1Josiah was eight years old when he began to reign, and he reigned in Jerusalem one and thirty years.
1യോശീയാവു വാഴ്ച തുടങ്ങിയപ്പോള് അവന്നു എട്ടു വയസ്സായിരുന്നു; അവന് മുപ്പത്തൊന്നു സംവത്സരം യെരൂശലേമില് വാണു.
2And he did that which was right in the sight of the LORD, and walked in the ways of David his father, and declined neither to the right hand, nor to the left.
2അവന് യഹോവേക്കു പ്രസാദമായുള്ളതു ചെയ്തു; തന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ വഴികളില് വലത്തോട്ടോ ഇടത്തോട്ടോ മാറാതെ നടന്നു.
3For in the eighth year of his reign, while he was yet young, he began to seek after the God of David his father: and in the twelfth year he began to purge Judah and Jerusalem from the high places, and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images.
3അവന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ എട്ടാം ആണ്ടില്, അവന്റെ യൌവനത്തില് തന്നെ, അവന് തന്റെ പിതാവായ ദാവീദിന്റെ ദൈവത്തെ അന്വേഷിച്ചുതുടങ്ങി; പന്ത്രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടില് അവന് പൂജാഗിരികളെയും അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെയും വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയും ബിംബങ്ങളെയും നീക്കി യെഹൂദയെയും യെരൂശലേമിനെയും വെടിപ്പാക്കുവാന് തുടങ്ങി.
4And they brake down the altars of Baalim in his presence; and the images, that were on high above them, he cut down; and the groves, and the carved images, and the molten images, he brake in pieces, and made dust of them, and strewed it upon the graves of them that had sacrificed unto them.

5And he burnt the bones of the priests upon their altars, and cleansed Judah and Jerusalem.
5അവന് പൂജാരികളുടെ അസ്ഥികളെ അവരുടെ ബലിപീഠങ്ങളിന്മേല് ദഹിപ്പിക്കയും യെഹൂദയെയും യെരൂശലേമിനെയും വെടിപ്പാക്കുകയും ചെയ്തു.
6And so did he in the cities of Manasseh, and Ephraim, and Simeon, even unto Naphtali, with their mattocks round about.
6അങ്ങനെതന്നേ അവന് മനശ്ശെയുടെയും എഫ്രയീമിന്റെയും ശിമെയോന്റെയും പട്ടണങ്ങളില് നഫ്താലിവരെയും ചുറ്റിലും അവരുടെ ശൂന്യസ്ഥലങ്ങളില് ചെയ്തു.
7And when he had broken down the altars and the groves, and had beaten the graven images into powder, and cut down all the idols throughout all the land of Israel, he returned to Jerusalem.
7അവന് ബലിപീഠങ്ങളെ ഇടിച്ചു അശേരാപ്രതിഷ്ഠകളെയും വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെയുമെല്ലാം തകര്ത്തു പൊടിയാക്കി, യിസ്രായേല് ദേശത്തു എല്ലാടവും സകലസൂര്യസ്തംഭങ്ങളെയും വെട്ടിക്കളഞ്ഞു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോന്നു.
8Now in the eighteenth year of his reign, when he had purged the land, and the house, he sent Shaphan the son of Azaliah, and Maaseiah the governor of the city, and Joah the son of Joahaz the recorder, to repair the house of the LORD his God.
8അവന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ പതിനെട്ടാം ആണ്ടില് ദേശത്തെയും ആലയത്തെയും വെടിപ്പാക്കിയശേഷം അവന് അസല്യാവിന്റെ മകനായ ശാഫാനെയും നഗരാധിപതിയായ മയശേയാവെയും യോവാശിന്റെ മകനായ രായസക്കാരന് യോവാഹിനെയും തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റകുറ്റം തീര്പ്പാന് നിയോഗിച്ചു.
9And when they came to Hilkiah the high priest, they delivered the money that was brought into the house of God, which the Levites that kept the doors had gathered of the hand of Manasseh and Ephraim, and of all the remnant of Israel, and of all Judah and Benjamin; and they returned to Jerusalem.
9അവര് മഹാപുരോഹിതനായ ഹില്ക്കീയാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നപ്പോള് വാതില്കാവല്ക്കാരായ ലേവ്യര് മനശ്ശെയോടും എഫ്രയീമിനോടും ശേഷമുള്ള എല്ലായിസ്രായേലിനോടും എല്ലാ യെഹൂദയോടും ബെന്യാമീനോടും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളോടും പിരിച്ചെടുത്തു ദൈവാലയത്തില് അടെച്ചിരുന്ന ദ്രവ്യം ഏല്പിച്ചു കൊടുത്തു.
