¹The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

¹ فریسیان و صدوقیان جلو آمده از روی امتحان از عیسی خواستند كه نشانه‌ای به آنان نشان دهد.

²He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.

² عیسی در جواب آنها گفت: «در وقت غروب اگر آسمان سرخ باشد شما می‌گویید هوا خوب خواهد بود

³And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowering. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the signs of the times?

³ و اگر صبح زود آسمان سرخ و گرفته باشد می‌گویید باران خواهد بارید. شما كه می‌توانید با نگاه كردن به آسمان هوا را پیش‌بینی كنید چگونه نمی‌توانید معنی علایم و نشانه‌های این زمان را درک كنید؟

⁴A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

⁴ این نسل شریر و بی‌وفا جویای نشانه‌ای است و نشانه‌ای به جز نشانهٔ یونس نبی به ایشان داده نخواهد شد.» پس از آن عیسی آنها را ترک كرد و از آنجا رفت.

⁵And when his disciples were come to the other side, they had forgotten to take bread.

⁵ شاگردان به آن طرف دریا می‌رفتند ولی فراموش كرده بودند كه با خود نان ببرند.

⁶Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

⁶ پس وقتی عیسی به ایشان فرمود: «از خمیرمایهٔ فریسیان و صدوقیان برحذر باشید و احتیاط كنید.»

⁷And they reasoned among themselves, saying, It is because we have taken no bread.

⁷ آنها در بین خود صحبت كرده می‌گفتند: «‌چون ما نان همراه خود نیاورده‌ایم او چنین می‌گوید.»

⁸Which when Jesus perceived, he said unto them, O ye of little faith, why reason ye among yourselves, because ye have brought no bread?

⁸ عیسی این را درک كرد و به ایشان گفت: «ای كم‌ایمانان، چرا دربارهٔ نداشتن نان صحبت می‌کنید؟

⁹Do ye not yet understand, neither remember the five loaves of the five thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

⁹ آیا هنوز هم نمی‌فهمید؟ آیا پنج نان و پنج هزار مرد را به‌خاطر ندارید؟ چند زنبیل جمع كردید؟

¹⁰Neither the seven loaves of the four thousand, and how many baskets ye took up?

¹⁰ یا در مورد آن هفت نان و چهارهزار مرد، چند زنبیل جمع كردید؟

¹¹How is it that ye do not understand that I spake it not to you concerning bread, that ye should beware of the leaven of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees?

¹¹ چرا نمی‌توانید بفهمید كه من دربارهٔ نان صحبت نمی‌کردم؟ من فقط گفتم كه از خمیرمایهٔ فریسیان و صدوقیان احتیاط كنید.»

¹²Then understood they how that he bade them not beware of the leaven of bread, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees and of the Sadducees.

¹² آنگاه شاگردان فهمیدند كه عیسی از آنان می‌خواهد، كه از تعالیم فریسیان و صدوقیان احتیاط كنند، نه از خمیرمایهٔ نان.

¹³When Jesus came into the coasts of Caesarea Philippi, he asked his disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I the Son of man am?

¹³ وقتی عیسی به نواحی اطراف قیصریه فیلیپُس رسید از شاگردان خود پرسید: «به نظر مردم پسر انسان كیست؟»

¹⁴And they said, Some say that thou art John the Baptist: some, Elias; and others, Jeremias, or one of the prophets.

¹⁴ آنها جواب دادند: «بعضی‌ها می‌گویند یحیای تعمید‌دهنده است و عدّه‌ای می‌گویند: الیاس یا ارمیا و یا یكی از انبیاست.»

¹⁵He saith unto them, But whom say ye that I am?

¹⁵ عیسی پرسید: «شما مرا كه می‌دانید؟»

¹⁶And Simon Peter answered and said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

¹⁶ شمعون پطرس جواب داد: «تو مسیح، پسر خدای زنده هستی.»

¹⁷And Jesus answered and said unto him, Blessed art thou, Simon Barjona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.

¹⁷ آنگاه عیسی گفت: «ای شمعون پسر یونا، خوشا به حال تو! چون تو این را از انسان نیاموختی بلكه پدر آسمانی من آن را بر تو مكشوف ساخته است.

¹⁸And I say also unto thee, That thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church; and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

¹⁸ و به تو می‌گویم كه تو پطرس هستی و من بر این صخره كلیسای خود را بنا می‌کنم و نیروهای مرگ، هرگز بر آن چیره نخواهد شد

¹⁹And I will give unto thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

¹⁹ و كلیدهای پادشاهی آسمان را به تو می‌دهم، آنچه را كه تو در زمین منع كنی، در آسمان ممنوع خواهد شد و هرچه را كه بر زمین جایز بدانی در آسمان جایز دانسته خواهد شد.»

²⁰Then charged he his disciples that they should tell no man that he was Jesus the Christ.

²⁰ بعد از آن عیسی به شاگردان دستور داد به کسی نگویند كه او مسیح است.

²¹From that time forth began Jesus to shew unto his disciples, how that he must go unto Jerusalem, and suffer many things of the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day.

²¹ از آن زمان عیسی به آشكار ساختن این حقیقت پرداخت و به شاگردان خود گفت كه او می‌بایست به اورشلیم برود و در آنجا از مشایخ و سران كاهنان و علما رنج بسیار ببیند و كشته شود و روز سوم زنده گردد.

²²Then Peter took him, and began to rebuke him, saying, Be it far from thee, Lord: this shall not be unto thee.

²² امّا پطرس عیسی را به كناری كشید و با اعتراض به او گفت: «خدا نكند! خیر، خداوندا، هرگز برای تو چنین اتّفاقی نخواهد افتاد.»

²³But he turned, and said unto Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan: thou art an offence unto me: for thou savourest not the things that be of God, but those that be of men.

²³ عیسی برگشته به پطرس گفت: «دور شو ای شیطان! تو مانع راه من هستی و افكار تو افكار انسانی است، نه خدایی.»

²⁴Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

²⁴ سپس عیسی به شاگردان خود فرمود: «اگر کسی بخواهد پیرو من باشد باید دست از جان خود بشوید و صلیب خود را برداشته به دنبال من بیاید.

²⁵For whosoever will save his life shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake shall find it.

²⁵ زیرا هرکه بخواهد جان خود را حفظ كند آن را از دست می‌دهد، امّا هرکه به‌خاطر من جان خود را فدا كند آن را نگاه خواهد داشت.

²⁶For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

²⁶ برای انسان چه سودی دارد كه تمام جهان را ببرد، امّا جان خود را از دست بدهد؟ زیرا او دیگر به هیچ قیمتی نمی‌تواند آن را باز یابد.

²⁷For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.

²⁷ پسر انسان با جلال پدر خود همراه با فرشتگان می‌آید و به هرکس بر طبق کارهایش پاداش می‌دهد. بدانید كه بعضی از کسانی‌که اكنون اینجا ایستاده‌اند تا آمدن پسر انسان را به صورت یک پادشاه نبینند، نخواهند مرد.»

²⁸Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom.

²⁸ بدانید كه بعضی از کسانی‌که اكنون اینجا ایستاده‌اند تا آمدن پسر انسان را به صورت یک پادشاه نبینند، نخواهند مرد.»
