¹The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

¹आमोजचा मुलगा यशया ह्याला पुढीलप्रमाणे देवाचा दृष्टान्त झाला आणि यहूदा व यरूशलेम येथे पुढे घडणाऱ्या गोष्टी देवाने यशयाला दाखविल्या उज्जीया, योथाम, आहाज आणि हिज्कीया या यहूदी राजांच्या काळात घडून येणाऱ्या गोष्टी यशयाने पाहिल्या.

²Hear, O heavens, and give ear, O earth: for the LORD hath spoken, I have nourished and brought up children, and they have rebelled against me.

²हे स्वर्गा आणि हे पृथ्वी, परमेश्वर काय म्हणतो ते ऐका. परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “मी माझ्या मुलांचे पालनपोषण केले त्यांना लहानाचे मोठे केले. पण तीच मुले माझ्यावर उलटली.

³The ox knoweth his owner, and the ass his master's crib: but Israel doth not know, my people doth not consider.

³गाय आपल्या मालकाला ओळखते. गाढवालासुध्दा, आपला मालक आपल्याला कोठे खायला देणार ते, कळते. पण इस्राएल लोक मला जाणत नाहीत. माझ्या लोकांना काही समजत नाही.”

⁴Ah sinful nation, a people laden with iniquity, a seed of evildoers, children that are corrupters: they have forsaken the LORD, they have provoked the Holy One of Israel unto anger, they are gone away backward.

⁴इस्राएल हे राष्ट्र पापांनी भरले आहे. अन्याय, दुष्कृत्ये ह्यांचा बोजा त्यांच्यावर पडला आहे. पापी कुटुंबातील दुर्वर्तनी मुलांप्रमाणे इस्राएल लोक वागत आहेत. त्यांनी परमेश्वराचा त्याग केला आहे. इस्राएलच्या पवित्र देवाचा त्यांनी अपमान केला आहे. त्यांनी त्याचा त्याग केला व त्याला एखाद्या परक्या माणसाप्रमाणे वागवले.

⁵Why should ye be stricken any more? ye will revolt more and more: the whole head is sick, and the whole heart faint.

⁵देव म्हणतो, “मला तुम्हाला सतत शिक्षा का करावी लागावी? मी तुम्हाला शिक्षा केली तरी तुम्ही सुधारत नाही. तुम्ही माझ्याविरूध्द बंड करीतच राहता. सध्या प्रत्येकाचे डोके व हृदय कमकुवत झाले आहे.

⁶From the sole of the foot even unto the head there is no soundness in it; but wounds, and bruises, and putrifying sores: they have not been closed, neither bound up, neither mollified with ointment.

⁶तुमच्या पायापासून डोक्यापर्यंत शरीराच्या प्रत्येक अवयवावर जखमा, घाव व वाहते व्रण आहेत. त्या वाहत्या व्रणीची तुम्ही काळजी घेतली नाही. तुमच्या जखमा तेल सोडून नरम केल्या नाहीत आणि त्यावर पट्टीही बांधली नाही.

⁷Your country is desolate, your cities are burned with fire: your land, strangers devour it in your presence, and it is desolate, as overthrown by strangers.

⁷“तुमच्या देशाचा नाश झाला आहे. तुमची शहरे जाळली गेली आहेत. तुमच्या शत्रूंनी तुमचा देश काबीज केला आहे. सैन्यांनी एखादा देश उद्ध्वस्त करावा तशी तुमची भूमी झाली आहे.

⁸And the daughter of Zion is left as a cottage in a vineyard, as a lodge in a garden of cucumbers, as a besieged city.

⁸सीयोनची मुलगी (यरूशलेम) द्राक्षांच्या बागेतील रिकाम्या खोपटाप्रमाणे झाली आहे. तिची अवस्था काकडीच्या शेतातील जुन्या घराप्रमाणे झाली आहे. शत्रूने पराभूत केलेल्या नगराप्रमाणे ती दिसते.”

⁹Except the LORD of hosts had left unto us a very small remnant, we should have been as Sodom, and we should have been like unto Gomorrah.

⁹सर्व शक्तिमान परमेश्वराने काही लोकांना जिवंत ठेवले नसते तर सदोम अथवा गमोरा ह्या शहरांप्रमाणे आपला संपूर्ण नाश झाला असता.

