1As snow in summer, and as rain in harvest, so honour is not seemly for a fool.
1വേനല്കാലത്തു ഹിമവും കൊയ്ത്തുകാലത്തു മഴയും എന്നപോലെ ഭോഷന്നു ബഹുമാനം പൊരുത്തമല്ല.
2As the bird by wandering, as the swallow by flying, so the curse causeless shall not come.
2കുരികില് പാറിപ്പോകുന്നതും മീവല്പക്ഷിപറന്നുപോകുന്നതും പോലെ കാരണം കൂടാതെ ശാപം പറ്റുകയില്ല.
3A whip for the horse, a bridle for the ass, and a rod for the fool's back.
3കുതിരെക്കു ചമ്മട്ടി, കഴുതെക്കു കടിഞ്ഞാണ്, മൂഢന്മാരുടെ മുതുകിന്നു വടി.
4Answer not a fool according to his folly, lest thou also be like unto him.
4നീയും മൂഢനെപ്പോലെ ആകാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്റെ ഭോഷത്വംപോലെ അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറയരുതു.
5Answer a fool according to his folly, lest he be wise in his own conceit.
5മൂഢന്നു താന് ജ്ഞാനിയെന്നു തോന്നാതിരിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്റെ ഭോഷത്വത്തിന്നു ഒത്തവണ്ണം അവനോടു ഉത്തരം പറക.
6He that sendeth a message by the hand of a fool cutteth off the feet, and drinketh damage.
6മൂഢന്റെ കൈവശം വര്ത്തമാനം അയക്കുന്നവന് സ്വന്തകാല് മുറിച്ചുകളകയും അന്യായം കുടിക്കയും ചെയ്യുന്നു.
7The legs of the lame are not equal: so is a parable in the mouth of fools.
7മൂഢന്മാരുടെ വായിലെ സദൃശവാക്യം മുടന്തന്റെ കാല് ഞാന്നു കിടക്കുന്നതുപോലെ.
8As he that bindeth a stone in a sling, so is he that giveth honour to a fool.
8മൂഢന്നു ബഹുമാനം കൊടുക്കുന്നതു കവിണയില് കല്ലു കെട്ടി മുറുക്കുന്നതുപോലെ.
9As a thorn goeth up into the hand of a drunkard, so is a parable in the mouths of fools.
9മൂഢന്മാരുടെ വായിലെ സദൃശവാക്യം മത്തന്റെ കയ്യിലെ മുള്ളുപോലെ.
10The great God that formed all things both rewardeth the fool, and rewardeth transgressors.
10എല്ലാവരെയും മുറിവേല്പിക്കുന്ന വില്ലാളിയും മൂഢനെ കൂലിക്കു നിര്ത്തുന്നവനും കണ്ടവരെ കൂലിക്കു നിര്ത്തുന്നവനും ഒരുപോലെ.
11As a dog returneth to his vomit, so a fool returneth to his folly.
11നായി ഛര്ദ്ദിച്ചതിലേക്കു വീണ്ടും തിരിയുന്നതും മൂഢന് തന്റെ ഭോഷത്വം ആവര്ത്തിക്കുന്നതും ഒരുപോലെ.
12Seest thou a man wise in his own conceit? there is more hope of a fool than of him.
12തനിക്കുതന്നേ ജ്ഞാനിയെന്നു തോന്നുന്ന മനുഷ്യനെ നീ കാണുന്നുവോ? അവനെക്കുറിച്ചുള്ളതിനെക്കാളും മൂഢനെക്കുറിച്ചു അധികം പ്രത്യാശയുണ്ടു.
13The slothful man saith, There is a lion in the way; a lion is in the streets.
13വഴിയില് കേസരി ഉണ്ടു, തെരുക്കളില് സിംഹം ഉണ്ടു എന്നിങ്ങനെ മടിയന് പറയുന്നു.
14As the door turneth upon his hinges, so doth the slothful upon his bed.
