1And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,
1യഹോവ പിന്നെയും മോശെയോടു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു
2Send thou men, that they may search the land of Canaan, which I give unto the children of Israel: of every tribe of their fathers shall ye send a man, every one a ruler among them.
2യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള്ക്കു ഞാന് കൊടുപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്ന കനാന് ദേശം ഒറ്റുനോക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ആളുകളെ അയക്ക; അതതു ഗോത്രത്തില്നിന്നു ഔരോ ആളെ അയക്കേണം; അവരെല്ലാവരും പ്രഭുക്കന്മാരായിരിക്കേണം.
3And Moses by the commandment of the LORD sent them from the wilderness of Paran: all those men were heads of the children of Israel.
3അങ്ങനെ മോശെ യഹോവയുടെ കല്പനപ്രകാരം പാരാന് മരുഭൂമിയില്നിന്നു അവരെ അയച്ചു; ആ പുരുഷന്മാര് ഒക്കെയും യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളില് തലവന്മാര് ആയിരുന്നു.
4And these were their names: of the tribe of Reuben, Shammua the son of Zaccur.
4അവരുടെ പേര് ആവിതുരൂബേന് ഗോത്രത്തില് സക്ക്കുറിന്റെ മകന് ശമ്മൂവ.
5Of the tribe of Simeon, Shaphat the son of Hori.
5ശിമേയോന് ഗോത്രത്തില് ഹോരിയുടെ മകന് ശഫാത്ത്.
6Of the tribe of Judah, Caleb the son of Jephunneh.
6യെഹൂദാഗോത്രത്തില് യെഫുന്നയുടെ മകന് കാലേബ്.
7Of the tribe of Issachar, Igal the son of Joseph.
7യിസ്സാഖാര്ഗോത്രത്തില് യോസേഫിന്റെ മകന് ഈഗാല്.
8Of the tribe of Ephraim, Oshea the son of Nun.
8എഫ്രയീംഗോത്രത്തില് നൂന്റെ മകന് ഹോശേയ.
9Of the tribe of Benjamin, Palti the son of Raphu.
9ബെന്യാമീന് ഗോത്രത്തില് രാഫൂവിന്റെ മകന് പല്തി.
10Of the tribe of Zebulun, Gaddiel the son of Sodi.
10സെബൂലൂന് ഗോത്രത്തില് സോദിയുടെ മകന് ഗദ്ദീയേല്.
11Of the tribe of Joseph, namely, of the tribe of Manasseh, Gaddi the son of Susi.
11യോസേഫിന്റെ ഗോത്രമായ മനശ്ശെഗോത്രത്തില് സൂസിയുടെ മകന് ഗദ്ദി.
12Of the tribe of Dan, Ammiel the son of Gemalli.
12ദാന് ഗോത്രത്തില് ഗെമല്ലിയുടെ മകന് അമ്മീയേല്.
13Of the tribe of Asher, Sethur the son of Michael.
13ആശേര്ഗോത്രത്തില് മിഖായേലിന്റെ മകന് സെഥൂര്.
14Of the tribe of Naphtali, Nahbi the son of Vophsi.
14നഫ്താലിഗോത്രത്തില് വൊപ്സിയുടെ മകന് നഹ്ബി.
15Of the tribe of Gad, Geuel the son of Machi.
15ഗാദ് ഗോത്രത്തില് മാഖിയുടെ മകന് ഗയൂവേല്.
16These are the names of the men which Moses sent to spy out the land. And Moses called Oshea the son of Nun Jehoshua.
16ദേശം ഒറ്റു നോക്കുവാന് മോശെ അയച്ച പുരുഷന്മാരുടെ പേര് ഇവ തന്നേ. എന്നാല് മോശെ നൂന്റെ മകനായ ഹോശേയെക്കു യോശുവ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു.
