1Now when the adversaries of Judah and Benjamin heard that the children of the captivity builded the temple unto the LORD God of Israel;
1പ്രവാസികള്‍ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു മന്ദിരം പണിയുന്നു എന്നു യെഹൂദയുടെയും ബെന്യാമീന്റെയും വൈരികള്‍ കേട്ടപ്പോള്‍
2Then they came to Zerubbabel, and to the chief of the fathers, and said unto them, Let us build with you: for we seek your God, as ye do; and we do sacrifice unto him since the days of Esarhaddon king of Assur, which brought us up hither.
2അവര്‍ സെരുബ്ബാബേലിന്റെയും പിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാരുടെയും അടുക്കല്‍ വന്നു അവരോടുഞങ്ങള്‍ നിങ്ങളോടുകൂടെ പണിയട്ടെ; നിങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തെ നിങ്ങളെന്നപോലെ ഞങ്ങളും അന്വേഷിക്കയും ഞങ്ങള്‍ അവന്നു, ഞങ്ങളെ ഇവിടെ കൊണ്ടുവന്ന അശ്ശൂര്‍രാജാവായ എസര്‍ഹദ്ദോന്റെ കാലംമുതല്‍ യാഗം കഴിക്കയും ചെയ്തുപോരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
3But Zerubbabel, and Jeshua, and the rest of the chief of the fathers of Israel, said unto them, Ye have nothing to do with us to build an house unto our God; but we ourselves together will build unto the LORD God of Israel, as king Cyrus the king of Persia hath commanded us.
3അതിന്നു സെരുബ്ബാബേലും യേശുവയും ശേഷം യിസ്രായേല്‍പിതൃഭവനത്തലവന്മാരും അവരോടുഞങ്ങളുടെ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ ആലയം പണിയുന്നതില്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ഞങ്ങളുമായി കാര്യമൊന്നുമില്ല; പാര്‍സിരാജാവായ കോരെശ്രാജാവു ഞങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ ഞങ്ങള്‍ തന്നേ യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ദൈവമായ യഹോവേക്കു അതു പണിതുകൊള്ളാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
4Then the people of the land weakened the hands of the people of Judah, and troubled them in building,
4ആകയാല്‍ ദേശനിവാസികള്‍ യെഹൂദാജനത്തിന്നു ധൈര്യക്ഷയം വരുത്തി പണിയാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവരെ പേടിപ്പിച്ചു.
5And hired counsellors against them, to frustrate their purpose, all the days of Cyrus king of Persia, even until the reign of Darius king of Persia.
5അവരുടെ ഉദ്ദേശം നിഷ്ഫലമാക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവര്‍ പാര്‍സിരാജാവായ കോരെശിന്റെ കാലത്തൊക്കെയും പാര്‍സിരാജാവായ ദാര്‍യ്യാവേശിന്റെ വാഴ്ചവരെയും അവര്‍ക്കും വിരോധമായി കാര്യസ്ഥന്മാരെ കൈക്കൂലി കൊടുത്തു വശത്താക്കി.
6And in the reign of Ahasuerus, in the beginning of his reign, wrote they unto him an accusation against the inhabitants of Judah and Jerusalem.
6അഹശ്വേരോശിന്റെ കാലത്തു, അവന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ ആരംഭത്തില്‍ തന്നേ, അവര്‍ യെഹൂദയിലെയും യെരൂശലേമിലെയും നിവാസികള്‍ക്കു വിരോധമായി അന്യായപത്രം എഴുതി അയച്ചു.
7And in the days of Artaxerxes wrote Bishlam, Mithredath, Tabeel, and the rest of their companions, unto Artaxerxes king of Persia; and the writing of the letter was written in the Syrian tongue, and interpreted in the Syrian tongue.
7അര്‍ത്ഥഹ് ശഷ്ടാവിന്റെ കാലത്തു ബിശലാമും മിത്രെദാത്തും താബെയേലും ശേഷം അവരുടെ കൂട്ടക്കാരും പാസിരാജാവായ അര്‍ത്ഥഹ് ശഷ്ടാവിന്നു ഒരു പത്രിക എഴുതി അയച്ചു; പത്രിക അരാമ്യാക്ഷരത്തില്‍, അരാമ്യഭാഷയില്‍ തന്നേ എഴുതിയിരുന്നു.
8Rehum the chancellor and Shimshai the scribe wrote a letter against Jerusalem to Artaxerxes the king in this sort:
8ധര്‍മ്മാദ്ധ്യക്ഷനായ രെഹൂമും രായസക്കാരനായ ശിംശായിയും യെരൂശലേമിന്നു വിരോധമായി അര്‍ത്ഥഹ് ശഷ്ടാരാജാവിന്നു ഒരു പത്രിക എഴുതി അയച്ചു.
