1And Saul was consenting unto his death. And at that time there was a great persecution against the church which was at Jerusalem; and they were all scattered abroad throughout the regions of Judaea and Samaria, except the apostles.
1അവനെ കുലചെയ്തതു ശൌലിന്നു സമ്മതമായിരുന്നു. അന്നു യെരൂശലേമിലെ സഭെക്കു ഒരു വലിയ ഉപദ്രവം നേരിട്ടു; അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാര്‍ ഒഴികെ എല്ലാവരും യെഹുദ്യ ശമര്യ ദേശങ്ങളില്‍ ചിതറിപ്പോയി.
2And devout men carried Stephen to his burial, and made great lamentation over him.
2ഭക്തിയുള്ള പുരുഷന്മാര്‍ സ്തെഫാനൊസിനെ അടക്കം ചെയ്തു. അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു വലിയൊരു പ്രലാപം കഴിച്ചു.
3As for Saul, he made havock of the church, entering into every house, and haling men and women committed them to prison.
3എന്നാല്‍ ശൌല്‍ വീടുതോറും ചെന്നു പുരുഷന്മാരെയും സ്ത്രീകളെയും പിടിച്ചിഴച്ചു തടവില്‍ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു സഭയെ മുടിച്ചു പോന്നു.
4Therefore they that were scattered abroad went every where preaching the word.
4ചിതറിപ്പോയവര്‍ വചനം സുവിശേഷിച്ചുംകൊണ്ടു അവിടവിടെ സഞ്ചരിച്ചു.
5Then Philip went down to the city of Samaria, and preached Christ unto them.
5ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ശമര്യപട്ടണത്തില്‍ ചെന്നു അവരോടു ക്രിസ്തുവിനെ പ്രസംഗിച്ചു.
6And the people with one accord gave heed unto those things which Philip spake, hearing and seeing the miracles which he did.
6ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ചെയ്ത അടയാളങ്ങളെ പുരുഷാരങ്ങള്‍ കേള്‍ക്കയും കാണ്‍കയും ചെയ്കയാല്‍ അവന്‍ പറയുന്നതു ഏകമനസ്സോടെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
7For unclean spirits, crying with loud voice, came out of many that were possessed with them: and many taken with palsies, and that were lame, were healed.
7അശുദ്ധാത്മാക്കള്‍ ബാധിച്ച പലരില്‍നിന്നും അവ ഉറക്കെ നിലവിളിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു; അനേകം പക്ഷവാത ക്കാരും മുടന്തരും സൌഖ്യം പ്രാപിച്ചു.
8And there was great joy in that city.
8അങ്ങനെ ആ പട്ടണത്തില്‍ വളരെ സന്തോഷം ഉണ്ടായി.
9But there was a certain man, called Simon, which beforetime in the same city used sorcery, and bewitched the people of Samaria, giving out that himself was some great one:
9എന്നാല്‍ ശിമോന്‍ എന്നു പേരുള്ളോരു പുരുഷന്‍ ആ പട്ടണത്തില്‍ ആഭിചാരം ചെയ്തു, താന്‍ മഹാന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ശമര്യ ജാതിയെ ഭ്രമിപ്പിച്ചുപോന്നു.
10To whom they all gave heed, from the least to the greatest, saying, This man is the great power of God.
10ഇവന്‍ മഹതി എന്ന ദൈവശക്തി ആകുന്നു എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു ആബാലവൃദ്ധം എല്ലാവരും അവനെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചുവന്നു.
11And to him they had regard, because that of long time he had bewitched them with sorceries.
11ഇവന്‍ ആഭിചാരംകൊണ്ടു ഏറിയ കാലം അവരെ ഭ്രമിപ്പിക്കയാല്‍ അത്രേ അവര്‍ അവനെ ശ്രദ്ധിച്ചതു.
12But when they believed Philip preaching the things concerning the kingdom of God, and the name of Jesus Christ, they were baptized, both men and women.
12എന്നാല്‍ ദൈവരാജ്യത്തെയും യേശുക്രിസ്തുവിന്റെ നാമത്തെയും കുറിച്ചുള്ള സുവിശേഷം അറിയിക്കുന്ന ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനെ അവര്‍ വിശ്വസിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ പുരുഷന്മാരും സ്ത്രീകളും സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു.
13Then Simon himself believed also: and when he was baptized, he continued with Philip, and wondered, beholding the miracles and signs which were done.
13ശിമോന്‍ താനും വിശ്വസിച്ചു സ്നാനം ഏറ്റു ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനോടു ചേര്‍ന്നു നിന്നു, വലിയ വീര്യപ്രവൃത്തികളും അടയാളങ്ങളും നടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു ഭ്രമിച്ചു.
14Now when the apostles which were at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had received the word of God, they sent unto them Peter and John:
14അനന്തരം യെരൂശലേമിലുള്ള അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാര്‍, ശമര്യര്‍ ദൈവവചനം കൈക്കൊണ്ടു എന്നു കേട്ടു പത്രൊസിനെയും യോഹന്നാനെയും അവരുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ അയച്ചു.
