¹The sin of Judah is written with a pen of iron, and with the point of a diamond: it is graven upon the table of their heart, and upon the horns of your altars;

¹“यहूदी लोकांची पापे, खोडता येणे शक्य नाही, अशा ठिकाणी लिहिली आहेत. ती लोखंडी लेखणीने दगडावर कोरली आहेत. हिरकणीचे टोक असलेल्या लेखणीने ती पाषाणावर कोरली आहेत. तो पाषाण म्हणजेच त्यांचे ह्दय होय. ती पापे वेदीच्या शिंगांवर कोरली आहेत.

²Whilst their children remember their altars and their groves by the green trees upon the high hills.

²खोट्या देवांना अर्पण केलेल्या त्या वेदी त्यांच्या मुलांना आठवतात. अशेरला अर्पण केलेले कालकडी खांब त्यांना आठवतात. टेकडीवरच्या व हिरव्या झाडाखालच्या त्या वस्तू त्यांना स्मरतात.

³O my mountain in the field, I will give thy substance and all thy treasures to the spoil, and thy high places for sin, throughout all thy borders.

³विस्तीर्ण प्रदेशातील डोंगरावरील त्या वस्तू त्यांना आठवतात यहूदी लोकांकडे बरीच संपत्ती आहे ती सर्व मी दुसऱ्या देशांना देईन. तुम्ही जेथे पूजाआर्चा करता आणि जे पाप आहे, अशी उच्च स्थाने दुसरे लोक नष्ट करतील.

⁴And thou, even thyself, shalt discontinue from thine heritage that I gave thee; and I will cause thee to serve thine enemies in the land which thou knowest not: for ye have kindled a fire in mine anger, which shall burn for ever.

⁴मी तुम्हाला दिलेली भूमी तुम्ही गमवाल. मी तुमच्या शत्रूंना तुम्हाला गुलाम म्हणून अज्ञान भूमीत नेऊ देईन. का? कारण मी खूप संतापलो आहे. माझा संताप प्रखर अग्नीप्रमाणे आहे, त्यात तुम्ही कायमचे जळून भस्म व्हाल.”

⁵Thus saith the LORD; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the LORD.

⁵परमेश्वर म्हणतो, “जे दुसऱ्या लोकांवर विश्वास ठेवतात, त्यांचे वाईट होईल. सामर्थ्यासाठी जे दुसऱ्यावर विसंबतात, त्याचे भले होणार नाही. का? कारण त्यांनी परमेश्वरावर विश्वास ठेवणे सोडून दिले.

⁶For he shall be like the heath in the desert, and shall not see when good cometh; but shall inhabit the parched places in the wilderness, in a salt land and not inhabited.

⁶ते लोक वाळवंटातील झुडुपाप्रमाणे होत. निर्जन, उष्ण आणि कोरड्या व वाईट जमिनीवरील झुडुपाप्रमाणे ते आहेत. देव किती भले करु शकतो, ह्याची त्या झुडुपाला जाणीव नाही.

⁷Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is.

⁷परंतु परमेश्वरावर विश्वास ठेवणाऱ्यावर कृपादृष्टी होईल. का? कारण परमेश्वर विश्वासास प्रात्र आहे, ह्याची देव त्याला प्रचिती देईल.

⁸For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.

⁸तो माणूस पाण्याजवळ असलेल्या वृक्षाप्रमाणे बळकट होईल. त्या झाडाची मुळे लांब असल्याने त्याला पाणी मिळतेच. उष्ण दिवसांचे त्याला भय नसते. त्याची पाने नेहमीच हिरवी असतात. एखाद्या वर्षी पाऊस पडला नाही, तरी त्याला चिंता नसते. त्याला नेहमीच फळे धरतात.

⁹The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?

⁹“माणसाचे मन फार कपटी असते. त्याच्यावर काही औषध नाही. म्हणूनच कोणालाही मनाचे खरे आकलन होत नाही.

¹⁰I the LORD search the heart, I try the reins, even to give every man according to his ways, and according to the fruit of his doings.

¹⁰पण मी प्रत्यक्ष परमेश्वर असल्याने, मी माणसाच्या मनात डोकावू शकतो मी माणसाच्या मनाची परीक्षा घेऊ शकतो. प्रत्येकाला काय हवे ते मी ठरवू शकतो प्रत्येकाला त्याच्या कर्माचे योग्य फळ मी देऊ शकतो.

