¹The word that came to Jeremiah concerning all the Jews which dwell in the land of Egypt, which dwell at Migdol, and at Tahpanhes, and at Noph, and in the country of Pathros, saying,

¹ خداوند در مورد تمام یهودیانی که در شهرهای مجدل، تَحفَنحیس، ممفیس و در جنوب مصر زندگی می‌کردند با من سخن گفت.

²Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Ye have seen all the evil that I have brought upon Jerusalem, and upon all the cities of Judah; and, behold, this day they are a desolation, and no man dwelleth therein,

² خداوند متعال، خدای اسرائیل، گفت: «شما خودتان شاهد ویرانی‌ای که بر اورشلیم و سایر شهرهای یهودا وارد کردم بودید. آنها حتّی تا به امروز ویران هستند و کسی در آنها زندگی نمی‌کند،

³Because of their wickedness which they have committed to provoke me to anger, in that they went to burn incense, and to serve other gods, whom they knew not, neither they, ye, nor your fathers.

³ چون مردم آنجا مرتکب شرارت شده بودند و خشم مرا برانگیختند. آنها برای خدایان دیگر قربانی می‌گذراندند و در خدمت خدایانی درآمدند که نه شما آنها را پرستش کرده‌اید و نه نیاکان شما.

⁴Howbeit I sent unto you all my servants the prophets, rising early and sending them, saying, Oh, do not this abominable thing that I hate.

⁴ من مرتب بندگان خودم یعنی انبیا را فرستادم تا به شما بگویند از انجام این کار وحشتناکی که من از آن تنفر دارم، خودداری کنید.

⁵But they hearkened not, nor inclined their ear to turn from their wickedness, to burn no incense unto other gods.

⁵ امّا شما گوش نمی‌دادید و توجّه نمی‌کردید. شما از قربانی‌های پلید خود برای خدایان بیگانه دست برنداشتید.

⁶Wherefore my fury and mine anger was poured forth, and was kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted and desolate, as at this day.

⁶ پس من خشم و غضب خود را بر شهرهای یهودا و کوچه‌های اورشلیم فرو ریختم و آنها را به آتش کشیدم. آنها به ویرانه‌هایی تبدیل شدند که حتّی امروز انسان از دیدن آن وحشت می‌کند.

⁷Therefore now thus saith the LORD, the God of hosts, the God of Israel; Wherefore commit ye this great evil against your souls, to cut off from you man and woman, child and suckling, out of Judah, to leave you none to remain;

⁷ «پس من، خداوند متعال، خدای اسرائیل، از شما می‌پرسم چرا می‌خواهید بلایی بر سر خود بیاورید. آیا خواهان نابودی مردان و زنان، کودکان و اطفال خود هستید تا دیگر کسی از شما باقی نماند؟

⁸In that ye provoke me unto wrath with the works of your hands, burning incense unto other gods in the land of Egypt, whither ye be gone to dwell, that ye might cut yourselves off, and that ye might be a curse and a reproach among all the nations of the earth?

⁸ چرا با پرستش بُتها و قربانی‌ برای خدایان بیگانه در اینجا -‌در مصر در جایی که می‌خواهید زندگی کنید- خشم مرا برمی‌انگیزید؟ آیا این کار را برای از بین بردن خودتان می‌کنید تا اینکه تمام ملّتهای روی زمین شما را مسخره کنند و نام شما را به صورت نفرین و لعنت به کار ببرند؟

⁹Have ye forgotten the wickedness of your fathers, and the wickedness of the kings of Judah, and the wickedness of their wives, and your own wickedness, and the wickedness of your wives, which they have committed in the land of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem?

⁹ آیا تمام آن کارهای ظالمانه‌ای را که در شهرهای یهودا و کوچه‌های اورشلیم به وسیلهٔ اجداد شما و به وسیلهٔ پادشاهان یهودا و زنهای آنها و همچنین به وسیلهٔ شما و زنهایتان صورت می‌گرفت، فراموش کرد‌ه‌اید؟

¹⁰They are not humbled even unto this day, neither have they feared, nor walked in my law, nor in my statutes, that I set before you and before your fathers.

¹⁰ امّا تا به امروز، شما خود را فروتن نساخته‌اید. شما حرمت مرا نگاه نداشته‌اید و شما طبق دستوراتی که به شما و به اجدادتان داده‌ام زندگی نکرده‌اید.

¹¹Therefore thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel; Behold, I will set my face against you for evil, and to cut off all Judah.

¹¹ «پس من، خداوند متعال، خدای اسرائیل، علیه شما اقدام می‌کنم و تمام یهودا را ویران می‌سازم.

