¹And Jehoshaphat his son reigned in his stead, and strengthened himself against Israel.

¹ یهوشافاط به جای پدر خود پادشاه شد. او قوای خود را در مقابل اسرائیل استحکام بخشید.

²And he placed forces in all the fenced cities of Judah, and set garrisons in the land of Judah, and in the cities of Ephraim, which Asa his father had taken.

² او نیروهای خود را در همهٔ شهرهای مستحکم یهودا مستقر کرد و پادگانهایی در سرزمین یهودا و شهرهایی که پدرش آسا در افرایم تصرّف کرده بود، ایجاد نمود.

³And the LORD was with Jehoshaphat, because he walked in the first ways of his father David, and sought not unto Baalim;

³ خداوند به یهوشافاط برکت داد، زیرا او در اوایل در همان راهی که جدش داوود می‌رفت گام برمی‌داشت و بت بعل را نپرستید،

⁴But sought to the Lord God of his father, and walked in his commandments, and not after the doings of Israel.

⁴ بلکه به دنبال خدای اجدادش رفت و فرمانهای او را اطاعت کرد و مثل پادشاهان اسرائیل.

⁵Therefore the LORD stablished the kingdom in his hand; and all Judah brought to Jehoshaphat presents; and he had riches and honor in abundance.

⁵ در نتیجه خداوند پادشاهی را در دستهای او استوار نمود. تمام یهودا برای یهوشافاط هدیه آوردند و او دولتمند و مورد احترام بود.

⁶And his heart was lifted up in the ways of the LORD: moreover he took away the high places and groves out of Judah.

⁶ او با دل و جان به خداوند وفادار بود. او همچنین پرستشگاههای بالای تپّه‌ها و الهه‌های اشره را از یهودا برداشت.

⁷Also in the third year of his reign he sent to his princes, even to Benhail, and to Obadiah, and to Zechariah, and to Nethaneel, and to Michaiah, to teach in the cities of Judah.

⁷ در سال سوم سلطنتش مأموران خود، بنحایل، عوبدیا، زکریا، نتنئیل و میکایا را برای آموزش به شهرهای یهودا فرستاد.

⁸And with them he sent Levites, even Shemaiah, and Nethaniah, and Zebadiah, and Asahel, and Shemiramoth, and Jehonathan, and Adonijah, and Tobijah, and Tobadonijah, Levites; and with them Elishama and Jehoram, priests.

⁸ ایشان با نُه نفر لاوی و دو کاهن همراه بودند. لاویان عبارت بودند از: شمعیا، نتنیا، زبدیا، عسائیل، شمیراموت، یهوناتان، ادونیا، طوبیا، توب ادونیا. نامهای کاهنان الیشمع و یهورام بودند.

⁹And they taught in Judah, and had the book of the law of the LORD with them, and went about throughout all the cities of Judah, and taught the people.

⁹ آنها از روی کتاب تورات خداوند که با خود داشتند، به همهٔ شهرهای یهودا رفتند و به مردم تعلیم می‌دادند.

¹⁰And the fear of the LORD fell upon all the kingdoms of the lands that were round about Judah, so that they made no war against Jehoshaphat.

¹⁰ ترس خداوند تمام سلطنت‌های کشورهای اطراف یهودا را فراگرفت و از جنگ با یهوشافاط خودداری کردند.

¹¹Also some of the Philistines brought Jehoshaphat presents, and tribute silver; and the Arabians brought him flocks, seven thousand and seven hundred rams, and seven thousand and seven hundred he goats.

¹¹ حتّی بعضی از فلسطینیان برای یهوشافاط هدیه و نقره به عنوان باج می‌آوردند و عرب‌ها هم برای او هفت هزار و هفتصد قوچ و هفت هزار و هفتصد بُز نر هدیه آوردند.

¹²And Jehoshaphat waxed great exceedingly; and he built in Judah castles, and cities of store.

¹² قدرت و شهرت یهوشافاط روزافزون بود. و در یهودا قلعه‌ها و شهرها برای ذخیره و انبار ساخت.

¹³And he had much business in the cities of Judah: and the men of war, mighty men of valor, were in Jerusalem.

¹³ او در شهرهای یهودا کارهای بزرگی انجام داد. او سربازان توانای جنگجویی در اورشلیم داشت.

¹⁴And these are the numbers of them according to the house of their fathers: Of Judah, the captains of thousands; Adnah the chief, and with him mighty men of valor three hundred thousand.

¹⁴ این است نامهای ایشان طبق نیاکانشان: از یهودا فرمانده گروههای هزار نفری: ادُنه با سیصد هزار رزمنده نیرومند.

¹⁵And next to him was Jehohanan the captain, and with him two hundred and fourscore thousand.

¹⁵ بعد از او یهوحانان، فرمانده دویست و هشتاد هزار نفر،

¹⁶And next him was Amasiah the son of Zichri, who willingly offered himself unto the LORD; and with him two hundred thousand mighty men of valor.

¹⁶ پس از او عمسیا، پسر زکری که برای خدمت به خداوند داوطلب شده بود، فرمانده دویست هزار نفر،

¹⁷And of Benjamin; Eliada a mighty man of valor, and with him armed men with bow and shield two hundred thousand.

¹⁷ از بنیامین، الیاداع، رزمنده‌ای نیرومند، با دویست هزار نفر مسلّح به کمان و سپر.

¹⁸And next him was Jehozabad, and with him an hundred and fourscore thousand ready prepared for the war.

¹⁸ در کنارش یهوزاباد با صد و هشتاد هزار نفر آماده جنگ. ایشان در خدمت پادشاه بودند، به‌علاوهٔ کسانی‌که پادشاه در شهرهای مستحکم در سراسر یهودا مستقر کرده بود.

¹⁹These waited on the king, beside those whom the king put in the fenced cities throughout all Judah.

¹⁹ ایشان در خدمت پادشاه بودند، به‌علاوهٔ کسانی‌که پادشاه در شهرهای مستحکم در سراسر یهودا مستقر کرده بود.