17And Moses sent them to spy out the land of Canaan, and said unto them, Get you up this way southward, and go up into the mountain:
17മോശെ കനാന് ദേശം ഒറ്റു നോക്കുവാന് അവരെ അയച്ചു അവരോടുനിങ്ങള് ഈ വഴി തെക്കെ ദേശത്തു ചെന്നു മലയില് കയറി
18And see the land, what it is, and the people that dwelleth therein, whether they be strong or weak, few or many;
18ദേശം ഏതുവിധമുള്ളതു, അതില് കുടിയിരിക്കുന്ന ജനം ബലവാന്മാരോ ബലഹീനരോ, ചുരുക്കമോ അധികമോ;
19And what the land is that they dwell in, whether it be good or bad; and what cities they be that they dwell in, whether in tents, or in strong holds;
19അവര് പാര്ക്കുംന്ന ദേശം നല്ലതോ ആകാത്തതോ, അവര് വസിക്കുന്ന പട്ടണങ്ങള് പാളയങ്ങളോ കോട്ടകളോ,
20And what the land is, whether it be fat or lean, whether there be wood therein, or not. And be ye of good courage, and bring of the fruit of the land. Now the time was the time of the first ripe grapes.
20ദേശം പുഷ്ടിയുള്ളതോ പുഷ്ടിയില്ലാത്തതോ, അതില് വൃക്ഷം ഉണ്ടോ ഇല്ലയോ എന്നിങ്ങനെ നോക്കിയറിവിന് ; നിങ്ങള് ധൈര്യപ്പെട്ടു ദേശത്തിലെ ഫലങ്ങളും കൊണ്ടുവരുവിന് എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. അതു മുന്തിരിങ്ങ പഴുത്തുതുടങ്ങുന്ന കാലം ആയിരുന്നു.
21So they went up, and searched the land from the wilderness of Zin unto Rehob, as men come to Hamath.
21അങ്ങനെ അവര് കയറിപ്പോയി, സീന് മരുഭൂമിമുതല് ഹാമാത്തിന്നുപോകുന്ന വഴിയായി രഹോബ്വരെ ദേശത്തെ ശോധനചെയ്തു.
22And they ascended by the south, and came unto Hebron; where Ahiman, Sheshai, and Talmai, the children of Anak, were. (Now Hebron was built seven years before Zoan in Egypt.)
22അവര് തെക്കെ, ദേശത്തുകൂടി ചെന്നു ഹെബ്രോനില് എത്തി; അവിടെ അനാക്കിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരായ അഹീമാനും ശേശായിയും തല്മായിയും ഉണ്ടായിരുന്നു; ഹെബ്രോന് മിസ്രയീമിലെ സോവാരിന്നു ഏഴു സംവത്സരം മുമ്പെ പണിതതായിരുന്നു.
23And they came unto the brook of Eshcol, and cut down from thence a branch with one cluster of grapes, and they bare it between two upon a staff; and they brought of the pomegranates, and of the figs.
23അവര് എസ്കോല്താഴ്വരയോളം ചെന്നു അവിടെനിന്നു ഒരു മുന്തിരിവള്ളി കുലയോടെ പറിച്ചെടുത്തു ഒരു തണ്ടിന്മേല് കെട്ടി രണ്ടുപേര്ക്കുംടി ചുമന്നു; അവര് മാതളപ്പഴവും അത്തിപ്പഴവും കൂടെ കൊണ്ടുപോന്നു.
24The place was called the brook Eshcol, because of the cluster of grapes which the children of Israel cut down from thence.
24യിസ്രായേല്മക്കള് അവിടെനിന്നു മുറിച്ചെടുത്ത മുന്തിരിക്കുലനിമിത്തം ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു എസ്കോല്താഴ്വര എന്നു പേരായി.
25And they returned from searching of the land after forty days.
25അവര് നാല്പതു ദിവസംകൊണ്ടു ദേശം ഒറ്റുനോക്കിക്കഴിഞ്ഞു മടങ്ങിവന്നു.
26And they went and came to Moses, and to Aaron, and to all the congregation of the children of Israel, unto the wilderness of Paran, to Kadesh; and brought back word unto them, and unto all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land.
