1This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.
1ഒരുവന് അദ്ധ്യക്ഷസ്ഥാനം കാംക്ഷിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില് നല്ലവേല ആഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നു. എന്നുള്ളതു വിശ്വാസയോഗ്യം ആകുന്നു.
2A bishop then must be blameless, the husband of one wife, vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;
2എന്നാല് അദ്ധ്യക്ഷന് നിരപവാദ്യനായി ഏകഭാര്യയുടെ ഭര്ത്താവും നിര്മ്മദനും ജിതേന്ദ്രിയനും സുശീലനും അതിഥിപ്രിയനും ഉപദേശിപ്പാന് സമര്ത്ഥനും ആയിരിക്കേണം.
3Not given to wine, no striker, not greedy of filthy lucre; but patient, not a brawler, not covetous;
3മദ്യപ്രിയനും തല്ലുകാരനും അരുതു;
4One that ruleth well his own house, having his children in subjection with all gravity;
4ശാന്തനും കലഹിക്കാത്തവനും ദ്രവ്യാഗ്രഹമില്ലാത്തവനും സ്വന്തകുടുംബത്തെ നന്നായി ഭരിക്കുന്നവനും മക്കളെ പൂര്ണ്ണഗൌരവത്തോടെ അനുസരണത്തില് പാലിക്കുന്നവനും ആയിരിക്കേണം.
5(For if a man know not how to rule his own house, how shall he take care of the church of God?)
5സ്വന്തകുടുംബത്തെ ഭരിപ്പാന് അറിയാത്തവന് ദൈവസഭയെ എങ്ങനെ പരിപാലിക്കും?
6Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.
6നിഗളിച്ചിട്ടു പിശാചിന്നു വന്ന ശിക്ഷാവിധിയില് അകപ്പെടാതിരിപ്പാന് പുതിയ ശിഷ്യനും അരുതു.
7Moreover he must have a good report of them which are without; lest he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.
7നിന്ദയിലും പിശാചിന്റെ കണിയിലും കടുങ്ങാതിരിപ്പാന് പുറമെയുള്ളവരോടു നല്ല സാക്ഷ്യം പ്രാപിച്ചവനും ആയിരിക്കേണം.
8Likewise must the deacons be grave, not doubletongued, not given to much wine, not greedy of filthy lucre;
8അവ്വണ്ണം ശുശ്രൂഷകന്മാര് ഘനശാലികളായിരിക്കേണം; ഇരുവാക്കുകാരും മദ്യപന്മാരും ദുര്ല്ലാഭമോഹികളും അരുതു.
9Holding the mystery of the faith in a pure conscience.
9അവര് വിശ്വാസത്തിന്റെ മര്മ്മം ശുദ്ധമനസ്സാക്ഷിയില് വെച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നവര് ആയിരിക്കേണം.
10And let these also first be proved; then let them use the office of a deacon, being found blameless.
10അവരെ ആദ്യം പരീക്ഷിക്കേണം; അനിന്ദ്യരായി കണ്ടാല് അവര് ശുശ്രൂഷ ഏല്കട്ടെ.
11Even so must their wives be grave, not slanderers, sober, faithful in all things.
11അവ്വണം സ്ത്രീകളും ഘനശാലികളായി ഏഷണി പറയാതെ നിര്മ്മദമാരും എല്ലാറ്റിലും വിശ്വസ്തമാരുമായിരിക്കേണം.
12Let the deacons be the husbands of one wife, ruling their children and their own houses well.
12ശുശ്രൂഷകന്മാര് ഏകഭാര്യയുള്ള ഭര്ത്താക്കന്മാരും മക്കളെയും സ്വന്തകുടുംബങ്ങളെയും നന്നായി ഭരിക്കുന്നവരും ആയിരിക്കേണം.
13For they that have used the office of a deacon well purchase to themselves a good degree, and great boldness in the faith which is in Christ Jesus.
13നന്നായി ശുശ്രൂഷ ചെയ്തിട്ടുള്ളവര് തങ്ങള്ക്കു നല്ല നിലയും ക്രിസ്തുയേശുവിങ്കലുള്ള വിശ്വാസത്തില് വളരെ പ്രാഗത്ഭ്യവും സമ്പാദിക്കുന്നു.
14These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:
14ഞാന് വേഗത്തില് നിന്റെ അടുക്കല് വരും എന്നു ആശിക്കുന്നു;
15But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth.
15താമസിച്ചുപോയാലോ സത്യത്തിന്റെ തൂണും അടിസ്ഥാനവുമായി ജീവനുള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ സഭയാകുന്ന ദൈവാലയത്തില് നടക്കേണ്ടതു എങ്ങനെയെന്നു നീ അറിയേണ്ടതിന്നു ഇതു എഴുതുന്നു.
16And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
16അവന് ജഡത്തില് വെളിപ്പെട്ടു; ആത്മാവില് നീതീകരിക്കപ്പെട്ടു; ദൂതന്മാര്ക്കും പ്രത്യക്ഷനായി; ജാതികളുടെ ഇടയില് പ്രസംഗിക്കപ്പെട്ടു ലോകത്തില് വിശ്വസിക്കപ്പെട്ടു; തേജസ്സില് എടുക്കപ്പെട്ടു എന്നിങ്ങനെ ദൈവഭക്തിയുടെ മര്മ്മം സമ്മതമാംവണ്ണം വലിയതാകുന്നു.
