1Give ear, O my people, to my law: incline your ears to the words of my mouth.
1എന്റെ ജനമേ, എന്റെ ഉപദേശം ശ്രദ്ധിപ്പിന്‍ ; എന്റെ വായ്മൊഴികള്‍ക്കു നിങ്ങളുടെ ചെവി ചായിപ്പിന്‍ .
2I will open my mouth in a parable: I will utter dark sayings of old:
2ഞാന്‍ ഉപമ പ്രസ്താവിപ്പാന്‍ വായ് തുറക്കും; പുരാതനകടങ്കഥകളെ ഞാന്‍ പറയും.
3Which we have heard and known, and our fathers have told us.
3നാം അവയെ കേട്ടറിഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു; നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്‍ നമ്മോടു പറഞ്ഞിരിക്കുന്നു.
4We will not hide them from their children, shewing to the generation to come the praises of the LORD, and his strength, and his wonderful works that he hath done.
4നാം അവരുടെ മക്കളോടു അവയെ മറെച്ചുവെക്കാതെ വരുവാനുള്ള തലമുറയോടു യഹോവയുടെ സ്തുതിയും ബലവും അവന്‍ ചെയ്ത അത്ഭുതപ്രവൃത്തികളും വിവരിച്ചുപറയും.
5For he established a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, that they should make them known to their children:
5അവന്‍ യാക്കോബില്‍ ഒരു സാക്ഷ്യം സ്ഥാപിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലില്‍ ഒരു ന്യായപ്രമാണം നിയമിച്ചു; നമ്മുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരോടു അവയെ തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളെ അറിയിപ്പാന്‍ കല്പിച്ചു.
6That the generation to come might know them, even the children which should be born; who should arise and declare them to their children:
6വരുവാനുള്ള തലമുറ, ജനിപ്പാനിരിക്കുന്ന മക്കള്‍ തന്നേ, അവയെ ഗ്രഹിച്ചു എഴുന്നേറ്റു തങ്ങളുടെ മക്കളോടറിയിക്കയും
7That they might set their hope in God, and not forget the works of God, but keep his commandments:
7അവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ ആശ്രയം ദൈവത്തില്‍ വെക്കുകയും ദൈവത്തിന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെ മറന്നുകളയാതെ അവന്റെ കല്പനകളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചുനടക്കയും
8And might not be as their fathers, a stubborn and rebellious generation; a generation that set not their heart aright, and whose spirit was not stedfast with God.
8തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപോലെ ശാഠ്യവും മത്സരവും ഉള്ള തലമുറയായി ഹൃദയത്തെ സ്ഥിരമാക്കാതെ ദൈവത്തോടു അവിശ്വസ്തമനസ്സുള്ളോരു തലമുറയായി തീരാതിരിക്കയും ചെയ്യേണ്ടതിന്നു തന്നേ.
9The children of Ephraim, being armed, and carrying bows, turned back in the day of battle.
9ആയുധം ധരിച്ച വില്ലാളികളായ എഫ്രയീമ്യര്‍ യുദ്ധദിവസത്തില്‍ പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞുപോയി.
10They kept not the covenant of God, and refused to walk in his law;
10അവര്‍ ദൈവത്തിന്റെ നിയമം പ്രമാണിച്ചില്ല. അവന്റെ ന്യായപ്രമാണത്തെ ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു നടന്നു.
11And forgat his works, and his wonders that he had shewed them.
11അവര്‍ അവന്റെ പ്രവൃത്തികളെയും അവരെ കാണിച്ച അത്ഭുതങ്ങളെയും മറന്നു കളഞ്ഞു.
12Marvellous things did he in the sight of their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the field of Zoan.
12അവന്‍ മിസ്രയീംദേശത്തു, സോവാന്‍ വയലില്‍വെച്ചു അവരുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാര്‍ കാണ്‍കെ, അത്ഭുതം പ്രവര്‍ത്തിച്ചു.
13He divided the sea, and caused them to pass through; and he made the waters to stand as an heap.
13അവന്‍ സമുദ്രത്തെ വിഭാഗിച്ചു, അതില്‍കൂടി അവരെ കടത്തി; അവന്‍ വെള്ളത്തെ ചിറപോലെ നിലക്കുമാറാക്കി.
14In the daytime also he led them with a cloud, and all the night with a light of fire.
14പകല്‍സമയത്തു അവന്‍ മേഘംകൊണ്ടും രാത്രി മുഴുവനും അഗ്നിപ്രകാശംകൊണ്ടും അവരെ നടത്തി.
15He clave the rocks in the wilderness, and gave them drink as out of the great depths.
