¹And when the people saw that Moses delayed to come down out of the mount, the people gathered themselves together unto Aaron, and said unto him, Up, make us gods, which shall go before us; for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

¹എന്നാല്‍ മോശെ പര്‍വ്വതത്തില്‍നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങിവരുവാന്‍ താമസിക്കുന്നു എന്നു ജനം കണ്ടപ്പോള്‍ ജനം അഹരോന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നുകൂടി അവനോടുനീ എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഞങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പില്‍ നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒരു ദൈവത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി തരിക; ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന പുരുഷനായ ഈ മോശെക്കു എന്തു ഭവിച്ചു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള്‍ അറിയുന്നില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²And Aaron said unto them, Break off the golden earrings, which are in the ears of your wives, of your sons, and of your daughters, and bring them unto me.

²അഹരോന്‍ അവരോടുനിങ്ങളുടെ ഭാര്യമാരുടെയും പുത്രന്മാരുടെയും പുത്രിമാരുടെയും കാതിലെ പൊന്‍ കുണുകൂ പറിച്ചു എന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന്‍ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³And all the people brake off the golden earrings which were in their ears, and brought them unto Aaron.

³ജനം ഒക്കെയും തങ്ങളുടെ കാതില്‍ നിന്നു പൊന്‍ കുണുകൂ പറിച്ചു അഹരോന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.

⁴And he received them at their hand, and fashioned it with a graving tool, after he had made it a molten calf: and they said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

⁴അവന്‍ അതു അവരുടെ കയ്യില്‍നിന്നു വാങ്ങി, ഒരു കൊത്തുളികൊണ്ടു ഭാഷവരുത്തി ഒരു കാളകൂട്ടിയെ വാര്‍ത്തുണ്ടാക്കി. അപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍യിസ്രായേലേ, ഇതു നിന്നെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവംആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁵And when Aaron saw it, he built an altar before it; and Aaron made proclamation, and said, To morrow is a feast to the LORD.

⁵അഹരോന്‍ അതു കണ്ടാറെ അതിന്നു മുമ്പാകെ ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതുനാളെ യഹോവേക്കു ഒരു ഉത്സവം എന്നു വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁶And they rose up early on the morrow, and offered burnt offerings, and brought peace offerings; and the people sat down to eat and to drink, and rose up to play.

⁶പിറ്റെന്നാള്‍ അവര്‍ അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു ഹോമയാഗങ്ങള്‍ കഴിച്ചു സമാധാനയാഗങ്ങളും അര്‍പ്പിച്ചു; ജനം ഭക്ഷിപ്പാനും കുടിപ്പാനും ഇരുന്നു കളിപ്പാന്‍ എഴുന്നേറ്റു.

⁷And the LORD said unto Moses, Go, get thee down; for thy people, which thou broughtest out of the land of Egypt, have corrupted themselves:

⁷അപ്പോള്‍ യഹോവ മോശെയോടുനീ ഇറങ്ങിച്ചെല്ലുക; നീ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ജനം തങ്ങളെ തന്നേ വഷളാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

⁸They have turned aside quickly out of the way which I commanded them: they have made them a molten calf, and have worshipped it, and have sacrificed thereunto, and said, These be thy gods, O Israel, which have brought thee up out of the land of Egypt.

⁸ഞാന്‍ അവരോടു കല്പിച്ച വഴി അവര്‍ വേഗത്തില്‍ വിട്ടുമാറി ഒരു കാളകൂട്ടിയെ വാര്‍ത്തുണ്ടാക്കി നമസ്കരിച്ചു അതിന്നു യാഗം കഴിച്ചുയിസ്രായേലേ, ഇതു നിന്നെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ദൈവം ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറയുന്നു എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

⁹And the LORD said unto Moses, I have seen this people, and, behold, it is a stiffnecked people:

⁹ഞാന്‍ ഈ ജനത്തെ നോക്കി, അതു ദുശ്ശാഠ്യമുള്ള ജനം ആകുന്നു എന്നു കണ്ടു.

¹⁰Now therefore let me alone, that my wrath may wax hot against them, and that I may consume them: and I will make of thee a great nation.

