¹Thus saith the LORD; Go down to the house of the king of Judah, and speak there this word,

¹ خداوند به من گفت به کاخ پادشاه یهودا که از خاندان داوود است بروم و به پادشاه، درباریانش و به مردم اورشلیم که در آنجا هستند بگویم که به آنچه خداوند می‌گوید گوش دهند. این است آنچه خداوند می‌گوید:

²And say, Hear the word of the LORD, O king of Judah, that sittest upon the throne of David, thou, and thy servants, and thy people that enter in by these gates:

² «من، خداوند به شما دستور می‌دهم از روی عدالت و راستی رفتار کنید. فریب خورده را از دست فریبکار برهانید. با غریبان، یتیم‌ها و بیوه‌ زنان بدرفتاری و ظلم نکنید و بی‌گناهان را در این مکان مقدّس نکشید.

³Thus saith the LORD; Execute ye judgment and righteousness, and deliver the spoiled out of the hand of the oppressor: and do no wrong, do no violence to the stranger, the fatherless, nor the widow, neither shed innocent blood in this place.

³ اگر آنچه را که به شما دستور می‌دهم، واقعاً بجا آورید در آن صورت خاندان داوود به سلطنت ادامه می‌دهد و آنها به اتّفاق درباریان و مردم عادی به رفت و آمد با ارّابه‌‌ها و اسبان خود از دروازه‌های این کاخ ادامه خواهند داد.

⁴For if ye do this thing indeed, then shall there enter in by the gates of this house kings sitting upon the throne of David, riding in chariots and on horses, he, and his servants, and his people.

⁴ امّا اگر از دستورات من اطاعت نکنید، در برابر شما سوگند یاد می‌کنم که این کاخ به ویرانه‌ای تبدیل خواهد شد. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌‌ام.

⁵But if ye will not hear these words, I swear by myself, saith the LORD, that this house shall become a desolation.

⁵ «از نظر من کاخ سلطنتی یهودا همان اندازه زیباست که سرزمین جلعاد و کوههای لبنان زیبا هستند، امّا من آن را به ویرانه‌ای تبدیل می‌کنم که هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند در آن زندگی کند.

⁶For thus saith the LORD unto the king's house of Judah; Thou art Gilead unto me, and the head of Lebanon: yet surely I will make thee a wilderness, and cities which are not inhabited.

⁶ من کسانی برای ویران کردن آن می‌فرستم. آنها با تبرهای خود می‌آیند و ستونهای زیبای سرو آزاد اینجا را خرد می‌کنند و در آتش خواهند سوزانید.

⁷And I will prepare destroyers against thee, every one with his weapons: and they shall cut down thy choice cedars, and cast them into the fire.

⁷ «بعدها بسیاری از ملّتهای دیگر که از اینجا عبور می‌کنند از یکدیگر خواهند پرسید، چرا خداوند این شهر بزرگ را به این صورت درآورد.

⁸And many nations shall pass by this city, and they shall say every man to his neighbour, Wherefore hath the LORD done thus unto this great city?

⁸ آنگاه آنها در جواب خواهند گفت که به‌خاطر این است که شما پیمان خودتان را با خدای خودتان شکستید و سایر خدایان را پرستش و خدمت کردید.»

⁹Then they shall answer, Because they have forsaken the covenant of the LORD their God, and worshipped other gods, and served them.

⁹ ای مردم یهودا، به‌خاطر مرگ یوشیای پادشاه گریه نکنید و ماتم نگیرید. امّا برای پسرش یوحاز سخت بگریید؛ او را خواهند برد و هرگز برنخواهد گشت و دیگر سرزمینی را که در آن به دنیا آمده است، نخواهد دید.

¹⁰Weep ye not for the dead, neither bemoan him: but weep sore for him that goeth away: for he shall return no more, nor see his native country.

