¹Now when he had ended all his sayings in the audience of the people, he entered into Capernaum.

²And a certain centurion's servant, who was dear unto him, was sick, and ready to die.

²Bet viena virsnieka kalps, kas viņam bija dārgs, gulēja slims pie miršanas.

³And when he heard of Jesus, he sent unto him the elders of the Jews, beseeching him that he would come and heal his servant.

³Un viņš, izdzirdis par Jēzu, sūtīja jūdu vecākos, lūgdams Viņu, lai nāk un izdziedina tā kalpu.

⁴And when they came to Jesus, they besought him instantly, saying, That he was worthy for whom he should do this:

⁴Un tie, pie Jēzus atnākuši, ļoti Viņu lūdza, sacīdami Viņam: Tas cienīgs, lai Tu viņam to dari;

⁵For he loveth our nation, and he hath built us a synagogue.

⁵Jo viņš mīl mūsu tautu, un viņš arī uzcēla mums sinagogu.

⁶Then Jesus went with them. And when he was now not far from the house, the centurion sent friends to him, saying unto him, Lord, trouble not thyself: for I am not worthy that thou shouldest enter under my roof:

⁶Un Jēzus gāja viņiem līdz. Un kad Viņš vairs nebija tālu no tā nama, virsnieks sūtīja draugus pie Viņa, sacīdams: Kungs, nepūlies, jo es neesmu cienīgs, ka Tu nāktu manā pajumtē.

⁷Wherefore neither thought I myself worthy to come unto thee: but say in a word, and my servant shall be healed.

⁷Tāpēc arī es uzskatīju sevi necienīgu nākt pie Tevis; bet saki vārdu, un mans kalps izveseļosies.

⁸For I also am a man set under authority, having under me soldiers, and I say unto one, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it.

⁸Jo arī es esmu cilvēks, kas pakļauts augstākai varai, un man pakļauti kareivji; un es saku šim: ej, un viņš iet; un - otram: nāc, un viņš nāk; un manam kalpam: dari to, un viņš dara.

⁹When Jesus heard these things, he marvelled at him, and turned him about, and said unto the people that followed him, I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.

⁹To izdzirdis, Jēzus brīnījās, un, griezdamies pie ļaudīm, kas Viņam sekoja, sacīja: Patiesi es jums saku: tik lielu ticību es pat Izraēlī neesmu atradis.

¹⁰And they that were sent, returning to the house, found the servant whole that had been sick.

¹⁰Un tie, kas bija sūtīti, atgriezušies mājās, atrada slimo kalpu veselu.

¹¹And it came to pass the day after, that he went into a city called Nain; and many of his disciples went with him, and much people.

¹¹Un notika, ka Viņš pēc tam gāja uz pilsētu, kuru sauc par Nainu; un Viņa mācekļi un daudz ļaužu gāja Viņam līdz.

¹²Now when he came nigh to the gate of the city, behold, there was a dead man carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow: and much people of the city was with her.

¹²Un kad viņš tuvojās pilsētas vārtiem, lūk, te iznesa mironi, kas bija savas mātes vienīgais dēls, un viņa bija atraitne; un liels pulks pilsētnieku bija ar viņu.

¹³And when the Lord saw her, he had compassion on her, and said unto her, Weep not.

¹³Un kad Kungs viņu redzēja, Viņam palika tās žēl; un Viņš tai sacīja: Neraudi!

¹⁴And he came and touched the bier: and they that bare him stood still. And he said, Young man, I say unto thee, Arise.

¹⁴Un piegājis Viņš skāra nestuves. Bet tie, kas nesa, apstājās. un Viņš sacīja: Jaunekli, es tev saku: celies augšām!

¹⁵And he that was dead sat up, and began to speak. And he delivered him to his mother.

¹⁵Un tas, kas bija miris, atsēdās un sāka runāt. Un Viņš to atdeva tā mātei.

¹⁶And there came a fear on all: and they glorified God, saying, That a great prophet is risen up among us; and, That God hath visited his people.

¹⁶Bet bailes pārņēma visus; un viņi teica Dievu, sacīdami: Liels pravietis cēlies starp mums, un Dievs apmeklējis savus ļaudis.

¹⁷And this rumour of him went forth throughout all Judaea, and throughout all the region round about.

