¹At that time Jesus went on the sabbath day through the corn; and his disciples were an hungred, and began to pluck the ears of corn and to eat.

¹ در آن زمان عیسی در یک روز سبت از میان مزارع گندم می‌گذشت و چون شاگردانش گرسنه بودند شروع به چیدن خوشه‌های گندم و خوردن آنها كردند.

²But when the Pharisees saw it, they said unto him, Behold, thy disciples do that which is not lawful to do upon the sabbath day.

² فریسیان این را دیده به او گفتند: «نگاه كن شاگردان تو كاری می‌کنند كه در روز سبت جایز نیست.»

³But he said unto them, Have ye not read what David did, when he was an hungred, and they that were with him;

³ او در جواب فرمود: «آیا شما آنچه را كه داوود وقتی خودش و یارانش گرسنه بودند انجام داد نخوانده‌اید؟

⁴How he entered into the house of God, and did eat the shewbread, which was not lawful for him to eat, neither for them which were with him, but only for the priests?

⁴ چگونه او به خانهٔ خدا وارد شد و نانهای تقدیس شده را خورد، حال آنكه خوردن آن نانها، هم برای او و هم برای یارانش ممنوع بود و فقط كاهنان اجازهٔ خوردن آن را داشتند.

⁵Or have ye not read in the law, how that on the sabbath days the priests in the temple profane the sabbath, and are blameless?

⁵ آیا در تورات نخوانده‌اید كه كاهنان با اینكه در روز سبت در معبد بزرگ، قانون سبت را می‌شكنند مقصّر نیستند؟

⁶But I say unto you, That in this place is one greater than the temple.

⁶ بدانید كه شخصی بزرگتر از معبد بزرگ در اینجاست.

⁷But if ye had known what this meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice, ye would not have condemned the guiltless.

⁷ اگر شما معنی این جمله را می‌دانستید كه می‌گوید: 'رحمت می‌خواهم نه قربانی،' افراد بی‌گناه را محكوم نمی‌کردید.

⁸For the Son of man is Lord even of the sabbath day.

⁸ زیرا پسر انسان صاحب اختیار روز سبت است.»

⁹And when he was departed thence, he went into their synagogue:

⁹ پس از آنكه عیسی به شهر دیگری رفت و به كنیسهٔ آنان وارد شد.

¹⁰And, behold, there was a man which had his hand withered. And they asked him, saying, Is it lawful to heal on the sabbath days? that they might accuse him.

¹⁰ مردی در آنجا بود كه یک دستش فلج شده بود. عدّه‌ای از حاضرین از عیسی سؤال كردند: «آیا شفا دادن در روز سبت جایز است؟» البتّه مقصود آنها این بود، كه اتّهامی علیه او پیدا كنند.

¹¹And he said unto them, What man shall there be among you, that shall have one sheep, and if it fall into a pit on the sabbath day, will he not lay hold on it, and lift it out?

¹¹ امّا عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «فرض كنید كه یكی از شما گوسفندی دارد كه در روز سبت به گودالی می‌افتد. آیا آن گوسفند را نمی‌گیرید و از گودال بیرون نمی‌آورید؟

¹²How much then is a man better than a sheep? Wherefore it is lawful to do well on the sabbath days.

¹² مگر انسان از گوسفند بمراتب عزیزتر نیست؟ بنابراین، انجام كارهای نیكو در روز سبت جایز است.»

¹³Then saith he to the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it forth; and it was restored whole, like as the other.

¹³ سپس عیسی به آن مرد رو كرده فرمود: «دستت را دراز كن.» او دست خود را دراز كرد و مانند دست دیگرش سالم شد.

¹⁴Then the Pharisees went out, and held a council against him, how they might destroy him.

¹⁴ آنگاه فریسیان از كنیسه بیرون رفتند و برای كشتن عیسی توطئه چیدند.

¹⁵But when Jesus knew it, he withdrew himself from thence: and great multitudes followed him, and he healed them all;

¹⁵ امّا وقتی عیسی از ماجرا باخبر شد، آنجا را ترک كرد ولی جمعیّت زیادی به دنبال او رفتند و او همهٔ بیماران را شفا بخشید

¹⁶And charged them that they should not make him known:

¹⁶ و به آنها دستور داد كه دربارهٔ او با کسی صحبت نكنند

¹⁷That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying,

¹⁷ تا به این وسیله پیشگویی اشعیای نبی تحقّق یابد كه می‌فرماید:

¹⁸Behold my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall shew judgment to the Gentiles.

¹⁸ «این است بندهٔ من كه او را برگزیده‌ام او محبوب و مایهٔ شادی من است. او را از روح خود سرشار خواهم ساخت و او ملّتها را از كیفر الهی آگاه خواهد نمود.

