¹Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying,

¹तेव्हा यरूशलेमाहून काही परूशी व नियमशास्त्राचे शिक्षक येशूकडे आले व म्हणाले,

²Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread.

²“तुमचे शिष्य पूर्वजांनी घालून दिलेले नियम का पाळत नाहीत? कारण तुमचे शिष्य जेवणापूर्वी हात धूत नाहीत.

³But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

³येशूने उत्तर दिले, “आणि तुम्ही तुमच्या परंपरा चालविण्यासाठी देवाची आज्ञा का मोडता?

⁴For God commanded, saying, Honour thy father and mother: and, He that curseth father or mother, let him die the death.

⁴कारण देवाने सांगितले आहे की, तुझ्या आईवडिलांचा मान राख आणि जो कोणी आपल्या आईवडिलांबद्दल वाईट बोलतो, त्याला जिवे मारावे.

⁵But ye say, Whosoever shall say to his father or his mother, It is a gift, by whatsoever thou mightest be profited by me;

⁵पण तुम्ही म्हणता, जो कोणी पित्याला किंवा आईला म्हणेल की, तुला जे काही दिल्याने तुझा जो फायदा झाला असता, ते मी देवाला अर्पण केले आहे

⁶And honour not his father or his mother, he shall be free. Thus have ye made the commandment of God of none effect by your tradition.

⁶ते देवाचे नियम मोडीत आहेत. आपल्या वडिलांचा व आईचा सन्मान करू नये. याप्रकारे तुम्ही आपल्या अशा परंपरेने देवाचे वचन रद्द केले आहे.

⁷Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesy of you, saying,

⁷अहो ढोंग्यानो, तुम्हांविषयी यशया संदेष्ट्यांने योग्य सांगितले आहे. तो म्हणतो.

⁸This people draweth nigh unto me with their mouth, and honoureth me with their lips; but their heart is far from me.

⁸हे लोक, ओठांनी माझा सन्मान करतात पण त्यांचे ह्रदय माझ्यापासून दूर आहे.

⁹But in vain they do worship me, teaching for doctrines the commandments of men.

⁹आणि ते माणसाचे नियम आपली धर्मतत्त्वे म्हणून शिकवितात आणि व्यर्थच माझी उपासना करतात.”‘ यशया 29:13

¹⁰And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear, and understand:

¹⁰तेव्हा लोकांना जवळ बोलावून त्याने म्हटले, ऐका व समजून घ्या.

¹¹Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man.

¹¹जे तोंडाद्वारे आत जाते ते माणसाला अशुद्ध करीत नाही, पण जे तोंडातून बाहेर निघते तेच माणसाला अशुद्ध करते.”

¹²Then came his disciples, and said unto him, Knowest thou that the Pharisees were offended, after they heard this saying?

¹²नंतर शिष्य जवळ येऊन त्याला म्हणाले, परूश्यांनी जेव्हा हे ऐकले तेव्हा ते रागावले हे आपणांला कळते काय?

¹³But he answered and said, Every plant, which my heavenly Father hath not planted, shall be rooted up.

¹³पण त्याने उत्तर देऊन म्हटले, प्रत्येक रोपटे जे माझ्या स्वर्गातील पित्याने लावले नाही ते उपटले जाईल.

¹⁴Let them alone: they be blind leaders of the blind. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

¹⁴त्यांना जाऊ द्या. ते आंधळे वाटाडे आहेत. जर एका आंधळ्याने दुसऱ्या आंधळ्याला वाट दाखवण्याचा प्रयत्न केला तर दोघेही खड्ड्यात पडतील.”

¹⁵Then answered Peter and said unto him, Declare unto us this parable.

¹⁵पेत्र म्हणाला, “आमच्यासाठी या बोधकथचे स्पष्टीकरण करा.”

¹⁶And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?

¹⁶“तुम्ही अजूनही बुद्धिमंदच आहेत काय?” येशूने त्यांना विचारले.

¹⁷Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?

¹⁷“जे काही तोंडात जाते ते सर्व पोटात जाते व मग बाहेर टाकले जाते. हे तुम्हांला अजून समजत नाही काय?

¹⁸But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.

¹⁸परंतु ज्या गोष्टी तोंडातून बाहेर निघतात त्या अंत:करणातून येतात व त्याच माणसाला डागाळतात.

¹⁹For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:

¹⁹कारण वाईट विचार, खून, व्यभिचार, जारकर्मे, खोट्या साक्षी, निंदा ही अंत:करणातून बाहेर निघतात.

²⁰These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.

²⁰माणसाला डागाळणाऱ्या याच गोष्टी आहेत न धुतलेल्या हाताने खाण्याने माणसाला विटाळ होत नाही.”

²¹Then Jesus went thence, and departed into the coasts of Tyre and Sidon.

²¹नंतर येशू तेथून निघून सोर व सिदोन चा भागात गेला.

²²And, behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried unto him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a devil.

