1And it came to pass in the days of Amraphel king of Shinar, Arioch king of Ellasar, Chedorlaomer king of Elam, and Tidal king of nations;
1शिनाराचा राजा अम्रफेल, एल्लासाराचा राजा अर्योक, एलामाचाराजा कदार्लागोमर आणि गोयीमाचा राजा तिदाल,
2That these made war with Bera king of Sodom, and with Birsha king of Gomorrah, Shinab king of Admah, and Shemeber king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela, which is Zoar.
2यांनी सदोमाचा राजा बेरा, गमोराचा राजा बिर्शा, अदमाचा राजा शिनाब, सबोयिमाचा राजा शमेबर आणि बेलाचा म्हणजे सोअराचा राजा यांच्यांशी युद्ध केले.
3All these were joined together in the vale of Siddim, which is the salt sea.
3या सर्व राजांनी आपले सैन्य सिद्दीम खोऱ्यात एकत्र जमविले. (हे खोरे म्हणजे आताचा क्षार समुद्र)
4Twelve years they served Chedorlaomer, and in the thirteenth year they rebelled.
4या सर्व राजांनी बारा वर्षे कदार्ला गोमर राजाची सेवा केली, पंरतु तेरव्या वर्षी ते त्याच्या विरुद्ध उठले.
5And in the fourteenth year came Chedorlaomer, and the kings that were with him, and smote the Rephaim in Ashteroth Karnaim, and the Zuzims in Ham, and the Emins in Shaveh Kiriathaim,

7And they returned, and came to Enmishpat, which is Kadesh, and smote all the country of the Amalekites, and also the Amorites, that dwelt in Hazezontamar.
7त्यानंतर कदार्लागोमर राजा उत्तरेकडे वळाला व एन मिशपात म्हणजे कादेश येथे जाऊन त्याने अमालेकी लोकांचा पराभव केला; तसेच हससोन - तामार येथे राहणाऱ्या अमोरी लोकांचाही पराभव केला.
8And there went out the king of Sodom, and the king of Gomorrah, and the king of Admah, and the king of Zeboiim, and the king of Bela (the same is Zoar;) and they joined battle with them in the vale of Siddim;
8त्यावेळी सदोमाचा राजा, गमोराचा, राजा, अदमाचा सबोयिमाचा राजा आणि बेला म्हणजे सोअराचा राजा यांनी आपले सैन्य एकत्र केले व आपल्या शत्रूशी लढण्याकरिता ते सिद्दीम खोऱ्याकडे गेले.
9With Chedorlaomer the king of Elam, and with Tidal king of nations, and Amraphel king of Shinar, and Arioch king of Ellasar; four kings with five.
9एलामाचा राजा कदार्लागोमर, गोयीमाया राजा तिदाल, शिनाराचा राजा अम्राफेल आणि एलामाचा राजा अर्योक यांच्या विरुद्ध ते लढले; असे चार राजे पांच राजांविरुद्द लढले.
10And the vale of Siddim was full of slime pits; and the kings of Sodom and Gomorrah fled, and fell there; and they that remained fled to the mountain.
10सिद्दीम खोऱ्यात डांबराने भरलेल्या अनेक खाणी होत्या. सदोम व गमोराचे राजे सैन्यासह पळून जाताना बरेच सैनिक खाणीत पडले परंतु बाकीचे डोंगराकडे पळून गेले.
11And they took all the goods of Sodom and Gomorrah, and all their victuals, and went their way.
11तेव्हा त्यांच्या शत्रुनी सदोम व गमोरा येथील लोकांची सर्व मालमत्ता, अन्न व वस्त्र सामग्री लुटून नेली त्यांनी त्यांच्या सर्व वस्तू ही नेल्या.
12And they took Lot, Abram's brother's son, who dwelt in Sodom, and his goods, and departed.
12अब्रामाचा पुतण्या लोट सदोमात राहात होता. त्याला शत्रूनीं पकडले व त्याच्या मालकीच्या सर्व मालमत्तेसह त्याला कैद करुन ते घेऊन गेले.
13And there came one that had escaped, and told Abram the Hebrew; for he dwelt in the plain of Mamre the Amorite, brother of Eshcol, and brother of Aner: and these were confederate with Abram.
