¹The burden of Egypt. Behold, the LORD rideth upon a swift cloud, and shall come into Egypt: and the idols of Egypt shall be moved at his presence, and the heart of Egypt shall melt in the midst of it.

¹ این است پیامی دربارهٔ مصر: خداوند سوار بر ابرها با شتاب به سوی مصر می‌آید. بُتهای مصر در برابرش می‌لرزند و مردم آنجا شهامت خود را از دست داده‌اند.

²And I will set the Egyptians against the Egyptians: and they shall fight every one against his brother, and every one against his neighbour; city against city, and kingdom against kingdom.

² خداوند می‌گوید: «من در مصر یک جنگ داخلی ایجاد می‌کنم و برادر را بر برادر و همسایه را بر همسایهٔ خود خواهم برانگیخت. شهرهای رقیب با یکدیگر می‌جنگند و پادشاهان رقیب برای کسب قدرت مبارزه می‌کنند.

³And the spirit of Egypt shall fail in the midst thereof; and I will destroy the counsel thereof: and they shall seek to the idols, and to the charmers, and to them that have familiar spirits, and to the wizards.

³ من نقشه‌های مصری‌ها را خنثی و روحیهٔ آنها را تضعیف خواهم کرد. آنها از بُتهایشان کمک می‌خواهند و طالب راهنمایی و نصیحت از جادوگران و ارواح مردگان خواهند بود.

⁴And the Egyptians will I give over into the hand of a cruel lord; and a fierce king shall rule over them, saith the Lord, the LORD of hosts.

⁴ من مصری‌ها را تسلیم پادشاهی زورگو و ظالم می‌کنم و او بر آنها حکومت خواهد کرد. من، خداوند متعال، چنین گفته‌ام.»

⁵And the waters shall fail from the sea, and the river shall be wasted and dried up.

⁵ سطح آب رود نیل پایین می‌رود و آن رود به تدریج خشک خواهد شد.

⁶And they shall turn the rivers far away; and the brooks of defence shall be emptied and dried up: the reeds and flags shall wither.

⁶ نهرهای اطراف رود متعفّن و رو به خشک شدن هستند و بوته‌های نی و بوریای آن پژمرده خواهند شد،

⁷The paper reeds by the brooks, by the mouth of the brooks, and every thing sown by the brooks, shall wither, be driven away, and be no more.

⁷ و تمام محصولاتی که در امتداد سواحل نیل کاشته شده، خشک و با باد به هوا پراکنده خواهند شد.

⁸The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brooks shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.

⁸ ماهیگیران ناله و گریه می‌کنند، چون قلّابها و تورهای آنها بی‌فایده خواهند بود.

⁹Moreover they that work in fine flax, and they that weave networks, shall be confounded.

⁹ نساجان پارچه‌های نخی، ناامید

¹⁰And they shall be broken in the purposes thereof, all that make sluices and ponds for fish.

¹⁰ و بافندگان و کارکنان ماهر دل‌شکسته و افسرده خواهند شد.

¹¹Surely the princes of Zoan are fools, the counsel of the wise counsellors of Pharaoh is become brutish: how say ye unto Pharaoh, I am the son of the wise, the son of ancient kings?

¹¹ رهبران شهر صوعن احمقند! داناترین مردان مصری، نصیحت احمقانه می‌دهند، چطور جرأت می‌کنند به فرعون بگویند که آنها فرزندان حکما و پادشاهان پیشین هستند؟

¹²Where are they? where are thy wise men? and let them tell thee now, and let them know what the LORD of hosts hath purposed upon Egypt.

¹² ای فرعون کجا هستند مشاوران باهوش تو؟ شاید آنها بتوانند به تو بگویند ارادهٔ خداوند متعال برای مصر چیست.

¹³The princes of Zoan are become fools, the princes of Noph are deceived; they have also seduced Egypt, even they that are the stay of the tribes thereof.

¹³ رهبران صوعن و سروران ممفیس ابله هستند. آنها می‌بایست ملّت را هدایت می‌کردند، امّا باعث گمراهی آنها شدند.

¹⁴The LORD hath mingled a perverse spirit in the midst thereof: and they have caused Egypt to err in every work thereof, as a drunken man staggereth in his vomit.

¹⁴ خداوند باعث شد آنها مشورتهای گیج کننده‌ای بدهند. در نتیجه، مصر هرچه می‌کند اشتباه است و مثل مستی است که روی استفراغ خود افتاده باشد.

¹⁵Neither shall there be any work for Egypt, which the head or tail, branch or rush, may do.

