¹And Jehoshaphat the king of Judah returned to his house in peace to Jerusalem.

¹ یهوشافاط پادشاه اسرائیل بسلامتی به کاخ خود در اورشلیم بازگشت.

²And Jehu the son of Hanani the seer went out to meet him, and said to king Jehoshaphat, Shouldest thou help the ungodly, and love them that hate the LORD? therefore is wrath upon thee from before the LORD.

² ییهوی رائی، پسر حنانی برای ملاقات او رفت و به یهوشافاط پادشاه گفت: «آیا باید پلیدان را یاری دهی و کسانی‌که از خداوند نفرت دارند دوست بداری؟ به همین سبب خشم خداوند بر تو فرود خواهد آمد.

³Nevertheless there are good things found in thee, in that thou hast taken away the groves out of the land, and hast prepared thine heart to seek God.

³ با این وجود، نیکویی در تو یافت می‌شود، تو الهه‌های اشره را در این سرزمین نابود ساختی و دلت درپی خداست.»

⁴And Jehoshaphat dwelt at Jerusalem: and he went out again through the people from Beersheba to mount Ephraim, and brought them back unto the LORD God of their fathers.

⁴ یهوشافاط در اورشلیم ساکن شد، آنگاه دوباره از بئرشبع تا کوهپایه‌های افرایم در میان مردم رفت و ایشان را به سوی خداوند، خدای نیاکانشان بازآورد.

⁵And he set judges in the land throughout all the fenced cities of Judah, city by city,

⁵ او در همهٔ شهرهای مستحکم یهودا داوران گماشت

⁶And said to the judges, Take heed what ye do: for ye judge not for man, but for the LORD, who is with you in the judgment.

⁶ و به داوران گفت: «مواظب باشید که چه‌کار می‌کنید، زیرا شما از جانب انسان قضاوت نمی‌کنید، بلکه از جانب خداوند. او در داوریهای شما با شما خواهد بود.

⁷Wherefore now let the fear of the LORD be upon you; take heed and do it: for there is no iniquity with the LORD our God, nor respect of persons, nor taking of gifts.

⁷ اکنون بگذارید ترس خداوند بر شما باشد، در کاری که می‌کنید دقّت داشته باشید، زیرا در داوری خداوند خدای ما، جایی برای بی‌عدالتی و طرفداری و رشوه‌خواری نیست.»

⁸Moreover in Jerusalem did Jehoshaphat set of the Levites, and of the priests, and of the chief of the fathers of Israel, for the judgment of the LORD, and for controversies, when they returned to Jerusalem.

⁸ همچنین یهوشافاط در اورشلیم گروه خاصی از لاویان، کاهنان و سران قوم اسرائیل را برگزید تا برای خداوند داوری کنند و به حل اختلافات بپردازند، تخت داوری ایشان در اورشلیم بود.

⁹And he charged them, saying, Thus shall ye do in the fear of the LORD, faithfully, and with a perfect heart.

⁹ او به ایشان چنین امر کرد: «شما باید چنین عمل کنید: با خداترسی و وفاداری و با تمام دل خدمت کنید.

¹⁰And what cause soever shall come to you of your brethren that dwell in your cities, between blood and blood, between law and commandment, statutes and judgments, ye shall even warn them that they trespass not against the LORD, and so wrath come upon you, and upon your brethren: this do, and ye shall not trespass.

¹⁰ هنگامی‌که پرونده‌ای از هموطنان شما که در شهرهای خود زندگی می‌کنند، به شما رجوع شود و آن پرونده در مورد قتل، قوانین یا فرامین باشد، شما باید چنان ایشان را راهنمایی کنید تا در برابر خداوند مرتکب گناه نشوید و خشم خداوند بر شما و ایشان افروخته شود. چنین کنید تا مرتکب گناه نشوید. اَمَریا، کاهن اعظم، در همهٔ امور خداوند شما را سرپرستی می‌کند و همچنین زبدیا، پسر اسماعیل، فرماندار یهودا سرپرست همهٔ امور پادشاه است و لاویان در نقش افسران به شما خدمت می‌کنند. با شجاعت خدمت کنید و خداوند با نیکان باشد.»

¹¹And, behold, Amariah the chief priest is over you in all matters of the LORD; and Zebadiah the son of Ishmael, the ruler of the house of Judah, for all the king's matters: also the Levites shall be officers before you. Deal courageously, and the LORD shall be with the good.

¹¹ اَمَریا، کاهن اعظم، در همهٔ امور خداوند شما را سرپرستی می‌کند و همچنین زبدیا، پسر اسماعیل، فرماندار یهودا سرپرست همهٔ امور پادشاه است و لاویان در نقش افسران به شما خدمت می‌کنند. با شجاعت خدمت کنید و خداوند با نیکان باشد.»
