¹These are now the chief of their fathers, and this is the genealogy of them that went up with me from Babylon, in the reign of Artaxerxes the king.

¹बाबेलहून यरुशलेमला माझ्याबरोबर, (म्हणजे एज्रारोबर) आपापल्या घराण्यातली जी वडीलधारी मंडळी आणि इतर लोक आले त्यांची नावे आता देतो. अर्तहशश्त राजाच्या कारकीर्दीत आम्ही यरुशलेमला आलो. त्या सर्वाची नावे पुढीलप्रमाणे:

²Of the sons of Phinehas; Gershom: of the sons of Ithamar; Daniel: of the sons of David; Hattush.

²फिनहासाच्या वंशजांमधला गर्षोम, इथामारच्या वंशजांमधला दानीएल, दावीदच्या वंशजांपैकी हट्टूश,

³Of the sons of Shechaniah, of the sons of Pharosh; Zechariah: and with him were reckoned by genealogy of the males an hundred and fifty.

³शखन्याच्या वंशजातील परोशाच्या वंशजांमधला जखऱ्या, आणि आणखी 150 जण,

⁴Of the sons of Pahathmoab; Elihoenai the son of Zerahiah, and with him two hundred males.

⁴पहथ-मवाबाच्या वंशजातल्या जरह याचा मुलगा एल्यहोवेनय आणि त्याच्याबरोबरचे 200 लोक,

⁵Of the sons of Shechaniah; the son of Jahaziel, and with him three hundred males.

⁵जट्टूच्या वंशजातल्या यहजोएलचा मुलगा शखन्या आणि 300 पुरुष.

⁶Of the sons also of Adin; Ebed the son of Jonathan, and with him fifty males.

⁶आदीनच्या वंशजातल्या योनाथानाचा मुलगा एबद आणि त्याच्याबरोबचे 50 जण.

⁷And of the sons of Elam; Jeshaiah the son of Athaliah, and with him seventy males.

⁷एलामाच्या वंशजातल्या अथल्याचा मुलगा यशाया आणि त्याच्याबरोबरचे 70 जण.

⁸And of the sons of Shephatiah; Zebadiah the son of Michael, and with him fourscore males.

⁸शफाट्याच्या वंशजातल्या मीखाएलचा मुलगा जबद्या आणि त्याच्याबरोबरचे 80 जण.

⁹Of the sons of Joab; Obadiah the son of Jehiel, and with him two hundred and eighteen males.

⁹यवाबच्या वंशजातील यहीएलचा मुलगा ओबद्या आणि आणखी 218 जण.

¹⁰And of the sons of Shelomith; the son of Josiphiah, and with him an hundred and threescore males.

¹⁰बानीच्या वंशजातल्या योसिफ्याचा मुलगा शलोमिथ आणि त्याच्या बरोबरचे 160 लोक.

¹¹And of the sons of Bebai; Zechariah the son of Bebai, and with him twenty and eight males.

¹¹बेबाईच्या वंशजातील बेबाईचा मुलगा जखऱ्या आणि त्याच्याबरोबरचे 28 लोक.

¹²And of the sons of Azgad; Johanan the son of Hakkatan, and with him an hundred and ten males.

¹²अजगादच्या वंशजातल्या हक्काटानाचा मुलगा योहानान आणि त्याच्याबरोबरचे 110 लोक.

¹³And of the last sons of Adonikam, whose names are these, Eliphelet, Jeiel, and Shemaiah, and with them threescore males.

¹³अदोनीकामच्या वंशजातले शेवटचे म्हणजे अलीफलेट, येऊएल, शमाया आणि त्यांच्याबरोबरचे 60 जण

¹⁴Of the sons also of Bigvai; Uthai, and Zabbud, and with them seventy males.

¹⁴आणि बिगवईच्या कुळातले उथई, जक्कूव त्यांच्याबरोबरचे 70 जण.

¹⁵And I gathered them together to the river that runneth to Ahava; and there abode we in tents three days: and I viewed the people, and the priests, and found there none of the sons of Levi.

¹⁵मी (म्हणजे एज्राने) या सर्व लोकांना अहवाकडे वाहणाऱ्या नदीच्या प्रवाहाजवळ बोलावून घेतले. त्या ठिकाणी आमचा तीन दिवस मुक्काम होता. तेथे मला असे समजले की या लोकांमध्ये याजक होते पण लेवी नव्हते.

¹⁶Then sent I for Eliezer, for Ariel, for Shemaiah, and for Elnathan, and for Jarib, and for Elnathan, and for Nathan, and for Zechariah, and for Meshullam, chief men; also for Joiarib, and for Elnathan, men of understanding.

¹⁶तेव्हा, अलियेजर, अरीएल, शमाया, एलनाथान, यारीब, एलनाथान, नाथान, जखऱ्या, आणि मशल्लूम या प्रमुखांना आणि योयारीब व एलनाथान या अध्यापकांना मी निरोप पाठवून बोलवून आणले.

