¹In the third year of Cyrus king of Persia a thing was revealed unto Daniel, whose name was called Belteshazzar; and the thing was true, but the time appointed was long: and he understood the thing, and had understanding of the vision.

¹ در سال سوم شاهنشاهی کوروش، شاهنشاه پارس، دانیال که بلطشصر هم نامیده می‌شد، رؤیای دیگری دید و تعبیر آن به او آشکار شد. این رؤیا درباره یک جنگ بزرگ بود که در آینده رخ می‌داد.

²In those days I Daniel was mourning three full weeks.

² من، دانیال، وقتی این رؤیا را دیدم، سه هفته ماتم گرفتم.

³I ate no pleasant bread, neither came flesh nor wine in my mouth, neither did I anoint myself at all, till three whole weeks were fulfilled.

³ در این مدّت نه غذای کافی خوردم و نه لب به گوشت و شراب زدم و نه موی خود را شانه کردم.

⁴And in the four and twentieth day of the first month, as I was by the side of the great river, which is Hiddekel;

⁴ در روز بیست و چهارم ماه اول سال، در کنار رود بزرگ دجله ایستاده بودم.

⁵Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz:

⁵ وقتی به بالا نگاه کردم، ناگهان کسی را دیدم که لباس سفید کتانی پوشیده و کمربندی از طلای ناب به کمر بسته بود.

⁶His body also was like the beryl, and his face as the appearance of lightning, and his eyes as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.

⁶ بدن او مثل جواهر می‌درخشید، رویش برق می‌زد و چشمانش همچون شعله‌های آتش بودند و بازوها و پاهایش مانند برنز صیقلی شده و صدایش شبیه همهمهٔ گروه بی‌شماری از مردم بود.

⁷And I Daniel alone saw the vision: for the men that were with me saw not the vision; but a great quaking fell upon them, so that they fled to hide themselves.

⁷ از آن عدّه‌ای که در آنجا ایستاده بودیم، تنها من آن رؤیا را دیدم. همراهان من آن‌قدر ترسیدند که پا به فرار گذاشتند و خود را پنهان کردند.

⁸Therefore I was left alone, and saw this great vision, and there remained no strength in me: for my comeliness was turned in me into corruption, and I retained no strength.

⁸ من تنها ماندم و به آن رؤیای عجیب می‌نگریستم. رنگم پریده بود و تاب و توان نداشتم.

⁹Yet heard I the voice of his words: and when I heard the voice of his words, then was I in a deep sleep on my face, and my face toward the ground.

⁹ وقتی آن مرد با من سخن گفت، رو به خاک افتادم و بیهوش شدم.

¹⁰And, behold, an hand touched me, which set me upon my knees and upon the palms of my hands.

¹⁰ امّا دستی مرا لمس نمود و مرا که دستها و پاهایم می‌لرزیدند، از جا بلند کرد.

¹¹And he said unto me, O Daniel, a man greatly beloved, understand the words that I speak unto thee, and stand upright: for unto thee am I now sent. And when he had spoken this word unto me, I stood trembling.

¹¹ فرشته به من گفت: «ای دانیال، ای مرد بسیار عزیز خدا، برخیز و به آنچه که می‌خواهم به تو بگویم با دقّت گوش بده! زیرا برای همین امر پیش تو فرستاده شده‌ام.» آنگاه درحالی‌که هنوز می‌لرزیدم بر پا ایستادم.

¹²Then said he unto me, Fear not, Daniel: for from the first day that thou didst set thine heart to understand, and to chasten thyself before thy God, thy words were heard, and I am come for thy words.

¹² سپس به من گفت: «ای دانیال، نترس! زیرا از همان روز اول که در حضور خدای خود روزه گرفتی و از او خواستی که به تو دانش و فهم بدهد، درخواست تو قبول شد و خدا همان روز مرا پیش تو فرستاد.

¹³But the prince of the kingdom of Persia withstood me one and twenty days: but, lo, Michael, one of the chief princes, came to help me; and I remained there with the kings of Persia.

¹³ امّا فرشته‌ای که بر کشور پارس حکمرانی می‌کند، بیست و یک روز با من مقاومت نمود و مانع آمدن من شد. سرانجام میکائیل، که یکی از فرشتگان اعظم خداست، به کمک من آمد.

¹⁴Now I am come to make thee understand what shall befall thy people in the latter days: for yet the vision is for many days.

¹⁴ من توانستم به اینجا بیایم و به تو بگویم که در آینده برای قوم تو چه حادثه‌ای رخ می‌دهد، زیرا این رؤیا را که دیدی مربوط به آینده است.»

¹⁵And when he had spoken such words unto me, I set my face toward the ground, and I became dumb.

¹⁵ در تمام این مدّت سرم را به زیر انداخته و گنگ بودم.

¹⁶And, behold, one like the similitude of the sons of men touched my lips: then I opened my mouth, and spake, and said unto him that stood before me, O my lord, by the vision my sorrows are turned upon me, and I have retained no strength.

¹⁶ آنگاه آن فرشته که شبیه انسان بود، لبهایم را لمس کرد تا بتوانم حرف بزنم. من به او گفتم: «ای آقای من، این رؤیا آن‌قدر مرا ترسانده است که دیگر تاب و توان در من نمانده است.

¹⁷For how can the servant of this my lord talk with this my lord? for as for me, straightway there remained no strength in me, neither is there breath left in me.

¹⁷ پس چگونه می‌توانم با تو حرف بزنم؟ قوّت من تمام شده است و به سختی نفس می‌کشم.»

¹⁸Then there came again and touched me one like the appearance of a man, and he strengthened me,

¹⁸ او دوباره مرا لمس کرد و من قوّت یافتم.

¹⁹And said, O man greatly beloved, fear not: peace be unto thee, be strong, yea, be strong. And when he had spoken unto me, I was strengthened, and said, Let my lord speak; for thou hast strengthened me.

¹⁹ او گفت: «ای مرد بسیار عزیز خدا، نترس و نگران نباش!» وقتی این را گفت، قوّت یافتم و به او گفتم: «ای آقای من، حالا حرف بزن زیرا تو به من نیرو بخشیدی.» او گفت: «می‌دانی چرا پیش تو آمده‌ام؟ من آمده‌ام تا بگویم که در کتاب حقیقت چه نوشته شده است. وقتی از پیش تو بازگردم، به جنگ فرشته‌ای که بر کشور پارس حکومت می‌کند می‌روم. سپس با فرشته‌ای که بر یونان حکومت می‌کند، خواهم جنگید. در این جنگها تنها میکائیل، نگهبان قوم اسرائیل، به من کمک خواهد نمود.»

²⁰Then said he, Knowest thou wherefore I come unto thee? and now will I return to fight with the prince of Persia: and when I am gone forth, lo, the prince of Grecia shall come.

²⁰ او گفت: «می‌دانی چرا پیش تو آمده‌ام؟ من آمده‌ام تا بگویم که در کتاب حقیقت چه نوشته شده است. وقتی از پیش تو بازگردم، به جنگ فرشته‌ای که بر کشور پارس حکومت می‌کند می‌روم. سپس با فرشته‌ای که بر یونان حکومت می‌کند، خواهم جنگید. در این جنگها تنها میکائیل، نگهبان قوم اسرائیل، به من کمک خواهد نمود.»

²¹But I will shew thee that which is noted in the scripture of truth: and there is none that holdeth with me in these things, but Michael your prince.
