¹The burden of Babylon, which Isaiah the son of Amoz did see.

¹ این پیامی است که اشعیا پسر آموص، دربارهٔ بابل از خدا دریافت کرد:

²Lift ye up a banner upon the high mountain, exalt the voice unto them, shake the hand, that they may go into the gates of the nobles.

² پرچم جنگ را بر فراز تپّه‌ای بایر برافرازید! فریاد برآورید، اسلحهٔ خود را در دست بگیرید تا این برای سربازان نشانهٔ شروع حمله به دروازه‌های شهر مغرور باشند.

³I have commanded my sanctified ones, I have also called my mighty ones for mine anger, even them that rejoice in my highness.

³ خداوند، سربازان دلیر و مورد اعتماد خود را خواهد خواند تا برای جهاد مقدّسی بجنگند و کسانی را که موجب خشم او شده‌اند، مجازات کند.

⁴The noise of a multitude in the mountains, like as of a great people; a tumultuous noise of the kingdoms of nations gathered together: the LORD of hosts mustereth the host of the battle.

⁴ به فریادهایی که در کوهستان‌ها بلند است، به صدای مردمی که ازدحام کرده‌اند و صدای ممالکی که جمع شده‌اند، گوش دهید. خداوند متعال سربازان خود را برای جنگ آماده می‌سازد.

⁵They come from a far country, from the end of heaven, even the LORD, and the weapons of his indignation, to destroy the whole land.

⁵ آنها از دورترین کشورهای جهان به اینجا می‌آیند. خدا به خشم می‌آید. تمام کشور را ویران می‌سازد.

⁶Howl ye; for the day of the LORD is at hand; it shall come as a destruction from the Almighty.

⁶ از درد ناله کنید! روز خداوند -‌روزی که خداوند متعال ویرانی می‌آورد- نزدیک است.

⁷Therefore shall all hands be faint, and every man's heart shall melt:

⁷ دستهای همه بی‌رمق و شهامتشان از بین می‌رود.

⁸And they shall be afraid: pangs and sorrows shall take hold of them; they shall be in pain as a woman that travaileth: they shall be amazed one at another; their faces shall be as flames.

⁸ آنها همه با ترس و درد -‌دردی مثل درد زنی در حال زایمان- مغلوب خواهند شد. آنها به یکدیگر نگاه می‌کنند و صورتهایشان از خجالت سرخ خواهد بود.

⁹Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, cruel both with wrath and fierce anger, to lay the land desolate: and he shall destroy the sinners thereof out of it.

⁹ روز خداوند -‌آن روز سخت و روز خشم و غضب او- فرا می‌رسد. زمین به بیابان تبدیل خواهد شد و گناهکاران از بین خواهند رفت

¹⁰For the stars of heaven and the constellations thereof shall not give their light: the sun shall be darkened in his going forth, and the moon shall not cause her light to shine.

¹⁰ ستارگان و افلاک، دیگر بر زمین نخواهند تابید. خورشید در وقت طلوع، تاریک و ماه نوری نخواهد داد.

¹¹And I will punish the world for their evil, and the wicked for their iniquity; and I will cause the arrogancy of the proud to cease, and will lay low the haughtiness of the terrible.

¹¹ خداوند می‌گوید: «من بلایی بر زمین نازل می‌کنم و تمام مردمان شریر را به‌خاطر گناهانشان مجازات خواهم کرد. من مغروران را حقیر و متکبّران و ظالمان را تنبیه خواهم کرد.

¹²I will make a man more precious than fine gold; even a man than the golden wedge of Ophir.

¹² تعداد بازماندگان از طلای خالص کمیاب‌تر خواهد بود.

¹³Therefore I will shake the heavens, and the earth shall remove out of her place, in the wrath of the LORD of hosts, and in the day of his fierce anger.

¹³ روزی که من -‌خداوند متعال- خشم خود را نشان دهم، آسمانها به لرزه می‌افتند و زمین از مدار خود خارج خواهد شد.

¹⁴And it shall be as the chased roe, and as a sheep that no man taketh up: they shall every man turn to his own people, and flee every one into his own land.

¹⁴ «بیگانگانی که در بابل زندگی می‌کنند، به سرزمینهای خود خواهند گریخت. مثل آهویی از دست شکارچیان فرار می‌کنند، یا مثل گوسفند بدون ‌شبان هر کدام به سویی پراکنده خواهند شد.

¹⁵Every one that is found shall be thrust through; and every one that is joined unto them shall fall by the sword.

¹⁵ هرکس که گرفته شود، با خنجر کشته خواهد شد.

¹⁶Their children also shall be dashed to pieces before their eyes; their houses shall be spoiled, and their wives ravished.

¹⁶ وقتی آنها با درماندگی نگاه می‌کنند، در برابر چشمانشان اطفال آنها تا پای مرگ مورد ظلم و ستم قرار می‌گیرند. خانه‌هایشان غارت، و به زنانشان تجاوز می‌شود.»

¹⁷Behold, I will stir up the Medes against them, which shall not regard silver; and as for gold, they shall not delight in it.

¹⁷ خداوند می‌گوید: «من دولت ماد را برمی‌انگیزم تا به بابل حمله کند. آنها برای نقره اهمیّتی قایل نیستند و طلا آنها را وسوسه نمی‌کند.

¹⁸Their bows also shall dash the young men to pieces; and they shall have no pity on the fruit of the womb; their eyes shall not spare children.

¹⁸ با تیر و کمان خود، مردان جوان را می‌کشند. آنها نه به نوزادان رحم می‌کنند و نه به کودکان.

¹⁹And Babylon, the glory of kingdoms, the beauty of the Chaldees' excellency, shall be as when God overthrew Sodom and Gomorrah.

¹⁹ بابل از زیباترین کشورهاست و مردمش به آن افتخار می‌کنند. ولی من -‌خداوند- همان‌طور که سدوم و غموره را از بین بردم، بابل را از بین خواهم برد.

²⁰It shall never be inhabited, neither shall it be dwelt in from generation to generation: neither shall the Arabian pitch tent there; neither shall the shepherds make their fold there.

²⁰ دیگر کسی در آن زندگی نخواهد کرد. هیچ عرب چادرنشینی در آنجا چادر نخواهد زد و هیچ شبانی گوسفندان برای چریدن به آنجا نخواهد برد.

²¹But wild beasts of the desert shall lie there; and their houses shall be full of doleful creatures; and owls shall dwell there, and satyrs shall dance there.

²¹ فقط حیوانات وحشی در آنجا زندگی خواهند کرد و جغدها در آنجا آشیانه خواهند داشت. شترمرغها در آن زندگی خواهند کرد و بُزهای وحشی در ویرانه‌های آن خواهند ‌خرامید. در بُرجها و کاخهای آن، زوزهٔ کفتارها و شغالها طنین‌انداز خواهد بود. زمان بابل به آخر رسیده، و روزهایش تقریباً تمام شده است.»

²²And the wild beasts of the islands shall cry in their desolate houses, and dragons in their pleasant palaces: and her time is near to come, and her days shall not be prolonged.

²² در بُرجها و کاخهای آن، زوزهٔ کفتارها و شغالها طنین‌انداز خواهد بود. زمان بابل به آخر رسیده، و روزهایش تقریباً تمام شده است.»