15Who, when they were come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost:
15അവര്‍ ചെന്നു, അവര്‍ക്കും പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ലഭിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര്‍ക്കായി പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിച്ചു.
16(For as yet he was fallen upon none of them: only they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus.)
16അന്നുവരെ അവരില്‍ ആരുടെമേലും ആത്മാവു വന്നിരുന്നില്ല; അവര്‍ കര്‍ത്താവായ യേശുവിന്റെ നാമത്തില്‍ സ്നാനം ഏറ്റിരുന്നതേയുള്ളു.
17Then laid they their hands on them, and they received the Holy Ghost.
17അവര്‍ അവരുടെമേല്‍ കൈ വെച്ചപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ക്കും പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ലഭിച്ചു.
18And when Simon saw that through laying on of the apostles' hands the Holy Ghost was given, he offered them money,
18അപ്പൊസ്തലന്മാര്‍ കൈ വെച്ചതിനാല്‍ പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ലഭിച്ചതു ശിമോന്‍ കണ്ടാറെ അവര്‍ക്കും ദ്രവ്യം കൊണ്ടു വന്നു
19Saying, Give me also this power, that on whomsoever I lay hands, he may receive the Holy Ghost.
19ഞാന്‍ ഒരുത്തന്റെ മേല്‍ കൈ വെച്ചാല്‍ അവന്നു പരിശുദ്ധാത്മാവു ലഭിപ്പാന്‍ തക്കവണ്ണം ഈ അധികാരം എനിക്കും തരേണം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
20But Peter said unto him, Thy money perish with thee, because thou hast thought that the gift of God may be purchased with money.
20പത്രൊസ് അവനോടുദൈവത്തിന്റെ ദാനം പണത്തിന്നു വാങ്ങിക്കൊള്ളാം എന്നു നീ നിരൂപിക്കകൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ പണം നിന്നോടുകൂടെ നശിച്ചുപോകട്ടെ.
21Thou hast neither part nor lot in this matter: for thy heart is not right in the sight of God.
21നിന്റെ ഹൃദയം ദൈവ സന്നിധിയില്‍ നേരുള്ളതല്ലായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഈ കാര്യത്തില്‍ നിനക്കു പങ്കും ഔഹരിയുമില്ല.
22Repent therefore of this thy wickedness, and pray God, if perhaps the thought of thine heart may be forgiven thee.
22നീ ഈ വഷളത്വം വിട്ടു മാനസാന്തരപ്പെട്ടു കര്‍ത്താവിനോടു പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിക്ക; പക്ഷെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിലെ നിരൂപണം ക്ഷമിച്ചുകിട്ടുമായിരിക്കും.
23For I perceive that thou art in the gall of bitterness, and in the bond of iniquity.
23നീ കൈപ്പുള്ള പകയിലും അനീതിയുടെ ബന്ധനത്തിലും അകപ്പെട്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
24Then answered Simon, and said, Pray ye to the LORD for me, that none of these things which ye have spoken come upon me.
24എന്നു ഞാന്‍ കാണുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതിന്നു ശിമോന്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ പറഞ്ഞതു ഒന്നും എനിക്കു ഭവിക്കാതിരിപ്പാന്‍ കര്‍ത്താവിനോടു എനിക്കുവേണ്ടി പ്രാര്‍ത്ഥിപ്പിന്‍ എന്നു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.
25And they, when they had testified and preached the word of the Lord, returned to Jerusalem, and preached the gospel in many villages of the Samaritans.
25അവര്‍ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ വചനം സാക്ഷീകരിച്ചു പ്രസംഗിച്ചശേഷം ശമര്യക്കാരുടെ അനേക ഗ്രാമങ്ങളില്‍ സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു യെരൂശലേമിലേക്കു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.
26And the angel of the Lord spake unto Philip, saying, Arise, and go toward the south unto the way that goeth down from Jerusalem unto Gaza, which is desert.
26അനന്തരം കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ദൂതന്‍ ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനോടുനീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു തെക്കോട്ടു യെരൂശലേമില്‍ നിന്നു ഗസെക്കുള്ള നിര്‍ജ്ജനമായ വഴിയിലേക്കു പോക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
27And he arose and went: and, behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace queen of the Ethiopians, who had the charge of all her treasure, and had come to Jerusalem for to worship,
27അവന്‍ പുറപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നപ്പോള്‍ കന്ദക്ക എന്ന ഐത്യോപ്യാ രാജ്ഞിയുടെ ഒരു ഷണ്ഡനും മഹാനും അവളുടെ സകലഭണ്ഡാരത്തിന്നും മേല്‍വിചാരകനുമായ ഒരു ഐത്യോപ്യനെ കണ്ടു. അവന്‍ യെരൂശലേമില്‍ നമസ്കരിപ്പാന്‍ വന്നിട്ടു മടങ്ങിപ്പോകയില്‍
28Was returning, and sitting in his chariot read Esaias the prophet.
