¹Then went Samson to Gaza, and saw there an harlot, and went in unto her.

¹ یک روز سامسون به غزه رفت. در آنجا شب را با یک زن فاحشه به سر بُرد.

²And it was told the Gazites, saying, Samson is come hither. And they compassed him in, and laid wait for him all night in the gate of the city, and were quiet all the night, saying, In the morning, when it is day, we shall kill him.

² مردم غزه شنیدند که سامسون به آنجا آمده است، پس آن خانه را محاصره کرده و تمام شب در دروازهٔ شهر بی‌صدا منتظر ماندند. آنها با خود گفتند تا وقتی هوا روشن شود، منتظر می‌مانیم و وقت صبح هنگامی که او خواست برود، او را می‌کشیم.

³And Samson lay till midnight, and arose at midnight, and took the doors of the gate of the city, and the two posts, and went away with them, bar and all, and put them upon his shoulders, and carried them up to the top of an hill that is before Hebron.

³ سامسون تا نیمه شب در آنجا خوابید و سپس برخاست و دروازهٔ شهر را با چارچوب آن یک‌‌جا از زمین کَند و بر شانهٔ خود گذاشته، به بالای تپّه‌ای که روبه‌روی حبرون است بُرد.

⁴And it came to pass afterward, that he loved a woman in the valley of Sorek, whose name was Delilah.

⁴ سامسون عاشق زنی شد که نامش دلیله بود و در وادی سورَق زندگی می‌کرد.

⁵And the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and said unto her, Entice him, and see wherein his great strength lieth, and by what means we may prevail against him, that we may bind him to afflict him; and we will give thee every one of us eleven hundred pieces of silver.

⁵ بزرگان فلسطینی پیش آن زن آمده گفتند: «او را فریب بده و بپرس که چه چیزی او را چنین نیرومند ساخته است و چگونه می‌شود بر او چیره شد تا ما او را بگیریم و ببندیم. اگر این کار را برای ما انجام دهی، هریک از ما هزار و صد تکهٔ نقره به تو می‌دهیم.»

⁶And Delilah said to Samson, Tell me, I pray thee, wherein thy great strength lieth, and wherewith thou mightest be bound to afflict thee.

⁶ پس دلیله پیش سامسون آمد و گفت: «لطفاً به من بگو که این قدرت عظیم تو در چیست. چطور کسی می‌تواند تو را مغلوب کند و ببندد؟»

⁷And Samson said unto her, If they bind me with seven green withes that were never dried, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

⁷ سامسون جواب داد: «اگر مرا با هفت ریسمان‌تر و تازه، که خشک نشده باشد ببندند، من ناتوان و مانند مردم عادی می‌شوم.»

⁸Then the lords of the Philistines brought up to her seven green withes which had not been dried, and she bound him with them.

⁸ بزرگان فلسطینی هفت ریسمان‌تر و تازه را که خشک نشده بودند، آوردند و دلیله دست و پای سامسون را با آنها بست.

⁹Now there were men lying in wait, abiding with her in the chamber. And she said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he brake the withes, as a thread of tow is broken when it toucheth the fire. So his strength was not known.

⁹ چند نفر از آنها، در یک اتاق دیگر پنهان شده بودند. دلیله به سامسون گفت: «فلسطینیان برای دستگیری تو آمده‌اند.» امّا سامسون ریسمانها را، مثل نخی که روی آتش بگیرند، پاره کرد و راز قدرت او کشف نشد.

¹⁰And Delilah said unto Samson, Behold, thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: now tell me, I pray thee, wherewith thou mightest be bound.

¹⁰ بعد دلیله به او گفت: «تو مرا مسخره کردی و به من دروغ گفتی. حال لطفاً به من بگو چطور می‌توان تو را بست؟»

¹¹And he said unto her, If they bind me fast with new ropes that never were occupied, then shall I be weak, and be as another man.

¹¹ سامسون گفت: «اگر مرا با ریسمانی نو، که هرگز استفاده نشده باشد ببندند، قدرت خود را از دست می‌دهم و مثل مردان دیگر می‌شوم.»

¹²Delilah therefore took new ropes, and bound him therewith, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And there were liers in wait abiding in the chamber. And he brake them from off his arms like a thread.

