¹And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

¹Og Herren talte til Moses og sa:

²Speak unto Aaron and say unto him, When thou lightest the lamps, the seven lamps shall give light over against the candlestick.

²Tal til Aron og si til ham: Når du setter lampene op, skal alle syv lamper kaste sitt lys rett frem for lysestaken.

³And Aaron did so; he lighted the lamps thereof over against the candlestick, as the LORD commanded Moses.

³Og Aron gjorde således; han satte lampene op så de kastet sitt lys rett frem for lysestaken, således som Herren hadde befalt Moses.

⁴And this work of the candlestick was of beaten gold, unto the shaft thereof, unto the flowers thereof, was beaten work: according unto the pattern which the LORD had showed Moses, so he made the candlestick.

⁴Lysestaken var gjort av gull i drevet arbeid; både foten og blomstene var drevet arbeid; efter det billede Herren hadde vist Moses, hadde han gjort lysestaken.

⁵And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

⁵Og Herren talte til Moses og sa:

⁶Take the Levites from among the children of Israel, and cleanse them.

⁶Du skal ta levittene ut blandt Israels barn og rense dem!

⁷And thus shalt thou do unto them, to cleanse them: Sprinkle water of purifying upon them, and let them shave all their flesh, and let them wash their clothes, and so make themselves clean.

⁷Og således skal du gjøre med dem for å rense dem: Du skal sprenge renselses-vann på dem, og de skal la rakekniv gå over hele sitt legeme og tvette sine klær og således rense sig.

⁸Then let them take a young bullock with his meat offering, even fine flour mingled with oil, and another young bullock shalt thou take for a sin offering.

⁸Så skal de ta en ung okse og matofferet som hører til, fint mel blandet med olje; og en annen ung okse skal du ta til syndoffer.

⁹And thou shalt bring the Levites before the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt gather the whole assembly of the children of Israel together:

⁹Og du skal la levittene komme frem foran sammenkomstens telt, og du skal samle hele Israels barns menighet.

¹⁰And thou shalt bring the Levites before the LORD: and the children of Israel shall put their hands upon the Levites:

¹⁰Så skal du la levittene trede frem for Herrens åsyn, og Israels barn skal legge sine hender på levittene.

¹¹And Aaron shall offer the Levites before the LORD for an offering of the children of Israel, that they may execute the service of the LORD.

¹¹Og Aron skal innvie levittene for Herrens åsyn som et svinge-offer fra Israels barn, og deres arbeid skal være å utføre Herrens tjeneste.

¹²And the Levites shall lay their hands upon the heads of the bullocks: and thou shalt offer the one for a sin offering, and the other for a burnt offering, unto the LORD, to make an atonement for the Levites.

¹²Så skal levittene legge sine hender på oksenes hoder, og du skal ofre den ene til syndoffer og den andre til brennoffer for Herren for å gjøre soning for levittene.

¹³And thou shalt set the Levites before Aaron, and before his sons, and offer them for an offering unto the LORD.

¹³Og du skal stille levittene frem for Aron og hans sønner, og du skal innvie dem som et svinge-offer for Herren.

¹⁴Thus shalt thou separate the Levites from among the children of Israel: and the Levites shall be mine.

¹⁴Således skal du skille levittene ut blandt Israels barn, og levittene skal høre mig til.

¹⁵And after that shall the Levites go in to do the service of the tabernacle of the congregation: and thou shalt cleanse them, and offer them for an offering.

¹⁵Og derefter skal levittene komme og tjene ved sammenkomstens telt, når du har renset dem og innvidd dem.

¹⁶For they are wholly given unto me from among the children of Israel; instead of such as open every womb, even instead of the firstborn of all the children of Israel, have I taken them unto me.

¹⁶For de er helt overgitt til mig som en gave fra Israels barn; istedenfor alt som åpner morsliv, alle førstefødte blandt Israels barn, har jeg tatt dem ut for mig.

¹⁷For all the firstborn of the children of Israel are mine, both man and beast: on the day that I smote every firstborn in the land of Egypt I sanctified them for myself.

¹⁷For mig hører alt førstefødt til blandt Israels barn, både folk og fe; den dag jeg slo alt førstefødt i Egyptens land, helliget jeg dem for mig.

¹⁸And I have taken the Levites for all the firstborn of the children of Israel.

¹⁸Men nu har jeg tatt levittene i stedet for alle førstefødte blandt Israels barn.

¹⁹And I have given the Levites as a gift to Aaron and to his sons from among the children of Israel, to do the service of the children of Israel in the tabernacle of the congregation, and to make an atonement for the children of Israel: that there be no plague among the children of Israel, when the children of Israel come nigh unto the sanctuary.

¹⁹Jeg tok levittene ut blandt Israels barn og overgav dem helt til Aron og hans sønner, forat de skulde gjøre tjeneste ved sammenkomstens telt for Israels barn og gjøre soning for dem, så Israels barn ikke skal føre ulykke over sig ved å komme nær til helligdommen.

²⁰And Moses, and Aaron, and all the congregation of the children of Israel, did to the Levites according unto all that the LORD commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did the children of Israel unto them.

²⁰Og Moses og Aron og hele Israels barns menighet gjorde således med levittene; aldeles som Herren hadde befalt Moses om levittene, således gjorde Israels barn med dem.

²¹And the Levites were purified, and they washed their clothes; and Aaron offered them as an offering before the LORD; and Aaron made an atonement for them to cleanse them.

²¹Og levittene renset sig og tvettet sine klær, og Aron innvidde dem for Herrens åsyn og gjorde soning for dem, så de blev rene.

²²And after that went the Levites in to do their service in the tabernacle of the congregation before Aaron, and before his sons: as the LORD had commanded Moses concerning the Levites, so did they unto them.

²²Så kom levittene og utførte sin tjeneste ved sammenkomstens telt under tilsyn av Aron og hans sønner; som Herren hadde befalt Moses om levittene, således gjorde de med dem.

²³And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying,

²³Og Herren talte til Moses og sa:

²⁴This is it that belongeth unto the Levites: from twenty and five years old and upward they shall go in to wait upon the service of the tabernacle of the congregation:

²⁴Dette er loven som gjelder for levittene: Fra han er fem og tyve år gammel, skal han komme og gjøre tjeneste med å arbeide ved sammenkomstens telt.

²⁵And from the age of fifty years they shall cease waiting upon the service thereof, and shall serve no more:

²⁵Men fra han er femti år gammel, skal han trede tilbake fra arbeidstjenesten og ikke arbeide mere.

²⁶But shall minister with their brethren in the tabernacle of the congregation, to keep the charge, and shall do no service. Thus shalt thou do unto the Levites touching their charge.

²⁶Dog skal han gå sine brødre til hånde i sammenkomstens telt og ta vare på det som er å vareta; men nogen arbeidstjeneste skal han ikke utføre. Således skal du lage det for levittene med det de har å vareta.