¹⁰Hear the word of the LORD, ye rulers of Sodom; give ear unto the law of our God, ye people of Gomorrah.

¹⁰सदोमच्या नेत्यांनो, परमेश्वराचा संदेश ऐका गमोराच्या लोकांनो, देवाच्या शिकवणुकीकडे लक्ष द्या.

¹¹To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats.

¹¹देव म्हणतो, “तुम्ही माझ्यापुढे सतत यज्ञबलि का करता? मला तुमच्या मेंढ्यांच्या, वासरांच्या चरबीच्या, आणि बैल, कोकरे आणि बकऱ्यांच्या यज्ञबलिंचा आता वीट आला आहे.

¹²When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts?

¹²तुम्ही माझ्या दर्शनाला येता तेव्हा माझ्या अंगणातील प्रत्येक गोष्ट तुडविता. असे करायला तुम्हाला कोणी सांगितले?

¹³Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting.

¹³“माझ्यासाठी निरर्थक यज्ञबलि देणे थांबवा. माझ्यापुढे जळणाऱ्या धुपाचा मला वीट आला आहे. चंद्रदर्शन शब्बाथ व सुटी यांच्या निमित्ताने होणाऱ्या मेजवान्या मला आवडत नाहीत. धार्मिक सभेत तुम्ही करीत असलेली दुष्कृत्ये मला अजिबात पसंत नाहीत.

¹⁴Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them.

¹⁴तुमच्या मासिक सभा व मेळावे यांची मला मनापासून घृणा वाटते. ह्या सभांचे मला ओझे झाले आहे. मी ह्याला कंटाळलो आहे.

¹⁵And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many prayers, I will not hear: your hands are full of blood.

¹⁵“प्रार्थना करण्यासाठी उचललेल्या तुमच्या हाताकडे मी लक्ष देणार नाही. तुम्ही कितीही प्रार्थना केली तरी ऐकणार नाही. का? कारण तुमचे हातरक्ताने माखले आहेत.

¹⁶Wash you, make you clean; put away the evil of your doings from before mine eyes; cease to do evil;

¹⁶“शुचिर्भूत व्हा. स्वच्छ व्हा. तुमची दुष्कृत्ये थांबवा. मला वाईट गोष्टी बघायच्या नाहीत. चुकीचे वागू नका.

¹⁷Learn to do well; seek judgment, relieve the oppressed, judge the fatherless, plead for the widow.

¹⁷चांगल्या गोष्टी करायला शिका. दुसऱ्यांशी न्यायाने वागा. जे दुसऱ्यांना क्लेष देतात त्यांना शासन करा. अनाथ मुलांना मदत करा. विधवांना साहाय्य करा.”

¹⁸Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as white as snow; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.

¹⁸परमेश्वर म्हणातो, “या, आपण या गोष्टींची चर्चा करू या. तुमची पातके कितीही काळीकुट्ट (शब्दश: शेंदरासारखी लाल) असली तरी ती धुता येतील आणि तुम्ही हिमाप्रमाणे पांढरेशुभ्र व्हाल. जरी तुमची पापे लाल असली तरी तुम्ही शुभ्र लोकरीसारखे व्हाल.

¹⁹If ye be willing and obedient, ye shall eat the good of the land:

¹⁹“तुम्ही माझे म्हणणे ऐकाल तर ह्या देशातील चांगल्या वस्तू तुम्हाल प्राप्त होतील.

²⁰But if ye refuse and rebel, ye shall be devoured with the sword: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.

²⁰माझे म्हणणे न ऐकणे हे माझ्याविरूध्द जाण्यासारखे होईल आणि शत्रू तुमचा नाश करेल.” स्वत: परमेश्वराने या गोष्टी सांगितल्या.

²¹How is the faithful city become an harlot! it was full of judgment; righteousness lodged in it; but now murderers.

²¹देव म्हणतो, “यरूशलेमेकडे पाहा. ही नगरी माझ्यावर श्रध्दा ठेवणारी आणि माझ्या मताप्रमाणे वागणारी होती. आताच तिला असे वारांगनेप्रमाणे वागायला काय झाले? आता ती माझ्या म्हणण्याप्रमाणे वागत नाही. यरूशलेमला प्रामणिक बनवली पाहिजे. यरूशलेममध्ये राहणाऱ्या लोकांनी देवाच्या इच्छेप्रमाणे राहिले पाहिजे. पण सध्या तेथे खुनी लोक राहतात.