¹² پس دلیله او را با ریسمانهای نو بست. فلسطینیان مانند دفعه پیش، در اتاق دیگر پنهان شده بودند. دلیله گفت: «سامسون، فلسطینیان آمده‌اند تا گرفتارت کنند.» امّا سامسون باز ریسمانها را مثل نخ از بازوان خود گسیخت.

¹³And Delilah said unto Samson, Hitherto thou hast mocked me, and told me lies: tell me wherewith thou mightest be bound. And he said unto her, If thou weavest the seven locks of my head with the web.

¹³ دلیله باز به سامسون گفت: «تو بار دیگر مرا مسخره کرده و به من دروغ گفتی. حال راست بگو که چطور می‌توان تو را بست؟» سامسون جواب داد: «اگر هفت حلقهٔ موی سر مرا، با نخ به هم ببافند و با یک میخ محکم ببندند، آنگاه من ضعیف و مثل مردان عادی می‌شوم.»

¹⁴And she fastened it with the pin, and said unto him, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awaked out of his sleep, and went away with the pin of the beam, and with the web.

¹⁴ پس وقتی‌که سامسون خواب بود، دلیله هفت حلقهٔ موی او با نخ به هم بافت و با میخ محکم بست و به او گفت: «سامسون، فلسطینیان برای دستگیری‌ تو آمده‌اند.» سامسون بیدار شد و میخ را از موی خود کشید و موی خود را باز کرد.

¹⁵And she said unto him, How canst thou say, I love thee, when thine heart is not with me? thou hast mocked me these three times, and hast not told me wherein thy great strength lieth.

¹⁵ دلیله به او گفت: «چرا می‌گویی که مرا دوست داری، درحالی‌که به من راست نمی‌گویی؟ تو سه بار مرا مسخره کردی و نگفتی که رمز قدرت تو در چیست.»

¹⁶And it came to pass, when she pressed him daily with her words, and urged him, so that his soul was vexed unto death;

¹⁶ چون دلیله هر روز اصرار می‌کرد و بر او فشار می‌آورد تا حدّی که از دست او به ستوه آمده بود،

¹⁷That he told her all his heart, and said unto her, There hath not come a razor upon mine head; for I have been a Nazarite unto God from my mother's womb: if I be shaven, then my strength will go from me, and I shall become weak, and be like any other man.

¹⁷ پس راز خود را برای او بیان کرده گفت: «تا حال هیچ تیغ سلمانی به سرم نخورده است. از همان وقتی‌که در شکم مادر بودم، وقف و نذر خداوند شدم. اگر موی سرم را بتراشند، قدرتم را از دست می‌دهم، ضعیف و مثل مردان دیگر می‌شوم.»

¹⁸And when Delilah saw that he had told her all his heart, she sent and called for the lords of the Philistines, saying, Come up this once, for he hath showed me all his heart. Then the lords of the Philistines came up unto her, and brought money in their hand.

¹⁸ وقتی دلیله از راز او آگاه شد، به بزرگان فلسطینی خبر داده گفت: «فوراً اینجا بیایید، زیرا سامسون راز خود را به من بیان کرد.» پس آنها با پولی که وعده داده بودند، پیش دلیله آمدند.

¹⁹And she made him sleep upon her knees; and she called for a man, and she caused him to shave off the seven locks of his head; and she began to afflict him, and his strength went from him.

¹⁹ دلیله سر او را روی زانوی خود نهاده، او را خوابانید و کسی را صدا کرد و هفت گیسوی او را تراشید و با این ترتیب، او را ناتوان و درمانده کرد.

²⁰And she said, The Philistines be upon thee, Samson. And he awoke out of his sleep, and said, I will go out as at other times before, and shake myself. And he wist not that the LORD was departed from him.

²⁰ پس به او گفت: «سامسون، فلسطینیان برای دستگیری‌ تو آمده‌اند!» سامسون از خواب بیدار شد و با خود فکر کرد: «مانند گذشته، با یک تکان خود را آزاد می‌سازم.» امّا نمی‌دانست که خداوند او را ترک کرده بود.

²¹But the Philistines took him, and put out his eyes, and brought him down to Gaza, and bound him with fetters of brass; and he did grind in the prison house.

²¹ فلسطینیان او را دستگیر کردند. چشمانش را از کاسه درآوردند و او را به غزه بردند. در آنجا او را به زنجیرهای برنزی بستند و در زندان انداختند و وادارش کردند که گندم دستاس کند.

