1And Moses with the elders of Israel commanded the people, saying, Keep all the commandments which I command you this day.

2And it shall be on the day when ye shall pass over Jordan unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, that thou shalt set thee up great stones, and plaster them with plaster:
2Og når I kommer over Jordan til det land Herren din Gud gir dig, da skal du reise op nogen store stener og stryke dem over med kalk.
3And thou shalt write upon them all the words of this law, when thou art passed over, that thou mayest go in unto the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee, a land that floweth with milk and honey; as the LORD God of thy fathers hath promised thee.
3På dem skal du, når du er kommet over, skrive alle ordene i denne lov, forat du kan komme inn i det land Herren din Gud gir dig, et land som flyter med melk og honning, således som Herren, dine fedres Gud, har tilsagt dig.
4Therefore it shall be when ye be gone over Jordan, that ye shall set up these stones, which I command you this day, in mount Ebal, and thou shalt plaster them with plaster.
4Så snart I er kommet over Jordan, skal I reise op disse stener som jeg idag gir eder befaling om, på Ebal-fjellet, og du skal stryke dem over med kalk.
5And there shalt thou build an altar unto the LORD thy God, an altar of stones: thou shalt not lift up any iron tool upon them.
5Og du skal bygge Herren din Gud et alter der, et alter av stener; du skal ikke bruke jern på dem.
6Thou shalt build the altar of the LORD thy God of whole stones: and thou shalt offer burnt offerings thereon unto the LORD thy God:
6Av hele stener skal du bygge Herrens, din Guds alter, og du skal ofre Herren din Gud brennoffer på det.
7And thou shalt offer peace offerings, and shalt eat there, and rejoice before the LORD thy God.
7Og du skal ofre takkoffer og ete dem der og være glad for Herrens, din Guds åsyn.
8And thou shalt write upon the stones all the words of this law very plainly.
8Og du skal skrive på stenene alle ordene i denne lov, klart og tydelig.
9And Moses and the priests the Levites spake unto all Israel, saying, Take heed, and hearken, O Israel; this day thou art become the people of the LORD thy God.
9Og Moses og de levittiske prester talte til hele Israel og sa: Gi akt og hør, Israel! På denne dag er du blitt Herrens, din Guds folk.
10Thou shalt therefore obey the voice of the LORD thy God, and do his commandments and his statutes, which I command thee this day.
10Så lyd da Herrens, din Guds røst, og hold hans bud og hans lover, som jeg gir dig idag!
11And Moses charged the people the same day, saying,
11Samme dag bød Moses folket og sa:
12These shall stand upon mount Gerizim to bless the people, when ye are come over Jordan; Simeon, and Levi, and Judah, and Issachar, and Joseph, and Benjamin:
12Når I er kommet over Jordan, da skal disse stå på fjellet Garisim og velsigne folket: Simeon og Levi og Juda og Issakar og Josef og Benjamin.
13And these shall stand upon mount Ebal to curse; Reuben, Gad, and Asher, and Zebulun, Dan, and Naphtali.
13Og disse skal stå på fjellet Ebal og lyse forbannelse: Ruben, Gad og Aser og Sebulon, Dan og Naftali.
14And the Levites shall speak, and say unto all the men of Israel with a loud voice,
14Og levittene skal ta til orde og si med høi røst til hver mann i Israel:
15Cursed be the man that maketh any graven or molten image, an abomination unto the LORD, the work of the hands of the craftsman, and putteth it in a secret place. And all the people shall answer and say, Amen.
15Forbannet være den mann som gjør et utskåret eller et støpt billede, en vederstyggelighet for Herren, et verk av en kunstners hender, og stiller det op i lønndom! Og alt folket skal svare og si: Amen.
16Cursed be he that setteth light by his father or his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
16Forbannet være den som ringeakter sin far eller sin mor! Og alt folket skal si: Amen.
17Cursed be he that removeth his neighbor's landmark. And all the people shall say, Amen.
17Forbannet være den som flytter merkestenene mellem sig og sin næste! Og alt folket skal si: Amen.
18Cursed be he that maketh the blind to wander out of the way. And all the people shall say, Amen.
18Forbannet være den som får en blind til å fare vill på veien! Og alt folket skal si: Amen.
19Cursed be he that perverteth the judgment of the stranger, fatherless, and widow. And all the people shall say, Amen.
19Forbannet være den som bøier retten for en fremmed, en farløs og en enke! Og alt folket skal si: Amen.
20Cursed be he that lieth with his father's wife; because he uncovereth his father's skirt. And all the people shall say, Amen.
20Forbannet være den som ligger hos sin fars hustru, for han har vanæret sin fars leie! Og alt folket skal si: Amen.
21Cursed be he that lieth with any manner of beast. And all the people shall say, Amen.
21Forbannet være den som har omgang med noget dyr! Og alt folket skal si: Amen.
22Cursed be he that lieth with his sister, the daughter of his father, or the daughter of his mother. And all the people shall say, Amen.
22Forbannet være den som ligger hos sin søster, sin fars eller sin mors datter! Og alt folket skal si: Amen.
23Cursed be he that lieth with his mother in law. And all the people shall say, Amen.
23Forbannet være den som ligger hos sin hustrus mor! Og alt folket skal si: Amen.
24Cursed be he that smiteth his neighbor secretly. And all the people shall say, Amen.
24Forbannet være den som slår sin næste ihjel i lønndom! Og alt folket skal si: Amen.
25Cursed be he that taketh reward to slay an innocent person. And all the people shall say, Amen.
25Forbannet være den som tar imot gaver for å slå nogen ihjel og utøser uskyldig blod! Og alt folket skal si: Amen.
26Cursed be he that confirmeth not all the words of this law to do them. And all the people shall say, Amen.
26Forbannet være den som ikke holder ordene i denne lov og ikke gjør efter dem! Og alt folket skal si: Amen.
