1And it came to pass in the four hundred and eightieth year after the children of Israel were come out of the land of Egypt, in the fourth year of Solomon's reign over Israel, in the month Zif, which is the second month, that he began to build the house of the LORD.

سلیمان پادشاه چهارصد و هشتاد سال بعد از خروج قوم اسرائیل از مصر و در سال چهارم سلطنت خود، در ماه زیو، یعنی در ماه دوم سال ساختمان معبد بزرگ را آغاز کرد.
2And the house which king Solomon built for the LORD, the length thereof was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof twenty cubits, and the height thereof thirty cubits.

طول معبدی که سلیمان برای خداوند ساخت، بیست و هفت متر، عرض آن نُه متر و ارتفاع آن سیزده متر و نیم بود.
3And the porch before the temple of the house, twenty cubits was the length thereof, according to the breadth of the house; and ten cubits was the breadth thereof before the house.

اتاق ورودی معبد بزرگ پنج متر پهنا و ده متر درازا داشت که معادل طول معبد بزرگ میشد.
4And for the house he made windows of narrow lights.

دیوارهای معبد بزرگ پنجرههایی داشت که از بیرون تنگتر از داخل بودند.
5And against the wall of the house he built chambers round about, against the walls of the house round about, both of the temple and of the oracle: and he made chambers round about:

در کنار دیوار خارجی، در پهلو و پشت معبد بزرگ، ساختمان دیگری، سه طبقه ساخته شد. ارتفاع هر طبقه معادل دو متر و سی سانتیمتر بود.
6The nethermost chamber was five cubits broad, and the middle was six cubits broad, and the third was seven cubits broad: for without in the wall of the house he made narrowed rests round about, that the beams should not be fastened in the walls of the house.

عرض اتاقهای طبقهٔ اول دو متر و سی سانتیمتر، طبقهٔ دوم دو متر و هفتاد سانتیمتر و طبقهٔ سوم سه متر و ده سانتیمتر بود. در پیرامون معبد بزرگ پشتیها ساخت تا تیرها به دیوار آن فرو نروند.
7And the house, when it was in building, was built of stone made ready before it was brought thither: so that there was neither hammer nor axe nor any tool of iron heard in the house, while it was in building.

سنگهای ساختمانِ معبد بزرگ همه در معدن تهیّه و تراشیده شده بودند که در وقت بنای آن صدای چکش و تیشه و دیگر ابزار آهنی شنیده نمیشد.
8The door for the middle chamber was in the right side of the house: and they went up with winding stairs into the middle chamber, and out of the middle into the third.

در ورودی طبقهٔ اول در سمت جنوب معبد بزرگ بود و آنجا با پلّه به طبقهٔ دوم و سوم وصل میشد.
9So he built the house, and finished it; and covered the house with beams and boards of cedar.

سلیمان ساختمان معبد بزرگ را به پایان رساند، سقف آن با تیرها و تختههای چوب سرو پوشانیده شده بود.
10And then he built chambers against all the house, five cubits high: and they rested on the house with timber of cedar.

ساختمان سه طبقهای که در کنار دیوار خارجی معبد بزرگ ساخته شده بود و ارتفاع سقف هر طبقه دو متر و سی سانتیمتر بود که به وسیلهٔ تیرهای سرو به معبد بزرگ وصل میشد.
11And the word of the LORD came to Solomon, saying,

خداوند به سلیمان فرمود:
12Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
12
«اگر از تمام احکام و فرامین من پیروی کنی، آنگاه هرآنچه را که به پدرت داوود وعده داده بودم، برای تو انجام خواهم داد
13And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.
13
و در میان مردمِ خود، یعنی قوم اسرائیل در این معبد بزرگ ساکن خواهم شد و هرگز آنها را ترک نخواهم کرد.»
14So Solomon built the house, and finished it.

پس سلیمان ساختن معبد بزرگ را به پایان رساند.
15And he built the walls of the house within with boards of cedar, both the floor of the house, and the walls of the ceiling: and he covered them on the inside with wood, and covered the floor of the house with planks of fir.

دیوارهای داخلی از کف اتاق تا سقف با چوب سرو پوشیده شده بود و زمین از چوب کاج ساخته شده بود.
16And he built twenty cubits on the sides of the house, both the floor and the walls with boards of cedar: he even built them for it within, even for the oracle, even for the most holy place.

یک اتاق درونی، که مقدّسترین مکان خوانده میشد، در پشت معبد بزرگ ساخته شد. طول آن نُه متر و با تختههای چوب سرو از زمین تا سقف جدا شده بود.
17And the house, that is, the temple before it, was forty cubits long.
17
اتاق جلوی مقدّسترین مکان، هجده متر طول داشت.
18And the cedar of the house within was carved with knops and open flowers: all was cedar; there was no stone seen.

چوبهای سرو به شکل کدوها و گُلهای شکفته حکاکی شده بودند، به طوری که سنگهای دیوارها دیده نمیشدند.
19And the oracle he prepared in the house within, to set there the ark of the covenant of the LORD.

