¹And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon, she came to prove Solomon with hard questions at Jerusalem, with a very great company, and camels that bare spices, and gold in abundance, and precious stones: and when she was come to Solomon, she communed with him of all that was in her heart.

¹ ملکهٔ سبا از شهرت سلیمان پادشاه باخبر شد و به اورشلیم سفر کرد تا او را با پرسش‌های دشوار بیازماید. ملکهٔ سبا گروه بزرگی از همراهان و کاروانی از شتران که بار آنها ادویه، جواهرات و مقدار زیادی طلا بود به همراه آورد. هنگامی‌که او با سلیمان ملاقات کرد، هر سؤالی که در اندیشه داشت، از او پرسید.

²And Solomon told her all her questions: and there was nothing hid from Solomon which he told her not.

² سلیمان به همهٔ پرسش‌های او پاسخ داد، هیچ سؤالی نبود که برای سلیمان سخت باشد و نتواند برای او توضیح دهد.

³And when the queen of Sheba had seen the wisdom of Solomon, and the house that he had built,

³ هنگامی‌که ملکهٔ سبا، حکمت سلیمان و کاخی را که او ساخته بود،

⁴And the meat of his table, and the sitting of his servants, and the attendance of his ministers, and their apparel; his cupbearers also, and their apparel; and his ascent by which he went up into the house of the LORD; there was no more spirit in her.

⁴ و خوراکی که در سفره او بود و محل زندگی مقامات و سازمان کارکنان کاخ و جامهٔ آنها و لباس خدمتکارانی که در جشن بودند و قربانی‌هایی که او در معبد بزرگ تقدیم می‌کرد، دید شگفت‌زده شد.

⁵And she said to the king, It was a true report which I heard in mine own land of thine acts, and of thy wisdom:

⁵ پس او به پادشاه گفت: «گزارشی که در سرزمین خود دربارهٔ پیروزیها و حکمت شما شنیدم حقیقت دارد،

⁶Howbeit I believed not their words, until I came, and mine eyes had seen it: and, behold, the one half of the greatness of thy wisdom was not told me: for thou exceedest the fame that I heard.

⁶ امّا من، گزارش را تا هنگامی‌که به اینجا آمدم و با چشمان خود دیدم باور نداشتم، من حتّی نیمی از حکمت عظیم شما را نشنیده بودم. شما بمراتب از آنچه مردم می‌گویند برتر هستید.

⁷Happy are thy men, and happy are these thy servants, which stand continually before thee, and hear thy wisdom.

⁷ خوشا به حال مردم شما! خوشا به حال خدمتکارانتان که دایماً شما را خدمت می‌کنند و سخنان خردمندانه شما را می‌شنوند!

⁸Blessed be the LORD thy God, which delighted in thee to set thee on his throne, to be king for the LORD thy God: because thy God loved Israel, to establish them for ever, therefore made he thee king over them, to do judgment and justice.

⁸ سپاس بر خداوند، خدای تو، که نشان داده است که چقدر از تو خشنود است. تو را پادشاه کرد که در نام او حکومت کنی، زیرا او قوم خود اسرائیل را دوست دارد و می‌خواهد برای همیشه پایدار نگاه دارد. او تو را پادشاه کرد تا قانون و عدالت را برقرار سازی.»

⁹And she gave the king an hundred and twenty talents of gold, and of spices great abundance, and precious stones: neither was there any such spice as the queen of Sheba gave king Solomon.

⁹ او هدایایی را که آورده بود، به سلیمان پادشاه تقدیم کرد. حدود چهار تُن طلا و مقدار زیادی ادویه و جواهرات. هرگز چنین ادویه خوبی که ملکهٔ سبا به سلیمان پادشاه داد دیده نشده بود.

¹⁰And the servants also of Huram, and the servants of Solomon, which brought gold from Ophir, brought algum trees and precious stones.

¹⁰ (افراد حیرام و سلیمان پادشاه از اوفیر طلا و همچنین چوب صندل و جواهرات نیز آورده بودند.

¹¹And the king made of the algum trees terraces to the house of the LORD, and to the king's palace, and harps and psalteries for singers: and there were none such seen before in the land of Judah.

¹¹ سلیمان از چوب برای ساختن پلّه‌ها برای معبد بزرگ و کاخ خود و ساختن بربط و چنگ برای نوازندگان استفاده کرد که همانند آنان هرگز در سرزمین یهودا دیده نشده بود.)

¹²And king Solomon gave to the queen of Sheba all her desire, whatsoever she asked, beside that which she had brought unto the king. So she turned, and went away to her own land, she and her servants.

¹² سلیمان پادشاه هرآنچه ملکهٔ سبا خواسته بود به او داد، به اضافهٔ هدایایی که سلیمان با سخاوتمندی به او بخشید. آنگاه ملکهٔ سبا و همراهانش به سرزمین خود بازگشتند.

¹³Now the weight of gold that came to Solomon in one year was six hundred and threescore and six talents of gold;

¹³ هر سال سلیمان پادشاه بیش از بیست و سه تُن طلا دریافت می‌کرد،

¹⁴Beside that which chapmen and merchants brought. And all the kings of Arabia and governors of the country brought gold and silver to Solomon.

¹⁴ به اضافهٔ آنچه بازرگانان و تاجران به عنوان مالیات می‌دادند، پادشاهان عرب و فرمانروایان اسرائیل نیز طلا و نقره برای او می‌آوردند.