28തേരില്‍ ഇരുന്നു യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ പുസ്തകം വായിക്കയായിരുന്നു.
29Then the Spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thyself to this chariot.
29ആത്മാവു ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനോടുനീ അടുത്തുചെന്നു തേരിനോടു ചേര്‍ന്നുനടക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
30And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?
30ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ഔടിച്ചെല്ലുമ്പോള്‍ യെശയ്യാപ്രവാചകന്റെ പുസ്തകം വായിക്കുന്നതു കേട്ടുനീ വായിക്കുന്നതു ഗ്രഹിക്കുന്നുവോ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നു
31And he said, How can I, except some man should guide me? And he desired Philip that he would come up and sit with him.
31ഒരുത്തന്‍ പൊരുള്‍ തിരിച്ചുതരാഞ്ഞാല്‍ എങ്ങനെ ഗ്രഹിക്കും എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു, ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് കയറി തന്നോടുകൂടെ ഇരിക്കേണം എന്നു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
32The place of the scripture which he read was this, He was led as a sheep to the slaughter; and like a lamb dumb before his shearer, so opened he not his mouth:
32തിരുവെഴുത്തില്‍ അവന്‍ വായിച്ച ഭാഗമാവിതു
33In his humiliation his judgment was taken away: and who shall declare his generation? for his life is taken from the earth.
33“അറുക്കുവാനുള്ള ആടിനെപ്പോലെ അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോയി; രോമം കത്രിക്കുന്നവന്റെ മുമ്പാകെ മിണ്ടാതിരിക്കുന്ന കുഞ്ഞാടിനെപ്പോലെ അവന്‍ വായ് തുറക്കാതിരുന്നു. അവന്റെ താഴ്ചയില്‍ അവന്നു ന്യായം കിട്ടാതെ പോയി; അവന്റെ തലമുറയെ ആര്‍ വിവരിക്കും? ഭൂമിയില്‍ നിന്നു അവന്റെ ജീവനെ എടുത്തുകളയുന്നുവല്ലോ”
34And the eunuch answered Philip, and said, I pray thee, of whom speaketh the prophet this? of himself, or of some other man?
34ഷണ്ഡന്‍ ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനോടുഇതു പ്രവാചകന്‍ ആരെക്കുറിച്ചു പറയുന്നു? തന്നെക്കുറിച്ചോ മറ്റൊരുത്തനെക്കുറിച്ചോ.
35Then Philip opened his mouth, and began at the same scripture, and preached unto him Jesus.
35ഫിലിപ്പൊസ് ഈ തിരുവെഴുത്തു ആധാരമാക്കി അവനോടു യേശുവിനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ള സുവിശേഷം അറിയിപ്പാന്‍ തുടങ്ങി.
36And as they went on their way, they came unto a certain water: and the eunuch said, See, here is water; what doth hinder me to be baptized?
36അവര്‍ ഇങ്ങനെ വഴിപോകയില്‍ വെള്ളമുള്ളോരു സ്ഥലത്തു എത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ ഷണ്ഡന്‍ ഇതാ വെള്ളം ഞാന്‍ സ്നാനം ഏലക്കുന്നതിന്നു എന്തു വിരോധം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
37And Philip said, If thou believest with all thine heart, thou mayest. And he answered and said, I believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God.
37(അതിന്നു ഫിലിപ്പൊസ്നീ പൂര്‍ണ്ണ ഹൃദയത്തോടെ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു എങ്കില്‍ ആകാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. യേശു ക്രിസ്തു ദൈവപുത്രന്‍ എന്നു ഞാന്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അവന്‍ ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു)
38And he commanded the chariot to stand still: and they went down both into the water, both Philip and the eunuch; and he baptized him.
38അങ്ങനെ അവന്‍ തേര്‍ നിര്‍ത്തുവാന്‍ കല്പിച്ചു; ഫിലിപ്പൊസും ഷണ്ഡനും ഇരുവരും വെള്ളത്തില്‍ ഇറങ്ങി, അവന്‍ അവനെ സ്നാനം കഴിപ്പിച്ചു;
39And when they were come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.
39അവര്‍ വെള്ളത്തില്‍ നിന്നു കയറിയപ്പോള്‍ കര്‍ത്താവിന്റെ ആത്മാവു ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനെ എടുത്തു കൊണ്ടുപോയി; ഷണ്ഡന്‍ അവനെ പിന്നെ കണ്ടില്ല; അവന്‍ സന്തോഷിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു തന്റെ വഴിക്കു പോയി.
40But Philip was found at Azotus: and passing through he preached in all the cities, till he came to Caesarea.
40ഫിലിപ്പൊസിനെ പിന്നെ അസ്തോദില്‍ കണ്ടു; അവന്‍ സഞ്ചരിച്ചു എല്ലാ പട്ടണങ്ങളിലും സുവിശേഷം അറിയിച്ചുകൊണ്ടു കൈസര്യയില്‍ എത്തി.