¹⁹He shall not strive, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets.

¹⁹ او با کسی ستیزه نمی‌کند و فریاد نمی‌زند، و کسی صدای او را در کوچه‌ها نخواهد شنید.

²⁰A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory.

²⁰ نی خمیده را نخواهد شكست، و فتیلهٔ نیم سوخته را خاموش نخواهد كرد و خواهد كوشید تا عدالت پیروز شود.

²¹And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

²¹ او مایهٔ امید تمام ملّتها خواهد بود.»

²²Then was brought unto him one possessed with a devil, blind, and dumb: and he healed him, insomuch that the blind and dumb both spake and saw.

²² در این وقت مردم شخصی را پیش او آوردند كه دیوانه و كور و لال بود و عیسی او را شفا داد به طوری که او توانست هم حرف بزند و هم ببیند.

²³And all the people were amazed, and said, Is not this the son of David?

²³ مردم همه تعجّب كرده می‌گفتند: «آیا این فرزند داوود نیست؟»

²⁴But when the Pharisees heard it, they said, This fellow doth not cast out devils, but by Beelzebub the prince of the devils.

²⁴ امّا وقتی فریسیان این را شنیدند گفتند: «این مرد به كمک بعلزبول، رئیس شیاطین، دیوها را بیرون می‌کند.»

²⁵And Jesus knew their thoughts, and said unto them, Every kingdom divided against itself is brought to desolation; and every city or house divided against itself shall not stand:

²⁵ عیسی كه از افكار ایشان آگاه بود به آنان گفت: «هر كشوری كه به دسته‌های مختلف تقسیم شود رو به خرابی خواهد گذاشت و هر شهر یا خانه‌ای كه به دسته‌های مخالف تقسیم گردد، دوام نخواهد آورد.

²⁶And if Satan cast out Satan, he is divided against himself; how shall then his kingdom stand?

²⁶ و اگر شیطان، شیطان را بیرون كند و علیه خود تجزیه شود حكومت او چگونه پایدار بماند؟

²⁷And if I by Beelzebub cast out devils, by whom do your children cast them out? therefore they shall be your judges.

²⁷ و اگر من به كمک بعلزبول دیوها را بیرون می‌کنم، فرزندان شما با كمک چه کسی آنها را بیرون می‌کنند؟ آنها دربارهٔ حرفهای شما قضاوت خواهند كرد.

²⁸But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

²⁸ امّا اگر من به وسیلهٔ روح خدا دیوها را بیرون می‌کنم، این نشان می‌دهد كه پادشاهی خدا به شما نزدیک شده است

²⁹Or else how can one enter into a strong man's house, and spoil his goods, except he first bind the strong man? and then he will spoil his house.

²⁹ یا چگونه کسی می‌تواند به خانهٔ مرد زورمندی وارد شود و اموال او را تاراج كند جز آنكه اول دست و پای آن مرد را ببندد و آن وقت خانهٔ او را غارت كند؟

³⁰He that is not with me is against me; and he that gathereth not with me scattereth abroad.

³⁰ «هرکه با من نیست برخلاف من است و هرکه با من جمع نمی‌کند پراكنده می‌سازد.

³¹Wherefore I say unto you, All manner of sin and blasphemy shall be forgiven unto men: but the blasphemy against the Holy Ghost shall not be forgiven unto men.

³¹ پس بدانید كه هر نوع گناه یا كفری كه انسان مرتكب شده باشد قابل آمرزش است، به جز كفری كه علیه روح‌القدس بگوید. این كفر آمرزیده نخواهد شد.

³²And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.

³² هرکس علیه پسر انسان سخنی بگوید آمرزیده خواهد شد، امّا برای کسی‌که علیه روح‌القدس سخن بگوید هیچ آمرزشی نیست، نه در این دنیا و نه در دنیای آینده.

³³Either make the tree good, and his fruit good; or else make the tree corrupt, and his fruit corrupt: for the tree is known by his fruit.

³³ «اگر میوهٔ خوب می‌خواهید، درخت شما باید خوب باشد، زیرا درخت بد میوهٔ بد به بار خواهد آورد. چونكه درخت را از میوه‌اش می‌شناسند.

³⁴O generation of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

³⁴ ای مارها، شما كه آدمهای شریری هستید، چگونه می‌توانید سخنان خوب بگویید؟ زیرا زبان از آنچه دل را پر ساخته است، سخن می‌گوید.

³⁵A good man out of the good treasure of the heart bringeth forth good things: and an evil man out of the evil treasure bringeth forth evil things.

