¹And it came to pass, that, as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret,

¹ یک روز عیسی در كنار دریاچهٔ جنیسارت ایستاده بود و مردم به طرف او هجوم آورده بودند تا كلام خدا را از زبان او بشنوند.

²And saw two ships standing by the lake: but the fishermen were gone out of them, and were washing their nets.

² عیسی ملاحظه كرد كه دو قایق در آنجا لنگر انداخته‌اند و ماهیگیران پیاده شده بودند تا تورهای خود را بشویند.

³And he entered into one of the ships, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the ship.

³ عیسی به یكی از قایقها كه متعلّق به شمعون بود سوار شد و از او تقاضا كرد كه كمی از ساحل دور شود و درحالی‌که در قایق نشسته بود، به تعلیم مردم پرداخت.

⁴Now when he had left speaking, he said unto Simon, Launch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught.

⁴ در پایان صحبت به شمعون گفت: «به قسمت‌های عمیق آب بران و تورهایتان را برای صید به آب بیندازید.»

⁵And Simon answering said unto him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing: nevertheless at thy word I will let down the net.

⁵ شمعون جواب داد: «ای استاد، ما تمام شب زحمت كشیدیم و اصلاً چیزی نگرفتیم، امّا حالا كه تو می‌فرمایی، من تورها را می‌اندازم.»

⁶And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake.

⁶ آنها چنین كردند و آن‌قدر ماهی صید كردند كه نزدیک بود تورهایشان پاره شود.

⁷And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the ships, so that they began to sink.

⁷ پس به همكاران خود كه در قایق دیگر بودند اشاره كردند كه به كمک آنان بیایند. ایشان آمدند و هر دو قایق را از ماهی پر كردند به طوری که نزدیک بود غرق شوند.

⁸When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord.

⁸ وقتی شمعون پطرس متوجّه شد كه چه اتّفاقی افتاده است، پیش عیسی زانو زد و عرض كرد: «ای خداوند، از پیش من برو چون من خطاكارم.»

⁹For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken:

⁹ او و همهٔ همكارانش از صیدی كه شده بود، متحیّر بودند.

¹⁰And so was also James, and John, the sons of Zebedee, which were partners with Simon. And Jesus said unto Simon, Fear not; from henceforth thou shalt catch men.

¹⁰ همكاران او یعقوب و یوحنا، پسران زِبدی نیز همان حال را داشتند. عیسی به شمعون فرمود: «نترس؛ از این پس مردم را صید خواهی كرد.»

¹¹And when they had brought their ships to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

¹¹ به محض اینكه قایقها را به خشكی آوردند، همه‌چیز را رها كردند و به دنبال او رفتند.

¹²And it came to pass, when he was in a certain city, behold a man full of leprosy: who seeing Jesus fell on his face, and besought him, saying, Lord, if thou wilt, thou canst make me clean.

¹² روزی عیسی در شهری بود، از قضا مردی جذامی در آنجا حضور داشت. وقتی آن جذامی عیسی را دید به پای او افتاد و از او كمک خواسته گفت: «ای آقا، اگر بخواهی می‌توانی مرا پاک كنی.»

¹³And he put forth his hand, and touched him, saying, I will: be thou clean. And immediately the leprosy departed from him.

¹³ عیسی دست خود را دراز كرد، او را لمس نمود و فرمود: «می‌خواهم، پاک شو.» فوراً جذام او بر طرف شد.

¹⁴And he charged him to tell no man: but go, and shew thyself to the priest, and offer for thy cleansing, according as Moses commanded, for a testimony unto them.

¹⁴ عیسی به او امر فرمود كه این موضوع را به كسی نگوید و افزود: «امّا برو خود را به كاهن نشان بده و به‌خاطر پاک شدنت قربانی‌ای را كه موسی معیّن نموده است، تقدیم كن تا برای همه مدركی باشد.»

¹⁵But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities.

¹⁵ امّا عیسی بیش از پیش در تمام آن نواحی شهرت یافت و عدّهٔ زیادی گرد آمدند تا سخنان او را بشنوند و از نا‌خوشی‌های خود شفا یابند،

¹⁶And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.

¹⁶ امّا او به خارج از شهر می‌رفت تا در تنهایی دعا كند.

¹⁷And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, which were come out of every town of Galilee, and Judaea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

¹⁷ روزی عیسی مشغول تعلیم بود و پیروان فرقهٔ فریسی و آموزگاران شریعت كه از تمام روستاهای جلیل و از یهودیه و اورشلیم آمده بودند، در اطراف او نشسته بودند و او با قدرت خداوند بیماران را شفا می‌داد.

¹⁸And, behold, men brought in a bed a man which was taken with a palsy: and they sought means to bring him in, and to lay him before him.

¹⁸ در این هنگام چند مرد دیده شدند كه مفلوجی را روی تختی می‌آوردند. آنها سعی می‌کردند او را به داخل بیاورند و در برابر عیسی به زمین بگذارند.

¹⁹And when they could not find by what way they might bring him in because of the multitude, they went upon the housetop, and let him down through the tiling with his couch into the midst before Jesus.

¹⁹ امّا به علّت كثرت جمعیّت نتوانستند راهی پیدا كنند كه او را به داخل آوردند. بنابراین به بام رفتند و او را با تشک از میان سفالهای سقف پایین گذاشتند و در وسط جمعیّت در برابر عیسی قرار دادند.

²⁰And when he saw their faith, he said unto him, Man, thy sins are forgiven thee.

