¹And when he had called unto him his twelve disciples, he gave them power against unclean spirits, to cast them out, and to heal all manner of sickness and all manner of disease.

¹ عیسی دوازده حواری را پیش خود خواند و به آنان قدرت داد تا ارواح پلید را بیرون كنند و هر نوع بیماری و مرض را شفا بخشند.

²Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

² این است اسامی آن دوازده رسول: اول شمعون معروف به پطرس و برادرش اندریاس، یعقوب فرزند زبدی و برادرش یوحنا،

³Philip, and Bartholomew; Thomas, and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alphaeus, and Lebbaeus, whose surname was Thaddaeus;

³ فیلیپُس و برتولما، توما و متای باجگیر، یعقوب پسر حلفی و تدی،

⁴Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Iscariot, who also betrayed him.

⁴ شمعون غیور و یهودای اسخریوطی كه عیسی را به دست دشمنان تسلیم كرد.

⁵These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, saying, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into any city of the Samaritans enter ye not:

⁵ عیسی این دوازده نفر را به مأموریت فرستاده به آنها گفت: «از سرزمینهای غیر یهود عبور نكنید و به هیچ‌یک از شهرهای سامریان وارد نشوید،

⁶But go rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.

⁶ بلكه نزد گوسفندان گمشدهٔ قوم اسرائیل بروید

⁷And as ye go, preach, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

⁷ و در بین راه اعلام كنید كه پادشاهی آسمان نزدیک است.

⁸Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out devils: freely ye have received, freely give.

⁸ بیماران را شفا دهید، مردگان را زنده كنید، جذامیان را پاک سازید و دیوها را بیرون كنید. مُفت یافته‌اید، مُفت بدهید.

⁹Provide neither gold, nor silver, nor brass in your purses,

⁹ برای سفر، طلا و نقره و مس با خود نبرید.

¹⁰Nor scrip for your journey, neither two coats, neither shoes, nor yet staves: for the workman is worthy of his meat.

¹⁰ و کوله‌بار یا پیراهن اضافی و كفش و چوب دستی برندارید، چون كارگر مستحق معاش خود می‌باشد.

¹¹And into whatsoever city or town ye shall enter, enquire who in it is worthy; and there abide till ye go thence.

¹¹ «به هر شهر و روستایی كه وارد می‌شوید دنبال كسی بگردید كه شایسته باشد و تا زمانی‌که در آنجا هستید در منزل او بمانید.

¹²And when ye come into an house, salute it.

¹² وقتی به خانه‌ای وارد می‌شوید سلام بگویید.

¹³And if the house be worthy, let your peace come upon it: but if it be not worthy, let your peace return to you.

¹³ اگر آن خانواده لایق آن باشد سلام شما بر آنها قرار می‌گیرد و اگر شایسته نباشد، سلام شما به خودتان برمی‌گردد.

¹⁴And whosoever shall not receive you, nor hear your words, when ye depart out of that house or city, shake off the dust of your feet.

¹⁴ اگر کسی شما را نپذیرد و یا به آنچه می‌گویید گوش ندهد، وقتی‌که آن خانه یا آن شهر را ترک می‌کنید، گرد و خاک آن را از پای خود بتكانید.

¹⁵Verily I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom and Gomorrha in the day of judgment, than for that city.

¹⁵ بدانید كه در روز قیامت حالت سدوم و غموره از آن شهر بهتر خواهد بود.

¹⁶Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves: be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

¹⁶ «خوب توجّه كنید، من شما را مانند گوسفندان به میان گرگها می‌فرستم. شما باید مثل مار هوشیار و مانند كبوتر، بی‌آزار باشید.

¹⁷But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues;

¹⁷ مواظب باشید، زیرا مردم شما را تحویل دادگاهها خواهند داد، و شما را در کنیسه‌ها تازیانه خواهند زد

¹⁸And ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.

¹⁸ و شما را به‌خاطر من پیش فرمانروایان و پادشاهان خواهند برد تا در برابر آنان و ملل بیگانه شهادت دهید.

¹⁹But when they deliver you up, take no thought how or what ye shall speak: for it shall be given you in that same hour what ye shall speak.

¹⁹ امّا وقتی شما را دستگیر می‌کنند، نگران نباشید كه چه چیز و چطور بگویید چون در همان وقت آنچه باید بگویید به شما داده خواهد شد،

²⁰For it is not ye that speak, but the Spirit of your Father which speaketh in you.

²⁰ زیرا گوینده شما نیستید، بلكه روح پدر آسمانی شماست كه در شما سخن می‌گوید.

²¹And the brother shall deliver up the brother to death, and the father the child: and the children shall rise up against their parents, and cause them to be put to death.

²¹ «برادر، برادر را و پدر، فرزند را تسلیم مرگ خواهد نمود. فرزندان علیه والدین خود برخواهند خاست و باعث كشتن آنها خواهند شد.

²²And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end shall be saved.

²² همهٔ مردم به‌خاطر نام من كه شما بر خود دارید، از شما متنفّر خواهند بود، امّا کسی‌که تا آخر ثابت بماند نجات خواهد یافت.

²³But when they persecute you in this city, flee ye into another: for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come.

²³ هرگاه شما را در شهری آزار می‌رسانند به شهر دیگر پناهنده شوید. بدانید كه پیش از آنكه به تمام شهرهای اسرائیل بروید، پسر انسان خواهد آمد.

