¹Nebuchadnezzar the king made an image of gold, whose height was threescore cubits, and the breadth thereof six cubits: he set it up in the plain of Dura, in the province of Babylon.

¹ نبوکدنصر پادشاه، یک مجسمهٔ طلایی ساخت که ارتفاع آن بیست و هفت‌ متر و پهنای آن حدود سه متر بود. او آن مجسمه را در دشت دورا در استان بابل نصب کرد.

²Then Nebuchadnezzar the king sent to gather together the princes, the governors, and the captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, to come to the dedication of the image which Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

² سپس پادشاه فرمان داد تا همهٔ شاهزادگان، فرمانداران، فرماندهان، مشاوران، وکلا، خزانه‌داران و تمام بزرگان هر استان برای مراسم تخصیص مجسمه‌ای که نبوکدنصر پادشاه نصب کرده بود جمع شوند.

³Then the princes, the governors, and captains, the judges, the treasurers, the counsellors, the sheriffs, and all the rulers of the provinces, were gathered together unto the dedication of the image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up; and they stood before the image that Nebuchadnezzar had set up.

³ وقتی همهٔ این بزرگان دور هم جمع شدند و برای مراسم تخصیص در مقابل مجسمه ایستادند،

⁴Then an herald cried aloud, To you it is commanded, O people, nations, and languages,

⁴ جارچی با صدای بلند اعلام کرد: «ای مردم، شما از هر ملّت، قبیله و زبان به این فرمان گوش کنید.

⁵That at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king hath set up:

⁵ وقتی صدای شیپور و سرنا و عود و سنتور و هر نوع آلات موسیقی را شنیدید باید در مقابل مجسمهٔ طلایی که نبوکدنصر پادشاه نصب کرده است، به خاک افتاده و آن را سجده و پرستش کنید.

⁶And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth shall the same hour be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

⁶ و هرکسی که این‌کار را نکند، فوراً در کورهٔ آتش انداخته خواهد شد.»

⁷Therefore at that time, when all the people heard the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and all kinds of musick, all the people, the nations, and the languages, fell down and worshipped the golden image that Nebuchadnezzar the king had set up.

⁷ پس همهٔ مردم، از هر ملّت، قبیله و زبان، وقتی نوای موسیقی را شنیدند در مقابل مجسمهٔ طلایی که نبوکدنصر پادشاه نصب کرده بود، به خاک افتادند و آن را سجده و پرستش نمودند.

⁸Wherefore at that time certain Chaldeans came near, and accused the Jews.

⁸ بعضی از بابلی‌ها از این فرصت استفاده کرده، علیه یهودیان شکایت نمودند.

⁹They spake and said to the king Nebuchadnezzar, O king, live for ever.

⁹ آنها به پادشاه خود، یعنی نبوکدنصر گفتند: «عمر پادشاه جاودان باد!

¹⁰Thou, O king, hast made a decree, that every man that shall hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, shall fall down and worship the golden image:

¹⁰ شما فرمان دادید همین که سازها به صدا درآید، همهٔ مردم در مقابل مجسمهٔ طلایی به خاک افتاده و آن را سجده و پرستش نمایند

¹¹And whoso falleth not down and worshippeth, that he should be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace.

¹¹ و هرکسی که به خاک نیفتد و مجسمه را سجده و پرستش نکند در کورهٔ آتش انداخته شود.

¹²There are certain Jews whom thou hast set over the affairs of the province of Babylon, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego; these men, O king, have not regarded thee: they serve not thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

¹² چند نفر یهودی هستند که شما آنها را به حکومت بابل منصوب کرده‌اید؛ یعنی شدرک، میشک و عبدنغو. ای پادشاه، آنها فرمان شما را اطاعت نکرده، خدایان شما را عبادت نمی‌کنند و در مقابل مجسمهٔ طلایی که به فرمان شما نصب شده، سجده و پرستش نمی‌نمایند.»

¹³Then Nebuchadnezzar in his rage and fury commanded to bring Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego. Then they brought these men before the king.

¹³ پادشاه خشمگین شد و دستور داد تا شدرک، میشک و عبدنغو را به حضور او آوردند.

¹⁴Nebuchadnezzar spake and said unto them, Is it true, O Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, do not ye serve my gods, nor worship the golden image which I have set up?

¹⁴ آن وقت به ایشان گفت: «ای شدرک، میشک و عبدنغو، آیا این درست است که شما خدایان مرا عبادت نمی‌کنید و در مقابل مجسمهٔ طلایی که من نصب کرده‌ام سجده و پرستش نمی‌نمایید؟

¹⁵Now if ye be ready that at what time ye hear the sound of the cornet, flute, harp, sackbut, psaltery, and dulcimer, and all kinds of musick, ye fall down and worship the image which I have made; well: but if ye worship not, ye shall be cast the same hour into the midst of a burning fiery furnace; and who is that God that shall deliver you out of my hands?

¹⁵ پس حالا همین که صدای شیپور، سرنا، عود، سنتور، چنگ و سایر آلات موسیقی را شنیدید، در مقابل مجسمهٔ طلایی به خاک افتاده و آن را سجده و پرستش کنید در غیر این صورت فوراً به کورهٔ آتش انداخته خواهید شد. فکر می‌کنید کدام خدایی است که بتواند شما را از دست من نجات بدهد؟»

¹⁶Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, answered and said to the king, O Nebuchadnezzar, we are not careful to answer thee in this matter.

¹⁶ شدرک، میشک و عبدنغو در جواب گفتند: «پادشاها، ما از خود دفاع نمی‌کنیم.