10And they put it in the hand of the workmen that had the oversight of the house of the LORD, and they gave it to the workmen that wrought in the house of the LORD, to repair and amend the house:
10അവര് അതു യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് വേലചെയ്യിക്കുന്ന മേല്വിചാരകന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിലും അവര് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തിന്റെ അറ്റകുറ്റം തീര്ത്തു നന്നാക്കുവാന് ആലയത്തില് പണിചെയ്യുന്ന പണിക്കാര്ക്കും കൊടുത്തു.
11Even to the artificers and builders gave they it, to buy hewn stone, and timber for couplings, and to floor the houses which the kings of Judah had destroyed.
11ചെത്തിയ കല്ലും ചേര്പ്പുപണിക്കു മരവും വാങ്ങേണ്ടതിന്നും യെഹൂദാരാജാക്കന്മാര് നശിപ്പിച്ചിരുന്ന കെട്ടിടങ്ങള്ക്കു തുലാങ്ങള് വെക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആശാരികള്ക്കും പണിക്കാര്ക്കും തന്നേ.
12And the men did the work faithfully: and the overseers of them were Jahath and Obadiah, the Levites, of the sons of Merari; and Zechariah and Meshullam, of the sons of the Kohathites, to set it forward; and other of the Levites, all that could skill of instruments of music.
12ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് വിശ്വാസത്തിന്മേല് പ്രവര്ത്തിച്ചു; മെരാര്യ്യരില് യഹത്ത്, ഔബദ്യാവു എന്ന ലേവ്യരും പണിനടത്തുവാന് കെഹാത്യരില് സെഖര്യ്യാവും മെശുല്ലാമും വാദ്യപ്രയോഗത്തില് സാമര്ത്ഥ്യമുള്ള സകലലേവ്യരും അവരുടെ മേല്വിചാരകന്മാര് ആയിരുന്നു.
13Also they were over the bearers of burdens, and were overseers of all that wrought the work in any manner of service: and of the Levites there were scribes, and officers, and porters.
13അവര് ചുമട്ടുകാര്ക്കും അതതു വേല ചെയ്യുന്ന എല്ലാ പണിക്കാര്ക്കും മേല്വിചാരകന്മാരായിരുന്നു; ലേവ്യരില് ചിലര് എഴുത്തുകാരും ഉദ്യോഗസ്ഥന്മാരും വാതില്കാവല്ക്കാരും ആയിരുന്നു.
14And when they brought out the money that was brought into the house of the LORD, Hilkiah the priest found a book of the law of the LORD given by Moses.
14അവര് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് പിരിഞ്ഞുകിട്ടിയ ദ്രവ്യം പുറത്തു എടുത്തപ്പോള് ഹില്ക്കീയാപുരോഹിതന് യഹോവ മോശെമുഖാന്തരം കൊടുത്ത ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകം കണ്ടെത്തി.
15And Hilkiah answered and said to Shaphan the scribe, I have found the book of the law in the house of the LORD. And Hilkiah delivered the book to Shaphan.
15ഹില്ക്കീയാവു രായസക്കാരനായ ശാഫാനോടുഞാന് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് ന്യായപ്രമാണപുസ്തകം കണ്ടെത്തിയിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. ഹില്ക്കീയാവു പുസ്തകം ശാഫാന്റെ കയ്യില് കൊടുത്തു.
16And Shaphan carried the book to the king, and brought the king word back again, saying, All that was committed to thy servants, they do it.
16ശാഫാന് പുസ്തകം രാജാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല് കൊണ്ടു ചെന്നു രാജസന്നിധിയില് ബോധിപ്പിച്ചതുഅടിയങ്ങള്ക്കു കല്പന തന്നതുപോലെ ഒക്കെയും ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
17And they have gathered together the money that was found in the house of the LORD, and have delivered it into the hand of the overseers, and to the hand of the workmen.
17യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് കണ്ട ദ്രവ്യം പുറത്തു എടുത്തു വിചാരകന്മാരുടെ കയ്യിലും വേലക്കാരുടെ കയ്യിലും കൊടുത്തിരിക്കുന്നു.
18Then Shaphan the scribe told the king, saying, Hilkiah the priest hath given me a book. And Shaphan read it before the king.
