¹Moreover the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah the second time, while he was yet shut up in the court of the prison, saying,

¹ زمانی که من هنوز در محوطهٔ کاخ زندانی بودم، یک‌بار دیگر پیام خداوند را دریافت کردم.

²Thus saith the LORD the maker thereof, the LORD that formed it, to establish it; the LORD is his name;

² خداوندی که زمین را آفرید و در جای خود قرار داد و نامش خداوند است به من گفت:

³Call unto me, and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not.

³ «از من بپرس و به تو پاسخ خواهم داد. دربارهٔ اسرار عجیبی که چیزی دربارهٔ آنها نمی‌دانی به تو خواهم گفت.

⁴For thus saith the LORD, the God of Israel, concerning the houses of this city, and concerning the houses of the kings of Judah, which are thrown down by the mounts, and by the sword;

⁴ من، خداوند ‌خدای اسرائیل دربارهٔ خانه‌های اورشلیم و کاخ سلطنتی یهودا که در نتیجهٔ محاصره و حمله ویران شده بودند، می‌گویم.

⁵They come to fight with the Chaldeans, but it is to fill them with the dead bodies of men, whom I have slain in mine anger and in my fury, and for all whose wickedness I have hid my face from this city.

⁵ گروهی برای مقابله با بابلی‌ها وارد جنگ خواهند شد و در نتیجه خانه‌ها از اجساد کسانی‌که از روی خشم و غضب خود زده‌ام، پر خواهد شد. به‌خاطر شرارتهایی که مردم این شهر مرتکب شده‌اند، من روی خود را از آنها بازگردانده‌ام.

⁶Behold, I will bring it health and cure, and I will cure them, and will reveal unto them the abundance of peace and truth.

⁶ امّا من این شهر و مردم آن را شفا خواهم داد و سلامتشان را به آنها برمی‌گردانم، و آنها را از صلح و امنیّت، سرشار خواهم ساخت.

⁷And I will cause the captivity of Judah and the captivity of Israel to return, and will build them, as at the first.

⁷ من کامیابی را به یهودا و اسرائیل برمی‌گردانم و آنها را از نو بنا خواهم کرد.

⁸And I will cleanse them from all their iniquity, whereby they have sinned against me; and I will pardon all their iniquities, whereby they have sinned, and whereby they have transgressed against me.

⁸ آنها را از گناهانی که مرتکب شده‌اند، پاک می‌کنم و گناهان و سرکشی‌های آنها را خواهم بخشید.

⁹And it shall be to me a name of joy, a praise and an honour before all the nations of the earth, which shall hear all the good that I do unto them: and they shall fear and tremble for all the goodness and for all the prosperity that I procure unto it.

⁹ اورشلیم موجب شادمانی، افتخار و جلال من خواهد بود. تمام ملّتهای جهان وقتی دربارهٔ احسانهایی که به مردم و کامیابی‌ که نصیب اورشلیم کرده‌ام بشنوند از ترس برخود خواهند لرزید.»

¹⁰Thus saith the LORD; Again there shall be heard in this place, which ye say shall be desolate without man and without beast, even in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, that are desolate, without man, and without inhabitant, and without beast,

¹⁰ خداوند گفت: «مردم می‌گویند که این شهر مثل بیابانی شده که دیگر انسان و حیوانی در آن زندگی نمی‌کند. آنها درست می‌گویند، شهرهای یهودا و کوچه‌های اورشلیم خالی هستند. هیچ انسان و حیوانی در آن زندگی نمی‌کند، امّا باز

¹¹The voice of joy, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride, the voice of them that shall say, Praise the LORD of hosts: for the LORD is good; for his mercy endureth for ever: and of them that shall bring the sacrifice of praise into the house of the LORD. For I will cause to return the captivity of the land, as at the first, saith the LORD.

¹¹ فریادهای شادی و خوشی و صدای جشن‌های عروسی به گوش خواهد رسید. صدای سرود مردم را درحالی‌که هدایای شکرگزاری در معبد بزرگ من تقدیم می‌کنند، خواهید شنید که می‌گویند: 'خداوند متعال را سپاس گویید، چون او نیکوست و محبّتش ابدی است.' من این سرزمین را مثل گذشته، موفّق و کامیاب خواهم ساخت. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

¹²Thus saith the LORD of hosts; Again in this place, which is desolate without man and without beast, and in all the cities thereof, shall be an habitation of shepherds causing their flocks to lie down.

¹² خداوند متعال گفت: «در این سرزمینی که مثل بیابان شده و هیچ انسان و حیوانی در آن زندگی نمی‌کند بار دیگر چراگاههایی خواهد داشت و چوپانان گلّه‌های خود را در آنها خواهند چرانید.

¹³In the cities of the mountains, in the cities of the vale, and in the cities of the south, and in the land of Benjamin, and in the places about Jerusalem, and in the cities of Judah, shall the flocks pass again under the hands of him that telleth them, saith the LORD.

