¹And I said, Hear, I pray you, O heads of Jacob, and ye princes of the house of Israel; Is it not for you to know judgment?

¹ ای رهبران اسرائیل، بشنوید! شما باید مفهوم عدالت را بدانید،

²Who hate the good, and love the evil; who pluck off their skin from off them, and their flesh from off their bones;

² امّا برعکس، شما از خوبی نفرت و بدی را دوست ‌دارید. پوست قوم مرا می‌کنید و گوشتی بر استخوان آنها باقی نمی‌گذارید.

³Who also eat the flesh of my people, and flay their skin from off them; and they break their bones, and chop them in pieces, as for the pot, and as flesh within the caldron.

³ گوشت آنها را می‌خورید، پوست آنها را از بدنشان جدا کرده استخوانهایشان را تکه‌تکه می‌کنید و مثل گوشت در دیگ می‌اندازید.

⁴Then shall they cry unto the LORD, but he will not hear them: he will even hide his face from them at that time, as they have behaved themselves ill in their doings.

⁴ آنگاه به درگاه خداوند دعا می‌کنید، ولی او دعای شما را نمی‌شنود و چون مرتکب کارهای زشت شده‌اید روی خود را از شما برمی‌گرداند.

⁵Thus saith the LORD concerning the prophets that make my people err, that bite with their teeth, and cry, Peace; and he that putteth not into their mouths, they even prepare war against him.

⁵ خداوند می‌فرماید: «ای انبیا، شما قوم مرا گمراه کرده‌اید. کسی‌که به شما پول می‌دهد برایش دعای خیر می‌کنید و کسی را که پول نمی‌دهد، تهدید می‌نمایید.

⁶Therefore night shall be unto you, that ye shall not have a vision; and it shall be dark unto you, that ye shall not divine; and the sun shall go down over the prophets, and the day shall be dark over them.

⁶ روز روشن شما به پایان رسیده است و آفتاب بر شما نمی‌تابد. دیگر رؤیایی نمی‌بینید و پیشگویی نخواهید کرد.»

⁷Then shall the seers be ashamed, and the diviners confounded: yea, they shall all cover their lips; for there is no answer of God.

⁷ فال‌بینان و آنهایی که آینده را پیشگویی می‌کنند شرمنده و رسوا می‌شوند و از شرم روی خود را می‌پوشانند. چون خداوند به آنها جواب نخواهد داد.

⁸But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin.

⁸ امّا من سرشار از قدرت روح خداوند هستم و با جرأت می‌توانم قوم اسرائیل را متوجّه گناهانشان سازم.

⁹Hear this, I pray you, ye heads of the house of Jacob, and princes of the house of Israel, that abhor judgment, and pervert all equity.

⁹ پس ای پیشوایان اسرائیل که از عدالت متنفّرید و راستی را خطا جلوه می‌دهید، به حرف من گوش بدهید!

¹⁰They build up Zion with blood, and Jerusalem with iniquity.

¹⁰ شما شهر خدا، یعنی اورشلیم را بر قتل و بی‌عدالتی بنا کرده‌اید.

¹¹The heads thereof judge for reward, and the priests thereof teach for hire, and the prophets thereof divine for money: yet will they lean upon the LORD, and say, Is not the LORD among us? none evil can come upon us.

¹¹ حاکمان رشوه می‌گیرند، کاهنان تا مزد نگیرند تعلیم نمی‌دهند و انبیا هم به رایگان نبوّت نمی‌کنند. این اشخاص ادّعا می‌کنند که خداوند با آنهاست و خطری متوجّه آنها نیست. پس به‌خاطر شما اورشلیم مانند کشتزاری شیار شده، به تودهٔ خاک تبدیل می‌گردد و کوهی که معبد بزرگ بر آن بنا شده، به جنگل مبدل می‌شود.

¹²Therefore shall Zion for your sake be plowed as a field, and Jerusalem shall become heaps, and the mountain of the house as the high places of the forest.

¹² پس به‌خاطر شما اورشلیم مانند کشتزاری شیار شده، به تودهٔ خاک تبدیل می‌گردد و کوهی که معبد بزرگ بر آن بنا شده، به جنگل مبدل می‌شود.