¹⁷Un šī vēsts par Viņu izpaudās visā Jūdejā un visā apgabala apkārtnē.

¹⁸And the disciples of John shewed him of all these things.

¹⁸Par visu šo Jānim paziņoja viņa mācekļi.

¹⁹And John calling unto him two of his disciples sent them to Jesus, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?

¹⁹Un Jānis, ataicinājis divus savus mācekļus, sūtīja viņus pie Jēzus, jautādams: Vai Tu esi tas, kam jānāk, vai lai gaidām citu?

²⁰When the men were come unto him, they said, John Baptist hath sent us unto thee, saying, Art thou he that should come? or look we for another?

²⁰Un vīri, atnākuši pie Viņa, sacīja: Jānis Kristītājs mūs sūtīja pie Tevis, sacīdams: Vai Tu esi Tas, kam jānāk, vai mums būs citu gaidīt?

²¹And in that same hour he cured many of their infirmities and plagues, and of evil spirits; and unto many that were blind he gave sight.

²¹Bet tanī brīdī Viņš daudzus izdziedināja no slimībām un kaitēm, un no ļaunajiem gariem, un daudziem aklajiem dāvāja redzi.

²²Then Jesus answering said unto them, Go your way, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; how that the blind see, the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

²²Un Viņš atbildēja un sacīja tiem: Ejiet un pasludiniet Jānim, ko jūs dzirdējāt un redzējāt: jo aklie redz, klibie staigā, spitālīgie top šķīsti, kurlie dzird, miroņi ceļas augšām un nabagiem evaņģēlijs tiek sludināts. (Is.35,5-6)

²³And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me.

²³Un svētīgi tie, kas no manis neņem apgrēcību.

²⁴And when the messengers of John were departed, he began to speak unto the people concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness for to see? A reed shaken with the wind?

²⁴Kad Jāņa sūtītie bija aizgājuši, Viņš sāka ļaudīm runāt par Jāni: Ko jūs izgājāt tuksnesī skatīt? Vai vēja šķobītu niedri?

²⁵But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold, they which are gorgeously apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings' courts.

²⁵Bet ko jūs izgājāt skatīt? Vai mīkstās drānas tērptu cilvēku? Redziet, kas tērpjas dārgās drānās un dzīvo izpriecās, tie ir ķēniņu pilīs.

²⁶But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? Yea, I say unto you, and much more than a prophet.

²⁶Bet ko jūs izgājāt skatīt? Vai pravieti? Patiesi es jums saku: un vairāk nekā pravieti.

²⁷This is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee.

²⁷Šis ir tas, par ko rakstīts: Lūk, es sūtu savu eņģeli Tava vaiga priekšā, kas iepriekš Tevis sagatavos Tev ceļu. (Mal.3,1)

²⁸For I say unto you, Among those that are born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of God is greater than he.

²⁸Jo es jums saku: Starp dzimušajiem no sievietēm nav neviena lielāka pravieša par Jāni Kristītāju, bet mazākais Dieva valstībā ir lielāks par viņu.

²⁹And all the people that heard him, and the publicans, justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.

²⁹Un visa tauta un muitnieki, to dzirdēdami, godāja Dieva taisnību un kristījās Jāņa kristībā.

³⁰But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel of God against themselves, being not baptized of him.

³⁰Bet farizeji un bauslības pratēji nicināja Dieva gribu par sevi, nesaņemot no viņa kristību.

³¹And the Lord said, Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like?

³¹Bet Kungs sacīja: Kam lai es pielīdzinu šīs paaudzes ļaudis? Kam viņi līdzīgi?

³²They are like unto children sitting in the marketplace, and calling one to another, and saying, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced; we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept.

³²Viņi ir līdzīgi tirgū sēdošiem bērniem, kas savstarpēji sarunājas, sacīdami: Mēs jums stabulējām, bet jūs nedejojāt; mēs dziedājām raudu dziesmas, bet jūs neraudājāt.

³³For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a devil.

³³Jo atnāca Jānis Kristītājs: viņš neēd maizi un nedzer vīnu, un jūs sakāt: viņā ir ļaunais gars.

³⁴The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold a gluttonous man, and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners!

³⁴Atnāca Cilvēka Dēls: Viņš ēd un dzer, un jūs sakāt: Lūk, cilvēks, kas ir rijējs un vīna dzērājs, muitnieku un grēcinieku draugs.