¹⁷If it be so, our God whom we serve is able to deliver us from the burning fiery furnace, and he will deliver us out of thine hand, O king.

¹⁷ امّا خدایی که ما او را پرستش می‌کنیم، قادر است که ما را از کورهٔ آتش و از دست تو نجات دهد که نجات هم خواهد داد.

¹⁸But if not, be it known unto thee, O king, that we will not serve thy gods, nor worship the golden image which thou hast set up.

¹⁸ امّا اگر او هم ما را نجات ندهد، ای پادشاه بدان که ما خدای تو را پرستش نخواهیم کرد و در مقابل مجسمهٔ طلایی‌که تو نصب کرده‌ای، سجده نخواهیم نمود.»

¹⁹Then was Nebuchadnezzar full of fury, and the form of his visage was changed against Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego: therefore he spake, and commanded that they should heat the furnace one seven times more than it was wont to be heated.

¹⁹ نبوکدنصر، بر شدرک، میشک و عبدنغو بسیار خشمگین شد به طوری که رنگ صورتش از شدّت خشم قرمز شد. پس دستور داد، آتش کوره را هفت برابر بیشتر از معمول شعله‌ور کنند

²⁰And he commanded the most mighty men that were in his army to bind Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, and to cast them into the burning fiery furnace.

²⁰ و به قویترین سرداران لشکر خود دستور داد تا این سه نفر را محکم ببندند و در میان شعله‌های آتش بیندازند.

²¹Then these men were bound in their coats, their hosen, and their hats, and their other garments, and were cast into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

²¹ به ‌این ترتیب آن سه نفر را در ردا، پیراهن و دستارهایشان محکم بستند و در وسط شعله‌های آتش انداختند.

²²Therefore because the king's commandment was urgent, and the furnace exceeding hot, the flames of the fire slew those men that took up Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego.

²² چون پادشاه دستور داده بود که کوره را بشدّت گرم و شعله‌ور سازند، شعله‌های آتش کسانی را که شدرک، میشک و عبدنغو را به وسط آتش انداخته بودند سوزانید و کُشت.

²³And these three men, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, fell down bound into the midst of the burning fiery furnace.

²³ امّا آن سه نفر درحالی‌که محکم بسته شده بودند، همچنان در وسط آتش زنده ماندند.

²⁴Then Nebuchadnezzar the king was astonied, and rose up in haste, and spake, and said unto his counsellors, Did not we cast three men bound into the midst of the fire? They answered and said unto the king, True, O king.

²⁴ ناگهان نبوکدنصر با تعجّب و شتاب از جای خود برخاست و از مشاورانش پرسید: «مگر ما سه نفر را نبستیم و در وسط آتش نیانداختیم؟» آنها جواب دادند: «بله قربان، همین‌طور است.»

²⁵He answered and said, Lo, I see four men loose, walking in the midst of the fire, and they have no hurt; and the form of the fourth is like the Son of God.

²⁵ پادشاه گفت: «پس چرا من حال چهار نفر می‌بینم که در میان آتش قدم می‌زنند و آسیبی هم به آنها نرسیده است و نفر چهارم شبیه پسر خدایان است.»

²⁶Then Nebuchadnezzar came near to the mouth of the burning fiery furnace, and spake, and said, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, ye servants of the most high God, come forth, and come hither. Then Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, came forth of the midst of the fire.

²⁶ پس نبوکدنصر به نزدیک دهانهٔ کورهٔ آتش رفت و با صدای بلندی گفت: «ای شدرک، میشک و عبدنغو، ای بندگان خدای متعال بیرون بیایید!» آنها از میان آتش بیرون آمدند.

²⁷And the princes, governors, and captains, and the king's counsellors, being gathered together, saw these men, upon whose bodies the fire had no power, nor was an hair of their head singed, neither were their coats changed, nor the smell of fire had passed on them.

²⁷ تمام شاهزادگان، فرمانداران، وزیران، سرداران و همهٔ درباریان جمع شدند و آن سه نفر را دیدند که آتش به آنها آسیبی نرسانیده، مویی هم از سر آنها نسوخته، لباسهایشان آتش نگرفته بود و حتّی بوی آتش و سوختگی هم از آنها نمی‌آمد.

²⁸Then Nebuchadnezzar spake, and said, Blessed be the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, who hath sent his angel, and delivered his servants that trusted in him, and have changed the king's word, and yielded their bodies, that they might not serve nor worship any god, except their own God.

²⁸ نبوکدنصر پادشاه گفت: «سپاس بر خدای شدرک، میشک و عبدنغو! او فرشتهٔ خود را فرستاد تا این مردانی که او را خدمت می‌کنند و به او توکّل دارند و از فرمان من سرپیچی کردند و جان خود را به خطر انداختند تا در مقابل خدای دیگری جز خدای خودشان سجده نکنند، نجات دهد.

²⁹Therefore I make a decree, That every people, nation, and language, which speak any thing amiss against the God of Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, shall be cut in pieces, and their houses shall be made a dunghill: because there is no other God that can deliver after this sort.

²⁹ «حال این فرمان من است، اگر کسی از هر قوم و هر ملّت و هر زبان، سخنی برضد خدای شدرک، میشک و عبدنغو بر زبان آورد، او را تکه‌تکه کنند و خانه‌اش را به ویرانه‌ای تبدیل نمایند. زیرا خدای دیگری نیست که بتواند به این شکل نجات بخشد.» آنگاه پادشاه، شدرک، میشک و عبدنغو را به مقامهای بالاتری در استان بابل منصوب کرد.

³⁰Then the king promoted Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego, in the province of Babylon.
