajej li texcuânk cuiß. Li camsînc naxmux ru li chßochß. Caßaj cuiß târûk xtojbal rix li mâc nak tâcamsîk li xcamsin. Ut li chßochß tâcanâk chi incßaß chic muxbil ru.Mêmux ru li naßajej li texcuânk cuiß xban nak lâin li Kâcuaß tincuânk aran. Lâin tincuânk êriqßuin lâex aj Israel, chan li Dios.

³⁴Defile not therefore the land which ye shall inhabit, wherein I dwell: for I the LORD dwell among the children of Israel.

³⁴Mêmux ru li naßajej li texcuânk cuiß xban nak lâin li Kâcuaß tincuânk aran. Lâin tincuânk êriqßuin lâex aj Israel, chan li Dios.