³⁵ مرد نیكو از خزانهٔ نیكوی درون خویش، نیكی و مرد بد از خزانهٔ بد درون خود، بدی به بار می‌آورد.

³⁶But I say unto you, That every idle word that men shall speak, they shall give account thereof in the day of judgment.

³⁶ «بدانید كه در روز داوری همهٔ مردم باید جواب هر سخن بیهوده‌ای را كه گفته‌اند بدهند.

³⁷For by thy words thou shalt be justified, and by thy words thou shalt be condemned.

³⁷ زیرا بر طبق سخن خود یا تبرئه خواهی شد و یا محكوم.»

³⁸Then certain of the scribes and of the Pharisees answered, saying, Master, we would see a sign from thee.

³⁸ در این وقت عدّه‌ای از علما و فریسیان به عیسی گفتند: «ای استاد می‌خواهیم نشانه‌ای به ما نشان بدهی»

³⁹But he answered and said unto them, An evil and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas:

³⁹ او جواب داد: «نسل شریر و بی‌وفا نشانه‌ای می‌خواهند و تنها نشانه‌ای كه به آنها داده خواهد شد، نشانهٔ یونس نبی است.

⁴⁰For as Jonas was three days and three nights in the whale's belly; so shall the Son of man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.

⁴⁰ همان‌طور كه یونس سه روز و سه شب در شكم یک ماهی بزرگ ماند، پسر انسان نیز سه شبانه‌روز در دل زمین خواهد ماند.

⁴¹The men of Nineveh shall rise in judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: because they repented at the preaching of Jonas; and, behold, a greater than Jonas is here.

⁴¹ در روز داوری مردم نینوا برمی‌خیزند و مردم این زمانه را محكوم می‌كنند، زیرا مردم نینوا وقتی موعظهٔ یونس را شنیدند، توبه كردند. حال آنکه شخصی كه در اینجاست، از یونس بزرگتر است.

⁴²The queen of the south shall rise up in the judgment with this generation, and shall condemn it: for she came from the uttermost parts of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon; and, behold, a greater than Solomon is here.

⁴² ملكهٔ جنوب نیز در روز داوری برخاسته مردم این زمانه را محكوم خواهد ساخت، زیرا او از دورترین نقطهٔ جهان آمد تا حكمت سلیمان را بشنود و حال آنکه شخصی كه در اینجاست از سلیمان بزرگتر است.

⁴³When the unclean spirit is gone out of a man, he walketh through dry places, seeking rest, and findeth none.

⁴³ «وقتی روح پلید از شخصی بیرون می‌آید برای پیدا كردن جای راحت در بیابانهای خشک و بی‌آب سرگردان می‌شود و چون نمی‌یابد،

⁴⁴Then he saith, I will return into my house from whence I came out; and when he is come, he findeth it empty, swept, and garnished.

⁴⁴ با خود می‌گوید: 'به خانه‌ای كه آن را ترک كردم برمی‌گردم.' پس برمی‌گردد و آن خانه را خالی و جارو شده و منظّم و مرتّب می‌بیند.

⁴⁵Then goeth he, and taketh with himself seven other spirits more wicked than himself, and they enter in and dwell there: and the last state of that man is worse than the first. Even so shall it be also unto this wicked generation.

⁴⁵ آنگاه می‌رود و هفت روح شریرتر از خود را جمع می‌کند و می‌آورد و آنها همه آمده و در آنجا ساكن می‌شوند و عاقبتِ آن شخص از اولش بدتر می‌شود. وضع مردم شریر این زمانه هم همین‌طور خواهد بود.»

⁴⁶While he yet talked to the people, behold, his mother and his brethren stood without, desiring to speak with him.

⁴⁶ عیسی هنوز مشغول صحبت بود، كه مادر و برادرانش آمدند و در بیرون ایستاده می‌خواستند با او گفت‌وگو كنند.

⁴⁷Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee.

⁴⁷ پس شخصی به او گفت: «مادر و برادرانت بیرون ایستاده و می‌خواهند با تو صحبت كنند.»

⁴⁸But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren?

⁴⁸ عیسی گفت: «مادر من كیست؟ برادرانم كیانند؟»

⁴⁹And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

⁴⁹ و به شاگردان خود اشاره كرده فرمود: «اینها مادر و برادران من هستند. هرکه ارادهٔ پدر آسمانی مرا انجام دهد برادر من، خواهر من و مادر من است.»

⁵⁰For whosoever shall do the will of my Father which is in heaven, the same is my brother, and sister, and mother.

⁵⁰ هرکه ارادهٔ پدر آسمانی مرا انجام دهد برادر من، خواهر من و مادر من است.»