9Then wrote Rehum the chancellor, and Shimshai the scribe, and the rest of their companions; the Dinaites, the Apharsathchites, the Tarpelites, the Apharsites, the Archevites, the Babylonians, the Susanchites, the Dehavites, and the Elamites,
9ധര്‍മ്മാദ്ധ്യക്ഷന്‍ രെഹൂമും രായസക്കാരന്‍ ശിംശായിയും ശേഷം അവരുടെ കൂട്ടക്കാരായ ദീന്യര്‍, അഫര്‍സത്യര്‍, തര്‍പ്പേല്യര്‍, അഫര്‍സ്യര്‍, അര്‍ക്കവ്യര്‍, ബാബേല്യര്‍, ശൂശന്യര്‍, ദേഹാവ്യര്‍, ഏലാമ്യര്‍ എന്നിവരും
10And the rest of the nations whom the great and noble Asnapper brought over, and set in the cities of Samaria, and the rest that are on this side the river, and at such a time.
10മഹാനും ശ്രേഷ്ഠനുമായ അസ്നപ്പാര്‍ പിടിച്ചുകൊണ്ടുവന്നു ശമര്‍യ്യാപട്ടണങ്ങളിലും നദിക്കു ഇക്കരെ മറ്റു ദിക്കുകളിലും പാര്‍പ്പിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ശേഷംജാതികളും ഇത്യാദി.
11This is the copy of the letter that they sent unto him, even unto Artaxerxes the king; Thy servants the men on this side the river, and at such a time.
11അവര്‍ അര്‍ത്ഥഹ് ശഷ്ടാരാജാവിന്നു അയച്ച പത്രികയുടെ പകര്‍പ്പു എന്തെന്നാല്‍നദിക്കു ഇക്കരെയുള്ള നിന്റെ ദാസന്മാരായ പുരുഷന്മാര്‍ ഇത്യാദിരാജാവു ബോധിപ്പാന്‍
12Be it known unto the king, that the Jews which came up from thee to us are come unto Jerusalem, building the rebellious and the bad city, and have set up the walls thereof, and joined the foundations.
12തിരുമുമ്പില്‍നിന്നു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ഞങ്ങളുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ യെരൂശലേമില്‍ വന്നിരിക്കുന്ന യെഹൂദന്മാര്‍ മത്സരവും ദുഷ്ടതയുമുള്ള ആ പട്ടണം പണികയും അതിന്റെ മതിലുകള്‍ കെട്ടുകയും അടിസ്ഥാനങ്ങള്‍ നന്നാക്കുകയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
13Be it known now unto the king, that, if this city be builded, and the walls set up again, then will they not pay toll, tribute, and custom, and so thou shalt endamage the revenue of the kings.
13പട്ടണം പണിതു മതിലുകള്‍ കെട്ടിത്തീര്‍ന്നാല്‍ അവര്‍ കരമോ നികുതിയോ ചുങ്കമോ ഒന്നും അടെക്കയില്ല; അങ്ങനെ ഒടുവില്‍ അവര്‍ രാജാക്കന്മാര്‍ക്കും നഷ്ടം വരുത്തും എന്നു രാജാവിന്നു ബോധിച്ചിരിക്കേണം.
14Now because we have maintenance from the king's palace, and it was not meet for us to see the king's dishonour, therefore have we sent and certified the king;
14എന്നാല്‍ ഞങ്ങള്‍ കോവിലകത്തെ ഉപ്പു തിന്നുന്നവരാകയാലും രാജാവിന്നു അപമാനം വരുന്നതു കണ്ടുകൊണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നതു ഞങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ഉചിതമല്ലായ്കയാലും ഞങ്ങള്‍ ആളയച്ചു രാജാവിനെ ഇതു ബോധിപ്പിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നു.
15That search may be made in the book of the records of thy fathers: so shalt thou find in the book of the records, and know that this city is a rebellious city, and hurtful unto kings and provinces, and that they have moved sedition within the same of old time: for which cause was this city destroyed.
15അവിടത്തെ പിതാക്കന്മാരുടെ വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില്‍ നോക്കിയാല്‍ ഈ പട്ടണം മത്സരവും രാജാക്കന്മാര്‍ക്കും സംസ്ഥാനങ്ങള്‍ക്കും ഉപദ്രവവും ഉള്ള പട്ടണം എന്നും അതില്‍ അവര്‍ പുരാതനമേ കലഹം ഉണ്ടാക്കിയതിനാല്‍ ഈ പട്ടണം നശിച്ചുകിടക്കുന്നു എന്നും വൃത്താന്തപുസ്തകത്തില്‍നിന്നു അറിവാകും.
