¹And the whole multitude of them arose, and led him unto Pilate.

¹അനന്തരം അവര്‍ എല്ലാവരും കൂട്ടമേ എഴുന്നേറ്റു അവനെ പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുപോയി

²And they began to accuse him, saying, We found this fellow perverting the nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Caesar, saying that he himself is Christ a King.

²ഇവന്‍ ഞങ്ങളുടെ ജാതിയെ മറിച്ചുകളകയും താന്‍ ക്രിസ്തു എന്ന രാജാവാകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞുകൊണ്ടു കൈസര്‍ക്കും കരം കൊടുക്കുന്നതു വിരോധിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നതായി ഞങ്ങള്‍ കണ്ടു എന്നു കുറ്റം ചുമത്തിത്തുടങ്ങി.

³And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the King of the Jews? And he answered him and said, Thou sayest it.

³പീലാത്തൊസ് അവനോടുനീ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവൊ എന്നു ചോദിച്ചതിന്നുഞാന്‍ ആകുന്നു എന്നു അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറഞ്ഞു.

⁴Then said Pilate to the chief priests and to the people, I find no fault in this man.

⁴പീലാത്തൊസ് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരോടും പുരുഷാരത്തോടുംഞാന്‍ ഈ മനുഷ്യനില്‍ കുറ്റം ഒന്നും കാണുന്നില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁵And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all Jewry, beginning from Galilee to this place.

⁵അതിന്നു അവര്‍അവന്‍ ഗലീലയില്‍ തുടങ്ങി യെഹൂദ്യയില്‍ എങ്ങും ഇവിടത്തോളവും പഠിപ്പിച്ചു ജനത്തെ കലഹിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിഷ്കര്‍ഷിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁶When Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilaean.

⁶ഇതു കേട്ടിട്ടു ഈ മനുഷ്യന്‍ ഗലീലക്കാരനോ എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് ചോദിച്ചു;

⁷And as soon as he knew that he belonged unto Herod's jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself also was at Jerusalem at that time.

⁷ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ അധികാരത്തില്‍ ഉള്‍പ്പെട്ടവന്‍ എന്നറിഞ്ഞിട്ടു, അന്നു യെരൂശലേമില്‍ വന്നു പാര്‍ക്കുംന്ന ഹെരോദാവിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ അവനെ അയച്ചു.

⁸And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long season, because he had heard many things of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.

⁸ഹെരോദാവു യേശുവിനെ കണ്ടിട്ടു അത്യന്തം സന്തോഷിച്ചു; അവനെക്കുറിച്ചു കേട്ടിരുന്നതുകൊണ്ടു അവനെ കാണ്മാന്‍ വളരെക്കാലമായി ഇച്ഛിച്ചു, അവന്‍ വല്ല അടയാളവും ചെയ്യുന്നതു കാണാം എന്നു ആശിച്ചിരുന്നു.

⁹Then he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.

⁹ഏറിയോന്നു ചോദിച്ചിട്ടും അവന്‍ അവനോടു ഉത്തരം ഒന്നും പറഞ്ഞില്ല.

¹⁰And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him.

¹⁰മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരും ശാസ്ത്രിമാരും കഠിനമായി അവനെ കുറ്റം ചുമത്തിക്കൊണ്ടു നിന്നു.

¹¹And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.

¹¹ഹെരോദാവു തന്റെ പടയാളികളുമായി അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചു നിസ്സാരനാക്കി ശുഭ്രവസ്ത്രം ധരിപ്പിച്ചു പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ മടക്കി അയച്ചു.

¹²And the same day Pilate and Herod were made friends together: for before they were at enmity between themselves.

¹²അന്നു ഹെരോദാവും പീലാത്തൊസും തമ്മില്‍ സ്നേഹിതന്മാരായിത്തീര്‍ന്നു; മുമ്പെ അവര്‍ തമ്മില്‍ വൈരമായിരുന്നു.

¹³And Pilate, when he had called together the chief priests and the rulers and the people,

¹³പീലാത്തൊസ് മഹാപുരോഹിതന്മാരെയും പ്രമാണികളെയും ജനത്തെയും വിളിച്ചു കൂട്ടി.