15അവന്‍ മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ പാറകളെ പിളര്‍ന്നു ആഴികളാല്‍ എന്നപോലെ അവര്‍ക്കും ധാരാളം കുടിപ്പാന്‍ കൊടുത്തു.
16He brought streams also out of the rock, and caused waters to run down like rivers.
16പാറയില്‍നിന്നു അവന്‍ ഒഴുക്കുകളെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; വെള്ളം നദികളെപ്പോലെ ഒഴുകുമാറാക്കി.
17And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the most High in the wilderness.
17എങ്കിലും അവര്‍ അവനോടു പാപം ചെയ്തു; അത്യുന്നതനോടു മരുഭൂമിയില്‍വെച്ചു മത്സരിച്ചുകൊണ്ടിരുന്നു.
18And they tempted God in their heart by asking meat for their lust.
18തങ്ങളുടെ കൊതിക്കു ഭക്ഷണം ചോദിച്ചു കൊണ്ടു അവര്‍ ഹൃദയത്തില്‍ ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു.
19Yea, they spake against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness?
19അവര്‍ ദൈവത്തിന്നു വിരോധമായി സംസാരിച്ചുമരുഭൂമിയില്‍ മേശ ഒരുക്കുവാന്‍ ദൈവത്തിന്നു കഴിയുമോ?
20Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?
20അവന്‍ പാറയെ അടിച്ചു, വെള്ളം പുറപ്പെട്ടു, തോടുകളും കവിഞ്ഞൊഴുകി സത്യം; എന്നാല്‍ അപ്പംകൂടെ തരുവാന്‍ അവന്നു കഴിയുമോ? തന്റെ ജനത്തിന്നു അവന്‍ മാംസം വരുത്തി കൊടുക്കുമോ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.
21Therefore the LORD heard this, and was wroth: so a fire was kindled against Jacob, and anger also came up against Israel;
21ആകയാല്‍ യഹോവ അതു കേട്ടു കോപിച്ചു; യാക്കോബിന്റെ നേരെ തീ ജ്വലിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ നേരെ കോപവും പൊങ്ങി.
22Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation:
22അവര്‍ ദൈവത്തില്‍ വിശ്വസിക്കയും അവന്റെ രക്ഷയില്‍ ആശ്രയിക്കയും ചെയ്യായ്കയാല്‍ തന്നേ.
23Though he had commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,
23അവന്‍ മീതെ മേഘങ്ങളോടു കല്പിച്ചു; ആകാശത്തിന്റെ വാതിലുകളെ തുറന്നു.
24And had rained down manna upon them to eat, and had given them of the corn of heaven.
24അവര്‍ക്കും തിന്മാന്‍ മന്ന വര്‍ഷിപ്പിച്ചു; സ്വര്‍ഗ്ഗീയധാന്യം അവര്‍ക്കും കൊടുത്തു.
25Man did eat angels' food: he sent them meat to the full.
25മനുഷ്യര്‍ ശക്തിമാന്മാരുടെ അപ്പം തിന്നു; അവന്‍ അവര്‍ക്കും തൃപ്തിയാകുംവണ്ണം ആഹാരം അയച്ചു.
26He caused an east wind to blow in the heaven: and by his power he brought in the south wind.
26അവന്‍ ആകാശത്തില്‍ കിഴക്കന്‍ കാറ്റു അടിപ്പിച്ചു; തന്റെ ശക്തിയാല്‍ കിഴക്കന്‍ കാറ്റു വരുത്തി.
27He rained flesh also upon them as dust, and feathered fowls like as the sand of the sea:
27അവന്‍ അവര്‍ക്കും പൊടിപോലെ മാംസത്തെയും കടല്‍പുറത്തെ മണല്‍പോലെ പക്ഷികളെയും വര്‍ഷിപ്പിച്ചു;
28And he let it fall in the midst of their camp, round about their habitations.
28അവരുടെ പാളയത്തിന്റെ നടുവിലും പാര്‍പ്പിടങ്ങളുടെ ചുറ്റിലും അവയെ പൊഴിച്ചു.
29So they did eat, and were well filled: for he gave them their own desire;
29അങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ തിന്നു തൃപ്തരായ്തീര്‍ന്നു; അവര്‍ ആഗ്രഹിച്ചതു അവന്‍ അവര്‍ക്കും കൊടുത്തു.
30They were not estranged from their lust. But while their meat was yet in their mouths,
30അവരുടെ കൊതിക്കു മതിവന്നില്ല; ഭക്ഷണം അവരുടെ വായില്‍ ഇരിക്കുമ്പോള്‍ തന്നേ,
31The wrath of God came upon them, and slew the fattest of them, and smote down the chosen men of Israel.