¹¹As the partridge sitteth on eggs, and hatcheth them not; so he that getteth riches, and not by right, shall leave them in the midst of his days, and at his end shall be a fool.

¹¹काही वेळा, एकादी पक्षीण स्वत: न घातलेले अंडे उबविते. धनासाठी जो माणूस फसवणूक करतो, तो ह्या पक्षिणी सारखाच असतो. अर्ध्या आयुष्यातच हा माणूस धन गमावेल. त्याच्या आयुष्याच्या सरत्या काळात तो दुष्ट म्हणून ओळखला जाईल.”

¹²A glorious high throne from the beginning is the place of our sanctuary.

¹²आरंभीपासून आमचे मंदिर म्हणजे देवासाठी एक भव्य आसन झाले आहे. ती महत्वाची वास्तू आहे.

¹³O LORD, the hope of Israel, all that forsake thee shall be ashamed, and they that depart from me shall be written in the earth, because they have forsaken the LORD, the fountain of living waters.

¹³परमेश्वरा, तू इस्राएलचे आशास्थान आहेस. तू पाण्याच्या जिवंत झऱ्याप्रमाणे आहेस. जो परमेश्वराला अनुसरणे सोडेल, त्याला लाजवले जाईल आणि त्याचे आयुष्य अल्प असेल.

¹⁴Heal me, O LORD, and I shall be healed; save me, and I shall be saved: for thou art my praise.

¹⁴परमेश्वरा, तू मला बरे केलेस, तर मी पूर्ण बरा होईन. तू मला वाचविलेस, तर मी खरोखच वाचेन. देवा, मी तुझी स्तुती करतो.

¹⁵Behold, they say unto me, Where is the word of the LORD? let it come now.

¹⁵यहूदातील लोक मला सतत प्रश्र्न विचारतात. ते विचारतात, “यिर्मया, परमेश्वराच्या संदेशाचे काय? तो खरोखरीच खरा ठरतो का ते पाहू या.”

¹⁶As for me, I have not hastened from being a pastor to follow thee: neither have I desired the woeful day; thou knowest: that which came out of my lips was right before thee.

¹⁶परमेश्वरा, मी तुला सोडून पळून गेलो नाही. मी तुला अनुसरलो. मी तुला पाहिजे तसा मेंढपाळ बनलो. तो भयंकर दिवस उजाडावा असे मला वाटत नव्हते. मी सांगितलेल्या गोष्टी परमेश्वरा तुला माहीतच आहेत. काय घडत आहे, ते तू पाहतोसच.

¹⁷Be not a terror unto me: thou art my hope in the day of evil.

¹⁷परमेश्वरा, माझा नाश करु नकोस. संकटकाळी, मला तुझा आधार वाटतो.

¹⁸Let them be confounded that persecute me, but let not me be confounded: let them be dismayed, but let not me be dismayed: bring upon them the day of evil, and destroy them with double destruction.

¹⁸लोक मला त्रास देतात. त्यांना तू खजील कर. पण माझी निराशा करु नकोस. त्यांना धाक दाखव पण मला घाबरवू नकोस तो भयंकर अरिष्टाचा दिवस माझ्या शत्रूंवर आण आणि त्यांचा पुन्हा पुन्हा बिमोड कर.

¹⁹Thus said the LORD unto me; Go and stand in the gate of the children of the people, whereby the kings of Judah come in, and by the which they go out, and in all the gates of Jerusalem;

¹⁹परमेश्वराने मला पुढील गोष्टी सांगितल्या: “यिर्मया, यहूदाचे राजे यरुशलेमच्या ज्या प्रवेशद्वारातून ये - जा करतात, त्या लोकद्वारात जाऊन उभा राहा आणि लोकांना माझा सदेश सांग. मग यरुशलेमच्या इतर प्रवेशद्वारापाशी जाऊन हेच कर.

²⁰And say unto them, Hear ye the word of the LORD, ye kings of Judah, and all Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, that enter in by these gates:

²⁰“त्या लोकांना सांग, ‘परमेश्वराचा संदेश ऐका. यहूदाच्या राजांनो आणि लोकांनो व यरुशलेमच्या प्रवेशद्वारांतून प्रवेश करणाऱ्या सर्वांनो, माझे ऐका.”