²²Howbeit the hair of his head began to grow again after he was shaven.

²² امّا بعد از مدّتی موی سرش دوباره بلند شد.

²³Then the lords of the Philistines gathered them together for to offer a great sacrifice unto Dagon their god, and to rejoice: for they said, Our god hath delivered Samson our enemy into our hand.

²³ بزرگان فلسطینی جمع شدند تا در طی مراسمی برای خدای خود «داجون» قربانی کنند. پس با شکرگزاری می‌گفتند: «خدای ما، دشمن ما یعنی سامسون را به دست ما تسلیم کرد.»

²⁴And when the people saw him, they praised their god: for they said, Our god hath delivered into our hands our enemy, and the destroyer of our country, which slew many of us.

²⁴ آنها خوشحال بودند و گفتند: «سامسون را صدا کنید تا ما را سرگرم کند.» وقتی سامسون را از زندان بیرون آوردند تا آنها را سرگرم کند، او را بین دو ستون قرار دادند. وقتی مردم او را دیدند، خدای خود را سرودند: «خدای ما، ما را بر دشمنانمان پیروز نموده است، کسی‌که سرزمین ما را ویران کرد و بسیاری از ما را کشت.»

²⁵And it came to pass, when their hearts were merry, that they said, Call for Samson, that he may make us sport. And they called for Samson out of the prison house; and he made them sport: and they set him between the pillars.

²⁵ سامسون به پسر جوانی که دست او را گرفته بود گفت: «بگذار تا ستونهای خانه را لمس کرده، به آنها تکیه کنم.»

²⁶And Samson said unto the lad that held him by the hand, Suffer me that I may feel the pillars whereupon the house standeth, that I may lean upon them.

²⁶ آن خانه پُر از مرد و زن بود. و تمام بزرگان فلسطینی در آنجا حضور داشتند. در بالای آن خانه هم در حدود سه هزار نفر مرد و زن جمع شده بودند و نمایش سامسون را تماشا می‌کردند.

²⁷Now the house was full of men and women; and all the lords of the Philistines were there; and there were upon the roof about three thousand men and women, that beheld while Samson made sport.

²⁷ سامسون به درگاه خداوند دعا کرد و گفت: «خداوندا، خدای ما! از تو خواهش می‌کنم که مرا فراموش نکنی. به من نیرو ببخش! این آخرین تقاضای من به درگاه توست، ای خدای من، تا انتقام یکی از چشمان خود را از این فلسطینیان بگیرم.»

²⁸And Samson called unto the LORD, and said, O Lord God, remember me, I pray thee, and strengthen me, I pray thee, only this once, O God, that I may be at once avenged of the Philistines for my two eyes.

²⁸ آنگاه سامسون بر دو ستون وسطی که تمام خانه بر آنها قرار داشت با دو دست خود فشار آورد

²⁹And Samson took hold of the two middle pillars upon which the house stood, and on which it was borne up, of the one with his right hand, and of the other with his left.

²⁹ و گفت: «بگذار با فلسطینیان بمیرم.» بعد با تمام قدرت، دو ستون را از جا کَند و سقف خانه بر سر بزرگان فلسطینی و همهٔ کسانی‌که در آنجا بودند، افتاد. به این ترتیب تعداد کسانی را که سامسون در وقت مُردن خود کشت، زیادتر از تعداد کسانی بود که در دوران زندگی خود کشته بود. بعد برادران و خانواده‌اش آمدند و جنازهٔ او را برداشته، در آرامگاه پدرش مانوح که بین صُرعه و اَشتاول واقع بود، دفن کردند. سامسون مدّت بیست سال بر اسرائیل حکومت کرد.

³⁰And Samson said, Let me die with the Philistines. And he bowed himself with all his might; and the house fell upon the lords, and upon all the people that were therein. So the dead which he slew at his death were more than they which he slew in his life.

³⁰ بعد برادران و خانواده‌اش آمدند و جنازهٔ او را برداشته، در آرامگاه پدرش مانوح که بین صُرعه و اَشتاول واقع بود، دفن کردند. سامسون مدّت بیست سال بر اسرائیل حکومت کرد.

³¹Then his brethren and all the house of his father came down, and took him, and brought him up, and buried him between Zorah and Eshtaol in the buryingplace of Manoah his father. And he judged Israel twenty years.
