1Hear, ye children, the instruction of a father, and attend to know understanding.
1മക്കളേ, അപ്പന്റെ പ്രബോധനം കേട്ടു വിവേകം പ്രാപിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിന്‍ .
2For I give you good doctrine, forsake ye not my law.
2ഞാന്‍ നിങ്ങള്‍ക്കു സല്‍ബുദ്ധി ഉപദേശിച്ചുതരുന്നു; എന്റെ ഉപദേശം നിങ്ങള്‍ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു.
3For I was my father's son, tender and only beloved in the sight of my mother.
3ഞാന്‍ എന്റെ അപ്പന്നു മകനും എന്റെ അമ്മെക്കു ഔമനയും ഏകപുത്രനും ആയിരുന്നു;
4He taught me also, and said unto me, Let thine heart retain my words: keep my commandments, and live.
4അവന്‍ എന്നെ പഠിപ്പിച്ചു, എന്നോടു പറഞ്ഞതുഎന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ ഹൃദയത്തില്‍ സംഗ്രഹിച്ചുകൊള്‍ക; എന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചു ജീവിക്ക.
5Get wisdom, get understanding: forget it not; neither decline from the words of my mouth.
5ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്കവിവേകം നേടുക; മറക്കരുതു; എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ വിട്ടുമാറുകയുമരുതു.
6Forsake her not, and she shall preserve thee: love her, and she shall keep thee.
6അതിനെ ഉപേക്ഷിക്കരുതു; അതു നിന്നെ കാക്കും; അതില്‍ പ്രിയം വെക്കുക; അതു നിന്നെ സൂക്ഷിക്കും;
7Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore get wisdom: and with all thy getting get understanding.
7ജ്ഞാനംതന്നേ പ്രധാനം; ജ്ഞാനം സമ്പാദിക്ക; നിന്റെ സകലസമ്പാദ്യത്താലും വിവേകം നേടുക.
8Exalt her, and she shall promote thee: she shall bring thee to honour, when thou dost embrace her.
8അതിനെ ഉയര്‍ത്തുക; അതു നിന്നെ ഉയര്‍ത്തും; അതിനെ ആലിംഗനം ചെയ്താല്‍ അതു നിനക്കു മാനം വരുത്തും.
9She shall give to thine head an ornament of grace: a crown of glory shall she deliver to thee.
9അതു നിന്റെ തലയെ അലങ്കാരമാല അണിയിക്കും; അതു നിന്നെ ഒരു മഹത്വകിരീടം ചൂടിക്കും.
10Hear, O my son, and receive my sayings; and the years of thy life shall be many.
10മകനേ കേട്ടു എന്റെ വചനങ്ങളെ കൈക്കൊള്‍ക; എന്നാല്‍ നിനക്കു ദീര്‍ഘായുസ്സുണ്ടാകും.
11I have taught thee in the way of wisdom; I have led thee in right paths.
11ജ്ഞാനത്തിന്റെ മാര്‍ഗ്ഗം ഞാന്‍ നിന്നെ ഉപദേശിക്കുന്നുനേരെയുള്ള പാതയില്‍ ഞാന്‍ നിന്നെ നടത്തുന്നു.
12When thou goest, thy steps shall not be straitened; and when thou runnest, thou shalt not stumble.
12നടക്കുമ്പോള്‍ നിന്റെ കാലടിക്കു ഇടുക്കം വരികയില്ല; ഔടുമ്പോള്‍ നീ ഇടറുകയുമില്ല.
13Take fast hold of instruction; let her not go: keep her; for she is thy life.
13പ്രബോധനം മുറുകെ പിടിക്ക; വിട്ടുകളയരുതു; അതിനെ കാത്തുകൊള്‍ക, അതു നിന്റെ ജീവനല്ലോ.
14Enter not into the path of the wicked, and go not in the way of evil men.
14ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെ പാതയില്‍ നീ ചെല്ലരുതു; ദുര്‍ജ്ജനത്തിന്റെ വഴിയില്‍ നടക്കയുമരുതു;
15Avoid it, pass not by it, turn from it, and pass away.
15അതിനോടു അകന്നുനില്‍ക്ക; അതില്‍ നടക്കരുതു; അതു വിട്ടുമാറി കടന്നുപോക.
16For they sleep not, except they have done mischief; and their sleep is taken away, unless they cause some to fall.
16അവര്‍ ദോഷം ചെയ്തിട്ടല്ലാതെ ഉറങ്ങുകയില്ല; വല്ലവരെയും വീഴിച്ചിട്ടല്ലാതെ അവര്‍ക്കും ഉറക്കം വരികയില്ല.
17For they eat the bread of wickedness, and drink the wine of violence.
17ദുഷ്ടതയുടെ ആഹാരംകൊണ്ടു അവര്‍ ഉപജീവിക്കുന്നു; ബലാല്‍ക്കാരത്തിന്റെ വീഞ്ഞു അവന്‍ പാനം ചെയ്യുന്നു.
18But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.
18നീതിമാന്മാരുടെ പാതയോ പ്രഭാതത്തിന്റെ വെളിച്ചംപോലെ; അതു നട്ടുച്ചവരെ അധികമധികം ശോഭിച്ചു വരുന്നു.
19The way of the wicked is as darkness: they know not at what they stumble.
19ദുഷ്ടന്മാരുടെവഴി അന്ധകാരംപോലെയാകുന്നു; ഏതിങ്കല്‍ തട്ടി വീഴും എന്നു അവര്‍ അറിയുന്നില്ല.
20My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.
20മകനേ, എന്റെ വചനങ്ങള്‍ക്കു ശ്രദ്ധതരിക; എന്റെ മൊഴികള്‍ക്കു നിന്റെ ചെവി ചായിക്ക.
21Let them not depart from thine eyes; keep them in the midst of thine heart.
21അവ നിന്റെ ദൃഷ്ടിയില്‍നിന്നു മാറിപ്പോകരുതു; നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തിന്റെ നടുവില്‍ അവയെ സൂക്ഷിച്ചുവെക്കുക.
22For they are life unto those that find them, and health to all their flesh.
22അവയെ കിട്ടുന്നവര്‍ക്കും അവ ജീവനും അവരുടെ സര്‍വ്വദേഹത്തിന്നും സൌഖ്യവും ആകുന്നു.
23Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
23സകലജാഗ്രതയോടുംകൂടെ നിന്റെ ഹൃദയത്തെ കാത്തുകൊള്‍ക; ജീവന്റെ ഉത്ഭവം അതില്‍നിന്നല്ലോ ആകുന്നതു.
24Put away from thee a froward mouth, and perverse lips put far from thee.
24വായുടെ വക്രത നിങ്കല്‍നിന്നു നീക്കിക്കളക; അധരങ്ങളുടെ വികടം നിങ്കല്‍നിന്നകറ്റുക.
25Let thine eyes look right on, and let thine eyelids look straight before thee.
25നിന്റെ കണ്ണു നേരെ നോക്കട്ടെ; നിന്റെ കണ്ണിമ ചൊവ്വെ മുമ്പോട്ടു മിഴിക്കട്ടെ.
26Ponder the path of thy feet, and let all thy ways be established.
26നിന്റെ കാലുകളുടെ പാതയെ നിരപ്പാക്കുക; നിന്റെ വഴികളെല്ലാം സ്ഥിരമായിരിക്കട്ടെ.
27Turn not to the right hand nor to the left: remove thy foot from evil.
27ഇടത്തോട്ടോ വലത്തോട്ടോ തിരിയരുതു; നിന്റെ കാലിനെ ദോഷം വിട്ടകലുമാറാക്കുക.