18രായസക്കാരനായ ശാഫാന് രാജാവിനോടുഹില്ക്കീയാപുരോഹിതന് ഒരു പുസ്തകം എന്റെ കയ്യില് തന്നിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നും ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു; ശാഫാന് അതിനെ രാജസന്നിധിയില് വായിച്ചു കേള്പ്പിച്ചു.
19And it came to pass, when the king had heard the words of the law, that he rent his clothes.
19ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തിലെ വാക്യങ്ങളെ കേട്ടിട്ടു രാജാവു വസ്ത്രം കീറി.
20And the king commanded Hilkiah, and Ahikam the son of Shaphan, and Abdon the son of Micah, and Shaphan the scribe, and Asaiah a servant of the king's, saying,
20രാജാവു ഹില്ക്കീയാവോടും ശാഫാന്റെ മകന് അഹീക്കാമിനോടും മീഖയുടെ മകന് അബ്ദോനോടും രായസക്കാരനായ ശാഫാനോടും രാജഭൃത്യനായ അസായാവോടും കല്പിച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല്
21Go, enquire of the LORD for me, and for them that are left in Israel and in Judah, concerning the words of the book that is found: for great is the wrath of the LORD that is poured out upon us, because our fathers have not kept the word of the LORD, to do after all that is written in this book.
21നിങ്ങള് ചെന്നു, കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയിരിക്കുന്ന ഈ പുസ്തകത്തിലെ വാക്യങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു എനിക്കും യിസ്രായേലിലും യെഹൂദയിലും ശേഷിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നവര്ക്കും വേണ്ടി യഹോവയോടു അരുളപ്പാടു ചോദിപ്പിന് ; ഈ പുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്നതൊക്കെയും അനുസരിച്ചു നടക്കത്തക്കവണ്ണം നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര് യഹോവയുടെ വചനത്തെ പ്രമാണിക്കാതെയിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു നമ്മുടെമേല് ചൊരിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്ന യഹോവയുടെ കോപം വലിയതല്ലോ.
22And Hilkiah, and they that the king had appointed, went to Huldah the prophetess, the wife of Shallum the son of Tikvath, the son of Hasrah, keeper of the wardrobe; (now she dwelt in Jerusalem in the college:) and they spake to her to that effect.
22അങ്ങനെ ഹില്ക്കീയാവും രാജാവു നിയോഗിച്ചവരും ഹസ്രയുടെ മകനായ തൊക്ഹത്തിന്റെ മകനായി രാജവസ്ത്രവിചാരകനായ ശല്ലൂമിന്റെ ഭാര്യ ഹുല്ദാ എന്ന പ്രവാചകിയുടെ അടുക്കല് ചെന്നു--അവള് യെരൂശലേമില് രണ്ടാം ഭാഗത്തു പാര്ത്തിരുന്നു;- അവളോടു ആ സംഗതിയെക്കുറിച്ചു സംസാരിച്ചു.
23And she answered them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Tell ye the man that sent you to me,
23അവള് അവരോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞതുയിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു; നിങ്ങളെ എന്റെ അടുക്കല് അയച്ച പുരുഷനോടു നിങ്ങള് പറയേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാല്
24Thus saith the LORD, Behold, I will bring evil upon this place, and upon the inhabitants thereof, even all the curses that are written in the book which they have read before the king of Judah:
24യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നുഞാന് ഈ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നും നിവാസികള്ക്കും യെഹൂദാരാജാവിന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ വായിച്ചുകേള്പ്പിച്ച പുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്ന സകലശാപങ്ങളുമായ അനര്ത്ഥം വരുത്തും.
25Because they have forsaken me, and have burned incense unto other gods, that they might provoke me to anger with all the works of their hands; therefore my wrath shall be poured out upon this place, and shall not be quenched.
25അവര് എന്നെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു തങ്ങളുടെ സകലപ്രവൃത്തികളാലും എനിക്കു കോപം വരത്തക്കവണ്ണം അന്യ ദൈവങ്ങള്ക്കു ധൂപം കാട്ടിയതുകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കോപം ഈ സ്ഥലത്തു ചൊരിയും; അതു കെട്ടുപോകയും ഇല്ല.
26And as for the king of Judah, who sent you to enquire of the LORD, so shall ye say unto him, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel concerning the words which thou hast heard;
26എന്നാല് യഹോവയോടു ചോദിപ്പാന് നിങ്ങളെ അയച്ച യെഹൂദാരാജാവിനോടു നിങ്ങള് പറയേണ്ടതു എന്തെന്നാല്നീ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്ന വചനങ്ങളെക്കുറിച്ചു യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ ഇപ്രകാരം അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു;
27Because thine heart was tender, and thou didst humble thyself before God, when thou heardest his words against this place, and against the inhabitants thereof, and humbledst thyself before me, and didst rend thy clothes, and weep before me; I have even heard thee also, saith the LORD.
