¹We have heard with our ears, O God, our fathers have told us, what work thou didst in their days, in the times of old.

¹ خدایا، ما به گوشهای خود شنیده‌ایم و اجداد ما برای ما تعریف کرده‌اند که تو در زمان آنها و در دوران گذشته چه کارهای شگفتی انجام داده‌ای.

²How thou didst drive out the heathen with thy hand, and plantedst them; how thou didst afflict the people, and cast them out.

² تو با دست خود اقوام دیگر را از این سرزمین بیرون کردی و قوم خود را در سرزمین خودشان ساکن گرداندی. تو آنها را مجازات کردی، و قوم خود را توفیق بخشیدی.

³For they got not the land in possession by their own sword, neither did their own arm save them: but thy right hand, and thine arm, and the light of thy countenance, because thou hadst a favour unto them.

³ قوم تو این سرزمین را با شمشیر خود تسخیر نکردند، و به قدرت بازوی خویش پیروز نگردیدند، بلکه با قدرت و توانایی تو و با اطمینان به حضور تو که نشانهٔ رضایت تو از آنان بود پیروز گشتند.

⁴Thou art my King, O God: command deliverances for Jacob.

⁴ تو پادشاه و خدای من هستی، به قوم خود پیروزی عطا فرما.

⁵Through thee will we push down our enemies: through thy name will we tread them under that rise up against us.

⁵ با کمک تو دشمنان را شکست می‌دهیم و با نام تو بدخواهان خود را پایمال می‌کنیم.

⁶For I will not trust in my bow, neither shall my sword save me.

⁶ نه تیر و کمان خود توکّل خواهم کرد و نه به شمشیر خود که مرا نجات دهد؛

⁷But thou hast saved us from our enemies, and hast put them to shame that hated us.

⁷ بلکه تو ما را از دست دشمنانمان رهایی بخشیدی و بدخواهان ما را شکست دادی.

⁸In God we boast all the day long, and praise thy name for ever. Selah.

⁸ ما همیشه به نام خدای خود افتخار خواهیم كرد و پیوسته سپاسگزار تو خواهیم بود.

⁹But thou hast cast off, and put us to shame; and goest not forth with our armies.

⁹ امّا اکنون ما را ترک کرده‌ای و رسوا ساخته‌ای، لشکریان ما را کمک نمی‌کنی.

¹⁰Thou makest us to turn back from the enemy: and they which hate us spoil for themselves.

¹⁰ ما را در مقابل دشمن متواری ساخته‌ای و آنها دارایی ما را غارت کرده‌اند.

¹¹Thou hast given us like sheep appointed for meat; and hast scattered us among the heathen.

¹¹ ما را مانند گوسفندان به کشتارگاه فرستادی؛ و در بین اقوام جهان پراکنده ساختی.

¹²Thou sellest thy people for nought, and dost not increase thy wealth by their price.

¹² قوم خود را ارزان فروختی، آنها برای تو ارزشی نداشتند.

¹³Thou makest us a reproach to our neighbours, a scorn and a derision to them that are round about us.

¹³ نزد همسایگان، ما را خوار و حقیر ساختی. آنها به ما توهین می‌کنند و به ما می‌خندند.

¹⁴Thou makest us a byword among the heathen, a shaking of the head among the people.

¹⁴ ما را در میان ملّتهای دیگر انگشت‌نما ساخته‌ای، و ما وسیلهٔ خندهٔ آنان گشته‌ایم.

¹⁵My confusion is continually before me, and the shame of my face hath covered me,

¹⁵ پیوسته به‌خاطر اهانت دشمنان و نفرت بدخواهان خوار و شرمنده‌ام.

¹⁶For the voice of him that reproacheth and blasphemeth; by reason of the enemy and avenger.

¹⁶ همهٔ اینها بر ما واقع شد، امّا ما تو را فراموش نکردیم و پیمانی را که با ما بسته‌ای نشکستیم.

¹⁷All this is come upon us; yet have we not forgotten thee, neither have we dealt falsely in thy covenant.

¹⁷ از تو دلسرد نشدیم و از راه تو منحرف نگشتیم.

¹⁸Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;

¹⁸ امّا تو ما را در بین حیوانات وحشی بدون کمک رها کردی؛ و ما را در تاریکی کامل ترک نمودی.

¹⁹Though thou hast sore broken us in the place of dragons, and covered us with the shadow of death.

¹⁹ اگر ما نام تو را فراموش می‌کردیم، یا دست کمک به سوی خدایان غیر دراز می‌کردیم،

²⁰If we have forgotten the name of our God, or stretched out our hands to a strange god;

²⁰ البتّه تو می‌دانستی، زیرا از اسرار دل مردم آگاهی.

²¹Shall not God search this out? for he knoweth the secrets of the heart.

²¹ ما به‌خاطر نام تو همیشه با مرگ روبه‌رو هستیم و ما را مانند گوسفندانی که در انتظار کشته شدن باشند، به حساب می‌آورند.

²²Yea, for thy sake are we killed all the day long; we are counted as sheep for the slaughter.

²² ای خداوند، بیدار شو! چرا خوابیده‌ای؟ برخیز و ما را برای همیشه ترک مکن.

²³Awake, why sleepest thou, O Lord? arise, cast us not off for ever.

²³ چرا خود را از ما پنهان می‌کنی؟ مصیبت و رنجهای ما را از یاد مبر.

²⁴Wherefore hidest thou thy face, and forgettest our affliction and our oppression?

²⁴ دیگر به خاک افتاده، شکست خورده‌ایم. برخیز و به کمک ما بیا! به‌خاطر محبّت پایدار خود ما را نجات بده.

²⁵For our soul is bowed down to the dust: our belly cleaveth unto the earth.

²⁵ برخیز و به کمک ما بیا! به‌خاطر محبّت پایدار خود ما را نجات بده.

²⁶Arise for our help, and redeem us for thy mercies' sake.