¹⁵ هیچ‌کس در مصر نمی‌تواند کمکی کند. نه غنی و نه فقیر، نه آدم مهم و نه آدم گمنام.

¹⁶In that day shall Egypt be like unto women: and it shall be afraid and fear because of the shaking of the hand of the LORD of hosts, which he shaketh over it.

¹⁶ زمانی می‌آید که مردم مصر مثل زنان ترسو خواهند شد. وقتی ببینند که خداوند متعال دست خود را برای مجازات آنها بلند کرده است، آنها از ترس بر خود خواهند لرزید.

¹⁷And the land of Judah shall be a terror unto Egypt, every one that maketh mention thereof shall be afraid in himself, because of the counsel of the LORD of hosts, which he hath determined against it.

¹⁷ مردم مصر هر وقت به یاد آورند که خداوند متعال چه سرنوشتی نصیب آنها کرده از ترس یهودا در وحشت خواهند بود.

¹⁸In that day shall five cities in the land of Egypt speak the language of Canaan, and swear to the LORD of hosts; one shall be called, The city of destruction.

¹⁸ وقتی آن زمان برسد، مردم پنج شهر مصر به زبان عبری سخن خواهند گفت. مردم در آنجا به نام خداوند متعال سوگند یاد خواهند کرد. یکی از شهرهای آن به نام «شهرِ خورشید» نامیده خواهد شد.

¹⁹In that day shall there be an altar to the LORD in the midst of the land of Egypt, and a pillar at the border thereof to the LORD.

¹⁹ وقتی آن روز برسد، قربانگاهی برای خداوند در سرزمین مصر وجود خواهد داشت، و یک ستون سنگی به نام او در مرز آن کشور اختصاص داده خواهد شد.

²⁰And it shall be for a sign and for a witness unto the LORD of hosts in the land of Egypt: for they shall cry unto the LORD because of the oppressors, and he shall send them a saviour, and a great one, and he shall deliver them.

²⁰ آنها نشانه‌هایی از حضور خداوند متعال در مصر خواهند بود، وقتی مردم آنجا زیر ستم هستند و برای کمک به درگاه خداوند فریاد برمی‌آورند، خداوند کسی را برای رهایی آنها خواهد فرستاد.

²¹And the LORD shall be known to Egypt, and the Egyptians shall know the LORD in that day, and shall do sacrifice and oblation; yea, they shall vow a vow unto the LORD, and perform it.

²¹ خداوند، خود را به مردمان مصر آشکار خواهد ساخت، و آن وقت آنها او را خواهند ‌شناخت و پرستش خواهند کرد، قربانی‌ها و هدایای زیاد تقدیمش می‌کنند. آنها به طور جدّی نذر می‌کنند و به نذر خود وفا می‌کنند.

²²And the LORD shall smite Egypt: he shall smite and heal it: and they shall return even to the LORD, and he shall be intreated of them, and shall heal them.

²² خداوند مردم مصر را مجازات می‌کند ولی بعد آنها را شفا خواهد داد. آنها به سوی او برمی‌گردند و او دعای ایشان را می‌شنود و آنها را شفا خواهد داد.

²³In that day shall there be a highway out of Egypt to Assyria, and the Assyrian shall come into Egypt, and the Egyptian into Assyria, and the Egyptians shall serve with the Assyrians.

²³ وقتی آن زمان فرا رسد، شاهراهی بین مصر و آشور به وجود خواهد آمد. مردمان این دو کشور با هم رفت و آمد خواهند داشت و این دو ملّت با هم عبادت خواهند کرد.

²⁴In that day shall Israel be the third with Egypt and with Assyria, even a blessing in the midst of the land:

²⁴ وقتی آن زمان برسد، اسرائیل با مصر و آشور برابر خواهد گشت و این سه ملّت باعث برکت جهان خواهند شد. خداوند متعال آنها را برکت می‌دهد و خواهد گفت: «ای مصر، ای قوم من؛ و تو ای آشور که تو را آفریده‌ام، و تو اسرائیل قوم برگزیده من، من همهٔ شما را برکت می‌دهم.»

²⁵Whom the LORD of hosts shall bless, saying, Blessed be Egypt my people, and Assyria the work of my hands, and Israel mine inheritance.

²⁵ خداوند متعال آنها را برکت می‌دهد و خواهد گفت: «ای مصر، ای قوم من؛ و تو ای آشور که تو را آفریده‌ام، و تو اسرائیل قوم برگزیده من، من همهٔ شما را برکت می‌دهم.»