16We certify the king that, if this city be builded again, and the walls thereof set up, by this means thou shalt have no portion on this side the river.
16ഈ പട്ടണം പണികയും അതിന്റെ മതിലുകള്‍ കെട്ടിത്തീരുകയും ചെയ്താല്‍ അതു നിമിത്തം അവിടത്തേക്കു നദിക്കു ഇക്കരെ ഒരു അവകാശവും ഉണ്ടായിരിക്കയില്ലെന്നു രാജാവിനെ ഉണര്‍ത്തിച്ചുകൊള്ളുന്നു.
17Then sent the king an answer unto Rehum the chancellor, and to Shimshai the scribe, and to the rest of their companions that dwell in Samaria, and unto the rest beyond the river, Peace, and at such a time.
17അതിന്നു രാജാവു ധര്‍മ്മാദ്ധ്യക്ഷനായ രെഹൂമിന്നും രായസക്കാരനായ ശിംശായിക്കും ശമര്‍യ്യാനിവാസികളായ അവരുടെ കൂട്ടക്കാര്‍ക്കും നദിക്കും അക്കരെയുള്ള ശേഷംപേര്‍ക്കും മറുപടി എഴുതി അയച്ചതു എന്തെന്നാല്‍നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു കുശലം ഇത്യാദി;
18The letter which ye sent unto us hath been plainly read before me.
18നിങ്ങള്‍ കൊടുത്തയച്ച പത്രിക നമ്മുടെ സന്നിധിയില്‍ വ്യക്തമായി വായിച്ചുകേട്ടു.
19And I commanded, and search hath been made, and it is found that this city of old time hath made insurrection against kings, and that rebellion and sedition have been made therein.
19നാം കല്പന കൊടുത്തിട്ടു അവര്‍ ശോധനചെയ്തു നോക്കിയപ്പോള്‍ ആ പട്ടണം പുരാതനമേ രാജാക്കന്മാരോടു എതിര്‍ത്തുനിലക്കുന്നതു എന്നും അതില്‍ മത്സരവും കലഹവും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു എന്നും
20There have been mighty kings also over Jerusalem, which have ruled over all countries beyond the river; and toll, tribute, and custom, was paid unto them.
20യെരൂശലേമില്‍ ബലവാന്മാരായ രാജാക്കന്മാര്‍ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; അവര്‍ നദിക്കു അക്കരെയുള്ള നാടൊക്കെയും വാണു കരവും നികുതിയും ചുങ്കവും വാങ്ങിവന്നു എന്നും കണ്ടിരിക്കുന്നു.
21Give ye now commandment to cause these men to cease, and that this city be not builded, until another commandment shall be given from me.
21ആകയാല്‍ നാം മറ്റൊരു കല്പന അയക്കുന്നതുവരെ അവര്‍ പട്ടണം പണിയുന്നതു നിര്‍ത്തിവെക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആജ്ഞാപിപ്പിന്‍ .
22Take heed now that ye fail not to do this: why should damage grow to the hurt of the kings?
22നിങ്ങള്‍ അതില്‍ ഉപേക്ഷചെയ്യാതെ ജാഗ്രതയായിരിപ്പിന്‍ ; രാജാക്കന്മാര്‍ക്കും നഷ്ടവും ഹാനിയും വരരുതു.
23Now when the copy of king Artaxerxes' letter was read before Rehum, and Shimshai the scribe, and their companions, they went up in haste to Jerusalem unto the Jews, and made them to cease by force and power.
23അര്‍ത്ഥഹ് ശഷ്ടാരാജാവിന്റെ എഴുത്തിന്റെ പകര്‍പ്പു രെഹൂമും രായസക്കാരനായ ശിംശായിയും അവരുടെ കൂട്ടക്കാരും വായിച്ചു കേട്ടശേഷം അവര്‍ യെരൂശലേമില്‍ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ ബദ്ധപ്പെട്ടു ചെന്നു ബലാല്‍ക്കാരത്തോടെ അവരെ ഹേമിച്ചു പണിമുടക്കി.
24Then ceased the work of the house of God which is at Jerusalem. So it ceased unto the second year of the reign of Darius king of Persia.
24അങ്ങനെ യെരൂശലേമിലെ ദൈവാലയത്തിന്റെ പണി മുടങ്ങി; പാര്‍സിരാജാവായ ദാര്‍യ്യാവേശിന്റെ വാഴ്ചയുടെ രണ്ടാം ആണ്ടുവരെ പണി മുടങ്ങിക്കിടന്നു.