¹⁴Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: and, behold, I, having examined him before you, have found no fault in this man touching those things whereof ye accuse him:

¹⁴അവരോടുഈ മനുഷ്യന്‍ ജനത്തെ മത്സരിപ്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു നിങ്ങള്‍ അവനെ എന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ കൊണ്ടുവന്നുവല്ലോ; ഞാനോ നിങ്ങളുടെ മുമ്പാകെ വിസ്തരിച്ചിട്ടും നിങ്ങള്‍ ചുമത്തിയ കുറ്റം ഒന്നും ഇവനില്‍ കണ്ടില്ല;

¹⁵No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him; and, lo, nothing worthy of death is done unto him.

¹⁵ഹെരോദാവും കണ്ടില്ല; അവന്‍ അവനെ നമ്മുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ മടക്കി അയച്ചുവല്ലോ; ഇവന്‍ മരണയോഗ്യമായതു ഒന്നും പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചിട്ടില്ല സ്പഷ്ടം;

¹⁶I will therefore chastise him, and release him.

¹⁶അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന്‍ അവനെ അടിപ്പിച്ചു വിട്ടയക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

¹⁷(For of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.)

¹⁷ഇവനെ നീക്കിക്കളക; ബറബ്ബാസിനെ വിട്ടു തരിക എന്നു എല്ലാവരുംകൂടെ നിലവിളിച്ചു,

¹⁸And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:

¹⁸(ഉത്സവന്തോറും ഒരുത്തനെ വിട്ടുകൊടുക്ക പതിവായിരുന്നു)

¹⁹(Who for a certain sedition made in the city, and for murder, was cast into prison.)

¹⁹അവനോ നഗരത്തില്‍ ഉണ്ടായ ഒരു കലഹവും കുലയും ഹേതുവായി തടവിലായവന്‍ ആയിരുന്നു.

²⁰Pilate therefore, willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.

²⁰പീലാത്തൊസ് യേശുവിനെ വിടുവിപ്പാന്‍ ഇച്ഛിച്ചിട്ടു പിന്നെയും അവരോടു വിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു.

²¹But they cried, saying, Crucify him, crucify him.

²¹അവരോഅവനെ ക്രൂശിക്ക, ക്രൂശിക്ക എന്നു എതിരെ നിലവിളിച്ചു.

²²And he said unto them the third time, Why, what evil hath he done? I have found no cause of death in him: I will therefore chastise him, and let him go.

²²അവന്‍ മൂന്നാമതും അവരോടുഅവന്‍ ചെയ്ത ദോഷം എന്തു? മരണയോഗ്യമായതു ഒന്നും അവനില്‍ കണ്ടില്ല; അതുകൊണ്ടു ഞാന്‍ അവനെ അടിപ്പിച്ചു വിട്ടയക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

²³And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified. And the voices of them and of the chief priests prevailed.

²³അവരോ അവനെ ക്രൂശിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ഉറക്കെ മുട്ടിച്ചു ചോദിച്ചു; അവരുടെ നിലവിളി ഫലിച്ചു;

²⁴And Pilate gave sentence that it should be as they required.

²⁴അവരുടെ അപേക്ഷപോലെ ആകട്ടെ എന്നു പീലാത്തൊസ് വിധിച്ചു.

²⁵And he released unto them him that for sedition and murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.

²⁵കലഹവും കുലയും ഹേതുവായി തടവിലായവനെ അവരുടെ അപേക്ഷപോലെ വിട്ടുകൊടുക്കയും യേശുവിനെ അവരുടെ ഇഷ്ടത്തിന്നു ഏല്പിക്കയും ചെയ്തു.

²⁶And as they led him away, they laid hold upon one Simon, a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear it after Jesus.

²⁶അവനെ കൊണ്ടുപോകുമ്പോള്‍ വയലില്‍ നിന്നു വരുന്ന ശിമോന്‍ എന്ന ഒരു കുറേനക്കാരനെ അവര്‍ പിടിച്ചു ക്രൂശ് ചുമപ്പിച്ചു യേശുവിന്റെ പിന്നാലെ നടക്കുമാറാക്കി.

²⁷And there followed him a great company of people, and of women, which also bewailed and lamented him.

²⁷ഒരു വലിയ ജനസമൂഹവും അവനെച്ചൊല്ലി വിലപിച്ചു മുറയിടുന്ന അനേകം സ്ത്രീകളും അവന്റെ പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു.

²⁸But Jesus turning unto them said, Daughters of Jerusalem, weep not for me, but weep for yourselves, and for your children.

²⁸യേശു തിരിഞ്ഞു അവരെ നോക്കിയെരൂശലേംപുത്രിമാരേ, എന്നെച്ചൊല്ലി കരയേണ്ടാ, നിങ്ങളെയും നിങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളെയും ചൊല്ലി കരവിന്‍ .