¹⁷And I sent them with commandment unto Iddo the chief at the place Casiphia, and I told them what they should say unto Iddo, and to his brethren the Nethinims, at the place Casiphia, that they should bring unto us ministers for the house of our God.

¹⁷त्यांना इद्दोकडे पाठवले. इद्दो हा कासिक्या नगराचा मुख्य. त्याला आणि त्याच्या नातलगांना काय सांगायचे हे मी या मंडळींना सांगितले होते. इद्दोचे नातलगांना कासिक्याच्या मंदिरातील सेवेकरी होते. परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरातील सेवाचाकरी प्रीत्यर्थ माणसे मिळावीत म्हणून मी माझ्या लोकांना इद्दोकडे पाठवले.

¹⁸And by the good hand of our God upon us they brought us a man of understanding, of the sons of Mahli, the son of Levi, the son of Israel; and Sherebiah, with his sons and his brethren, eighteen;

¹⁸देवाचा आमच्यावर वरदहस्त असल्यामुळे इद्दोच्या नातलगांनी आमच्याकडे काहीजणांना पाठवले. लेवी वंशजातील महलीच्या वंशातला एक हुषार माणूस शेरेब्या महली हा लेवीच्या मुलांपैकी एक. लेवी हा इस्राएलांच्या वंशातलाच. शेरेब्याचे मुलगे आणि भाऊ यांनाही त्यांनी पाठवले. त्या वंशंजातील एकंदर अठराजण आमच्याकडे आले.

¹⁹And Hashabiah, and with him Jeshaiah of the sons of Merari, his brethren and their sons, twenty;

¹⁹मरारी वंशातील हशब्या आणि यशाया आणि त्यांचे भाऊ व भाचे, असे एकंदर वीस जण.

²⁰Also of the Nethinims, whom David and the princes had appointed for the service of the Levites, two hundred and twenty Nethinims: all of them were expressed by name.

²⁰शिवाय त्यांनी मंदिरातल्या सेवाचाकरीसाठी दोनशेवीस जणांना पाठवले. या लोकांच्या पूर्वजांना दावीदाने आणि प्रमुख अधिकाऱ्यांनी लेवींचे मदतनीस म्हणून निवडले होते. त्या सर्वांची नावे यादीत लिहिलेली होती.

²¹Then I proclaimed a fast there, at the river of Ahava, that we might afflict ourselves before our God, to seek of him a right way for us, and for our little ones, and for all our substance.

²¹तिथे अहवा नदी किनारी मी सर्वांनी उपवास करावा अशी घोषणा केली. देवापुढे नम्र व्हावे आणि आमची मुलंबाळे, साधनसंपत्ती यांच्यासह आमचा पुढचा प्रवास सुखरुप व्हावा हा आमचा उपवासामागचा होतू होता.

²²For I was ashamed to require of the king a band of soldiers and horsemen to help us against the enemy in the way: because we had spoken unto the king, saying, The hand of our God is upon all them for good that seek him; but his power and his wrath is against all them that forsake him.

²²प्रवासातल्या सुरक्षिततेसाठी राजाक़डे सैनिक आणि घोडेस्वार मागायचा मला संकोच वाटला. वाटचालीत शत्रूचा धोका होता. संरक्षण मागयचा संकोच वाटण्याचे कारण म्हणजे आम्ही राजा अर्तहशश्तला म्हणालो होतो, “जो देवावर विश्वास ठेवतो त्याची देव पाठराखण करतो. पण देवाकडे पाठ फिरवली तर देवाचा कोप होतो.”

²³So we fasted and besought our God for this: and he was intreated of us.

²³म्हणून आम्ही आमच्या प्रवासासाठी उपवास आणि देवाची प्रार्थना केली. परमेश्वरानेही आमचा धावा ऐकला.

²⁴Then I separated twelve of the chief of the priests, Sherebiah, Hashabiah, and ten of their brethren with them,

²⁴तेव्हा मी याजकांमध्ये जे प्रमुख होते अशा बारा जणांची निवड केली. मी शेरेब्या, हशब्या आणि त्यांचे आणखी दहा भाऊ यांची निवड केली.

²⁵And weighed unto them the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, even the offering of the house of our God, which the king, and his counsellors, and his lords, and all Israel there present, had offered:

²⁵मंदिरासाठी देण्यात आलेले सोने, चांदी आणि इतर चीजवस्तू यांचे नीट वजन करुन या गोष्टी मी या बारा याजकांना दिल्या. या वस्तू राजा अर्तहशश्त, त्याचे मंत्री, प्रमुख अधिकारी, आणि बाबेलमधील इस्राएल लोक यांनी दिल्या होत्या.

²⁶I even weighed unto their hand six hundred and fifty talents of silver, and silver vessels an hundred talents, and of gold an hundred talents;

²⁶मी वजन केले त्याप्रमाणे चांदी 25 टन भरली, चांदीची तबके आणि इतर वस्तू 3 3/4 टन भरल्या. सोने 3 3/4 टन होते.