31ദൈവത്തിന്റെ കോപം അവരുടെമേല്‍ വന്നു; അവരുടെ അതിപുഷ്ടന്മാരില്‍ ചിലരെ കൊന്നു യിസ്രായേലിലെ യൌവനക്കാരെ സംഹരിച്ചു.
32For all this they sinned still, and believed not for his wondrous works.
32ഇതെല്ലാമായിട്ടും അവര്‍ പിന്നെയും പാപം ചെയ്തു; അവന്റെ അത്ഭുതപ്രവൃത്തികളെ വിശ്വസിച്ചതുമില്ല.
33Therefore their days did he consume in vanity, and their years in trouble.
33അതുകൊണ്ടു അവന്‍ അവരുടെ നാളുകളെ ശ്വാസംപോലെയും അവരുടെ സംവത്സരങ്ങളെ അതിവേഗത്തിലും കഴിയുമാറാക്കി.
34When he slew them, then they sought him: and they returned and enquired early after God.
34അവന്‍ അവരെ കൊല്ലുമ്പോള്‍ അവര്‍ അവനെ അന്വേഷിക്കും; അവര്‍ തിരിഞ്ഞു ജാഗ്രതയോടെ ദൈവത്തെ തിരയും.
35And they remembered that God was their rock, and the high God their redeemer.
35ദൈവം തങ്ങളുടെ പാറ എന്നും അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവം തങ്ങളുടെ വീണ്ടെടുപ്പുകാരന്‍ എന്നും അവര്‍ ഔര്‍ക്കും.
36Nevertheless they did flatter him with their mouth, and they lied unto him with their tongues.
36എങ്കിലും അവര്‍ വായ്കൊണ്ടു അവനോടു കപടം സംസാരിക്കും നാവുകൊണ്ടു അവനോടു ഭോഷകു പറയും.
37For their heart was not right with him, neither were they stedfast in his covenant.
37അവരുടെ ഹൃദയം അവങ്കല്‍ സ്ഥിരമായിരുന്നില്ല, അവന്റെ നിയമത്തോടു അവര്‍ വിശ്വസ്തത കാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.
38But he, being full of compassion, forgave their iniquity, and destroyed them not: yea, many a time turned he his anger away, and did not stir up all his wrath.
38എങ്കിലും അവന്‍ കരുണയുള്ളവനാകകൊണ്ടു അവരെ നശിപ്പിക്കാതെ അവരുടെ അകൃത്യം ക്ഷമിച്ചു; തന്റെ ക്രോധത്തെ മുഴുവനും ജ്വലിപ്പിക്കാതെ തന്റെ കോപത്തെ പലപ്പോഴും അടക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
39For he remembered that they were but flesh; a wind that passeth away, and cometh not again.
39അവര്‍ ജഡമത്രേ എന്നും മടങ്ങിവരാതെ കടന്നുപോകുന്ന കാറ്റു എന്നും അവന്‍ ഔര്‍ത്തു.
40How oft did they provoke him in the wilderness, and grieve him in the desert!
40മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ അവര്‍ എത്ര പ്രാവശ്യം അവനോടു മത്സരിച്ചു! ശൂന്യപ്രദേശത്തു എത്രപ്രാവശ്യം അവനെ ദുഃഖിപ്പിച്ചു!
41Yea, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.
41അവര്‍ പിന്നെയും പിന്നെയും ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ പരിശുദ്ധനെ മുഷിപ്പിച്ചു.
42They remembered not his hand, nor the day when he delivered them from the enemy.
42മിസ്രയീമില്‍ അടയാളങ്ങളെയും സോവാന്‍ വയലില്‍ അത്ഭുതങ്ങളെയും ചെയ്ത അവന്റെ കയ്യും
43How he had wrought his signs in Egypt, and his wonders in the field of Zoan.
43അവന്‍ ശത്രുവിന്‍ വശത്തുനിന്നു അവരെ വിടുവിച്ച ദിവസവും അവര്‍ ഔര്‍ത്തില്ല.
44And had turned their rivers into blood; and their floods, that they could not drink.
44അവന്‍ അവരുടെ നദികളെയും തോടുകളെയും അവര്‍ക്കും കുടിപ്പാന്‍ വഹിയാതവണ്ണം രക്തമാക്കി തീര്‍ത്തു.
45He sent divers sorts of flies among them, which devoured them; and frogs, which destroyed them.
