¹Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that entereth not by the door into the sheepfold, but climbeth up some other way, the same is a thief and a robber.

¹ «یقین بدانید هرکه از در به آغل گوسفندان وارد نشود بلكه از راه دیگری بالا برود او دزد و راهزن است.

²But he that entereth in by the door is the shepherd of the sheep.

² امّا کسی‌که از در وارد شود شبان گوسفندان است.

³To him the porter openeth; and the sheep hear his voice: and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

³ دربان در را برای او باز می‌کند و گوسفندان صدایش را می‌شنوند. او گوسفندان خود را به نام می‌خواند و آنان را بیرون می‌برد.

⁴And when he putteth forth his own sheep, he goeth before them, and the sheep follow him: for they know his voice.

⁴ وقتی گوسفندان خود را بیرون می‌بَرد، خودش در جلوی آنها حركت می‌کند و گوسفندان

⁵And a stranger will they not follow, but will flee from him: for they know not the voice of strangers.

⁵ به دنبالش می‌روند زیرا صدای او را می‌شناسند. به دنبال غریبه نمی‌روند بلكه از او می‌گریزند زیرا صدای غریبه‌ها را نمی‌شناسند.»

⁶This parable spake Jesus unto them: but they understood not what things they were which he spake unto them.

⁶ عیسی این مَثَل را برای ایشان آورد ولی آنها مقصود او را نفهمیدند.

⁷Then said Jesus unto them again, Verily, verily, I say unto you, I am the door of the sheep.

⁷ پس عیسی بار دیگر به آنها گفت: «یقین بدانید كه من برای گوسفندان در هستم.

⁸All that ever came before me are thieves and robbers: but the sheep did not hear them.

⁸ همهٔ کسانی‌که قبل از من آمدند، دزد و راهزن بودند و گوسفندان به صدای آنان گوش ندادند.

⁹I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

⁹ من در هستم، هرکه به وسیلهٔ من وارد شود نجات می‌یابد و به داخل و خارج می‌رود و علوفه پیدا می‌کند.

¹⁰The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.

¹⁰ دزد می‌آید تا بدزدد، بكشد و نابود سازد. من آمده‌ام تا آدمیان حیات یابند و آن را به طور كامل داشته باشند.

¹¹I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.

¹¹ «من شبان نیكو هستم، شبان نیكو جان خود را برای گوسفندان فدا می‌سازد.

¹²But he that is an hireling, and not the shepherd, whose own the sheep are not, seeth the wolf coming, and leaveth the sheep, and fleeth: and the wolf catcheth them, and scattereth the sheep.

¹² امّا مزدوری كه شبان نیست و گوسفندان به او تعلّق ندارند وقتی ببیند كه گرگ می‌آید، گوسفندان را می‌گذارد و فرار می‌کند. آنگاه گرگ به گلّه حمله می‌کند و گوسفندان را پراكنده می‌سازد.

¹³The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

¹³ او می‌گریزد چون مزدور است و به فكر گوسفندان نیست.

¹⁴I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine.

¹⁴ من شبان نیكو هستم، من گوسفندان خود را می‌شناسم و آنها هم مرا می‌شناسند.

¹⁵As the Father knoweth me, even so know I the Father: and I lay down my life for the sheep.

¹⁵ همان‌طور كه پدر مرا می‌شناسد، من هم پدر را می‌شناسم و جان خود را در راه گوسفندان فدا می‌سازم.

¹⁶And other sheep I have, which are not of this fold: them also I must bring, and they shall hear my voice; and there shall be one fold, and one shepherd.

¹⁶ من گوسفندان دیگری هم دارم كه از این گلّه نیستند، باید آنها را نیز بیاورم. آنها صدای مرا خواهند شنید و یک گلّه و یک شبان خواهند شد.

¹⁷Therefore doth my Father love me, because I lay down my life, that I might take it again.

¹⁷ «پدرم مرا دوست دارد زیرا من جان خود را فدا می‌کنم تا آنان را بار دیگر بازیابم.

¹⁸No man taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself. I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment have I received of my Father.

¹⁸ هیچ‌کس جان مرا از من نمی‌گیرد، من به میل خود آن را فدا می‌کنم. اختیار دارم كه آن را فدا سازم و اختیار دارم كه آن را باز به دست آورم. پدر این دستور را به من داده است.»

¹⁹There was a division therefore again among the Jews for these sayings.

¹⁹ به‌خاطر این سخنان، بار دیگر در بین یهودیان دودستگی به وجود آمد.