14കതകു ചുഴിക്കുറ്റിയില് എന്നപോലെ മടിയന് തന്റെ കിടക്കയില് തിരിയുന്നു.
15The slothful hideth his hand in his bosom; it grieveth him to bring it again to his mouth.
15മടിയന് തന്റെ കൈ തളികയില് പൂത്തുന്നു; വായിലേക്കു തിരികെ കൊണ്ടുവരുന്നതു അവന്നു പ്രയാസം.
16The sluggard is wiser in his own conceit than seven men that can render a reason.
16ബുദ്ധിയോടെ പ്രതിവാദിപ്പാന് പ്രാപ്തിയുള്ള ഏഴു പേരിലും താന് ജ്ഞാനി എന്നു മടിയന്നു തോന്നുന്നു.
17He that passeth by, and meddleth with strife belonging not to him, is like one that taketh a dog by the ears.
17തന്നെ സംബന്ധിക്കാത്ത വഴക്കില് ഇടപെടുന്നവന് വഴിയെപോകുന്ന നായുടെ ചെവിക്കു പിടിക്കുന്നവനെപ്പോലെ.
18As a mad man who casteth firebrands, arrows, and death,
18കൂട്ടുകാരനെ വഞ്ചിച്ചിട്ടു അതു കളി എന്നു പറയുന്ന മനുഷ്യന്
19So is the man that deceiveth his neighbour, and saith, Am not I in sport?
19തീക്കൊള്ളികളും അമ്പുകളും മരണവും എറിയുന്ന ഭ്രാന്തനെപ്പോലെയാകുന്നു.
20Where no wood is, there the fire goeth out: so where there is no talebearer, the strife ceaseth.
20വിറകു ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞാല് തീ കെട്ടു പോകും; നുണയന് ഇല്ലാഞ്ഞാല് വഴക്കും ഇല്ലാതെയാകും.
21As coals are to burning coals, and wood to fire; so is a contentious man to kindle strife.
21കരി കനലിന്നും വിറകു തീക്കും എന്നപോലെ വഴക്കുകാരന് കലഹം ജ്വലിക്കുന്നതിന്നു കാരണം.
22The words of a talebearer are as wounds, and they go down into the innermost parts of the belly.
22ഏഷണിക്കാരന്റെ വാക്കു സ്വാദുഭോജനംപോലെ; അതു വയറ്റിന്റെ അറകളിലേക്കു ചെല്ലുന്നു.
23Burning lips and a wicked heart are like a potsherd covered with silver dross.
23സ്നേഹം ജ്വലിക്കുന്ന അധരവും ദുഷ്ടഹൃദയവും വെള്ളിക്കീടം പൊതിഞ്ഞ മണ്കുടംപോലെയാകുന്നു.
24He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him;
24പകെക്കുന്നവന് അധരംകൊണ്ടു വേഷം ധരിക്കുന്നു; ഉള്ളിലോ അവന് ചതിവു സംഗ്രഹിച്ചു വെക്കുന്നു.
25When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart.
25അവന് ഇമ്പമായി സംസാരിക്കുമ്പോള് അവനെ വിശ്വസിക്കരുതു; അവന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തില് ഏഴു വെറുപ്പു ഉണ്ടു.
26Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shewed before the whole congregation.
26അവന്റെ പക കപടംകൊണ്ടു മറെച്ചു വെച്ചാലും അവന്റെ ദുഷ്ടത സഭയുടെ മുമ്പില് വെളിപ്പെട്ടുവരും.
27Whoso diggeth a pit shall fall therein: and he that rolleth a stone, it will return upon him.
27കുഴി കുഴിക്കുന്നവന് അതില് വീഴും; കല്ലു ഉരുട്ടുന്നവന്റെമേല് അതു തിരിഞ്ഞുരുളും.
28A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.
28ഭോഷകു പറയുന്ന നാവു അതിനാല് തകര്ന്നവരെ ദ്വേഷിക്കുന്നു; മുഖസ്തുതി പറയുന്ന വായി നാശം വരുത്തുന്നു.
