¹Send ye the lamb to the ruler of the land from Sela to the wilderness, unto the mount of the daughter of Zion.

¹ مردم موآب از شهر سالع برّه‌ای به عنوان هدیه برای حاکم اورشلیم می‌فرستند.

²For it shall be, that, as a wandering bird cast out of the nest, so the daughters of Moab shall be at the fords of Arnon.

² آنها در سواحل وادی ارنون بی‌هدف جلو و عقب می‌روند و مانند پرندگانی که از لانه‌هایشان رانده شده باشند، سرگردان هستند.

³Take counsel, execute judgment; make thy shadow as the night in the midst of the noonday; hide the outcasts; bewray not him that wandereth.

³ آنها به مردم یهودا می‌گویند: «به ما بگویید که چه کنیم. مثل درختی که با سایهٔ خود گرمای نیم روز را خنک می‌کند، از ما حمایت کنید تا ما در زیر سایهٔ شما راحت باشیم. ما به این جا پناه آورده‌ایم، ما آواره هستیم، ما را جایی مخفی کنید تا کسی نتواند ما را پیدا کند.

⁴Let mine outcasts dwell with thee, Moab; be thou a covert to them from the face of the spoiler: for the extortioner is at an end, the spoiler ceaseth, the oppressors are consumed out of the land.

⁴ اجازه بدهید در سرزمین شما بمانیم، از ما در مقابل کسانی‌که می‌خواهند ما را از بین ببرند حمایت کنید.» خرابی و ظلم و ستم به پایان می‌رسد و آنها که سرزمینها را ویران می‌کنند، از بین خواهند رفت.

⁵And in mercy shall the throne be established: and he shall sit upon it in truth in the tabernacle of David, judging, and seeking judgment, and hasting righteousness.

⁵ در آن زمان یک نفر از خاندان داوود به پادشاهی خواهد رسید که با وفاداری و محبّت بر مردم حکومت خواهد کرد. او در انجام کارهای راست و درست تأخیر نمی‌کند و عدالت اجرا می‌شود.

⁶We have heard of the pride of Moab; he is very proud: even of his haughtiness, and his pride, and his wrath: but his lies shall not be so.

⁶ مردم یهودا می‌گویند: «ما شنیده‌ایم که چقدر مردم موآب مغرور هستند. ما می‌دانیم که آنها مغرور و خودخواه هستند و لاف زدنهایشان توخالی است.»

⁷Therefore shall Moab howl for Moab, every one shall howl: for the foundations of Kirhareseth shall ye mourn; surely they are stricken.

⁷ مردم موآب به‌خاطر زحماتی که تحمّل کردند، گریه می‌کنند. آنها وقتی به یاد می‌آورند چه غذاهای خوبی در شهر قیرحارس می‌خوردند، همه به گریه می‌افتند و امیدشان را از دست می‌دهند.

⁸For the fields of Heshbon languish, and the vine of Sibmah: the lords of the heathen have broken down the principal plants thereof, they are come even unto Jazer, they wandered through the wilderness: her branches are stretched out, they are gone over the sea.

⁸ مزارع حشبون و تاکستانهای سبمه که شراب آنها فرمانروایان ملّتهای دیگر را سرمست می‌کرد، همه خراب شده‌اند. زمانی تاکهای آن از یک طرف تا یعزیز، از شرق تا کویر، و از غرب تا به آن سوی دریای مرده پخش شده بودند.

⁹Therefore I will bewail with the weeping of Jazer the vine of Sibmah: I will water thee with my tears, O Heshbon, and Elealeh: for the shouting for thy summer fruits and for thy harvest is fallen.

⁹ من اکنون برای تاکهای سمبه و برای یعزیر می‌گریم. اشکهای من برای حشبون و برای العاله است، چون دیگر فصل برداشت محصول نخواهد بود که مردم را خوشحال کند.

¹⁰And gladness is taken away, and joy out of the plentiful field; and in the vineyards there shall be no singing, neither shall there be shouting: the treaders shall tread out no wine in their presses; I have made their vintage shouting to cease.

¹⁰ اکنون دیگر کسی در این مزارعِ حاصلخیز نیست. دیگر کسی در این تاکستانها نمی‌خواند و آواز شادمانی سر نمی‌دهد. دیگر کسی انگورها را برای شراب له نمی‌کند و آوازهای شادی دیگر به گوش نمی‌رسد.

¹¹Wherefore my bowels shall sound like an harp for Moab, and mine inward parts for Kirharesh.

¹¹ از غم برای موآب و با غصّه برای قیرخارس می‌نالم.

¹²And it shall come to pass, when it is seen that Moab is weary on the high place, that he shall come to his sanctuary to pray; but he shall not prevail.

¹² مردم موآب با رفتن به پرستشگاههای خود در بالای کوهها و عبادت در آنها خود را خسته می‌کنند ولی از آن فایده‌ای نمی‌برند.

¹³This is the word that the LORD hath spoken concerning Moab since that time.

¹³ این پیامی بود که خداوند قبلاً دربارهٔ موآب داده بود. اکنون خداوند می‌گوید: «دقیقاً در مدّت سه سال، ثروت عظیم موآب از بین خواهد رفت. از جمعیّت زیاد آن، تعداد کمی زنده می‌مانند و آنها ناتوان خواهند بود.»

¹⁴But now the LORD hath spoken, saying, Within three years, as the years of an hireling, and the glory of Moab shall be contemned, with all that great multitude; and the remnant shall be very small and feeble.

¹⁴ اکنون خداوند می‌گوید: «دقیقاً در مدّت سه سال، ثروت عظیم موآب از بین خواهد رفت. از جمعیّت زیاد آن، تعداد کمی زنده می‌مانند و آنها ناتوان خواهند بود.»