²¹Thus saith the LORD; Take heed to yourselves, and bear no burden on the sabbath day, nor bring it in by the gates of Jerusalem;

²¹परमेश्वराने पुढील गोष्टी सांगितल्या आहेत: शब्बाथच्या दिवशी तुम्ही ओझे वाहणार नाही याची काळजी घ्या. त्या दिवशी, यरुशलेमच्या प्रवेशद्वारातून ओझी वाहून आणू नका.

²²Neither carry forth a burden out of your houses on the sabbath day, neither do ye any work, but hallow ye the sabbath day, as I commanded your fathers.

²²त्या दिवशी, तुमच्या घरांतून ओझी बाहेर आणू नका. त्या दिवशी कोणतेही काम करु नका. तुम्ही शब्बाथचा दिवस एक पवित्र म्हणून पाळा. तुमच्या पूर्वजांना मी हीच आज्ञा केली होती.

²³But they obeyed not, neither inclined their ear, but made their neck stiff, that they might not hear, nor receive instruction.

²³पण त्यांनी ती पाळली नाही. त्यांनी माझ्याकडे लक्ष दिले नाही. तुमचे पूर्वज हटवादी होते. मी त्यांना शिक्षा केली, पण त्याचा काहीच फायदा झाला नाही. त्यांनी माझे ऐकले नाही.

²⁴And it shall come to pass, if ye diligently hearken unto me, saith the LORD, to bring in no burden through the gates of this city on the sabbath day, but hallow the sabbath day, to do no work therein;

²⁴पण तुम्ही माझी आज्ञा पाळण्याची काळजी घ्या.” हा परमेश्वराकडून आलेला संदेश आहे. “शब्बाथच्या दिवशी, यरुशलेमच्या प्रदेशद्वारातून, तुम्ही ओझी आणता कामा नये; शब्बाथचे पावित्र्य राखा. कोणतेही काम न करता तुम्ही हे करु शकता.

²⁵Then shall there enter into the gates of this city kings and princes sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, they, and their princes, the men of Judah, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem: and this city shall remain for ever.

²⁵“तुम्ही जर ही आज्ञा पाळलीत, तर दावीदाच्या सिंहासनावर बसणारे राजे यरुशलेमच्या प्रदेशद्वारांतून येतील. ते रथांतून आणि घोड्यावरुन येतील. यहूदाचे आणि यरुशलेमचे नेते त्यांच्याबरोबर असतील. यरुशलेममध्ये लोक कायमचे वास्तव्य करतील.

²⁶And they shall come from the cities of Judah, and from the places about Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plain, and from the mountains, and from the south, bringing burnt offerings, and sacrifices, and meat offerings, and incense, and bringing sacrifices of praise, unto the house of the LORD.

²⁶यहूदाच्या शहरांतून लोक यरुशलेमला येतील, यरुशलेमच्या आजूबाजूच्या खेड्यातून, बन्यामीनच्या कुळातील लोक ज्या प्रदेशात राहतात, त्या प्रदेशातून, पश्र्चिमेच्या डोंगरपायथ्याच्या भागातून, डोंगराळ प्रदेशातून आणि नेगेवमधून लोक यरुशलेमला येतील, हे सर्व लोक होमार्पण, धान्यार्पण, धूप आणतील आणि कृतज्ञता व्यक्त करतील. ते हे सर्व परमेश्वराच्या मंदिरात आणतील.

²⁷But if ye will not hearken unto me to hallow the sabbath day, and not to bear a burden, even entering in at the gates of Jerusalem on the sabbath day; then will I kindle a fire in the gates thereof, and it shall devour the palaces of Jerusalem, and it shall not be quenched.

²⁷“पण तुम्ही जर माझे ऐकले नाही अथवा माझी आज्ञा पाळली नाही, तर वाईट गोष्टी घडतील. जर तुम्ही शब्बाथच्या दिवशी ओझे वाहिले, तर तुम्ही त्या दिवसाचे पावित्र्य राखले नाही, असे होईल. मग कधींही विझू न शकणारी आग मी लावीन. यरुशलेमच्या प्रवेशद्वारापासून सुरु झालेली ही आग राजवाडे जाळेपर्यंत जळत राहील.”