¹⁰അതുകൊണ്ടു എന്റെ കോപം അവര്‍ക്കും വിരോധമായി ജ്വലിച്ചു ഞാന്‍ അവരെ ദഹിപ്പിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു എന്നെ വിടുക; നിന്നെ ഞാന്‍ വലിയോരു ജാതിയാക്കും എന്നും യഹോവ മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

¹¹And Moses besought the LORD his God, and said, LORD, why doth thy wrath wax hot against thy people, which thou hast brought forth out of the land of Egypt with great power, and with a mighty hand?

¹¹എന്നാല്‍ മോശെ തന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവയോടു അപേക്ഷിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതുയഹോവേ, നീ മഹാബലംകൊണ്ടും ഭുജവീര്യംകൊണ്ടും മിസ്രയിംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി നിന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിക്കുന്നതു എന്തു?

¹²Wherefore should the Egyptians speak, and say, For mischief did he bring them out, to slay them in the mountains, and to consume them from the face of the earth? Turn from thy fierce wrath, and repent of this evil against thy people.

¹²മലകളില്‍വെച്ചു കൊന്നുകളവാനും ഭൂതലത്തില്‍നിന്നു നശിപ്പിപ്പാനും അവരെ ദോഷത്തിന്നായി അവന്‍ കൊണ്ടുപോയി എന്നു മിസ്രയീമ്യരെക്കൊണ്ടു പറയിക്കുന്നതു എന്തിന്നു? നിന്റെ ഉഗ്രകോപം വിട്ടുതിരിഞ്ഞു നിന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു വരുവാനുള്ള ഈ അനര്‍ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിക്കേണമേ.

¹³Remember Abraham, Isaac, and Israel, thy servants, to whom thou swarest by thine own self, and saidst unto them, I will multiply your seed as the stars of heaven, and all this land that I have spoken of will I give unto your seed, and they shall inherit it for ever.

¹³നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ അബ്രാഹാമിനെയും യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെയും യിസ്രായേലിനെയും ഔര്‍ക്കേണമേ. ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങളുടെ സന്തതിയെ ആകാശത്തിലെ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങളെപ്പോലെ വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കയും ഞാന്‍ അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ഈ ദേശം ഒക്കെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ സന്തതിക്കു കൊടുക്കയും അവര്‍ അതിനെ എന്നേക്കും അവകാശമായി പ്രാപിക്കയും ചെയ്യുമെന്നു നീ നിന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു തന്നേ അവരോടു സത്യംചെയ്തുവല്ലോ.

¹⁴And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people.

¹⁴അപ്പോള്‍ യഹോവ തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു വരുത്തും എന്നു കല്പിച്ച അനര്‍ത്ഥത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അനുതപിച്ചു.

¹⁵And Moses turned, and went down from the mount, and the two tables of the testimony were in his hand: the tables were written on both their sides; on the one side and on the other were they written.

¹⁵മോശെ തിരിഞ്ഞു പര്‍വ്വതത്തില്‍നിന്നു ഇറങ്ങി; സാക്ഷ്യത്തിന്റെ പലക രണ്ടും അവന്റെ കയ്യില്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു. പലക ഇപ്പുറവും അപ്പുറവുമായി ഇരുവശത്തും എഴുതിയതായിരുന്നു.

¹⁶And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

¹⁶പലക ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പണിയും പലകയില്‍ പതിഞ്ഞ എഴുത്തു ദൈവത്തിന്റെ എഴുത്തും ആയിരുന്നു.

¹⁷And when Joshua heard the noise of the people as they shouted, he said unto Moses, There is a noise of war in the camp.

¹⁷ജനം ആര്‍ത്തുവിളിക്കുന്ന ഘോഷം യോശുവ കേട്ടപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ മോശെയോടുപാളയത്തില്‍ യുദ്ധഘോഷം ഉണ്ടു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁸And he said, It is not the voice of them that shout for mastery, neither is it the voice of them that cry for being overcome: but the noise of them that sing do I hear.

¹⁸അതിന്നു അവന്‍ ജയിച്ചു ആര്‍ക്കുംന്നവരുടെ ഘോഷമല്ല, തോറ്റു നിലവിളിക്കുന്നവരുടെ നിലവിളിയുമല്ല, പ്രതിഗാനം ചെയ്യുന്നവരുടെ ഘോഷമത്രേ ഞാന്‍ കേള്‍ക്കുന്നതു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁹And it came to pass, as soon as he came nigh unto the camp, that he saw the calf, and the dancing: and Moses' anger waxed hot, and he cast the tables out of his hands, and brake them beneath the mount.