²⁰ عیسی وقتی ایمان آنها را دید فرمود: «ای دوست، گناهان تو بخشیده شد.»

²¹And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins, but God alone?

²¹ علما و فریسیان به یكدیگر می‌گفتند: «این كیست كه حرفهای كفرآمیز می‌زند؟ چه کسی جز خدا می‌تواند گناهان را ببخشد؟»

²²But when Jesus perceived their thoughts, he answering said unto them, What reason ye in your hearts?

²² امّا عیسی افكار آنان را درک كرد و در جواب فرمود: «چرا چنین افكاری را در ذهن خود می‌پرورانید؟

²³Whether is easier, to say, Thy sins be forgiven thee; or to say, Rise up and walk?

²³ آیا گفتن اینكه گناهان تو بخشیده شد، آسانتر است یا گفتن اینكه بلند شو و راه برو؟

²⁴But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power upon earth to forgive sins, (he said unto the sick of the palsy,) I say unto thee, Arise, and take up thy couch, and go into thine house.

²⁴ امّا برای اینكه بدانید پسر انسان در روی زمین قدرت و اختیار آمرزیدن گناهان را دارد، به آن مرد مفلوج گفت: به تو می‌گویم بلند شو، تشک خود را بردار و به خانه برو.»

²⁵And immediately he rose up before them, and took up that whereon he lay, and departed to his own house, glorifying God.

²⁵ او فوراً پیش چشم آنان روی پاهای خود برخاست، تشكی را كه روی آن خوابیده بود برداشت و خدا را حمدگویان به خانه رفت.

²⁶And they were all amazed, and they glorified God, and were filled with fear, saying, We have seen strange things to day.

²⁶ همه غرق در حیرت شدند و خدا را حمد كردند و با ترس می‌گفتند: «امروز چیزهای عجیبی دیدیم.»

²⁷And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican, named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said unto him, Follow me.

²⁷ بعد از آنكه عیسی بیرون رفت متوجّه باجگیری به نام لاوی شد كه در محل دریافت باج نشسته بود. به او فرمود: «به دنبال من بیا.»

²⁸And he left all, rose up, and followed him.

²⁸ او برخاست، همه‌چیز را واگذاشت و به دنبال او رفت.

²⁹And Levi made him a great feast in his own house: and there was a great company of publicans and of others that sat down with them.

²⁹ لاوی برای عیسی در خانهٔ خود مهمانی بزرگی ترتیب داد. عدّهٔ زیادی از باجگیران و اشخاص دیگر با عیسی و شاگردانش سر سفره نشسته بودند.

³⁰But their scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

³⁰ فریسیان و علمای آنها از شاگردان عیسی ایراد گرفتند و گفتند: «چرا شما با باجگیران و خطاكاران می‌خورید و می‌نوشید؟»

³¹And Jesus answering said unto them, They that are whole need not a physician; but they that are sick.

³¹ عیسی به آنان جواب داد: «تندرستان احتیاج به طبیب ندارند بلكه بیماران.

³²I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

³² من نیامده‌ام تا پرهیزکاران را به توبه دعوت كنم بلكه آمده‌ام تا خطا‌كاران را دعوت نمایم.»

³³And they said unto him, Why do the disciples of John fast often, and make prayers, and likewise the disciples of the Pharisees; but thine eat and drink?

³³ آنان به او گفتند: «شاگردان یحیی اغلب اوقات روزه می‌گیرند و نماز می‌گزارند، شاگردان فریسیان هم، چنین می‌کنند، امّا شاگردان تو می‌خورند و می‌نوشند.»

³⁴And he said unto them, Can ye make the children of the bridechamber fast, while the bridegroom is with them?

³⁴ عیسی به ایشان پاسخ داد «آیا شما می‌توانید دوستان داماد را درحالی‌که داماد با ایشان است به روزه گرفتن مجبور كنید؟

³⁵But the days will come, when the bridegroom shall be taken away from them, and then shall they fast in those days.

³⁵ امّا زمانی می‌آید كه داماد از ایشان گرفته خواهد شد، در آن روزها ایشان نیز روزه خواهند گرفت.»

³⁶And he spake also a parable unto them; No man putteth a piece of a new garment upon an old; if otherwise, then both the new maketh a rent, and the piece that was taken out of the new agreeth not with the old.

³⁶ همچنین برای آنان این مَثَل را بیان فرمود: «هیچ‌کس از یک لباس نو تکه‌ای پاره نمی‌کند تا با آن لباس كهنه‌ای را وصله كند. اگر چنین كند، هم آن لباس نو پاره می‌شود و هم وصلهٔ نو مناسب لباس كهنه نیست.

³⁷And no man putteth new wine into old bottles; else the new wine will burst the bottles, and be spilled, and the bottles shall perish.

³⁷ همچنین هیچ‌کس شراب تازه را در مشكهای كهنه نمی‌ریزد. اگر بریزد، شراب تازه مشکها را می‌تركاند، شراب به هدر می‌رود و مشكها نیز از بین خواهند رفت.

³⁸But new wine must be put into new bottles; and both are preserved.

³⁸ آری، باید شراب تازه را در مشكهای نو ریخت. هیچ‌کس پس از نوشیدن شراب كهنه، شراب تازه نمی‌خواهد چون می‌گوید كه شراب كهنه بهتر است.»

³⁹No man also having drunk old wine straightway desireth new: for he saith, The old is better.

³⁹ هیچ‌کس پس از نوشیدن شراب كهنه، شراب تازه نمی‌خواهد چون می‌گوید كه شراب كهنه بهتر است.»