²²Thy silver is become dross, thy wine mixed with water:

²²“चांगुलपणा हा चांदीसारखा असतो. पण तुझ्या चांदीला काहीही मोल राहिलेले नाही. तुझ्या द्राक्षरसात (चांगुलपणात) पाणी मिसळल्याने तो पातळ झाला आहे.

²³Thy princes are rebellious, and companions of thieves: every one loveth gifts, and followeth after rewards: they judge not the fatherless, neither doth the cause of the widow come unto them.

²³तुझे सत्ताधीश बंडखोर व चोरांचे साथीदार झाले आहेत. तुझे सगळे सत्ताधीश लाच मागतात. चुकीच्या गोष्टी करण्यासाठी ते पैसे घेतात. लोकांना फसविण्यासाठी ते पगार घेतात. ते अनाथ मुलांना मदत करीत नाहीत आणि विधवांच्या गरजांकडे लक्ष देत नाहीत.”

²⁴Therefore saith the LORD, the LORD of hosts, the mighty One of Israel, Ah, I will ease me of mine adversaries, and avenge me of mine enemies:

²⁴यामुळे प्रभू, सर्वशक्तिमान परमेश्वर, इस्राएलचा सामर्थ्यवान ईश्वर म्हणतो, “माझ्या शत्रूंनो, मी तुम्हाला शिक्षा करीन. तुम्ही मला जास्त त्रास देऊ शकणार नाही.

²⁵And I will turn my hand upon thee, and purely purge away thy dross, and take away all thy tin:

²⁵चांदी स्वच्छ करण्यासाठी लोक एक रसायन वापरतात. मी तसेच करीन आणि तुझी दुष्कृते धुवून काढीन. मी तुझ्यातील सर्व निरर्थक गोष्टी काढून टाकीन.

²⁶And I will restore thy judges as at the first, and thy counsellors as at the beginning: afterward thou shalt be called, The city of righteousness, the faithful city.

²⁶सुरूवातीला होते त्याप्रमाणे मी न्यायाधीश नेमीन. पूर्वीप्रमाणेच मंत्री नेमीन मग तुला सर्वजण ‘चांगली व निष्ठावंत नगरी म्हणतील.”‘

²⁷Zion shall be redeemed with judgment, and her converts with righteousness.

²⁷देव कल्याण करणारा आहे आणि तो योग्य त्याच गोष्टी करतो. म्हणूनच सीयोनचा व जे त्याला शरण येतील अशा लोकांचा, देव उध्दार करेल.

²⁸And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the LORD shall be consumed.

²⁸पण सर्व गुन्हेगारांचा आणि पापी लोकांचा नाश होईल. (हे लोक परमेश्वराचे ऐकणारे नाहीत.)

²⁹For they shall be ashamed of the oaks which ye have desired, and ye shall be confounded for the gardens that ye have chosen.

²⁹भविष्यात, ज्या ओकच्या झाडांची लोक पूजा करतात व ज्या खास बागांमध्ये जाऊन मूर्तींची पूजा करतात, त्या झाडांची व बागांची लोकांना लाज वाटेल.

³⁰For ye shall be as an oak whose leaf fadeth, and as a garden that hath no water.

³⁰असे होण्याचे कारण तुम्ही त्या पाने गळून जाणाऱ्या ओकच्या झाडांप्रमाणे किंवा पाणी नसल्याने सुकत चाललेल्या बागांप्रमाणे व्हाल.

³¹And the strong shall be as tow, and the maker of it as a spark, and they shall both burn together, and none shall quench them.

³¹बलाढ्य माणसे लहानशा वाळलेल्या लाकडाच्या ढलपीप्रमाणे होतील. त्यांची कर्मे आग लावणाऱ्या ठिणगीसारखी असतील. ती बलाढ्य माणसे व त्यांची कर्मे ह्यांना एकदमच आग लागेल आणि ती आग कोणीही विझवू शकणार नाहीत.