¹⁰ خداوند دربارهٔ یوحاز، پسر یوشیا که بعد از پدرش پادشاه یهودا شد، چنین می‌گوید: «او از اینجا رفته و دیگر برنخواهد گشت.

¹¹For thus saith the LORD touching Shallum the son of Josiah king of Judah, which reigned instead of Josiah his father, which went forth out of this place; He shall not return thither any more:

¹¹ او در کشوری که او را به اسارت برده‌اند، خواهد مرد، و او دیگر به این سرزمین برنمی‌گردد.»

¹²But he shall die in the place whither they have led him captive, and shall see this land no more.

¹² وای بر کسی که خانهٔ خود را با بی‌انصافی می‌سازد و با ناراستی آن را گسترش می‌دهد، از مردم خود بیگاری می‌کشد و مزد آنها را نمی‌دهد.

¹³Woe unto him that buildeth his house by unrighteousness, and his chambers by wrong; that useth his neighbour's service without wages, and giveth him not for his work;

¹³ وای بر کسی که می‌گوید: «برای خود کاخی با اتاقهای بزرگ در طبقهٔ بالا خواهم ساخت.» پس او پنجره‌هایی بر خانهٔ خود نصب می‌کند، دیوار‌هایی از چوب سرو آزاد برایش می‌سازد و آن را با رنگ قرمز رنگ می‌زند.

¹⁴That saith, I will build me a wide house and large chambers, and cutteth him out windows; and it is cieled with cedar, and painted with vermilion.

¹⁴ آیا با ساختن خانه‌هایی از چوب سرو آزاد که از خانه‌های دیگران زیباتر باشد، تو را پادشاهی بهتر خواهد کرد؟ پدر تو همیشه عادل و با انصاف بود و از این رو، عمری طولانی کرد و در همهٔ امور موفّق بود.

¹⁵Shalt thou reign, because thou closest thyself in cedar? did not thy father eat and drink, and do judgment and justice, and then it was well with him?

¹⁵ او از روی عدالت نسبت به فقیران قضاوت می‌کرد و در همه‌چیز کامیاب بود. این است مفهوم خداشناسی.

¹⁶He judged the cause of the poor and needy; then it was well with him: was not this to know me? saith the LORD.

¹⁶ امّا تو فقط در اندیشهٔ منافع شخصی خودت می‌باشی، تو با خشونت، بی‌گناهان را می‌کشی و به مردم ظلم می‌کنی. خداوند چنین گفته است.

¹⁷But thine eyes and thine heart are not but for thy covetousness, and for to shed innocent blood, and for oppression, and for violence, to do it.

¹⁷ آنگاه خداوند درباره یهویاقیم پادشاه یهودا -‌پسر یوشیا- می‌گوید، «هیچ‌کس به‌خاطر مرگش ماتم نمی‌گیرد و نخواهد گفت، چه ضایعهٔ بزرگی! ای دوست چه وحشتناک است!» هیچ‌کس برای او گریه نخواهد کرد و نخواهد گفت، وای سرورم! ای پادشاه من!

¹⁸Therefore thus saith the LORD concerning Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah; They shall not lament for him, saying, Ah my brother! or, Ah sister! they shall not lament for him, saying, Ah lord! or, Ah his glory!

¹⁸ مراسم تشییع جنازهٔ تو مثل مرگ الاغی خواهد بود که لاشهٔ آن را کشان‌کشان می‌برند و در خارج از دروازه‌های شهر اورشلیم، دور می‌اندازند.

¹⁹He shall be buried with the burial of an ass, drawn and cast forth beyond the gates of Jerusalem.

¹⁹ ای مردم اورشلیم به لبنان بروید و از آنجا فریاد بزنید، به سرزمین باشان بروید و از آنجا شیون کنید، و به کوههای موآب بروید و از آنجا ندا در دهید چون همهٔ حامیان شما نابود شده‌اند.

²⁰Go up to Lebanon, and cry; and lift up thy voice in Bashan, and cry from the passages: for all thy lovers are destroyed.

