¹The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the people of Judah in the fourth year of Jehoiakim the son of Josiah king of Judah, that was the first year of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon;

¹ در سال چهارم سلطنت یهویاقیم پسر یوشیا پادشاه یهودا، (که همزمان با اولین سال سلطنت نبوکدنصر پادشاه بابل بود) پیامی از جانب خداوند برای تمام مردم یهودا دریافت کردم.

²The which Jeremiah the prophet spake unto all the people of Judah, and to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, saying,

² من به تمام مردم یهودا و اورشلیم گفتم،

³From the thirteenth year of Josiah the son of Amon king of Judah, even unto this day, that is the three and twentieth year, the word of the LORD hath come unto me, and I have spoken unto you, rising early and speaking; but ye have not hearkened.

³ «مدّت بیست و سه سال‌-یعنی از سیزدهمین سال سلطنت یوشیا پسر آمون تا به امروز‌- خداوند با من سخن گفته و من در رساندن پیامهای او به شما غفلت نکرده‌ام. امّا شما اعتنایی به آنها نکردید.

⁴And the LORD hath sent unto you all his servants the prophets, rising early and sending them; but ye have not hearkened, nor inclined your ear to hear.

⁴ هر چند خداوند به فرستادن انبیای خود ادامه داد ولی شما به آنها گوش ندادید و به گفته‌هایشان توجّه نکردید.

⁵They said, Turn ye again now every one from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the LORD hath given unto you and to your fathers for ever and ever:

⁵ آنها از شما می‌خواستند از راههای گناه‌آلود خود بازگردید و از شرارت دست بردارید تا بتوانید به زندگی در سرزمینی که خداوند برای همیشه به شما و اجدادتان داده است، ادامه دهید.

⁶And go not after other gods to serve them, and to worship them, and provoke me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.

⁶ آنها به شما گفتند از پرستش سایر خدایان خودداری کنید و خداوند را با پرستش بُتهایی که خودتان ساخته‌اید به خشم نیاورید. اگر از خداوند اطاعت می‌کردید او شما را تنبیه نمی‌کرد.

⁷Yet ye have not hearkened unto me, saith the LORD; that ye might provoke me to anger with the works of your hands to your own hurt.

⁷ امّا خداوند خودش می‌گوید که شما به او گوش ندادید و در عوض با بُتهای خود او را به خشم آوردید و مستوجب مجازات شدید.

⁸Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts; Because ye have not heard my words,

⁸ پس چون به او گوش نمی‌دهید، خداوند متعال می‌گوید،

⁹Behold, I will send and take all the families of the north, saith the LORD, and Nebuchadrezzar the king of Babylon, my servant, and will bring them against this land, and against the inhabitants thereof, and against all these nations round about, and will utterly destroy them, and make them an astonishment, and an hissing, and perpetual desolations.

⁹ «من به دنبال تمام ملّتهایی که در شمال زندگی می‌کنند و به دنبال بندهٔ خودم نبوکدنصر پادشاه بابل خواهم فرستاد تا آمده با یهودا و ساکنان آن و همچنین با ملّتهای همسایه بجنگد. من این ملّت و همسایه‌های او را ویران خواهم کرد و تا به ابد به صورت مخروبه‌ای متروک که موجب وحشت هر بیننده‌ای باشد، باقی خواهد ماند.

¹⁰Moreover I will take from them the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the sound of the millstones, and the light of the candle.

¹⁰ من به فریادهای شادی و خوشی و جشن‌های عروسی آنها خاتمه خواهم داد. چراغهایشان بی‌روغن و مزارع آنها بی‌غلّه خواهد شد.

¹¹And this whole land shall be a desolation, and an astonishment; and these nations shall serve the king of Babylon seventy years.

¹¹ تمام این سرزمین به ویرانه‌ای متروک مبدّل خواهد شد که موجب وحشت هر بیننده‌ای خواهد بود. یهودا و ملّتهای همسایه برای مدّت هفتاد سال در خدمت پادشاه بابل خواهند بود.

¹²And it shall come to pass, when seventy years are accomplished, that I will punish the king of Babylon, and that nation, saith the LORD, for their iniquity, and the land of the Chaldeans, and will make it perpetual desolations.

¹² بعد از آن من بابل و پادشاه آن را به‌خاطر گناهانشان مجازات خواهم کرد. من آن سرزمین را ویران می‌کنم و برای همیشه به صورت مخروبه‌ای درمی‌آورم.

¹³And I will bring upon that land all my words which I have pronounced against it, even all that is written in this book, which Jeremiah hath prophesied against all the nations.