²⁹For, behold, the days are coming, in the which they shall say, Blessed are the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave suck.

²⁹മച്ചികളും പ്രസവിക്കാത്ത ഉദരങ്ങളും കുടിപ്പിക്കാത്ത മുലകളും ഭാഗ്യമുള്ളവ എന്നു പറയുന്ന കാലം വരുന്നു.

³⁰Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us.

³⁰അന്നു മലകളോടുഞങ്ങളുടെ മേല്‍ വീഴുവിന്‍ എന്നും കുന്നുകളോടുഞങ്ങളെ മൂടുവിന്‍ എന്നും പറഞ്ഞു തുടങ്ങും.

³¹For if they do these things in a green tree, what shall be done in the dry?

³¹പച്ചമരത്തോടു ഇങ്ങനെ ചെയ്താല്‍ ഉണങ്ങിയതിന്നു എന്തു ഭവിക്കും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³²And there were also two other, malefactors, led with him to be put to death.

³²ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരായ വേറെ രണ്ടുപേരെയും അവനോടുകൂടെ കൊല്ലേണ്ടതിന്നു കൊണ്ടുപോയി.

³³And when they were come to the place, which is called Calvary, there they crucified him, and the malefactors, one on the right hand, and the other on the left.

³³തലയോടിടം എന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു എത്തിയപ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ അവിടെ അവനെയും ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരെയും, ഒരുത്തനെ വലത്തും ഒരുത്തനെ ഇടത്തുമായി, ക്രൂശിച്ചു.

³⁴Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.

³⁴എന്നാല്‍ യേശുപിതാവേ, ഇവര്‍ ചെയ്യുന്നതു ഇന്നതു എന്നു അറിയായ്കകൊണ്ടു ഇവരോടു ക്ഷമിക്കേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അനന്തരം അവര്‍ അവന്റെ വസ്ത്രം വിഭാഗിച്ചു ചീട്ടിട്ടു.

³⁵And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided him, saying, He saved others; let him save himself, if he be Christ, the chosen of God.

³⁵ജനം നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു നിന്നു. ഇവന്‍ മറുള്ളവരെ രക്ഷിച്ചുവല്ലോ; ദൈവം തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്ത ക്രിസ്തു എങ്കില്‍ തന്നെത്താന്‍ രക്ഷിക്കട്ടെ എന്നു പ്രധാനികളും പരിഹസിച്ചുപറഞ്ഞു.

³⁶And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and offering him vinegar,

³⁶പടയാളികളും അവനെ പരിഹസിച്ചു അടുത്തു വന്നു അവന്നു പുളിച്ചവീഞ്ഞു കാണിച്ചു.

³⁷And saying, If thou be the king of the Jews, save thyself.

³⁷നീ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എങ്കില്‍ നിന്നെത്തന്നേ രക്ഷിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

³⁸And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, and Latin, and Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.

³⁸ഇവന്‍ യെഹൂദന്മാരുടെ രാജാവു എന്നു ഒരു മേലെഴുത്തും അവന്റെ മീതെ ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു.

³⁹And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

³⁹തൂക്കിയ ദുഷ്പ്രവൃത്തിക്കാരില്‍ ഒരുത്തന്‍ നീ ക്രിസ്തു അല്ലയോ? നിന്നെത്തന്നേയും ഞങ്ങളെയും രക്ഷിക്ക എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു അവനെ ദുഷിച്ചു.

⁴⁰But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?

⁴⁰മറ്റവനോ അവനെ ശാസിച്ചുസമശിക്ഷാവിധിയില്‍ തന്നേ ആയിട്ടും നീ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നില്ലയോ?

⁴¹And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of our deeds: but this man hath done nothing amiss.

⁴¹നാമോ ന്യായമായിട്ടു ശിക്ഷ അനുഭവിക്കുന്നു; നാം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചതിന്നു യോഗ്യമായതല്ലോ കിട്ടുന്നതു; ഇവനോ അരുതാത്തതു ഒന്നും ചെയ്തിട്ടില്ല എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁴²And he said unto Jesus, Lord, remember me when thou comest into thy kingdom.

⁴²പിന്നെ അവന്‍ യേശുവേ, നീ രാജത്വം പ്രാപിച്ചു വരുമ്പോള്‍ എന്നെ ഔര്‍ത്തുകൊള്ളേണമേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁴³And Jesus said unto him, Verily I say unto thee, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.