26അവര് യാത്രചെയ്തു പാറാന് മരുഭൂമിയിലെ കാദേശില് മോശെയുടെയും അഹരോന്റെയും യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളുടെ സര്വ്വസഭയുടെയും അടുക്കല്വന്നു അവരോടും സര്വ്വസഭയോടും വര്ത്തമാനം അറിയിച്ചു; ദേശത്തിലെ ഫലങ്ങളും അവരെ കാണിച്ചു.
27And they told him, and said, We came unto the land whither thou sentest us, and surely it floweth with milk and honey; and this is the fruit of it.
27അവര് അവനോടു വിവരിച്ചു പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്നീ ഞങ്ങളെ അയച്ച ദേശത്തേക്കു ഞങ്ങള് പോയി; അതു പാലും തേനും ഒഴുകുന്ന ദേശം തന്നേ; അതിലെ ഫലങ്ങള് ഇതാ.
28Nevertheless the people be strong that dwell in the land, and the cities are walled, and very great: and moreover we saw the children of Anak there.
28എങ്കിലും ദേശത്തു പാര്ക്കുംന്ന ജനങ്ങള് ബലവാന്മാരും പട്ടണങ്ങള് ഏറ്റവും ഉറപ്പും വലിപ്പവും ഉള്ളവയും ആകുന്നു. ഞങ്ങള് അനാക്കിന്റെ പുത്രന്മാരെയും അവിടെ കണ്ടു.
29The Amalekites dwell in the land of the south: and the Hittites, and the Jebusites, and the Amorites, dwell in the mountains: and the Canaanites dwell by the sea, and by the coast of Jordan.
29അമാലേക്യര് തെക്കെ ദേശത്തു പാര്ക്കുംന്നു; ഹിത്യരും യെബൂസ്യരും അമോര്യ്യരും പര്വ്വതങ്ങളില് പാര്ക്കുംന്നു; കനാന്യര് കടല്ക്കരയിലും യോര്ദ്ദാന് നദീതീരത്തും പാര്ക്കുംന്നു.
30And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it.
30എന്നാല് കാലേബ് മോശെയുടെ മുമ്പാകെ ജനത്തെ അമര്ത്തിനാം ചെന്നു അതു കൈവശമാക്കുക; അതു ജയിപ്പാന് നമുക്കു കഴിയും എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
31But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.
31എങ്കിലും അവനോടുകൂടെ പോയിരുന്ന പുരുഷന്മാര്ആ ജനത്തിന്റെ നേരെ ചെല്ലുവാന് നമുക്കു കഴികയില്ല; അവര് നമ്മിലും ബലവാന്മാര് ആകുന്നു എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
32And they brought up an evil report of the land which they had searched unto the children of Israel, saying, The land, through which we have gone to search it, is a land that eateth up the inhabitants thereof; and all the people that we saw in it are men of a great stature.
32തങ്ങള് ഒറ്റു നോക്കിയ ദേശത്തെക്കുറിച്ചു അവര് യിസ്രായേല്മക്കളോടു ദുര്വ്വര്ത്തമാനമായി പറഞ്ഞതെന്തെന്നാല്ഞങ്ങള് സഞ്ചരിച്ചു ഒറ്റുനോക്കിയ ദേശം നിവാസികളെ തിന്നുകളയുന്ന ദേശം ആകുന്നു; ഞങ്ങള് അവിടെ കണ്ട ജനം ഒക്കെയും അതികായന്മാര്;
33And there we saw the giants, the sons of Anak, which come of the giants: and we were in our own sight as grasshoppers, and so we were in their sight.
33അവിടെ ഞങ്ങള് മല്ലന്മാരുടെ സന്തികളായ അനാക്യമല്ലന്മാരെയും കണ്ടു; ഞങ്ങള്ക്കു തന്നേ ഞങ്ങള് വെട്ടുക്കിളികളെപ്പോലെ തോന്നി; അവരുടെ കാഴ്ചെക്കും ഞങ്ങള് അങ്ങനെ തന്നേ ആയിരുന്നു.