²⁰And many of them said, He hath a devil, and is mad; why hear ye him?

²⁰ بسیاری از آنان گفتند: «او دیو دارد و دیوانه است. چرا به سخنان او گوش می‌دهید؟»

²¹Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a devil. Can a devil open the eyes of the blind?

²¹ دیگران گفتند: «کسی‌که دیو دارد نمی‌تواند این‌طور سخن بگوید. آیا دیو می‌تواند چشمان كور را باز نماید؟»

²²And it was at Jerusalem the feast of the dedication, and it was winter.

²² وقتی عید تقدیس در اورشلیم فرا رسید، زمستان بود

²³And Jesus walked in the temple in Solomon's porch.

²³ و عیسی در صحن معبد بزرگ و در داخل رواق سلیمان قدم می‌زد.

²⁴Then came the Jews round about him, and said unto him, How long dost thou make us to doubt? If thou be the Christ, tell us plainly.

²⁴ یهودیان در اطراف او گرد آمدند و از او پرسیدند: «تا چه ‌موقع ما را در بی‌تکلیفی نگاه می‌داری؟ اگر مسیح هستی آشكارا بگو.»

²⁵Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me.

²⁵ عیسی گفت: «من به شما گفته‌ام امّا شما باور نمی‌كنید. كارهایی كه به نام پدر انجام می‌دهم بر من شهادت می‌دهند.

²⁶But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you.

²⁶ امّا شما، چون گوسفندان من نیستید ایمان نمی‌آورید.

²⁷My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:

²⁷ گوسفندان من صدای مرا می‌شنوند و من آنها را می‌شناسم و آنها به دنبال من می‌آیند.

²⁸And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.

²⁸ من به آنها حیات جاودان می‌بخشم و آنها هرگز هلاک نخواهند شد و هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند آنها را از دست من بگیرد.

²⁹My Father, which gave them me, is greater than all; and no man is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand.

²⁹ پدری كه آنان را به من بخشیده است از همه بزرگتر است و هیچ‌کس نمی‌تواند آنها را از دست پدر من بگیرد.

³⁰I and my Father are one.

³⁰ من و پدر یک هستیم.»

³¹Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.

³¹ بار دیگر یهودیان سنگ را برداشتند تا او را سنگسار كنند.

³²Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

³² عیسی به آنها گفت: «من از جانب پدر كارهای نیک بسیاری در برابر شما انجام داده‌ام به‌خاطر کدام‌یک از آنها مرا سنگسار می‌کنید؟»

³³The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.

³³ یهودیان در جواب گفتند: «برای كارهای نیک نیست كه می‌خواهیم تو را سنگسار كنیم، بلكه به‌خاطر كفرگفتن توست. تو كه یک انسان هستی و ادّعای الوهیّت می‌کنی!»

³⁴Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

³⁴ عیسی در جواب گفت: «مگر در شریعت شما نوشته نشده است كه شما خدایان هستید؟

³⁵If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

³⁵ اگر خدا كسانی را كه كلام او را دریافت کرده‌اند خدایان خوانده است و ما می‌دانیم كه كلام خدا هرگز باطل نمی‌شود،

³⁶Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

³⁶ پس چرا به من كه پدر، مرا برگزیده و به جهان فرستاده است نسبت كفرگویی می‌دهید، وقتی می‌گویم پسر خدا هستم؟

³⁷If I do not the works of my Father, believe me not.

³⁷ اگر من كارهای پدرم را بجا نمی‌آورم، به من ایمان نیاورید.

³⁸But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know, and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in him.

³⁸ امّا اگر كارهای او را انجام می‌دهم حتّی اگر به من ایمان نمی‌آورید به كارهای من ایمان آورید و بدانید و مطمئن شوید كه پدر در من است و من در او.»

³⁹Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,

³⁹ پس بار دیگر آنها می‌خواستند او را دستگیر كنند امّا از نظر ایشان دور شد.

⁴⁰And went away again beyond Jordan into the place where John at first baptized; and there he abode.

⁴⁰ باز عیسی از رود اردن گذشته به جایی‌که یحیی قبلاً تعمید می‌داد، رفت و در آنجا ماند.

⁴¹And many resorted unto him, and said, John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of this man were true.

⁴¹ بسیاری از مردم پیش او آمدند و گفتند: «یحیی هیچ معجزه‌ای نكرد امّا آنچه او دربارهٔ این مرد گفت راست بود.» در آنجا بسیاری به عیسی گرویدند.

⁴²And many believed on him there.

⁴² در آنجا بسیاری به عیسی گرویدند.