45അവന്‍ അവരുടെ ഇടയില്‍ ഈച്ചയെ അയച്ചു; അവ അവരെ അരിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞുതവളയെയും അയച്ചു അവ അവര്‍ക്കും നാശം ചെയ്തു.
46He gave also their increase unto the caterpiller, and their labour unto the locust.
46അവരുടെ വിള അവന്‍ തുള്ളന്നും അവരുടെ പ്രയത്നം വെട്ടുക്കിളിക്കും കൊടുത്തു.
47He destroyed their vines with hail, and their sycomore trees with frost.
47അവന്‍ അവരുടെ മുന്തിരിവള്ളികളെ കല്‍മഴകൊണ്ടും അവരുടെ കാട്ടത്തിവൃക്ഷങ്ങളെ ആലിപ്പഴം കൊണ്ടും നശിപ്പിച്ചു.
48He gave up their cattle also to the hail, and their flocks to hot thunderbolts.
48അവന്‍ അവരുടെ കന്നുകാലികളെ കല്‍മഴെക്കും അവരുടെ ആട്ടിന്‍ കൂട്ടങ്ങളെ ഇടിത്തീക്കും ഏല്പിച്ചു.
49He cast upon them the fierceness of his anger, wrath, and indignation, and trouble, by sending evil angels among them.
49അവന്‍ അവരുടെ ഇടയില്‍ തന്റെ കോപാഗ്നിയും ക്രോധവും രോഷവും കഷ്ടവും അയച്ചു; അനര്‍ത്ഥദൂതന്മാരുടെ ഒരു ഗണത്തെ തന്നേ.
50He made a way to his anger; he spared not their soul from death, but gave their life over to the pestilence;
50അവന്‍ തന്റെ കോപത്തിന്നു ഒരു പാത ഒരുക്കി, അവരുടെ പ്രാണനെ മരണത്തില്‍നിന്നു വിടുവിക്കാതെ അവരുടെ ജീവനെ മഹാമാരിക്കു ഏല്പിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു.
51And smote all the firstborn in Egypt; the chief of their strength in the tabernacles of Ham:
51അവന്‍ മിസ്രയീമിലെ എല്ലാ കടിഞ്ഞൂലിനെയും ഹാംകൂടാരങ്ങളിലുള്ളവരുടെ വീര്യത്തിന്റെ പ്രഥമഫലത്തെയും സംഹരിച്ചു.
52But made his own people to go forth like sheep, and guided them in the wilderness like a flock.
52എന്നാല്‍ തന്റെ ജനത്തെ അവന്‍ ആടുകളെപ്പോലെ പുറപ്പെടുവിച്ചു; മരുഭൂമിയില്‍ ആട്ടിന്‍ കൂട്ടത്തെപ്പോലെ അവരെ നടത്തി.
53And he led them on safely, so that they feared not: but the sea overwhelmed their enemies.
53അവന്‍ അവരെ നിര്‍ഭയമായി നടത്തുകയാല്‍ അവര്‍ക്കും പേടിയുണ്ടായില്ല; അവരുടെ ശത്രുക്കളെ സമുദ്രം മൂടിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
54And he brought them to the border of his sanctuary, even to this mountain, which his right hand had purchased.
54അവന്‍ അവരെ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധദേശത്തിലേക്കും തന്റെ വലങ്കൈ സമ്പാദിച്ച ഈ പര്‍വ്വതത്തിലേക്കും കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
55He cast out the heathen also before them, and divided them an inheritance by line, and made the tribes of Israel to dwell in their tents.
55അവരുടെ മുമ്പില്‍നിന്നു അവന്‍ ജാതികളെ നീക്കിക്കളഞ്ഞു; ചരടുകൊണ്ടു അളന്നു അവര്‍ക്കും അവകാശം പകുത്തുകൊടുത്തു; യിസ്രായേലിന്റെ ഗോത്രങ്ങളെ അവരവരുടെ കൂടാരങ്ങളില്‍ പാര്‍പ്പിച്ചു.
56Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:
56എങ്കിലും അവര്‍ അത്യുന്നതനായ ദൈവത്തെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചു മത്സരിച്ചു; അവന്റെ സാക്ഷ്യങ്ങളെ പ്രമാണിച്ചതുമില്ല.
57But turned back, and dealt unfaithfully like their fathers: they were turned aside like a deceitful bow.
57അവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ പിതാക്കന്മാരെപ്പോലെ പിന്തിരിഞ്ഞു ദ്രോഹം ചെയ്തു; വഞ്ചനയുള്ള വില്ലുപോലെ അവര്‍ മാറിക്കളഞ്ഞു.
58For they provoked him to anger with their high places, and moved him to jealousy with their graven images.