در قسمت پشت معبد بزرگ اتاقی درونی ساخته شد که صندوق پیمان خداوند در آن قرار میگرفت.
20And the oracle in the forepart was twenty cubits in length, and twenty cubits in breadth, and twenty cubits in the height thereof: and he overlaid it with pure gold; and so covered the altar which was of cedar.

این اتاق درونی نُه متر طول، نُه متر عرض و نُه متر ارتفاع داشت و با طلای خالص پوشانده شده بود. قربانگاه از چوب سرو پوشیده بود.
21So Solomon overlaid the house within with pure gold: and he made a partition by the chains of gold before the oracle; and he overlaid it with gold.

داخل معبد بزرگ با طلا پوشانده شده بود و زنجیرهای طلایی را جلوی در ورودی اتاق درونی که آن هم با طلا پوشانده شده بود، قرار دادند.
22And the whole house he overlaid with gold, until he had finished all the house: also the whole altar that was by the oracle he overlaid with gold.

داخل معبد بزرگ همچنین قربانگاه مقدّسترین مکان، تماماً از طلا پوشیده شده بودند.
23And within the oracle he made two cherubim of olive tree, each ten cubits high.

سلیمان دو فرشتهٔ نگهبان از چوب زیتون ساخت و در مقدّسترین مکان قرار داد، ارتفاع هریک چهار و نیم متر بود.
24And five cubits was the one wing of the cherub, and five cubits the other wing of the cherub: from the uttermost part of the one wing unto the uttermost part of the other were ten cubits.

هر دو یک شکل و یک اندازه بودند. طول هر بال دو متر و دو سانتیمتر بود. از نوک یک بال تا نوک بال دیگر آن چهار و نیم متر بود.
25And the other cherub was ten cubits: both the cherubim were of one measure and one size.

آنها را پهلو به پهلو در مقدّسترین مکان قرار داد که بال یکی از آنها به یک دیوار و بال دیگری به دیوار مقابل و دو بال دیگرشان در وسط اتاق با هم تماس داشتند.
26The height of the one cherub was ten cubits, and so was it of the other cherub.

هر دو فرشتهٔ نگهبان با طلا پوشانده شده بودند.
27And he set the cherubim within the inner house: and they stretched forth the wings of the cherubim, so that the wing of the one touched the one wall, and the wing of the other cherub touched the other wall; and their wings touched one another in the midst of the house.

دیوارهای پیرامون هر دو اتاق ورودی را با فرشتگان نگهبان، درختان خرما و گُلهای شکفته حکاکی کرد.
28And he overlaid the cherubim with gold.

حتّی زمین هم با طلا پوشانده شده بود.
29And he carved all the walls of the house round about with carved figures of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, within and without.

برای مقدّسترین مکان در ورودیای از چوب درخت زیتون ساخت که چهارچوب و سردر آن به شکل پنج ضلعی بود.
30And the floors of the house he overlaid with gold, within and without.
30
روی درها شکلهای فرشتگان نگهبان و نخلها با طلا پوشیده شده بود.
31And for the entering of the oracle he made doors of olive tree: the lintel and side posts were a fifth part of the wall.

برای در ورودی چهارچوب مستطیلی از چوب زیتون ساخت.
32The two doors also were of olive tree; and he carved upon them carvings of cherubim and palm trees and open flowers, and overlaid them with gold, and spread gold upon the cherubim, and upon the palm trees.

آنجا دو لنگهٔ درِ تا شو از چوب کاج ساخته شده بود.
33So also made he for the door of the temple posts of olive tree, a fourth part of the wall.

روی آنها فرشتگان نگهبان، درختان خرما و گُلهای کندهکاری شده که با روکش طلا پوشیده شده بود قرار داشت.
34And the two doors were of fir tree: the two leaves of the one door were folding, and the two leaves of the other door were folding.

حیاط داخلی را روبهروی معبد بزرگ ساخت که دیوارهای آن از یک ردیف چوب سرو و سه ردیف سنگ ساخته شده بود.
35And he carved thereon cherubim and palm trees and open flowers: and covered them with gold fitted upon the carved work.

معبد بزرگ در ماه دوم، سال چهارم سلطنت سلیمان پایهگذاری شد.
در سال یازدهم سلطنت سلیمان در ماه بول که ماه هشتم است، ساختمان معبد بزرگ کاملاً مطابق نقشه پایان یافت. معبد بزرگ در مدّت هفت سال ساخته شد.
36And he built the inner court with three rows of hewed stone, and a row of cedar beams.

در سال یازدهم سلطنت سلیمان در ماه بول که ماه هشتم است، ساختمان معبد بزرگ کاملاً مطابق نقشه پایان یافت. معبد بزرگ در مدّت هفت سال ساخته شد.
37In the fourth year was the foundation of the house of the LORD laid, in the month Zif:
38And in the eleventh year, in the month Bul, which is the eighth month, was the house finished throughout all the parts thereof, and according to all the fashion of it. So was he seven years in building it.