³⁵But wisdom is justified of all her children.

³⁵Un šo gudrību attaisno visi viņas bērni.

³⁶And one of the Pharisees desired him that he would eat with him. And he went into the Pharisee's house, and sat down to meat.

³⁶Bet kāds no farizejiem lūdza Viņu, lai Viņš pie tā ēstu. Viņš, iegājis farizeja namā, novietojās pie galda.

³⁷And, behold, a woman in the city, which was a sinner, when she knew that Jesus sat at meat in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment,

³⁷Un, lūk, tanī pilsētā viena sieviete, kas bija grēciniece, uzzinājusi, ka Viņš piedalās mielastā farizeja namā, atnesa alabastra traukā svaidāmo eļlu;

³⁸And stood at his feet behind him weeping, and began to wash his feet with tears, and did wipe them with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed them with the ointment.

³⁸Un tā, nostājusies aiz Viņa pie Viņa kājām, sāka asarām slacināt Viņa kājas un susināt tās ar saviem galvas matiem, un skūpstīja Viņa kājas, un svaidīja tās ar eļlu.

³⁹Now when the Pharisee which had bidden him saw it, he spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him: for she is a sinner.

³⁹Bet farizejs, kas Viņu bija aicinājis, domāja sevī, sacīdams: Ja Tas būtu pravietis, tad gan zinātu, kas un kāda ir šī sieviete, kas Viņam pieskaras, jo tā ir grēciniece.

⁴⁰And Jesus answering said unto him, Simon, I have somewhat to say unto thee. And he saith, Master, say on.

⁴⁰Un Jēzus atbildēja un sacīja viņam: Sīman, man tev kas sakāms. Bet viņš teica: Mācītāj, saki!

⁴¹There was a certain creditor which had two debtors: the one owed five hundred pence, and the other fifty.

⁴¹Kādam naudas aizdevējam bija divi parādnieki: viens bija parādā pieci simti denāriju un otrs - piecdesmit.

⁴²And when they had nothing to pay, he frankly forgave them both. Tell me therefore, which of them will love him most?

⁴²Tā kā šiem nebija no kā atdot, viņš atlaida abiem. Kurš no tiem viņu vairāk mīl?

⁴³Simon answered and said, I suppose that he, to whom he forgave most. And he said unto him, Thou hast rightly judged.

⁴³Sīmanis sacīja, atbildēdams: Domāju, ka tas, kam vairāk atlaida. Bet Viņš tam sacīja: Tu pareizi esi spriedis.

⁴⁴And he turned to the woman, and said unto Simon, Seest thou this woman? I entered into thine house, thou gavest me no water for my feet: but she hath washed my feet with tears, and wiped them with the hairs of her head.

⁴⁴Un Viņš, pagriezies pret sievieti, sacīja Sīmanim: Vai tu redzi šo sievieti? Es ienācu tavā namā, un tu nedevi ūdeni manām kājām; bet šī asarām slacināja manas kājas un saviem matiem tās susināja.

⁴⁵Thou gavest me no kiss: but this woman since the time I came in hath not ceased to kiss my feet.

⁴⁵Tu mani neskūpstīji, bet šī, tikko es ienācu, nepārstāj skūpstīt manas kājas.

⁴⁶My head with oil thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed my feet with ointment.

⁴⁶Tu nesvaidīji ar eļlu manu galvu, bet viņa ar svaidāmo eļlu svaidīja manas kājas.

⁴⁷Wherefore I say unto thee, Her sins, which are many, are forgiven; for she loved much: but to whom little is forgiven, the same loveth little.

⁴⁷Tāpēc es tev saku: viņai daudzie grēki tiek piedoti, jo viņa ļoti mīlējusi; bet kam mazāk piedod, tas mīl mazāk.

⁴⁸And he said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven.

⁴⁸Un Viņš sacīja tai: Tavi grēki tev tiek piedoti!

⁴⁹And they that sat at meat with him began to say within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also?

⁴⁹Un tie, kas ar Viņu atradās pie galda, sāka sevī runāt: Kas Viņš tāds, kas pat grēkus piedod?

⁵⁰And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.

⁵⁰Bet Viņš sacīja sievietei: Tava ticība tevi glābusi, ej mierā!