27ഈ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നും നിവാസികള്ക്കും വിരോധമായുള്ള ദൈവത്തിന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ നീ കേട്ടപ്പോള് നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം അലിഞ്ഞു നീ അവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നെത്തന്നേ താഴ്ത്തുകയും എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ നിന്നെത്തന്നേ താഴ്ത്തി നിന്റെ വസ്ത്രം കീറി എന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ കരകയും ചെയ്കകൊണ്ടു ഞാനും നിന്റെ അപേക്ഷ കേട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവയുടെ അരുളപ്പാടു.
28Behold, I will gather thee to thy fathers, and thou shalt be gathered to thy grave in peace, neither shall thine eyes see all the evil that I will bring upon this place, and upon the inhabitants of the same. So they brought the king word again.
28ഞാന് നിന്നെ നിന്റെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു ചേര്ത്തുകൊള്ളും; നീ സമാധാനത്തോടെ നിന്റെ കല്ലറയില് അടക്കപ്പെടും; ഞാന് ഈ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നും നിവാസികള്ക്കും വരുത്തുവാന് പോകുന്ന അനര്ത്ഥമൊന്നും നിന്റെ കണ്ണു കാണുകയുമില്ല. അവര് രാജാവിനെ ഈ മറുപടി ബോധിപ്പിച്ചു.
29Then the king sent and gathered together all the elders of Judah and Jerusalem.
29അനന്തരം രാജാവു ആളയച്ചു യെഹൂദയിലും യെരൂശലേമിലും ഉള്ള എല്ലാമൂപ്പന്മാരെയും കൂട്ടിവരുത്തി.
30And the king went up into the house of the LORD, and all the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and the priests, and the Levites, and all the people, great and small: and he read in their ears all the words of the book of the covenant that was found in the house of the LORD.
30രാജാവും സകലയെഹൂദാപുരുഷന്മാരും യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികളും പുരോഹിതന്മാരും ലേവ്യരും ആബാലവൃദ്ധം സര്വ്വജനവും യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില് ചെന്നു; അവന് യഹോവയുടെ ആലയത്തില്വെച്ചു കണ്ടുകിട്ടിയ നിയമപുസ്തകത്തിലെ വാക്യങ്ങളെയെല്ലാം അവരെ കേള്പ്പിച്ചു.
31And the king stood in his place, and made a covenant before the LORD, to walk after the LORD, and to keep his commandments, and his testimonies, and his statutes, with all his heart, and with all his soul, to perform the words of the covenant which are written in this book.
31രാജാവു തന്റെ സ്ഥാനത്തു നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു താന് യഹോവയെ അനുസരിക്കയും; അവന്റെ കല്പനകളും സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങളും ചട്ടങ്ങളും പൂര്ണ്ണഹൃദയത്തോടും പൂര്ണ്ണമനസ്സോടുംകൂടെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു നടക്കയും ഈ പുസ്തകത്തില് എഴുതിയിരിക്കുന്ന നിയമത്തിന്റെ വചനങ്ങള് ആചരിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമെന്നു യഹോവയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ഒരു നിയമം ചെയ്തു.
32And he caused all that were present in Jerusalem and Benjamin to stand to it. And the inhabitants of Jerusalem did according to the covenant of God, the God of their fathers.
32യെരൂശലേമിലും ബെന്യാമീനിലും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നവരെ ഒക്കെയും അവന് അതില് യോജിപ്പിച്ചു. യെരൂശലേംനിവാസികള് തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിയമപ്രകാരം ചെയ്തു.
33And Josiah took away all the abominations out of all the countries that pertained to the children of Israel, and made all that were present in Israel to serve, even to serve the LORD their God. And all his days they departed not from following the LORD, the God of their fathers.
33യോശീയാവു യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ക്കുള്ള സകലദേശങ്ങളില്നിന്നും സകലമ്ളേച്ഛതകളെയും നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു യിസ്രായേലില് ഉള്ളവരെല്ലാം തങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ സേവിപ്പാന് സംഗതിവരുത്തി. അവന്റെ കാലത്തൊക്കെയും അവര് തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയെ വിട്ടുമാറിയില്ല.