²⁰ در زمانی که شما کامیاب بودید، خداوند با شما سخن گفت، امّا شما از گوش دادن امتناع کردید. شما هیچ‌وقت از خداوند اطاعت نکردید و این است آنچه شما در تمام زندگیتان انجام دادید.

²¹I spake unto thee in thy prosperity; but thou saidst, I will not hear. This hath been thy manner from thy youth, that thou obeyedst not my voice.

²¹ به‌خاطر شرارت‌هایی که مرتکب شده‌اید، بادی شدید رهبران شما را به اطراف پراکنده می‌کند، یاران شما اسیر می‌شوند، و شهر شما رسوا و بی‌آبرو خواهد شد.

²²The wind shall eat up all thy pastors, and thy lovers shall go into captivity: surely then shalt thou be ashamed and confounded for all thy wickedness.

²² ای کسانی‌که در کاخهای ساخته شده با چوبهای سرو آزاد لبنان، در امنیّت زندگی می‌کنید، چه رقّت‌آمیز خواهد بود، وقتی گرفتار درد شوید. دردی مثل درد زنی در حال زایمان!

²³O inhabitant of Lebanon, that makest thy nest in the cedars, how gracious shalt thou be when pangs come upon thee, the pain as of a woman in travail!

²³ خداوند به یهویاکین پادشاه، پسر یهویاقیم پادشاه یهودا گفت: «به حیات خودم سوگند، اگر تو حتّی نگین انگشتر دست راست من می‌بودی، تو را از انگشتم خارج می‌کردم

²⁴As I live, saith the LORD, though Coniah the son of Jehoiakim king of Judah were the signet upon my right hand, yet would I pluck thee thence;

²⁴ و به مردمی که از آنها می‌ترسی و درصدد قتل تو هستند می‌دادم. من تو را به نبوکدنصر پادشاه بابل و به سربازان او خواهم داد.

²⁵And I will give thee into the hand of them that seek thy life, and into the hand of them whose face thou fearest, even into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, and into the hand of the Chaldeans.

²⁵ من تو و مادرت را به تبعید خواهم فرستاد. هردوی شما را به سرزمینی خواهم فرستاد که هیچ‌یک از شما در آنجا به دنیا نیامده بودید، هردوی شما در آنجا خواهید مرد.

²⁶And I will cast thee out, and thy mother that bare thee, into another country, where ye were not born; and there shall ye die.

²⁶ در آرزوی دیدن این سرزمین خواهید بود، ولی هرگز برنخواهید گشت.»

²⁷But to the land whereunto they desire to return, thither shall they not return.

²⁷ من گفتم: «آیا یهویاکین مثل کوزهٔ شکسته‌ای است که به دور انداخته شده و کسی آن را نمی‌خواهد؟ آیا به همین دلیل است که او و فرزندانش به سرزمینی که چیزی درباره‌اش نمی‌دانند، تبعید شده‌اند؟

²⁸Is this man Coniah a despised broken idol? is he a vessel wherein is no pleasure? wherefore are they cast out, he and his seed, and are cast into a land which they know not?

²⁸ ای زمین، ای زمین، ای زمین، پیام خداوند را بشنو! «این مرد محکوم است که فرزندان خود را از دست بدهد، و هیچ‌وقت موفّق نشود. او فرزندانی نخواهد داشت که مثل فرزندان داوود در یهودا حکومت کنند. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

²⁹O earth, earth, earth, hear the word of the LORD.

²⁹ «این مرد محکوم است که فرزندان خود را از دست بدهد، و هیچ‌وقت موفّق نشود. او فرزندانی نخواهد داشت که مثل فرزندان داوود در یهودا حکومت کنند. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

³⁰Thus saith the LORD, Write ye this man childless, a man that shall not prosper in his days: for no man of his seed shall prosper, sitting upon the throne of David, and ruling any more in Judah.
