¹In that day shall this song be sung in the land of Judah; We have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks.

¹ روزی می‌آید که مردم یهودا این سرود را خواهند سرایید: شهر ما مستحکم است! خدا خودش از دیوارهای آن دفاع می‌کند.

²Open ye the gates, that the righteous nation which keepeth the truth may enter in.

² دروازه‌های شهر را باز کنید و بگذارید قوم وفادار مؤمن وارد شوند، قومی که هرچه می‌کنند راست و درست است.

³Thou wilt keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on thee: because he trusteth in thee.

³ ای خداوند، صلح و آرامش کامل به آنهایی که در اندیشه‌های خود راسخ‌اند و به تو توکّل دارند، عطا فرما.

⁴Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

⁴ توکّل شما تا ابد بر خداوند باشد، او همیشه حامی شما خواهد بود.

⁵For he bringeth down them that dwell on high; the lofty city, he layeth it low; he layeth it low, even to the ground; he bringeth it even to the dust.

⁵ او کسانی را که متکبّر بودند حقیر نموده، او شهرهایی را که ‌آنها در آن زندگی می‌کردند، ویران نمود و دیوارهای آن را با خاک یکسان نمود.

⁶The foot shall tread it down, even the feet of the poor, and the steps of the needy.

⁶ آنها که مورد ظلم و ستم بودند اکنون در آن، رفت و آمد نموده و آن را زیر پای خود لگدمال می‌کنند.

⁷The way of the just is uprightness: thou, most upright, dost weigh the path of the just.

⁷ ای خداوند، تو راه را جلوی پای نیکوکاران صاف می‌کنی و جاده‌ای که در آن سفر می‌کنند، هموار می‌سازی.

⁸Yea, in the way of thy judgments, O LORD, have we waited for thee; the desire of our soul is to thy name, and to the remembrance of thee.

⁸ ما از ارادهٔ تو پیروی می‌کنیم و امیدمان به توست؛ و خواسته‌ای جز تو نداریم.

⁹With my soul have I desired thee in the night; yea, with my spirit within me will I seek thee early: for when thy judgments are in the earth, the inhabitants of the world will learn righteousness.

⁹ در شب با تمام وجودم مشتاق تو هستم. وقتی تو تمام دنیا و مردم آن را داوری کنی، آن وقت آنها می‌آموزند که عدالت چیست.

¹⁰Let favour be shewed to the wicked, yet will he not learn righteousness: in the land of uprightness will he deal unjustly, and will not behold the majesty of the LORD.

¹⁰ گرچه تو حتّی در مورد شریرانی که هیچ‌وقت نیکی و راستی را نمی‌آموزند، مهربان هستی. آنها حتّی در اینجا -‌در شهر نیکان- مرتکب شرارت می‌شوند و به بزرگی تو توجّهی ندارند.

¹¹LORD, when thy hand is lifted up, they will not see: but they shall see, and be ashamed for their envy at the people; yea, the fire of thine enemies shall devour them.

¹¹ دشمنان تو نمی‌دانند که تو آنها را مجازات خواهی کرد. ای خداوند آنها را شرمنده کن و بگذار به جزایشان برسند، بگذار به مجازاتی که برایشان در نظر داری برسند. به آنها نشان بده، چقدر قوم خود را دوست داری.

¹²LORD, thou wilt ordain peace for us: for thou also hast wrought all our works in us.

¹² ای خداوند، تو ما را سعادت و برکت خواهی داد. تمام موفقیّت‌های ما را تو امکان‌پذیر ساختی.

¹³O LORD our God, other lords beside thee have had dominion over us: but by thee only will we make mention of thy name.

¹³ ای خداوند خدای ما، دیگران بر ما حکومت کرده‌اند، در حالی‌که تو تنها خداوند ما هستی.

¹⁴They are dead, they shall not live; they are deceased, they shall not rise: therefore hast thou visited and destroyed them, and made all their memory to perish.

¹⁴ اکنون آنها همگی مرده‌اند و دیگر زنده نخواهند شد، ارواح آنها بلند نمی‌شود، چون تو آنها را مجازات کرده‌ای و درهم شکسته‌ای. دیگر کسی از آنها یاد نمی‌کند.

¹⁵Thou hast increased the nation, O LORD, thou hast increased the nation: thou art glorified: thou hadst removed it far unto all the ends of the earth.

¹⁵ ای خداوند، تو باعث رشد ملّت ما بوده‌ای، و سرزمین ما را از هر سو وسعت داده‌ای و به این وسیله تو جلال یافته‌ای.

¹⁶LORD, in trouble have they visited thee, they poured out a prayer when thy chastening was upon them.

¹⁶ ای خداوند تو قوم خود را مجازات کردی و آنها در حالت پریشانی به حضور تو دعا کردند.

¹⁷Like as a woman with child, that draweth near the time of her delivery, is in pain, and crieth out in her pangs; so have we been in thy sight, O LORD.

¹⁷ تو، ای خداوند، ما را مجبور کردی، مثل زنِ در حال زایمان، از درد فریاد برآوریم.

¹⁸We have been with child, we have been in pain, we have as it were brought forth wind; we have not wrought any deliverance in the earth; neither have the inhabitants of the world fallen.

¹⁸ ما در درد و رنج بودیم، ولی چیزی به دنیا نیاوردیم پیروزی‌ای برای کشورمان نصیب ما نشد، و توفیقی نداشته‌ایم.

¹⁹Thy dead men shall live, together with my dead body shall they arise. Awake and sing, ye that dwell in dust: for thy dew is as the dew of herbs, and the earth shall cast out the dead.

¹⁹ کسانی‌که از قوم ما مرده‌اند دوباره زنده خواهند شد، و بدنهای بی‌جان آنها جان تازه خواهند یافت. تمام آنها که در قبرهای خود خوابیده‌اند بیدار شده و با شادی خواهند سرایید. همان‌طور که شبنم‌های درخشان، زمین را شاداب می‌کند، همان‌طور خداوند امید تازه‌ای به‌ آنها که سالهای پیش مرده‌اند، خواهد داد.

²⁰Come, my people, enter thou into thy chambers, and shut thy doors about thee: hide thyself as it were for a little moment, until the indignation be overpast.

²⁰ ای قوم من، به خانه‌های خود بروید و درها را پشت سر خود ببندید. خود را برای زمانی کوتاه پنهان کنید تا خشم خدا فروکش کند. خداوند از جایگاه آسمانی خود می‌‌آید تا مردم دنیا را به‌خاطر گناهانشان مجازات کند. قتلهایی که به طور مخفی روی زمین مرتکب شده بودند، آشکار خواهد شد و زمین دیگر کشته‌شدگان را پنهان نخواهد کرد.

²¹For, behold, the LORD cometh out of his place to punish the inhabitants of the earth for their iniquity: the earth also shall disclose her blood, and shall no more cover her slain.

²¹ خداوند از جایگاه آسمانی خود می‌‌آید تا مردم دنیا را به‌خاطر گناهانشان مجازات کند. قتلهایی که به طور مخفی روی زمین مرتکب شده بودند، آشکار خواهد شد و زمین دیگر کشته‌شدگان را پنهان نخواهد کرد.