¹⁹അവന്‍ പാളയത്തിന്നു സമീപിച്ചപ്പോള്‍ കാളകൂട്ടിയെയും നൃത്തങ്ങളെയും കണ്ടു അപ്പോള്‍ മോശെയുടെ കോപം ജ്വലിച്ചു അവന്‍ പലകകളെ കയ്യില്‍നിന്നു എറിഞ്ഞു പര്‍വ്വതത്തിന്റെ അടിവാരത്തുവെച്ചു പൊട്ടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.

²⁰And he took the calf which they had made, and burnt it in the fire, and ground it to powder, and strewed it upon the water, and made the children of Israel drink of it.

²⁰അവര്‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരുന്ന കാളകൂട്ടിയെ അവന്‍ എടുത്തു തീയില്‍ ഇട്ടു ചുട്ടു അരെച്ചു പൊടിയാക്കി വെള്ളത്തില്‍ വിതറി യിസ്രായേല്‍മക്കളെ കുടിപ്പിച്ചു.

²¹And Moses said unto Aaron, What did this people unto thee, that thou hast brought so great a sin upon them?

²¹മോശെ അഹരോനോടുഈ ജനത്തിന്മേല്‍ ഇത്രവലിയ പാപം വരുത്തുവാന്‍ അവര്‍ നിന്നോടു എന്തു ചെയ്തു എന്നു ചോദിച്ചു.

²²And Aaron said, Let not the anger of my lord wax hot: thou knowest the people, that they are set on mischief.

²²അതിന്നു അഹരോന്‍ പറഞ്ഞതുയജമാനന്റെ കോപം ജ്വലിക്കരുതേ; ഈ ജനം ദോഷത്തിലേക്കു ചാഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നതെന്നു നീ അറിയുന്നുവല്ലോ.

²³For they said unto me, Make us gods, which shall go before us: for as for this Moses, the man that brought us up out of the land of Egypt, we wot not what is become of him.

²³ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു മുമ്പായി നടക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഒരു ദൈവത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കി തരേണം; ഞങ്ങളെ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തുനിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്ന പുരുഷനായ ഈ മോശെക്കു എന്തു ഭവിച്ചു എന്നു ഞങ്ങള്‍ അറിയുന്നില്ലല്ലോ എന്നു അവര്‍ എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁴And I said unto them, Whosoever hath any gold, let them break it off. So they gave it me: then I cast it into the fire, and there came out this calf.

²⁴ഞാന്‍ അവരോടുപൊന്നുള്ളവര്‍ അതു പറിച്ചെടുക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അവര്‍ അതു എന്റെ പക്കല്‍ തന്നു; ഞാന്‍ അതു തീയില്‍ ഇട്ടു ഈ കാളകൂട്ടി പുറത്തു വന്നു.

²⁵And when Moses saw that the people were naked; (for Aaron had made them naked unto their shame among their enemies:)

²⁵അവരുടെ വിരോധികള്‍ക്കു മുമ്പാകെ അവര്‍ ഹാസ്യമാകത്തക്കവണ്ണം അഹരോന്‍ അവരെ അഴിച്ചുവിട്ടു കളകയാല്‍ ജനം കെട്ടഴിഞ്ഞവരായി എന്നു കണ്ടിട്ടു മോശെ പാളയത്തിന്റെ വാതില്‍ക്കല്‍ നിന്നുകൊണ്ടു

²⁶Then Moses stood in the gate of the camp, and said, Who is on the LORD's side? let him come unto me. And all the sons of Levi gathered themselves together unto him.

²⁶യഹോവയുടെ പക്ഷത്തില്‍ ഉള്ളവന്‍ എന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വരട്ടെ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. എന്നാറെ ലേവ്യര്‍ എല്ലാവരും അവന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നുകൂടി.

²⁷And he said unto them, Thus saith the LORD God of Israel, Put every man his sword by his side, and go in and out from gate to gate throughout the camp, and slay every man his brother, and every man his companion, and every man his neighbor.