¹³ در شهرهای کوهستانی، کوهپایه‌ها، قسمت جنوبی یهودا، سرزمین بنیامین و در روستاهای اطراف اورشلیم، چوپانان یک‌بار دیگر گوسفندان خود را خواهند شمرد. من، خداوند چنین گفته‌ام.»

¹⁴Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will perform that good thing which I have promised unto the house of Israel and to the house of Judah.

¹⁴ خداوند گفت: «زمانی می‌آید که من به وعده‌های خود به قوم اسرائیل و یهودا عمل خواهم کرد.

¹⁵In those days, and at that time, will I cause the Branch of righteousness to grow up unto David; and he shall execute judgment and righteousness in the land.

¹⁵ در آن زمان، من پادشاه عادلی از نسل داوود برخواهم گزید. آن پادشاه آنچه را راست و درست است، در تمام این سرزمین انجام خواهد داد.

¹⁶In those days shall Judah be saved, and Jerusalem shall dwell safely: and this is the name wherewith she shall be called, The LORD our righteousness.

¹⁶ مردم یهودا و اورشلیم نجات می‌یابند و در امنیّت زندگی خواهند کرد. این شهر به نام 'خداوند عدالت و زندگی ما' نامیده خواهد شد.

¹⁷For thus saith the LORD; David shall never want a man to sit upon the throne of the house of Israel;

¹⁷ من، خداوند به شما اطمینان می‌دهم که از نسل داوود همیشه کسی وجود خواهد داشت که بر اسرائیل سلطنت کند.

¹⁸Neither shall the priests the Levites want a man before me to offer burnt offerings, and to kindle meat offerings, and to do sacrifice continually.

¹⁸ و همیشه کاهنانی از طایفهٔ لاوی خواهند بود تا هدایای سوختنی، غلاّت، و قربانی‌ها را به حضور من تقدیم کنند.»

¹⁹And the word of the LORD came unto Jeremiah, saying,

¹⁹ خداوند به من گفت:

²⁰Thus saith the LORD; If ye can break my covenant of the day, and my covenant of the night, and that there should not be day and night in their season;

²⁰ «من با روز و شب پیمانی بسته‌ام تا آنها همیشه در زمانهای معیّن شروع شوند و این پیمان هیچ‌گاه شکسته نخواهد شد.

²¹Then may also my covenant be broken with David my servant, that he should not have a son to reign upon his throne; and with the Levites the priests, my ministers.

²¹ به همان نحو پیمانی با بندهٔ خود، داوود، بسته‌ام تا از نسل او همیشه کسی در خدمت من باشد، و این پیمانها هیچ‌گاه شکسته نخواهند شد.

²²As the host of heaven cannot be numbered, neither the sand of the sea measured: so will I multiply the seed of David my servant, and the Levites that minister unto me.

²² من به تعداد فرزندان نسل بنده‌ام، داوود و به تعداد کاهن‌های طایفهٔ لاوی خواهم افزود تا مثل ستارگان آسمان و دانه‌های شن کنار دریا غیرقابل شمردن باشند.»

²³Moreover the word of the LORD came to Jeremiah, saying,

²³ خداوند به من گفت:

²⁴Considerest thou not what this people have spoken, saying, The two families which the LORD hath chosen, he hath even cast them off? thus they have despised my people, that they should be no more a nation before them.

²⁴ «آیا توجّه کرده‌ای که چگونه مردم می‌گویند من اسرائیل و یهودا را -‌دو خانواده‌ای را که خود برگزیده‌ام‌- طرد کرده‌ام؟ از این رو با حقارت به قوم من نگاه می‌کنند و دیگر آنها را به عنوان یک ملّت قبول ندارند.

²⁵Thus saith the LORD; If my covenant be not with day and night, and if I have not appointed the ordinances of heaven and earth;

²⁵ امّا من، خداوند، با روز و شب پیمان بسته‌ام و قوانینی وضع کرده‌ام که بر زمین و آسمان حاکم است. به همان نحو من پیمان خود را با فرزندان یعقوب و با بندهٔ خود داوود حفظ خواهم کرد. کسی را از نسل داوود برای حکمرانی بر فرزندان ابراهیم و اسحاق و یعقوب انتخاب خواهم کرد. من نسبت به قوم خود رحیم خواهم بود و سعادتشان را به آنها برمی‌گردانم.»

²⁶Then will I cast away the seed of Jacob and David my servant, so that I will not take any of his seed to be rulers over the seed of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob: for I will cause their captivity to return, and have mercy on them.

²⁶ به همان نحو من پیمان خود را با فرزندان یعقوب و با بندهٔ خود داوود حفظ خواهم کرد. کسی را از نسل داوود برای حکمرانی بر فرزندان ابراهیم و اسحاق و یعقوب انتخاب خواهم کرد. من نسبت به قوم خود رحیم خواهم بود و سعادتشان را به آنها برمی‌گردانم.»