¹³ من بابل را با همان مصیبت‌هایی که به وسیلهٔ ارمیا در مورد ملّت گفته بودم و در این کتاب ثبت شده، مجازات خواهم کرد.

¹⁴For many nations and great kings shall serve themselves of them also: and I will recompense them according to their deeds, and according to the works of their own hands.

¹⁴ من بابلیان را به جزای کارهایشان خواهم رسانید و ملّتهای زیادی و پادشاهان بزرگی، آنها را اسیر خواهند کرد.

¹⁵For thus saith the LORD God of Israel unto me; Take the wine cup of this fury at my hand, and cause all the nations, to whom I send thee, to drink it.

¹⁵ خداوند، خدای اسرائیل به من گفت: «این جام شراب از خشم من لبریز است. این را بگیرید و به پیش ملّتهایی که تو را می‌فرستم، ببر و آنها را از این جام بنوشان.

¹⁶And they shall drink, and be moved, and be mad, because of the sword that I will send among them.

¹⁶ وقتی آنها می‌نوشند سرگیجه می‌گیرند و به‌خاطر جنگی که برضد آنها می‌فرستم، عقلشان را از دست خواهند داد.»

¹⁷Then took I the cup at the LORD's hand, and made all the nations to drink, unto whom the LORD had sent me:

¹⁷ پس من جام را از دست خداوند گرفتم و آن را به ملّتهایی دادم که خداوند مرا نزد آنها فرستاده بود و آنها را وادار کردم از آن بنوشند.

¹⁸To wit, Jerusalem, and the cities of Judah, and the kings thereof, and the princes thereof, to make them a desolation, an astonishment, an hissing, and a curse; as it is this day;

¹⁸ از آن جام به اورشلیم و شهرهای یهودا و به پادشاهان و رهبران آنها نوشانیدم تا تمام آن سرزمین تبدیل به بیابان و منظره‌ای وحشتناک و تکان‌دهنده شد تا حدّی که مردم، آنجا را حتّی تا به امروز سرزمینی نفرین شده می‌دانند.

¹⁹Pharaoh king of Egypt, and his servants, and his princes, and all his people;

¹⁹ علاوه بر آن، این اشخاص نیز از آن جام نوشانید: فرعون با بزرگان و رهبران آنجا، تمام مصری‌ها و تمام خارجی‌های مقیم مصر، تمام پادشاهان سرزمین عوص، تمام پادشاهان سرزمین فلسطین: ‌شهرهای اسفلون، غزه، عقرون، و باقیمانده‌های شهر اشدود، تمام مردم اَدوم، موآب و عمون، تمام پادشاهان صور و صیدون، تمام پادشاهان سرزمینهای اطراف مدیترانه، شهرهای ددان، تیما و بور، تمام مردمی که موهای سر خود را کوتاه می‌کنند، تمام پادشاهان عربستان، تمام پادشاهان قبایلی که در بیابان هستند، تمام پادشاهان زمری، عیلام و ماد تمام پادشاهان سرزمینهای شمال، از دور و نزدیک، یکی پس از دیگری. تمام ملّتهای روی زمین مجبور بودند از آن بنوشند و آخر از همه پادشاه بابل از آن نوشید.

²⁰And all the mingled people, and all the kings of the land of Uz, and all the kings of the land of the Philistines, and Ashkelon, and Azzah, and Ekron, and the remnant of Ashdod,

²⁰ آنگاه خداوند به من گفت: «به مردم بگو که من، خداوند متعال، خدای اسرائیل به آنها امر می‌کنم آن‌قدر بنوشند که مست شوند و قی کنند و به‌خاطر جنگی که برضد آنها برپا می‌کنم. آنها چنان از پای خواهند افتاد که دیگر نمی‌توانند برخیزند.

²¹Edom, and Moab, and the children of Ammon,

²¹ اگر آنها از گرفتن جام از دست تو و نوشیدن آن امتناع ورزند، به آنها بگو که خداوند متعال می‌گوید، باید بنوشید.

²²And all the kings of Tyrus, and all the kings of Zidon, and the kings of the isles which are beyond the sea,

²² کار ویران‌سازی را از شهر خودم شروع خواهم کرد. آیا آنها فکر می‌کنند می‌توانند از مجازات بگریزند؟ نه، آنها مجازات خواهند شد. چون من تمام مردم روی زمین را در این جنگ گرفتار خواهم ساخت. من، خداوند متعال چنین گفته‌ام.