⁴³യേശു അവനോടുഇന്നു നീ എന്നോടുകൂടെ പറുദീസയില്‍ ഇരിക്കും എന്നു ഞാന്‍ സത്യമായി നിന്നോടു പറയുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁴⁴And it was about the sixth hour, and there was a darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.

⁴⁴ഏകദേശം ആറാം മണി നേരമായപ്പോള്‍ സൂര്യന്‍ ഇരുണ്ടുപോയിട്ടു ഒമ്പതാം മണിവരെ ദേശത്തു ഒക്കെയും അന്ധകാരം ഉണ്ടായി.

⁴⁵And the sun was darkened, and the veil of the temple was rent in the midst.

⁴⁵ദൈവമന്ദിരത്തിലെ തിരശ്ശീല നടുവെ ചീന്തിപ്പോയി.

⁴⁶And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commend my spirit: and having said thus, he gave up the ghost.

⁴⁶യേശു അത്യുച്ചത്തില്‍ പിതാവേ, ഞാന്‍ എന്റെ ആത്മാവിനെ തൃക്കയ്യില്‍ ഏല്പിക്കുന്നു എന്നു നിലവിളിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞു; ഇതു പറഞ്ഞിട്ടു പ്രാണനെ വിട്ടു.

⁴⁷Now when the centurion saw what was done, he glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.

⁴⁷ഈ സംഭവിച്ചതു ശതാധിപന്‍ കണ്ടിട്ടുഈ മനുഷ്യന്‍ വാസ്തവമായി നീതിമാന്‍ ആയിരുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു ദൈവത്തെ മഹത്വപ്പെടുത്തി.

⁴⁸And all the people that came together to that sight, beholding the things which were done, smote their breasts, and returned.

⁴⁸കാണ്മാന്‍ കൂടി വന്ന പുരുഷാരം ഒക്കെയും സംഭവിച്ചതു കണ്ടിട്ടു മാറത്തടിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി.

⁴⁹And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off, beholding these things.

⁴⁹അവന്റെ പരിചയക്കാര്‍ എല്ലാവരും ഗലീലയില്‍ നിന്നു അവനെ അനുഗമിച്ചസ്ത്രീകളും ഇതു നോക്കിക്കൊണ്ടു ദൂരത്തു നിന്നു.

⁵⁰And, behold, there was a man named Joseph, a counsellor; and he was a good man, and a just:

⁵⁰അരിമത്യ എന്നൊരു യെഹൂദ്യപട്ടണക്കാരനായി നല്ലവനും നീതിമാനും ദൈവരാജ്യത്തെ കാത്തിരുന്നവനുമായ യോസേഫ് എന്നൊരു മന്ത്രി —

⁵¹(The same had not consented to the counsel and deed of them;) he was of Arimathaea, a city of the Jews: who also himself waited for the kingdom of God.

⁵¹അവന്‍ അവരുടെ ആലോചനെക്കും പ്രവൃത്തിക്കും അനുകൂലമല്ലായിരുന്നു —

⁵²This man went unto Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus.

⁵²പീലാത്തൊസിന്റെ അടുക്കല്‍ ചെന്നു യേശുവിന്റെ ശരീരം ചോദിച്ചു,

⁵³And he took it down, and wrapped it in linen, and laid it in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid.

⁵³അതു ഇറക്കി ഒരു ശീലയില്‍ പൊതിഞ്ഞു പാറയില്‍ വെട്ടിയിരുന്നതും ആരെയും ഒരിക്കലും വെച്ചിട്ടില്ലാത്തതുമായ കല്ലറയില്‍ വെച്ചു. അന്നു ഒരുക്ക നാള്‍ ആയിരുന്നു, ശബ്ബത്തും ആരംഭിച്ചു.

⁵⁴And that day was the preparation, and the sabbath drew on.

⁵⁴ഗലീലയില്‍ നിന്നു അവനോടുകൂടെ പോന്ന സ്ത്രീകളും പിന്നാലെ ചെന്നു കല്ലറയും അവന്റെ ശരീരം വെച്ച വിധവും കണ്ടിട്ടു

⁵⁵And the women also, which came with him from Galilee, followed after, and beheld the sepulchre, and how his body was laid.

⁵⁵മടങ്ങിപ്പോയി സുഗന്ധവര്‍ഗ്ഗവും പരിമളതൈലവും ഒരുക്കി; കല്പന അനുസരിച്ചു ശബ്ബത്തില്‍ സ്വസ്ഥമായിരന്നു.

⁵⁶And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath day according to the commandment.