¹²And I will take the remnant of Judah, that have set their faces to go into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, and they shall all be consumed, and fall in the land of Egypt; they shall even be consumed by the sword and by the famine: they shall die, from the least even unto the greatest, by the sword and by the famine: and they shall be an execration, and an astonishment, and a curse, and a reproach.

¹² در مورد مردم یهودا که باقی مانده ‌بودند و تصمیم گرفتند به مصر بروند و در آنجا زندگی کنند، من همهٔ آنها را نابود خواهم کرد. تمام آنها وحشت خواهند کرد، مردم آنها را مسخره خواهند کرد و اسم آنها را به صورت نفرین و لعنت به کار خواهند برد.

¹³For I will punish them that dwell in the land of Egypt, as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by the famine, and by the pestilence:

¹³ من کسانی را که در مصر زندگی می‌کنند، مثل مردم اورشلیم با جنگ و گرسنگی و بیماری مجازات خواهم کرد.

¹⁴So that none of the remnant of Judah, which are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall escape or remain, that they should return into the land of Judah, to the which they have a desire to return to dwell there: for none shall return but such as shall escape.

¹⁴ هیچ‌‌یک از مردم یهودا که زنده مانده ‌و برای زندگی به مصر آمده‌اند، نمی‌توانند فرار کنند یا زنده بمانند. یک نفر از آنها به یهودا، جایی که آرزو دارند یک‌بار دیگر در آنجا زندگی کنند، برنخواهد گشت. هیچ‌کس به جز عدّهٔ کمی پناهنده به آنجا برنخواهد گشت.»

¹⁵Then all the men which knew that their wives had burned incense unto other gods, and all the women that stood by, a great multitude, even all the people that dwelt in the land of Egypt, in Pathros, answered Jeremiah, saying,

¹⁵ آنگاه تمام مردانی که می‌دانستند، همسرانشان برای خدایان دیگر قربانی می‌گذراندند و همهٔ زنانی که در آنجا ایستاده بودند، از جمله یهودیانی که در جنوب مصر زندگی می‌کردند -‌همه با هم گروه کثیری بودند- آنها به من گفتند:

¹⁶As for the word that thou hast spoken unto us in the name of the LORD, we will not hearken unto thee.

¹⁶ «ما به آنچه تو به نام خداوند به ما گفته‌ای گوش نخواهیم داد.

¹⁷But we will certainly do whatsoever thing goeth forth out of our own mouth, to burn incense unto the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, as we have done, we, and our fathers, our kings, and our princes, in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem: for then had we plenty of victuals, and were well, and saw no evil.

¹⁷ ما به انجام همان کارهایی که گفتیم ادامه خواهیم داد. ما برای الههٔ خودمان -‌ملکهٔ آسمان- قربانی خواهیم گذرانید و هدیهٔ شراب بر قدمش خواهیم ریخت، یعنی همان کاری را می‌کنیم که اجداد ما، پادشاهان و رهبران ما در شهرهای یهودا و کوچه‌های اورشلیم می‌کردند. در آن موقع ما غذای فراوان داشتیم، در رفاه زندگی می‌کردیم و زحمتی نداشتیم.

¹⁸But since we left off to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her, we have wanted all things, and have been consumed by the sword and by the famine.

¹⁸ امّا از وقتی از گذرانیدن قربانی به حضور ملکهٔ آسمان و ریختن شراب بر قدمهای او خودداری کردیم، دیگر چیزی نداریم و مردم ما یا در جنگ کشته می‌شوند یا از گرسنگی.»

¹⁹And when we burned incense to the queen of heaven, and poured out drink offerings unto her, did we make her cakes to worship her, and pour out drink offerings unto her, without our men?

¹⁹ علاوه بر ‌آن، زنان گفتند: «وقتی نانهای شیرینی را به صورت ملکهٔ آسمان می‌پختیم و به حضور او قربانی می‌گذرانیدیم و شراب را به عنوان هدیه به حضورش تقدیم می‌کردیم، شوهران ما، با هرچه که می‌کردیم موافق بودند.»

²⁰Then Jeremiah said unto all the people, to the men, and to the women, and to all the people which had given him that answer, saying,

²⁰ بعد از آن، من به تمام مردان و زنانی که چنین جوابی به من داده‌ بودند، گفتم:

²¹The incense that ye burned in the cities of Judah, and in the streets of Jerusalem, ye, and your fathers, your kings, and your princes, and the people of the land, did not the LORD remember them, and came it not into his mind?