²⁷Also twenty basons of gold, of a thousand drams; and two vessels of fine copper, precious as gold.

²⁷शिवाय मी सोन्याचे वीस कटोरे त्यांना दिले, त्यांचे वजन एकोणीस पौंड भरले. याखेरीज, सोन्याइतकीच किंमती अशी चकचकीत पितळेची दोन सुंदर तकबे मी त्यांना दिली.

²⁸And I said unto them, Ye are holy unto the LORD; the vessels are holy also; and the silver and the gold are a freewill offering unto the LORD God of your fathers.

²⁸मग मी त्या बारा याजकांना म्हणालो, “तुम्ही तसेच या वस्तू देखील देवाच्या दृष्टीने पवित्र आहेत. लोकांनी हे सोने चांदी आपल्या पूर्वजांचा देव परमेश्वर याच्यासाठी दिलेली आहे.

²⁹Watch ye, and keep them, until ye weigh them before the chief of the priests and the Levites, and chief of the fathers of Israel, at Jerusalem, in the chambers of the house of the LORD.

²⁹तेव्हा त्यांची काळजीपूर्वक जपवणूक करा. या गोष्टी यरुशलेममधील मंदिराच्या प्रमुखांच्या हवाली करेपर्यंत त्यांची जबाबदारी तुमच्यावरच आहे. तुम्ही या वस्तू मुख्य लेवी आणि इस्राएलमधील वडीलधारी मंडळी यांच्या हाती सोपवा. ते त्यांचे वजन करुन त्या गोष्टी यरुशलेममधील मंदिराच्या खोल्यांमध्ये ठेवतील.”

³⁰So took the priests and the Levites the weight of the silver, and the gold, and the vessels, to bring them to Jerusalem unto the house of our God.

³⁰यावर, एज्राने वजन करुन दिलेल्या खास भेटवस्तू आणि चांदी सोने याजकांनी व लेवींनी ताब्यात घेतले. यरुशलेममधील मंदिरात त्यांना घेऊन जाण्यास सांगण्यात आले.

³¹Then we departed from the river of Ahava on the twelfth day of the first month, to go unto Jerusalem: and the hand of our God was upon us, and he delivered us from the hand of the enemy, and of such as lay in wait by the way.

³¹पहिल्या महिन्याच्या बाराव्या दिवशी आम्ही अहवा नदीपासून यरुशलेमला जायला निघालो. देवाची आमच्यावर कृपा असल्यामुळे त्याने वैरी आणि वाटमारे यांच्यापासून आमचे संरक्षण केले.

³²And we came to Jerusalem, and abode there three days.

³²आम्ही यरुशलेमला पोचलो. तेथे तीन दिवस विश्रांती घेतली.

³³Now on the fourth day was the silver and the gold and the vessels weighed in the house of our God by the hand of Meremoth the son of Uriah the priest; and with him was Eleazar the son of Phinehas; and with them was Jozabad the son of Jeshua, and Noadiah the son of Binnui, Levites;

³³चौच्या दिवशी मंदिरात गेलो आणि सोने - चांदी व इतर वस्तू वजन करुन उरीया याजकाचा मुलगा मरेमोथ यांच्याकडे दिल्या. तेव्हा फिनहासचा मुलगा एलाजार तसेच येशूवाचा मुलगा योजाबाद आणि बिन्नुईचा मुलगा नोअद्या हे लेवी, एवढे जण मरेमोथ बरोबर होते.

³⁴By number and by weight of every one: and all the weight was written at that time.

³⁴आम्ही प्रत्येक गोष्टीची मोजणी, वजन केले आणि एकंदर वजनाची नोंद केली.

³⁵Also the children of those that had been carried away, which were come out of the captivity, offered burnt offerings unto the God of Israel, twelve bullocks for all Israel, ninety and six rams, seventy and seven lambs, twelve he goats for a sin offering: all this was a burnt offering unto the LORD.

³⁵त्यांनंतर बंदिवासातून परत आलेल्या यहुद्यांनी इस्राएलच्या देवाला यज्ञार्पणे वाहिली. सर्व इस्राएलकरता बारा बैल, शहाण्णव मेंढे, सत्याहत्तर नर कोकरे, पापार्पणासाठी बारा बोकड एवढे सगळे त्यांनी देवाला यज्ञात अर्पण केले.

³⁶And they delivered the king's commissions unto the king's lieutenants, and to the governors on this side the river: and they furthered the people, and the house of God.

³⁶मग या लोकांनी राजा अर्तहशश्तने दिलेले पत्र राजाच्या अधिकाऱ्यांना तसेच फरात नदीच्या पश्र्चिमेकडील भागावरच्या अधिकाऱ्यांना दिले. तेव्हा या सर्व अधिकाऱ्यांनी इस्राएल लोकांना आणि मंदिराला सहाय्य केले.