²²तेव्हा एक कनानी स्त्री त्या भागातून येशूकडे आली. ती स्त्री ओरडून म्हणाली, “प्रभु, दाविदाच्या पुत्रा, माझ्यावर दया करा. माझी मुलगी भुताने पछाडली आहे.”

²³But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away; for she crieth after us.

²³पण येशूने तिला एका शब्दानेही उत्तर दिले नाही, तेव्हा त्याच्या शिष्यांनी येऊन त्याला विनंति केली, “तिला पाठवून द्या, कारण ती आमच्या मागे ओरडत येत आहे.”

²⁴But he answered and said, I am not sent but unto the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

²⁴पण येशूने उत्तर दिले, “मला देवाने फक्त इस्राएलाच्या हरवलेल्या मेढरांकडे पाठविले आहे.”

²⁵Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me.

²⁵मग ती स्त्री पुन्हा येशूकडे आली, ती येशूच्या पाया पडली व म्हणाली, “प्रभु, माझे साहाय्य करा.

²⁶But he answered and said, It is not meet to take the children's bread, and to cast it to dogs.

²⁶परंतु त्याने म्हटले, “मुलाची भाकर घेऊन कुत्र्यास टाकणे बरे नाही.”

²⁷And she said, Truth, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters' table.

²⁷ती स्त्री म्हणाली, “होय प्रभु, परंतु कुत्रीही आपल्या धन्याच्या मेजावरून पडलेले उष्टे चूर खातात.

²⁸Then Jesus answered and said unto her, O woman, great is thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt. And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

²⁸तेव्हा येशूने तिला म्हटले, “बाई, तुझा विश्वास मोठा आहे. तुझ्या इच्छेप्रमाणे तुला होवो.” आणी तिची मुलगी बरी झाली.

²⁹And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh unto the sea of Galilee; and went up into a mountain, and sat down there.

²⁹नंतर येशू तेथून निघुन गालील सरोवराकडे गेला. येशू डोंगरावर गेला आणि तेथे बसला.

³⁰And great multitudes came unto him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them:

³⁰मग पुष्कळ लोक त्याच्याकडे आले, त्यांनी आपल्याबरोबर लुळे, पांगळे, आंधळे, बहिरे व इतर अनेक लोकांना आणले होते आणि त्यांनी त्या आजाऱ्यांना येशूच्या पायावर ठेवले. तेव्हा त्याने त्यांना बरे केले.

³¹Insomuch that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

³¹मुके बोलू लागले, लुळे सशक्त झाले. व्यंग असलेले चांगले झाले, लंगडे चालू लागले, आंधळे पाहू लागले. हे पाहून लोक थक्क झाले, आणि त्यांनी इस्राएलाच्या देवाचा गौरव केले.

³²Then Jesus called his disciples unto him, and said, I have compassion on the multitude, because they continue with me now three days, and have nothing to eat: and I will not send them away fasting, lest they faint in the way.

³²मग येशूने आपल्या शिष्यांस आपल्याजवळ बोलावून म्हटले, “मला लोकांचा कळवळा येतो. कारण ते आज तीन दिवस झाले माझ्याजवळ राहिले आहेत आणि त्यांच्याकडे खायला काही नाही, आणि त्यांना उपाशी पाठवावे अशी माझी इच्छा नाही. कारण ते वाटेत कदाचित मूर्च्छित होतील.”

³³And his disciples say unto him, Whence should we have so much bread in the wilderness, as to fill so great a multitude?

³³शिष्य त्याला म्हणाले, “एवढ्या मोठ्या लोकसमुदायाला तृप्त करावे इतक्या भाकरी ह्या दूर रानात आमच्याजवळ कोठून असणार?”

³⁴And Jesus saith unto them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven, and a few little fishes.

³⁴तेव्हा येशू म्हाणाला, “तुमच्याजवळ किती भाकरी आहेत?” ते म्हणाले, “आमच्याकडे सात भाकरी आहेत व काही मासे आहेत.”

³⁵And he commanded the multitude to sit down on the ground.

³⁵मग त्याने लोकांना जमिनीवर बसविण्याची आज्ञा केली.

³⁶And he took the seven loaves and the fishes, and gave thanks, and brake them, and gave to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.

³⁶मग त्या सात भाकरी व मासे घेऊन त्याने देवाचे उपकार मानले व त्या भाकरी मोडल्या व शिष्यांना दिल्या व शिष्यांनी लोकांना दिल्या.

³⁷And they did all eat, and were filled: and they took up of the broken meat that was left seven baskets full.

³⁷तेव्हा ते सर्व जेवून तृप्त झाले आणि त्यांनी उरलेल्या तुकड्यांनी भरलेल्या सात पाट्या गोळा केल्या.

³⁸And they that did eat were four thousand men, beside women and children.

³⁸आणि जेवणारे, स्त्रिया व लेकरे सोडून चार हजार पुरूष होते.

³⁹And he sent away the multitude, and took ship, and came into the coasts of Magdala.

³⁹मग समुदायास निरोप दिल्यावर तो नावेत बसून मगदानाच्या हद्दीत गेला.