²⁷അവന്‍ അവരോടുനിങ്ങള്‍ ഔരോരുത്തന്‍ താന്താന്റെ വാള്‍ അരെക്കു കെട്ടി പാളയത്തില്‍കൂടി വാതില്‍തോറും കടന്നു ഔരോരുത്തന്‍ താന്താന്റെ സഹോദരനെയും താന്താന്റെ സ്നേഹിതനെയും താന്താന്റെ കൂട്ടുകാരനെയും കൊന്നുകളവിന്‍ എന്നിങ്ങനെ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവ കല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²⁸And the children of Levi did according to the word of Moses: and there fell of the people that day about three thousand men.

²⁸ലേവ്യര്‍ മോശെ പറഞ്ഞതു പോലെ ചെയ്തു അന്നു ഏകദേശം മൂവായിരം പേര്‍ വീണു.

²⁹For Moses had said, Consecrate yourselves today to the LORD, even every man upon his son, and upon his brother; that he may bestow upon you a blessing this day.

²⁹യഹോവ ഇന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു അനുഗ്രഹം നല്കേണ്ടതിന്നു നിങ്ങള്‍ ഇന്നു ഔരോരുത്തന്‍ താന്താന്റെ മകന്നും താന്താന്റെ സഹോദരന്നും വിരോധമായി യഹോവേക്കു നിങ്ങളെ തന്നേ ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുപ്പിന്‍ എന്നു മോശെ പറഞ്ഞു.

³⁰And it came to pass on the morrow, that Moses said unto the people, Ye have sinned a great sin: and now I will go up unto the LORD; peradventure I shall make an atonement for your sin.

³⁰പിറ്റെന്നാള്‍ മോശെനിങ്ങള്‍ ഒരു മഹാപാപം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു; ഇപ്പോള്‍ ഞാന്‍ യഹോവയുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ കയറിച്ചെല്ലും; പക്ഷേ നിങ്ങളുടെ പാപത്തിന്നുവേണ്ടി പ്രായശ്ചിത്തം വരുത്തുവാന്‍ എനിക്കു ഇടയാകും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³¹And Moses returned unto the LORD, and said, Oh, this people have sinned a great sin, and have made them gods of gold.

³¹അങ്ങനെ മോശെ യഹോവയുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ മടങ്ങിച്ചെന്നു പറഞ്ഞതു എന്തെന്നാല്‍അയ്യോ, ഈ ജനം മഹാപാതകം ചെയ്തു പൊന്നുകൊണ്ടു തങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ഒരു ദൈവത്തെ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയിരിക്കുന്നു.

³²Yet now, if thou wilt forgive their sin--; and if not, blot me, I pray thee, out of thy book which thou hast written.

³²എങ്കിലും നീ അവരുടെ പാപം ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ; അല്ലെങ്കില്‍ നീ എഴുതിയ നിന്റെ പുസ്തകത്തില്‍നിന്നു എന്റെ പേര്‍ മായിച്ചുകളയേണമേ.

³³And the LORD said unto Moses, Whosoever hath sinned against me, him will I blot out of my book.

³³യഹോവ മോശെയോടുഎന്നോടു പാപം ചെയ്തവന്റെ പേര്‍ ഞാന്‍ എന്റെ പുസ്തകത്തില്‍നിന്നു മായിച്ചുകളയും.

³⁴Therefore now go, lead the people unto the place of which I have spoken unto thee: behold, mine Angel shall go before thee: nevertheless in the day when I visit I will visit their sin upon them.

³⁴ആകയാല്‍ നീ പോയി ഞാന്‍ നിന്നോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്ത ദേശത്തേക്കു ജനത്തെ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു പോക; എന്റെ ദൂതന്‍ നിന്റെ മുമ്പില്‍ നടക്കും. എന്നാല്‍ എന്റെ സന്ദര്‍ശനദിവസത്തില്‍ ഞാന്‍ അവരുടെ പാപം അവരുടെമേല്‍ സന്ദര്‍ശിക്കും എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

³⁵And the LORD plagued the people, because they made the calf, which Aaron made.

³⁵അഹരോന്‍ ഉണ്ടാക്കിയ കാളകൂട്ടിയെ ജനം ഉണ്ടാക്കിച്ചതാകകൊണ്ടു യഹോവ അവരെ ദണ്ഡിപ്പിച്ചു.