²⁴The disciple is not above his master, nor the servant above his lord.

²⁴ «شاگرد از معلّم خود و خادم از ارباب خویش بالاتر نیست.

²⁵It is enough for the disciple that he be as his master, and the servant as his lord. If they have called the master of the house Beelzebub, how much more shall they call them of his household?

²⁵ شاگرد می‌خواهد به مقام معلّم خود برسد و خادم به مقام ارباب خویش. اگر پدر خانه را بعلزبول -‌رئیس شیاطین- بخوانند، چه نسبت‌های بدتری به اهل خانه‌اش خواهند داد.

²⁶Fear them not therefore: for there is nothing covered, that shall not be revealed; and hid, that shall not be known.

²⁶ «پس از آنها نترسید، هرچه پوشیده است، پرده از روی آن برداشته می‌شود و هرچه پنهان است آشكار خواهد شد.

²⁷What I tell you in darkness, that speak ye in light: and what ye hear in the ear, that preach ye upon the housetops.

²⁷ آنچه را من در تاریكی به شما می‌گویم، باید در روز روشن اعلام كنید و آنچه را محرمانه می‌شنوید، باید در بام خانه‌ها با صدای بلند بگویید.

²⁸And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.

²⁸ از کسانی‌که جسم را می‌كشند ولی قادر به كشتن جان نیستند نترسید. از کسی بترسید كه قادر است جسم و جان، هر دو را در دوزخ تباه سازد.

²⁹Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father.

²⁹ آیا دو گنجشک به یک ریال فروخته نمی‌شود؟ با وجود این، بدون اجازهٔ پدر آسمانی شما حتّی یكی از آنها به زمین نخواهد افتاد.

³⁰But the very hairs of your head are all numbered.

³⁰ و امّا در مورد شما، حتّی موهای سر شما شمرده شده است.

³¹Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.

³¹ پس نترسید، شما از گنجشک‌های بی‌شمار بیشتر ارزش دارید.

³²Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I confess also before my Father which is in heaven.

³² «پس هرکس در برابر مردم، خود را از آن من بداند من نیز در برابر پدر آسمانی خود او را از آن خود خواهم دانست.

³³But whosoever shall deny me before men, him will I also deny before my Father which is in heaven.

³³ امّا هرکه در برابر مردم بگوید كه مرا نمی‌شناسد من نیز در حضور پدر آسمانی خود خواهم گفت كه او را نمی‌شناسم.

³⁴Think not that I am come to send peace on earth: I came not to send peace, but a sword.

³⁴ «گمان نكنید كه آمده‌ام تا صلح به زمین بیاورم، نیامده‌ام كه صلح بیاورم بلكه شمشیر.

³⁵For I am come to set a man at variance against his father, and the daughter against her mother, and the daughter in law against her mother in law.

³⁵ من آمده‌ام تا در میان پسر و پدر، دختر و مادر، عروس و مادر شوهر اختلاف بیندازم.

³⁶And a man's foes shall be they of his own household.

³⁶ دشمنان شخص، اعضای خانوادهٔ خود او خواهند بود.

³⁷He that loveth father or mother more than me is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me.

³⁷ «هرکه پدر یا مادر خود را بیشتر از من دوست داشته باشد، لایق من نیست و هر كسی دختر یا پسر خود را بیش از من دوست بدارد، لایق من نمی‌باشد.

³⁸And he that taketh not his cross, and followeth after me, is not worthy of me.

³⁸ هرکه صلیب خود را برندارد و به دنبال من نیاید، لایق من نیست.

³⁹He that findeth his life shall lose it: and he that loseth his life for my sake shall find it.

³⁹ هرکس فقط در فكر زندگی خود باشد، آن را از دست خواهد داد؛ ولی کسی‌که به‌خاطر من زندگی خود را از دست بدهد، زندگی او در امان خواهد بود.

⁴⁰He that receiveth you receiveth me, and he that receiveth me receiveth him that sent me.

⁴⁰ «هرکه شما را بپذیرد، مرا پذیرفته و هرکه مرا بپذیرد فرستندهٔ مرا پذیرفته است.

⁴¹He that receiveth a prophet in the name of a prophet shall receive a prophet's reward; and he that receiveth a righteous man in the name of a righteous man shall receive a righteous man's reward.

⁴¹ هرکس نبی را به‌خاطر اینكه نبی است بپذیرد، اجر یک نبی را به دست خواهد آورد و هرکس شخص نیكوكاری را به‌خاطر اینكه نیكوكار است بپذیرد، اجر یک نیكوكار را خواهد یافت. یقین بدانید كه هرگاه کسی به یكی از كوچكترین پیروان من، به خاطر اینكه پیرو من است، حتّی یک جُرعه آب سرد بدهد، به هیچ وجه بی‌اجر نخواهد ماند.»

⁴²And whosoever shall give to drink unto one of these little ones a cup of cold water only in the name of a disciple, verily I say unto you, he shall in no wise lose his reward.

⁴² یقین بدانید كه هرگاه کسی به یكی از كوچكترین پیروان من، به خاطر اینكه پیرو من است، حتّی یک جُرعه آب سرد بدهد، به هیچ وجه بی‌اجر نخواهد ماند.»