¹⁵And king Solomon made two hundred targets of beaten gold: six hundred shekels of beaten gold went to one target.

¹⁵ سلیمان پادشاه دویست سپر بزرگ ساخت. هریک از آنها را با تقریباً هفت کیلو طلا روکش کرد،

¹⁶And three hundred shields made he of beaten gold: three hundred shekels of gold went to one shield. And the king put them in the house of the forest of Lebanon.

¹⁶ و سیصد سپر کوچكتر که هر کدام با تقریباً دو کیلو طلا روکش شده بودند. او همهٔ سپرها را در تالار جنگل لبنان قرار داد.

¹⁷Moreover the king made a great throne of ivory, and overlaid it with pure gold.

¹⁷ پادشاه همچنین تخت بزرگی از عاج ساخت که با طلای ناب پوشانده شده بود.

¹⁸And there were six steps to the throne, with a footstool of gold, which were fastened to the throne, and stays on each side of the sitting place, and two lions standing by the stays:

¹⁸ این تخت شش پلّه داشت و یک زیرپایی که به آن وصل بود و با طلا روکش شده بود. در دو طرف تخت دو دسته بود و در هر طرف تخت مجسمهٔ شیر قرار داشت.

¹⁹And twelve lions stood there on the one side and on the other upon the six steps. There was not the like made in any kingdom.

¹⁹ دوازده مجسمهٔ شیر روی پلّه‌ها بودند، در هر طرفِ هر پلّه یک شیر. چنین تختی هرگز در هیچ پادشاهی دیگری ساخته نشده بود.

²⁰And all the drinking vessels of king Solomon were of gold, and all the vessels of the house of the forest of Lebanon were of pure gold: none were of silver; it was not any thing accounted of in the days of Solomon.

²⁰ ظروف نوشیدنی پادشاه و همچنین ظروف تالار جنگل لبنان همه از طلای خالص ساخته شده بودند. در دوران سلطنت سلیمان نقره ارزشی نداشت،

²¹For the king's ships went to Tarshish with the servants of Huram: every three years once came the ships of Tarshish bringing gold, and silver, ivory, and apes, and peacocks.

²¹ زیرا کشتی‌های پادشاه هر سه سال یک مرتبه با دریانوردان حیرام به ترشیش می‌رفتند و طلا، نقره، عاج، میمون و طاووس می‌آوردند.

²²And king Solomon passed all the kings of the earth in riches and wisdom.

²² سلیمان پادشاه، ثروتمندتر و خردمندتر از همهٔ پادشاهان جهان بود.

²³And all the kings of the earth sought the presence of Solomon, to hear his wisdom, that God had put in his heart.

²³ همهٔ پادشاهان جهان به حضور سلیمان می‌آمدند تا حکمتی را که خدا در دل او نهاده بود، بشنوند.

²⁴And they brought every man his present, vessels of silver, and vessels of gold, and raiment, harness, and spices, horses, and mules, a rate year by year.

²⁴ هریک از ایشان هر سال هدایایی می‌آورد. وسایلی از نقره و طلا، جامه‌ها، اسلحه‌ها، ادویه، اسب و قاطر.

²⁵And Solomon had four thousand stalls for horses and chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen; whom he bestowed in the chariot cities, and with the king at Jerusalem.

²⁵ سلیمان چهارهزار طویله برای اسبها و ارّابه‌ها و دوازده هزار اسب داشت. او برخی را در اورشلیم نگاه می‌داشت و بقیّهٔ را در شهرهای دیگر.

²⁶And he reigned over all the kings from the river even unto the land of the Philistines, and to the border of Egypt.

²⁶ او بر همهٔ شاهان فرمانروایی کرد، از فرات تا سرزمین فلسطین و تا مرز مصر.

²⁷And the king made silver in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar trees made he as the sycamore trees that are in the low plains in abundance.

²⁷ پادشاه نقره را در اورشلیم مانند سنگ فراوان کرد و چوب سرو مانند چنار کوهپایه‌های یهودا فراوان بود.

²⁸And they brought unto Solomon horses out of Egypt, and out of all lands.

²⁸ اسبها را برای سلیمان از مصر واز سایر سرزمینهای دیگر وارد می‌کردند.

²⁹Now the rest of the acts of Solomon, first and last, are they not written in the book of Nathan the prophet, and in the prophecy of Ahijah the Shilonite, and in the visions of Iddo the seer against Jeroboam the son of Nebat?

²⁹ دنباله رویدادهای سلیمان، از ابتدا تا پایان در کتاب تاریخ ناتان نبی و در نبوّت اخیای شیلونی و در رؤیای عدوی رائی که دربارهٔ یربعام پسر نباط است، نوشته شده است.

³⁰And Solomon reigned in Jerusalem over all Israel forty years.

³⁰ سلیمان بر اورشلیم و تمامی اسرائیل به مدّت چهل سال حکومت کرد. سلیمان درگذشت و در شهر داوود به خاک سپرده شد و پسرش رحبعام به جای او پادشاه شد.

³¹And Solomon slept with his fathers, and he was buried in the city of David his father: and Rehoboam his son reigned in his stead.

³¹ سلیمان درگذشت و در شهر داوود به خاک سپرده شد و پسرش رحبعام به جای او پادشاه شد.