²¹ «در مورد قربانی‌هایی که شما و اجداد شما، پادشاهان و رهبران و تمام مردم در شهرهای یهودا و کوچه‌های اورشلیم می‌گذرانیدید، آیا فکر می‌کنید خداوند آنها را نمی‌دانست، و یا آنها را فراموش کرده است؟

²²So that the LORD could no longer bear, because of the evil of your doings, and because of the abominations which ye have committed; therefore is your land a desolation, and an astonishment, and a curse, without an inhabitant, as at this day.

²² همین امروز سرزمین شما ویران شده و دیگر کسی در آن زندگی نمی‌کند. منظرهٔ وحشتناکی است. مردم اسم آن را به عنوان نفرین و لعنت به کار می‌برند. چون خداوند نمی‌توانست بیش از این ظلم و شرارت شما را تحمّل کند.

²³Because ye have burned incense, and because ye have sinned against the LORD, and have not obeyed the voice of the LORD, nor walked in his law, nor in his statutes, nor in his testimonies; therefore this evil is happened unto you, as at this day.

²³ چون برای خدایان دیگر قربانی گذرانیدید و با عدم اطاعت از احکام خداوند مرتکب گناه شده‌اید، پس خداوند شما را به چنین مصیبتی گرفتار کرده است.»

²⁴Moreover Jeremiah said unto all the people, and to all the women, Hear the word of the LORD, all Judah that are in the land of Egypt:

²⁴ من هرچه را خداوند متعال، خدای اسرائیل خواست به یهودیان مقیم مصر بگویم، به تمام مردم مخصوصاً به زنان گفتم: «شما و همسرانتان برای ملکهٔ آسمان سوگند وفاداری یاد کرده‌اید. شما نذر کرده‌اید برایش قربانی بگذرانید و شراب بر قدمهایش بریزید، شما به عهدتان وفا کردید. خیلی خوب، پس به عهد خود وفا کنید و نذرهای خود را ادا نمایید.

²⁵Thus saith the LORD of hosts, the God of Israel, saying; Ye and your wives have both spoken with your mouths, and fulfilled with your hand, saying, We will surely perform our vows that we have vowed, to burn incense to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto her: ye will surely accomplish your vows, and surely perform your vows.

²⁵ پس اکنون به تصمیمی که من خداوند، در نام عظیم خودم برای شما یهودیان مقیم مصر گرفته‌ام گوش کنید: دیگر هیچ‌وقت اجازه نخواهم داد هیچ‌یک از شما به نام من سوگند یاد کند و بگوید: 'من به نام خداوند زنده سوگند یاد می‌کنم!'

²⁶Therefore hear ye the word of the LORD, all Judah that dwell in the land of Egypt; Behold, I have sworn by my great name, saith the LORD, that my name shall no more be named in the mouth of any man of Judah in all the land of Egypt, saying, The Lord GOD liveth.

²⁶ من نمی‌گذارم دیگر شما در رفاه باشید و همه نابود خواهید شد. همهٔ شما یا در جنگ یا از بیماری خواهید مُرد، حتّی یک نفر از شما باقی نمی‌ماند.

²⁷Behold, I will watch over them for evil, and not for good: and all the men of Judah that are in the land of Egypt shall be consumed by the sword and by the famine, until there be an end of them.

²⁷ امّا تعداد کمی از شما از مرگ خواهد گریخت و از مصر به یهودا برخواهد گشت. در آن موقع، آنها که زنده مانده‌اند خواهند دانست که گفتار چه کسی حقیقت داشت، حرفهای من یا آنها.

²⁸Yet a small number that escape the sword shall return out of the land of Egypt into the land of Judah, and all the remnant of Judah, that are gone into the land of Egypt to sojourn there, shall know whose words shall stand, mine, or their's.

²⁸ من، خداوند، برای اثبات آنچه در مورد مجازات شما و تصمیم خودم برای نابودی شما گفته‌ام به شما علامتی می‌دهم. من حُفرع فرعون مصر را تسلیم دشمنانش که قصد کشتن او را دارند، خواهم کرد؛ همان‌طور که صدقیا، پادشاه یهودا را تسلیم نبوکدنصر پادشاه بابل که قصد کشتن او را داشت نمودم.»

²⁹And this shall be a sign unto you, saith the LORD, that I will punish you in this place, that ye may know that my words shall surely stand against you for evil:

²⁹ من حُفرع فرعون مصر را تسلیم دشمنانش که قصد کشتن او را دارند، خواهم کرد؛ همان‌طور که صدقیا، پادشاه یهودا را تسلیم نبوکدنصر پادشاه بابل که قصد کشتن او را داشت نمودم.»

³⁰Thus saith the LORD; Behold, I will give Pharaohhophra king of Egypt into the hand of his enemies, and into the hand of them that seek his life; as I gave Zedekiah king of Judah into the hand of Nebuchadrezzar king of Babylon, his enemy, and that sought his life.