13या लढाईत पकडला न गेलेला एक मनुष्य अब्राम इब्रीकडे पळून गेला व त्याने त्याला हे वर्तमान सांगितले त्यावेळी अब्राम मम्रे अमोरी वृक्षांजवळ तळ देऊन राहिला होता; मम्रे, अष्कोल व आनेर ह्यांनी एकमेकांना व अब्रामाला मदत करण्याचा करार केला.
14And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan.
14लोटाला कैद करुन नेल्याचे वर्तमान अब्रामाला समजले, तेव्हा त्याने आपल्या कुटुंबात जन्मलेल्या सर्वांना एकत्र बोलावले व त्यांच्यातून लढाईच्या कामात कसलेले असे तीनशे अठरा तरबेज लढवैय्ये घेऊन त्याने थेट दान नगरापर्यंत शत्रूंचा पाठलाग केला.
15And he divided himself against them, he and his servants, by night, and smote them, and pursued them unto Hobah, which is on the left hand of Damascus.
15त्या रात्री त्याने आपल्या सैनिक दासासह शत्रूसैन्यावर अचानक हल्ला चढवला; त्यांनी शत्रू सैन्याचा पराभव केला व दिमिष्काच्या म्हणजे दमास्कसच्या उत्तरेस असलेल्या होबा पर्यंत त्यांचा पाठलाग केला.
16And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people.
16तेव्हा शत्रुने लुटलेली सगळी मालमत्ता तसेच आपला पुतण्या लोट याची मालमत्ता, स्त्रिया आणि दास अब्रामाने परत आणले.
17And the king of Sodom went out to meet him after his return from the slaughter of Chedorlaomer, and of the kings that were with him, at the valley of Shaveh, which is the king's dale.
17मग कदार्लागोमर व त्याच्याबरोबरचे राजे यांचा पराभव केल्यावर अब्राम आपल्या घरी गेला; तेव्हा सदोमाचा राजा शावेच्या खोऱ्यात त्याला भेटावयास गेला. (त्या खोऱ्याला आता राजाचे खोरे असे म्हणतात.)
18And Melchizedek king of Salem brought forth bread and wine: and he was the priest of the most high God.
18आणि परात्पर देवाचा याजक असलेला शालेमाचा राजा मलकीसदेकही भाकर व द्राक्षारस घेऊन अब्रामाला भेटण्यास आला.
19And he blessed him, and said, Blessed be Abram of the most high God, possessor of heaven and earth:
19मलकीसदेकाने अब्रामाला आशीर्वाद देऊन म्हटले, “अब्रामा, आकाश व पृथ्वी यांचा उत्पन्नकर्ता परात्पर देव तुला आशीर्वाद देवो.
20And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.
20त्या परात्पर देवाने तुझ्या शत्रूंचा पराभव करण्यास तुला मदत केली त्या परात्पर देवाचा आम्ही धन्यवाद करतो.” तेव्हा अब्रामाने लढाईच्या काळात त्याच्याजवळून जे जे घेतले होते त्याचा दहावा भाग मलकीसदेकाला दिला.
21And the king of Sodom said unto Abram, Give me the persons, and take the goods to thyself.
21मग सदोमाचा राजा अब्रामास म्हणाला, “मला फक्त कैद करुन नेलेले माझे लोक द्या आणि त्यांची मालमत्ता तुम्ही तुमच्यासाठी ठेवा.”
22And Abram said to the king of Sodom, I have lift up mine hand unto the LORD, the most high God, the possessor of heaven and earth,
22परंतु अब्राम सदोमाच्या राजाला म्हणाला, “आकाश व पृथ्वीचा निर्माणकर्ता परमेश्वर, परात्पर देव याला मी वचन देतो की,
23That I will not take from a thread even to a shoelatchet, and that I will not take any thing that is thine, lest thou shouldest say, I have made Abram rich:
23मी तुझे असलेले काहीही ठेवणार नाहीं, एखादे सूत वा जोड्याचा बंधही ठेवणार नाही ‘मी अब्रामाला श्रीमंत केले’ असे तू म्हणावे असे मला वाटत नाही.
24Save only that which the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men which went with me, Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.
24माझ्या या तरुण माणसांनी जे अन्न खाल्ले आहे तेवढ्याचाच मी स्वीकार करतो; परंतु इतर लोकांना लढाईतून मिळालेल्यापैकी त्यांचा वाटा घेऊ दे, आणि त्यातून काही आनेर, अष्कोल व मम्रे यांस दे, कारण त्यांनी लढाईत मला खूप मदत केली.”