58അവര്‍ തങ്ങളുടെ പൂജാഗിരികളെക്കൊണ്ടു അവനെ കോപിപ്പിച്ചു; വിഗ്രഹങ്ങളെക്കൊണ്ടു അവന്നു തീക്ഷണതജനിപ്പിച്ചു.
59When God heard this, he was wroth, and greatly abhorred Israel:
59ദൈവം കേട്ടു ക്രുദ്ധിച്ചു; യിസ്രായേലിനെ ഏറ്റവും വെറുത്തു.
60So that he forsook the tabernacle of Shiloh, the tent which he placed among men;
60ആകയാല്‍ അവന്‍ ശീലോവിലെ തിരുനിവാസവും താന്‍ മനുഷ്യരുടെ ഇടയില്‍ അടിച്ചിരുന്ന കൂടാരവും ഉപേക്ഷിച്ചു.
61And delivered his strength into captivity, and his glory into the enemy's hand.
61തന്റെ ബലത്തെ പ്രവാസത്തിലും തന്റെ മഹത്വത്തെ ശത്രുവിന്റെ കയ്യിലും ഏല്പിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
62He gave his people over also unto the sword; and was wroth with his inheritance.
62അവന്‍ തന്റെ അവകാശത്തോടു കോപിച്ചു; തന്റെ ജനത്തെ വാളിന്നു വിട്ടുകൊടുത്തു.
63The fire consumed their young men; and their maidens were not given to marriage.
63അവരുടെ യൌവനക്കാര്‍ തീക്കു ഇരയായിതീര്‍ന്നു; അവരുടെ കന്യകമാര്‍ക്കും വിവാഹഗീതം ഉണ്ടായതുമില്ല.
64Their priests fell by the sword; and their widows made no lamentation.
64അവരുടെ പുരോഹിതന്മാര്‍ വാള്‍കൊണ്ടു വീണു; അവരുടെ വിധവമാര്‍ വിലാപം കഴിച്ചതുമില്ല.
65Then the LORD awaked as one out of sleep, and like a mighty man that shouteth by reason of wine.
65അപ്പോള്‍ കര്‍ത്താവു ഉറക്കുണര്‍ന്നുവരുന്നവനെപ്പോലെയും വീഞ്ഞുകുടിച്ചു അട്ടഹസിക്കുന്ന വീരനെപ്പോലെയും ഉണര്‍ന്നു.
66And he smote his enemies in the hinder parts: he put them to a perpetual reproach.
66അവന്‍ തന്റെ ശത്രുക്കളെ പുറകോട്ടു അടിച്ചുകളഞ്ഞു; അവര്‍ക്കും നിത്യനിന്ദവരുത്തുകയും ചെയ്തു.
67Moreover he refused the tabernacle of Joseph, and chose not the tribe of Ephraim:
67എന്നാല്‍ അവന്‍ യോസേഫിന്റെ കൂടാരത്തെ ത്യജിച്ചു; എഫ്രയീംഗോത്രത്തെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തതുമില്ല.
68But chose the tribe of Judah, the mount Zion which he loved.
68അവന്‍ യെഹൂദാഗോത്രത്തെയും താന്‍ പ്രിയപ്പെട്ട സീയോന്‍ പര്‍വ്വതത്തെയും തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു.
69And he built his sanctuary like high palaces, like the earth which he hath established for ever.
69താന്‍ സദാകാലത്തേക്കും സ്ഥാപിച്ചിരിക്കുന്ന ഭൂമിയെപ്പോലെയും സ്വര്ഗ്ഗോന്നതികളെപ്പോലെയും അവന്‍ തന്റെ വിശുദ്ധമന്ദിരത്തെ പണിതു.
70He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheepfolds:
70അവന്‍ തന്റെ ദാസനായ ദാവീദിനെ തിരഞ്ഞെടുത്തു; ആട്ടിന്‍ തൊഴുത്തുകളില്‍നിന്നു അവനെ വരുത്തി.
71From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance.
71തന്റെ ജനമായ യാക്കോബിനെയും തന്റെ അവകാശമായ യിസ്രായേലിനെയും മേയിക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു അവന്‍ അവനെ തള്ളയാടുകളെ നോക്കുന്ന വേലയില്‍നിന്നു കൊണ്ടുവന്നു.
72So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skilfulness of his hands.
72അങ്ങനെ അവന്‍ പരമാര്‍ത്ഥഹൃദയത്തോടെ അവരെ മേയിച്ചു; കൈമിടുക്കോടെ അവരെ നടത്തി. (ആസാഫിന്റെ ഒരു സങ്കീര്‍ത്തനം.)