²³Dedan, and Tema, and Buz, and all that are in the utmost corners,

²³ «ای ارمیا، تو باید هرچه را من گفته‌ام اعلام کنی. تو باید به این مردم بگویی، 'خداوند از آسمان می‌خروشد، و از مکان مقدّس و متعال خود مثل رعد می‌غرّد. او برضد قوم خود بانگ برمی‌آورد، او همانند مردی که انگور را می‌افشرد فریاد می‌زند و تمام مردم روی زمین فریاد او را خواهند شنید.

²⁴And all the kings of Arabia, and all the kings of the mingled people that dwell in the desert,

²⁴ و طنین صدای او تا دورترین نقاط دنیا شنیده خواهد شد. خداوند علیه تمام ملّتها اقامه دعوی کرده است. او تمام مردم را به محاکمه می‌کشد و شریران را محکوم به مرگ خواهد کرد. خداوند سخن گفته است.'»

²⁵And all the kings of Zimri, and all the kings of Elam, and all the kings of the Medes,

²⁵ خداوند متعال می‌گوید که ملّتها یکی پس از دیگری گرفتار مصیبت و بلا خواهند شد و توفان در دورترین نقاط جهان در حال شکل گرفتن است.

²⁶And all the kings of the north, far and near, one with another, and all the kingdoms of the world, which are upon the face of the earth: and the king of Sheshach shall drink after them.

²⁶ در آن روز اجساد کسانی‌که به وسیلهٔ خداوند کشته شده‌اند، در سرتاسر دنیا پراکنده خواهد بود. کسی برای آنها ماتم نمی‌گیرد و کسی آنها را برای دفن کردن نمی‌برد. آنها مثل انبوهی از کُود بر روی زمین انباشته می‌شوند.

²⁷Therefore thou shalt say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Drink ye, and be drunken, and spue, and fall, and rise no more, because of the sword which I will send among you.

²⁷ شما، ای رهبران وای شبانان قوم فریاد بزنید، با صدای بلند فریاد بزنید! ماتم بگیرید و در خاکستر بغلطید. روز کشتار شما فرا رسیده و شما مثل گوسفند فربه، به دست قصّاب خواهید افتاد.

²⁸And it shall be, if they refuse to take the cup at thine hand to drink, then shalt thou say unto them, Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Ye shall certainly drink.

²⁸ راهی برای فرار شما وجود نخواهد داشت.

²⁹For, lo, I begin to bring evil on the city which is called by my name, and should ye be utterly unpunished? Ye shall not be unpunished: for I will call for a sword upon all the inhabitants of the earth, saith the LORD of hosts.

²⁹ شما در غم و غصّه هستید و گریه و زاری می‌کنید، چون خداوند در خشم خودش ملّت شما را نابود کرده و سرزمین آرام شما را ویران ساخته است. خداوند مثل شیری که لانهٔ خود را ترک کرده باشد، شما را ترک کرده است. وحشت جنگ و غضب خداوند، این سرزمین را به بیابانی بی‌آب و علف مبدّل کرده است.

³⁰Therefore prophesy thou against them all these words, and say unto them, The LORD shall roar from on high, and utter his voice from his holy habitation; he shall mightily roar upon his habitation; he shall give a shout, as they that tread the grapes, against all the inhabitants of the earth.

³⁰ خداوند مثل شیری که لانهٔ خود را ترک کرده باشد، شما را ترک کرده است. وحشت جنگ و غضب خداوند، این سرزمین را به بیابانی بی‌آب و علف مبدّل کرده است.

³¹A noise shall come even to the ends of the earth; for the LORD hath a controversy with the nations, he will plead with all flesh; he will give them that are wicked to the sword, saith the LORD.

³²Thus saith the LORD of hosts, Behold, evil shall go forth from nation to nation, and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the coasts of the earth.

³³And the slain of the LORD shall be at that day from one end of the earth even unto the other end of the earth: they shall not be lamented, neither gathered, nor buried; they shall be dung upon the ground.

³⁴Howl, ye shepherds, and cry; and wallow yourselves in the ashes, ye principal of the flock: for the days of your slaughter and of your dispersions are accomplished; and ye shall fall like a pleasant vessel.

³⁵And the shepherds shall have no way to flee, nor the principal of the flock to escape.

³⁶A voice of the cry of the shepherds, and an howling of the principal of the flock, shall be heard: for the LORD hath spoiled their pasture.

³⁷And the peaceable habitations are cut down because of the fierce anger of the LORD.

³⁸He hath forsaken his covert, as the lion: for their land is desolate because of the fierceness of the oppressor, and because of his fierce anger.
